Love the Chopin, in my opinion it’s the best IEM at its price, the bass on it has beautiful tactility and impact.
Currently? Still the BA Chopin. The subbass is there when you need it, and it hides away when you don't. It's not strong on male vocals, but damn is it good with J-Pop.
Some Reviewers are pretty open when it comes to different tunings. Take Mark Ryan / SuperReviews for example. He gives high ratings to IEMs which do not really hit his FR target. E.g. Gizaudio Chopin, which is more of a harman tuned IEM received a 5/5 by him. A good reviewer knows his preferences and sensitivities which are not universal and are able to tell you if something sounds tastefully or even great independently from personal preferences. Jays Audio is similar, in his top-10 there are many IEMs with different tunings. Of course, there are also reviewers which seem to be more tied to a specific tuning. Take Precogvision or Listener for example. If you check the graphs of their top-10 IEMs they are tuned similar based on their preferred tuning (Precogvision: V/U-Shaped or even W-Shaped/Elysian-Style IEMs) Listener: warm-tilted JM-1 DF). So you have two options: 1) Find your preferences with EQ and check which reviewers seem to have a strong preference to this target 2) Find your preferences with EQ and check out the reviewers which have no strong preferences to any target
Cadenza 4 is one of the most well known female vocals set for sure and it also EQs quite well if you're into that. Alternatively something Harman like the Truthear Nova (foam tips required), Supermix 4, or Binary Chopin is probably fine as that tuning is often female vocal forward
Tangzu waner/waner 2 and Binary Chopin are my favorites for female vocals.
Dunu Davinci for music Tangzu Zetian Wu Legend for gaming Binary Chopin when I'm outside.
My go to for female vocalists is the Binary x Gizaudio Chopin. I looked into the Zigaat Odyssey and Letshuoer 08 as well.
My OG Arias served me very well for years as it led me to newer experiences with the Binary x Gizaudio Chopin.
Ultimate Ears Triple.Fi 10 Pro. Got them senior year of highschool, just before heading off to college out of state. Used them with a Cowon J3. They were completely transformative. Replaced the cable a few times over the years. They're still on my shelf and work fine. Since then the only other IEM I've gotten (and still use) is the Gizaudio x Binary Acoustics Chopin. Not the same magic, but also a different price category.
Almost 10 years since i had first bought my KZ ZS5 - been demoing iem at various places ever since. Hmm, i might have undersold my experiences a bit. But i would say binary acoustics x gizaudio collab iem is pretty nice - since 11.11 is coming up soon you should probably pickup Davinci by Dunu, or if you are very very tight on money you can opt to pick up Truthear Pure. If you want harman tuning, theres always the truthear novas. As far as I know the Novas sound 95% identical to Moondrop Variations, and the details should be there as well. I daily drive moondrops at the gym. Best of luck.
You have a lot of options in that price range. Jm1- tuned Iems (good Allrounder with a good amount of bass with clean natural mids and smoother in the treble. Not necessarily detail monsters in their respective price range): Kiwi Ears Ke4, Crinear Daybreak, Epz P50, Ziigaat Odyssey 1&2, Dunu Davinci (and Ziigaat Crescent) Harman-tuned Iems (Sounds overall engaging and fun. Really clean and more energy in bass and treble compared to the mids): Truthear Nova, Tanchjim Kara and GIZAUDIO x binary Chopin Neutral (like it says neutral. Nothing is really boosted or anything. Sounds flat. Not for me): Trutehar Hexa (with a bass boost) or Etymotic er2se. U-shaped (similiar to V-shaped but more subbass and upper treble focused): Aful Performer 5+2 V-shaped(a lot of bass and treble energy. Really exciting but can also come across fatiguing): Ziigaat Estrella Subbass boosted (bass. Give me bass!): Fatfreq Deuce Midbass lover (give me that thump!): Ziigaat Doscinco or Ziigaat Arcadia Vocal forward (the vocals are the star of the show): Tanchjim Origin (or cheaper options like Fission and Nora)
Hey, I don't recommend the Supermix 4 as the treble is too much for me (I get fatigue over time). If you wanna stick with Harman I would go with the Truthear Nova for 50quids less ( https://amzn.asia/d/hKDOjKv https://graph.hangout.audio/iem/5128/?share=JM-1_Target,SuperMix_4,Nova_TE&bass=8&tilt=0&treble=-4&ear=0 ) or for 60Aud more I would look at the binary x GIZAUDIO Chopin (https://graph.hangout.audio/iem/5128/?share=JM-1_Target,SuperMix_4,Nova_TE,Chopin&bass=8&tilt=0&treble=-4&ear=0 https://amzn.asia/d/atqSDLt ) or the Tanchjim Kara if you want a bit less bass but still Harman for 30Aud more than the supermix (https://graph.hangout.audio/iem/5128/?share=JM-1_Target,SuperMix_4,Nova_TE,Chopin,Kara&bass=8&tilt=0&treble=-4&ear=0 https://amzn.asia/d/azPlx2G ) Some other Iems I would personally pick over the Supermix 4 would be the Kiwi Ears Ke4 for $295 (after coupon https://amzn.asia/d/23yycCS) as well as the Quintet for $291 (after coupon https://amzn.asia/d/4upC76P ). https://graph.hangout.audio/iem/5128/?share=JM-1_Target,SuperMix_4,Quintet,KE4&bass=8&tilt=0&treble=-4&ear=0 Edit: for the dongle I would probably just pick the koondrop echo b, kiwi ears allegro mini or fiio ja11. Doesn't matter that much.
