"truly sound much more expensive than they are"

"I’ve never experienced the kind of value per dollar that I am getting out of this set, and I think the industry just got a little shake up. ... Other manufacturers are going to be upset with Juzear pricing the DEFIANT at $100 as they could just as easily priced it at $200+ and no one would bat an eye. ... Most importantly, it’s putting a taste of Hi-Fi sound within reach of lots more people. ... I haven’t heard a better warm-neutral for $100 or less yet out of the 125 IEMs in my collection."

"The Defiant quite simply is a better IEM than the CK-D41. ... Instead I was expecting to being able to say that the Defiant is s very nice IEM given its price. I was wrong. The truth is that the Defiant generally performs better than its price."

"The high end of the defiant is my favorite in this price range for a few reasons. First, it’s extremely well controlled without ever becoming splashy or siblilant. ... I have a dedicated test track for sibilance “Plasticities“ by Andrew Bird. The Defiant passes with flying colors despite all the extra “T”, “S”, and cymbal sounds throughout that track. ... I’m personally very treble sensitive so it’s important for me to have comfortable Trouble that maintains extension into the highest frequencies. ... The defiance is just a touch smooth in this regard, but the way the set transmits the treble presentation directly into your brain makes it stand out all the more. ... The acoustic tuning of the Defiant allows the set to give you all the treble that you need without making it too loud or peaky. ... The layering allows the high end to make its own statement without having to yell over the bass. ... This balance is the core of what makes the Defiant so special to me, and they've even managed to improve the balance over the 61T here, adding just a touch more treble energy to give the set a more exciting presentation."

"Smooth signature, nice dynamic balance, nicely tuned for $99 ... Really just a pleasant sounding iem across the board ... The Defiant specializes in drawing the emotion from music. Like a wave in the sea it's fluid, rhythmic, and Juzear did a great job of covering every area in the mix (bass, mids, treble) and creating a warm dynamic balance. No area is left out. Really it's a very fun, very melodic, and honestly just a pleasant sounding set. No offense, no fatigue, no odd timbral issues, nothing metallic, no sibilance. The Defiant has just enough dynamism and it's clean across the board. ... Couldn't agree more. Well said. Ya the Defiant is a special set if you simply like to enjoy music."

"Defiant is more balanced and punchy, and less bass-bloated. ... More full of life even on lower volume, better separation of instruments, more resolution on guitar, groove is present, scales worse, bass is more natural and clangy."

"Punchy, fun, engaging signature with good contrast between bass and treble ... The Defiant are fun thanks to their punchy and full bodied low-end, a soft recession in the midrange and a lively treble. ... Yes, yes, yes. I like the tuning, I like the fact that the low-end is punchy and very tight and I love the energetic sound that these reproduce. ... It ’s a complete package that features a healthy and fun-sounding low-end along with a nice balance between all the other frequencies. ... It ’s a keeper for me. ... The Defiant are punchier, warmer, more U-shaped and with a more contrasty sound, resulting in a more engaging and exciting approach ... Overall, I find the Defiant more fun and engaging to listen to ... I like the overall balance that Juzear and Zeos managed to strike, with a very tight and impactful low-end yet, vivid upper-mids and treble and a softly recessed midrange that doesn’t really impact the overall listening experience, giving just a bit more space to the low-end and upper-end to push a bit more forward and providing for a very engaging and contrasty signature."

"Hot damn the bass quality and texture of these are fantastic"

"Very good bass quality ... The sub-bass has good extension, the bass is meaty and tight, with pretty nice textures and decent speed as well, and the attack and decay never feel off. ... I like the fact that the low-end is punchy and very tight ... The Defiant sound tighter and with a better bass punch instead ... The Defiant instead have a more emphasized sub-bass response ... more impactful bass due to the more contrasty signature."

"great sounding iem's especially if you're into V- shaped sound signature with more subbass and detailed but not overly sharp treble"

"the treble has good energy yet it never reaches that point in which I find it fatiguing. It’s still on the bright side, but it’s a well-balanced brightness also thanks to a healthy amount of low-end. ... a less bright treble ... smoother and more tolerable upper range frequencies for most people"

planar usually have that wow factor when people listen to them, kiwi ears aether would be a nice choice otherwise juzear defiant are also very good i'd probably stay away from supermix for your genres as male vocals are not great on them + lack of midbass for stuff like rock, funk where the above sets would generally suit those much better

I have a standard H4, and I enjoy the Artti T10, JUZEAR x Z Reviews Defiant (highly recommend), and Truthear Hexa. They're all distinct in their own ways, and wonderful to explore music with paired to the H4.

I’d say add $10, get the juzear defiant (it gets to 80 on sale) and just plug straight into your phone.. I have tried lots of much more expensive IEMs with other sources and the defiant is still up there in performance IMO and super comfortable

The Defiant is indeed pretty amazing for the price. It's not my personal favorite (I prefer the Pure and Hexa because of my bias for mids), but it's probably the one I would most easily recommend to people if they don't know their tuning preference. Really fun sound signature, but still pretty safe at the same time. Like you mentioned, I was also quite surprised that the midrange is still pretty solid on its own.

Didn't stop me from getting the Defiants though 😆. Fits really well to my collection as I tend to rotate sound signatures quite a bit. My main rotation of Hexa (Brighter Neutral), Pure (Warmer Neutral), Blue:2 (Hard V-shape), and Defiant (Soft V-shape) satisfies my cravings well (for now).

Yeah, the Blue:2 has a very forward treble, and a lot of sub-bass. It doesn't really have the problem you mentioned of being "muddy" in busy tracks like the Defiants, but at the same time it sounds a bit thin/artificial in more organic/vocal-focused tracks. The Red has a much milder treble when I tried them compared to the Blue:2s.

Pure's a good pick, especially since you want neutral but with a bit more body. Bass is also more present compared to the Hexa. Haven't heard of magicone myself, but graph suggestes the treble may be a bit spicy? Explorer is also pretty good when I listened to them, though I went with the Pure between the two for my warm-leaning set. I'd probably wait a bit to see what the Moondrop LAN II brings, since apparently there's going to be 2 versions (reference and pop). If you found the Hexa to be thin, the Zero Blue:2 is probably not for you (I have and enjoy it, but it's not really what I'd call neutral and the mids are pretty thin). One more set that I would recommend is the Juzear Defiant. It's not neutral, but it's fun and balanced. From my main 4 sets (Juzear Defiant, Truthear Pure, Hexa, Zero Blue 2), it's the set that's easiest to recommend to someone that doesn't know their preference (though my favorite is still the Pure/Hexa).

as the title says, i love my defiants, they sound so rich, perfect for me, i like "musical" music, like instrumentals, soundtracks, edm. but i also like the highend instruments. i also own the fatfreq decue, while amazing rumble on them, i use them to listen to EDM and while bike riding (for their fit). i prefer the balance of the defiants. i boosted the bass to my preference, almost basshead levels. while retaining the clarity. i love the bass texture of the defiants. the imaging is also very good. SO what should i buy in the next 6-9 months. under 500$ only. i need to save up to buy. The Martillo is a recommendation i get a lot.

Even though the Defiant uses 0.78mm cables, the cable sockets on the Defiant actually are QDC connectors which have been recessed to be flush with the shells. QDC connectors have a history of cracking. I like the build quality of the EW300. I have never seen the Hexa or the T10 or the S08.

I received my pair of Defiant IEMs earlier today! I purchased the Defiant (rainbow color) with my own money from the HiFiGo store on Aliexpress. Easilygreat's review of the Defiant totally hits the nail on the head. You can see his review here if you haven't already: [https://www.reddit.com/r/iems/comments/1kvw9l8/the\_juzear\_x\_z\_reviews\_defiant\_taste\_the\_hifi/](https://www.reddit.com/r/iems/comments/1kvw9l8/the_juzear_x_z_reviews_defiant_taste_the_hifi/) The Defiant easily passed my five minute initial listening test. Passing the five minute test means that I could not resist further evaluating these IEMs. I listened to the Defiant using around two dozen test tracks from different genres in addition to listening to specific portions of these test tracks to evaluate specific aspects of the IEMs. I also perform listening comparisons to my other IEMs which have similar overall sound signatures. The bass and sub bass are clean yet also are textured and layered. The Defiant has more sub bass than bass. The sub bass rumble is pretty clean and powerful. People who love sub bass will be delighted since the sub bass is very nice given the Defiant's price. I personally like the sub bass intensity to be similar to the bass intensity. Switching to JVC Spiral Dot eartips somewhat reduced the sub bass intensity such that it not much more than the bass intensity. I then switched to the Tangzu Tang Sancai Wide Bore eartips which are slightly better for my needs, yet note that I had to use o-rings in order to prevent these Tangzu eartips from sliding a bit back and forth on the nozzles. The lower midrange and the upper midrange and the treble have very good instrument separation with very clean sounding macro and micro details. The quality of the details and especially the micro details is very surprising. You are right that the Defiant is a very cohesive IEM. The Defiant's tuning is very similar to the more expensive Myer Audio CKLVX CK-D41. The Defiant has better dynamic drivers which deliver cleaner and more textured bass. The Defiant's BA drivers also sound slightly cleaner. The Defiant has slightly less of a dip around 6 kHz to control any harsh "t" and "s" and "sh" sounds in female vocals. These sounds do not sound harsh on the Defiant if the female artist has been trained about how to articulate these sounds. Artist training is something that I had never thought about. Vocals and in particular female vocals sound outstanding on the Defiant. The Defiant quite simply is a better IEM than the CK-D41. I wasn't expecting this result since the Defiant is less expensive. Instead I was expecting to being able to say that the Defiant is s very nice IEM given its price. I was wrong. The truth is that the Defiant generally performs better than its price. Like the CK-D41, the Defiant also has a slightly early rise for the simulated pinna gain for a bit more presence. This makes female vocals sound totally delicious. Its only fault is that the Defiant might have slightly too much presence for some genres, yet this is easily fixed by pulling 1 kHz down by 1 dB. Yep, just one dB. I appreciate the light weight of the IEMs and the included lightweight rainbow colored cable. Both are very comfortable. Congratulations to Zeos for actually creating a very nice collaboration. Thank you to everyone who enjoyed reading my review.

You are welcome. I was on the fence about purchasing another lower mid tier IEM, yet one reviewer mentioned that the bass is pretty clear and clean. This was something that I was looking to hear since everyone agreed that this IEM performs very well in all other aspects. This convinced me to purchase the Defiant. I purchased the Defiant and instantly regretted doing so, since I figured that the Defiant would not perform any better than the CKLVX CK-D41 which I already own. I am glad that I was wrong.

My Defiants have a vent hole in each shell. The Sony Spiral Dot eartips fit nicely on the Defiant and provide a very tight seal with no venting issues. Maybe they added a tiny internal vent tube from the front of the driver to the back of the driver?

This is becoming interesting. I am pretty sure that my Defiants are not from the initial production batch since I very recently ordered them from HiFiGo. I wonder if there is an internal modification which is preventing pressure buildup even though there are no front vents. I tried a variety of eartips on the Defiant by pressing them in further after I got a good seal. I didn't encounter inner ear pressure issues whereas I encounter pressure issues by barely moving the MagicOne in or out after getting a good seal.

Your intro has a not recommended suggestion of flipping off a cop. I get it that you are simply joking a bit since our world is far less than sane. Everyone, do you see easilygreat's desk which has a striking texture in the wood grain? I love his desk which I instantly recognize his desk as meaning that the post is from easilygreat. I think that he has named his desk Greta. Easilygreat describes the bass as fairly quick and tactile. I recall that another reviewer, who I really trust, recently and similarly described the Defiant's bass as being a bit powerful yet clean, and also described the clarity of details in the midrange and upper midrange and treble regions as being somewhat yet noticeably above average at the Defiant's price point. The review by another reviewer who I really trust prompted me to purchase the Defiant which now is on a jet plane from China as of today. I am looking forward to listening to this IEM since the tuning appears to be right up my alley and since the technicalities throughout the entire frequency response should be satisfying, especially given the Defiant's price. I am hoping that the micro details will be pretty clear even though I expect that the macro details will be very clear. You forgot to mention that the upper midrange appears to be meta tuned since there is a dip at around 6 kHz in order to make the upper midrange sound more relaxing. Anyway, just some thoughts since I am excited about receiving this IEM fairly soon.

About me: I’m musician with 14 year experience - couple instruments, some concerts and homerecording. I listen to almost everything genre-wise, so the IEMs weaknesess and strenghts are tested on different grounds. I don’t care about collabs. I care about the sound. In reviews I want to focus purely on the experience and comparisons to give you something tangible in this non-tangible hobby. Graphs never tell the whole story and can easly misguide non-professionals, there is hrtf or ear-canal variance and the fitment can make or brake any IEM. I try to enjoy the sets as intended by creators, without EQ if possible. IEMs bought with my own money. Opinions are my own. With this outta the way...   **Let's Define the Defiant** \[insert Jordan Peterson meme here\] **Music:** About their character and colour: They got this cocky, slightly nasal sound (if you know what I mean https://youtu.be/Y9bvj4t1oc8?si=AqQpV0Dq-nIFcbGt) which is responsible for making them less boring than flat presentation but rather give „hey handsome, wanna have some fun?” experience. And oh boy, do I caught the bait. Leviosaaaaah! **Make the snare your** **best friend!** – The drums (especially snare) and bass work together in a fantastic tandem to rock your boat. If I’m not the basshead, than I am groove-head for sure, and they are grooovin’. You’ve got enough bass to enjoy the music without overpowering anything, when the song calls for it, there it goes. There is a pinch of colouration on top to keep you interested and engaged without music sounding artificial or overproduced. There are enough details to make you appreciate the recording without feeling like they will poke your eyes out with their crispiness and sharpness, or that you have to make pauses every 3 songs because of fatigue. Their highs are „safe”. **Do they scale well?** It’s a mid-volume set. You’ve got everything you need from the bottom to mid volume. I appreciate that. Don’t destroy your hearing, guys. **Do they have any** **flaws** **then?** Sometimes you could want more from the mids. They *could* benefit from a little warming up or pushing forward. It also could mud-up the presentation \[shrugs\], which is vibrant and is bright point of this set. But I’ve noticed any shortcomings only in very „airy” songs with natural instruments like *„The Chain” from Fleetwood Mac*. Second thing is not a flaw, but rather a wish from me – they could benefit from more opennes or wider soundstage and it would make them sound even richer, but surely it would impact their immediacy with delivering the sound. But don’t get me wrong, they are not sounding claustrophobic or in-your-head. Just could be a lil better.   **Build, fit and finish:** \- interchangeable connectors, great addition in this price range. \- very nice Flare cable – it’s not flimsy nor too heavy. No memory issues. Nice design, matching the faceplates. \- Faceplates – they are just beautiful. If you are afraid of the „rainbow” you can choose jade green version (but you now need to buy matching green cable to make them super-cool!) \- Nice leather(like?) case that will fit your dongle (or even something like TRN Blackpearl). \- no pressure buildup problem in my case \- I recommend Dunu SS tips. You are getting some silicons and foam in the set, but I didn’t bother trying them, lol. \- IEM case is Midsized. Nozzle lip measures 6.2mm, I would say average. They are gripping the tips good, but the tip-changing is easy enough not to make you insane. **Comparisons:** **vs Aful Explorer:** My take: I tried to love Explorers, but in comparison to Defiant they can be a snoozfest and can tranquilize even your most groovy songs. The vocals on the Explorers are often misplaced - in the second row or  unnaturally forward. Not the most universal set. They are great for relaxing, or all-day listening, ultra-comfortable and they are special. A lot of bass, but it’s there to hug you, not hurt you. When sometimes I need my music to slap me and get me on my feet, Explorers would just kiss me goodnight - unless you crank them, they scale great but it’s too much volume until they sound good enough. Defiant is more balanced and punchy, and less bass-bloated. Example songs: *Tidal Wave – Tom Misch* Defiant : Warm, vibrant guitars. Pronounced drums (snare has nice impact) with better resolution: you can hear the stick on the snare rim better and you feel more groove, nice details on ghost notes, overall more dynamic sound, balanced tight bass, more natural sound. Vocals are 97% in line with music. Explorer: More sparkly cymbals, less forward vocal, hiding just under the music, more (quantity) bass, warmer low end. *Limp Bizkit - Gold Cobra* Explorer: Comes out somewhat flat musically with unnaturally forward vocals, drums are vibrant only on louder settings, groove is lost here, more sparkly cymbals. Defiant: More full of life even on lower volume, better separation of instruments, more resolution on guitar, groove is present, scales worse, bass is more natural and clangy. **vs Kefine Klean:** My take: Kleans on the sale are young audiophiles dream. Apparently they’ve got everything you want – clear, quite balanced presentation, warmness, some details. They are good for the price but if you can save up to get Defiants, get Defiants and skip Kleans. Richer, more detailed sound without obvious flaws like highs that can and will hurt you. Even more bang for your buck and fun factor.   **vs KBear Rosefinch:** I like Rosefinch, especially for the price. But Defiants are more versatile, unmudded and rich presentation. Defiants have obviously less bass, but for me they kick harder, which is more important for me than bass-blanket.   **The End:** Are you looking for fun set under $100? Do you want to vibe with your music, bang your head a little or tap your foot with just enough bass and without making the music unnecessary artificial? THIS IS IT. Don’t look further. But they got a little special sauce to achieve it, so if you are against ANY colour (most folks won’t even notice that lil bit) in your music or you are snare-hater, that’s not it. Very nicely implemented tuning with fun in mind. Are they overhyped? The hypetrain is here, but taking into consideration that this is under $100 set, I think it’s justified. Check them yourself and make your mind! Worth trying.   If you want more reviews like this, consider upvoting. **Recommended Defiant tracks:** *Hyper – Spoiler* *Sleep Token – Emergence* *Q-Tip – Breathe and stop* Deftones – Passenger (Mike *Shinoda remix)* FKJ, Tom Misch – Losing My *Way* **Used tech:** Fosi audio SK02, TRN Blackpearl, jcally jm6 pro.

I have tried both. I prefer the relaxed vocals and rich, warm tone of the Explorers. Some say they are dark. I disagree: There is just the right amount of treble in my opinion. I found the Defiant a tad bit forward in the vocals. Not quite shouty but too close to the line for me. Oh… and the Explorers are more comfortable to me as well.

Great review. Thanks. I used to own the Defiants but ended up going with the Explorers instead. Thing is, your review is spot on to what my ears heard with the Defiants, and hear now with the Explorers. I found the Defiants a tad bit foward (shouty) on some tracks. They really announce their presence. And just like you said, the Explorers are super laid back unless you crank them up. Anyway, for those reading this review, I think it is very accurate. Right now, the IEM to go for with good clarity, and a relaxed treble region, hand down, is the Juzear Defiant. In simple terms it is a more vocal forward version of the Explorer. I think the Explorer is a little more technical than the Defiant, but it can sound bland or muddy to some, because it is very flat in the upper mids and treble. The Defiant boost the upper mids slightly, giving vocals a little sweetness, which opens up the totality and makes it feel a little more clean and refreshing, without becoming overly bright. Like the Explorer it comes with a nice carrying case, decent tip selection, and a great cable. And, for now, it's still available for $100 on HiFiGo or Amazon. I assume, while US Supply lasts. So for now, as much as I love the Explorer, the Defiant is my overall $100 pick, as I think it is a more mass appeal tuning than the Explorer.

You might want to give the Fudu a try the next time it comes on sale. I think you might like it. The bass is a little slow. But it has some good ear gain to bring the vocals forward, and a more laid over treble style, like the Explorer, that maintains detail, without a face full of harsh sibilance. The new Juzear Defiant is also an excellent option. It basically an Explorer with more ear gain. Super solid choice for $100.

At the link above you'll find my full thoughts regarding Juzear's latest under $100 hybrid iem which goes by the name Juzear X-Z Reviews Defiant. Of course, that “Z-Reviews” refers to Zeos, the YouTube personality who collaborated with Juzear to make the Defiant become a reality. Folks, I only have a moment right now but I wanted to share my review. So please forgive if I don't go into some huge preamble covering the Defiant. I can promise it's all in my review. Anyways, the Defiant is absolutely solid any way you look at it. Whether it be the build, the design, the unboxing, or the sound, the Defiant is right up there with the best in class. This is not a hype piece but it is a feature from one audio fan to another and I just want to show you guys what's out there. In the case of the Defiant, it's simply a very good hybrid set at $99. Perhaps one of the best (depending on your preferences). I honestly don't think I know of a flat-out better “musicality” driven set which overtakes the Defiant. No doubt there are plenty which stand right beside it. What I'm getting at is… the Defiant is a very good purchase for under $100. Juzear really did a nice job. Of course it has its faults too. Just like every iem and audio device on planet earth it has some issues. Whether that's preferential tonal issues that some may have or issues on the technical side of things, every set has them. No doubt I try to outline those things as best I can. I mean, it's a “musicality-first” iem. Any musicality-first set will have some technical quirks. For instance, the Defiant is warmer, richer note weight, not the most technically amazing and so it may not agree with people who love and adore analytical style tunings. Truthfully, for what it is… the Defiant should be considered by many. If the Defiant seems like a set that you may enjoy I encourage you to check out my thoughts. I've spent every day with this set getting to know it and I hope I did a decent job explaining it. Probably not. Lol. Anywhoo, I hope you all have a great weekend and enjoy every moment you have to chill with your tunes. Also, just enjoy life. Take care. Comparisons: QOA Mimosa / Aful Explorer 🔥🔥🔥 Defiant Pros 🔥🔥🔥 -Well made using 3D printed resin -One of the best design/aesthetic iem under $200 -Ergonomic and fairly comfortable -Nice unboxing for the cost -Great modular cable for the price -Smooth signature, nice dynamic balance, nicely tuned for $99 -Nicely rich notes with a clean sound field, natural transients -Really just a pleasant sounding iem across the board -Beefy low-end with satisfying rumble -Velvet style midrange, barely recessed, good presence for vocalists -Non-fatiguing treble region with just enough sparkles -Imaging is nice 😒😒 Defiant Cons 🥶🥶 -The highs could use a hair more brilliance -Detail Retrieval as well as instrument separation is about average -I’d consider this a safe tuning which some may not enjoy (is this a con? EH) -Analytical lovers and treble heads will not be impressed -Micro-dynamics are less obvious Check out my full review of the Defiant here: https://mobileaudiophile.com/in-ear-earphones-iem-iems-reviews/juzear-x-z-reviews-defiant-review/?amp=1

So I don't have the Cepheus unfortunately, but I can compare the Defiant with the H20. In my opinion these are two very differently tuned sets though both sets lean heavily in their musicality. The Defiant is much cleaner, more balanced, better technically across the board. The H20 definitely has the beefier and more full-bodied bass region, it's much warmer, thicker and richer note weight. Personally, I feel both are fantastic sets for their tuning styles, but I would take the Defiant over the H20 for sure. Nothing against the H20 but the Defiant is a very well rounded set.

I think its much easier to tell the difference in IEM's under the $200 range. For example the Zero:Red and the Juzear Defiant are $60/$100 and the Defiants sounds leagues beyond. I recently bought the Daybreaks, they're ok (going to eq).

Hey guys, apparently you can do whatever you want now. So go flip off a cop. Tell your boss to fill out their own TPS reports. Moon the mailman (that guy’s a fed). Nothing matters because Juzear just flipped the script. We’re not in Kansas anymore, but I like where we are a whole lot better. Cutting to the chase, the Juzear x Z Reviews DEFIANT has completely obliterated the $100 price point for IEMs imho. I’ve never experienced the kind of value per dollar that I am getting out of this set, and I think the industry just got a little shake up. Other manufacturers are going to be upset with Juzear pricing the DEFIANT at $100 as they could just as easily priced it at $200+ and no one would bat an eye. The set is outpacing some pricier sets like the Simgot Supermix 4 and the Aful P5. And the tuning is giving its big brother the 61T Butterfly a run for its money too. I’ll give a brief comparison to those 3 sets at the end, but first I’ll explain how this 3BA 1DD hybrid set has managed to fill my warm-neutral heart with joy. Huge thanks to HiFiGo for sending me the Defiant to review. Let’s take at this audacious little guy. # Look and Feel Opening the package we find the set already connected to its cable nestled in protective foam, sitting above a sturdy brown leather hard case branded with the Juzear logo. In the case we find a 4.4mm termination for the modular cable, 2 sets of silicone eartips (bass and neutral), 1 pair of foam eartips, a cleaning cloth, and a neat little plastic Z Reviews standee. I was sent the rainbow color way of the Defiant, which has an iridescent face plate seemingly made of abalone or some other mollusk shell under a metallic inlay and a layer of resin. It’s an absolutely stunning looking set if you’re into this kind of vibe and I can get lost looking at the shimmery patterns of this shell-shell forever. If you’re looking for a more “masculine” vibe, it also comes in a vibrant Jungle Green color that makes me want to jump over barrels a la Donkey Kong. The cable is a four core design that looks like interwoven strands of blue and pink cotton candy terminating in brushed aluminum hardware that connects to our rainbow singing-pebbles. The cable’s sweet look complements the set well and brings a lot of personality. It holds very little memory and I found it to be a very comfortable weight and thickness. The chin cinch functioned as expected, albeit slightly tight, with no microphonic issues to be found. Its an amazing cable for this price point, and makes the sets value proposition all the more enticing. This is the Juzear FLARE cable and it goes for $39.99 by itself. I found the fit comfortable, but be forewarned that I have fairly large ears. The inside is a bit flat to account for different ear shapes, and I measured the nozzle to be 6.25 mm at its widest point. The included tips were serviceable but I tip-rolled to my preferred tips. Today, Tangzu Tang Sancai Balanced. The entire accessory package brings a lot of value in and of itself, but it could have come with just the IEMs and my title would be the same. # Sound Impressions True to its name, it defied my expectations. It was one of those rare “big dumb smile” moments as I tested it out for the first time. The set is pretty close to my preferred sound signature and it does the job extremely well. So well that the other manufacturers are probably filling socks with rocks as we speak. But Juzear wont lose their kneevaps in vain. **Bass** The foundation of the Defiant’s sound is in its strong bass. That's not only a bad pun, but speaks to the deft layering Juzear was able to implement in tuning this set. Defiant has a powerful subbass rumble that fully envelops you in its sound while never bleeding into the midrange. This sort of tuning can't be achieved without a hybrid configuration allowing the Defiants dynamic driver to act as a subwoofer, and its the reason I tend to lean towards BA DD hybrids personally. This strong, clean rumble is paired with a fairly quick, tactile midbass kick that shows off one of this sets greatest strengths, its texture. The midbass slam isn't overwhelming, but manages to retain its own character in the face of the sub bass shelf and gives the low end a fun character. The entire bass presentation is well controlled and resolved, and easily stands next to sets like the Aful P5 and its big brother, the 61T Butterfly. **Mids** The balance of the Defiant allows the midrange to shine with a texture that maintains pace with the rest of the presentation. Stringed instruments have a sweet tonality, while woodwinds sound soulful and clear. Male vocals retain a powerful presence, well supported by the strong midbass foundation. Vocals aren't the most prominent, but never feel vailed or like they're sitting behind the bass and treble. Female vocals similarly shine with a beautiful tonality. Busy, chaotic track still leave room for clear vocals to cut through. **Treble** The high end of the defiant is my favorite in this price range for a few reasons. First, it’s extremely well controlled without ever becoming splashy or siblilant. I have a dedicated test track for sibilance “Plasticities“ by Andrew Bird. The Defiant passes with flying colors despite all the extra “T”, “S”, and cymbal sounds throughout that track. I’m personally very treble sensitive so it’s important for me to have comfortable Trouble that maintains extension into the highest frequencies. The defiance is just a touch smooth in this regard, but the way the set transmits the treble presentation directly into your brain makes it stand out all the more. You can see the balanced armature filters sitting directly under the mesh screen of the set. The acoustic tuning of the Defiant allows the set to give you all the treble that you need without making it too loud or peaky. The layering allows the high end to make its own statement without having to yell over the bass. This balance is the core of what makes the Defiant so special to me, and they've even managed to improve the balance over the 61T here, adding just a touch more treble energy to give the set a more exciting presentation. **Techs** Defiant has a fairly wide and deep soundstage, giving the listener an open, spacious listening experience. Imaging was good and accurate, and instrument separation was phenomenal. The sets tuning allows for some “out-of-head” sounds that one normally doesn’t experience until the $200+ price bracket. Detail retrieval is one of the few areas that I found the set to be average in, with microdetails taking a back seat to the sets engaging presentation. Macrodetails in the midrange however came through with tons of edge and bite for a visceral sonic presentation. # Comparisons Vs Aful P5- defiant takes what’s special about the P5, namely its bass presentation, and adds a more cohesive, engaging treble to round out the sound. A more prominent upper midrange gives the Defiant more tactility and dynamism than the P5. Treble is also better controlled on the Defiant Vs Simgot Supermix 4- while the Supermix 4 is another set that punches above weight, Defiant has it licked on tuning with a treble presentation that’s sure to have a wider appeal. I find the SM4 to have a few upper midrange and treble peaks that don’t allow for long listening session. The Defiant maintains treble clarity and presence through acoustic tuning and maintains a more linear treble sound that appeals much more to my ears. Vs Juzear 61T- So big brother might still be winning in terms of resolution and detail retrieval, but the tuning of the Defiant will probably appeal to a wider range of people. The 61T is a bit smoother and has just a bit less treble energy. Defiant improves upon the treble extension and perfects what was already a great tuning. # Final Thoughts Juzear, sure you’re going to be sleeping with one eye open for a little while. But guys, it was worth it. What you’ve managed to bring to market here is special, and should make enough to hire the extra security you’ll need. I saw Aful and Simgot at the gym and they looked pissed. In all seriousness, this is my favorite release of 2025 so far. The DEFIANT seems like it’s succeeding in what it’s set out to do, defying expectations and competition seemingly out of nowhere. Most importantly, it’s putting a taste of Hi-Fi sound within reach of lots more people. I haven’t heard a better warm-neutral for $100 or less yet out of the 125 IEMs in my collection. I’m working on a tier list of that collection right now and the Defiant landed way above where any $100 set has the right to. I’d highly recommend the DEFIANT to anyone looking for a warm-neutral/ soft v-shaped IEM around $100. Its killer combination of tuning, tonality, and techs make it a potent force on the scene and a huge feather in Juzear’s cap. They might make some industry folks unhappy with this release, but it’s good news for you and me. Thanks for reading.

**(Transparency Note):** I’d like to thank HifiGo for sending this unit for review. I am not being paid a single cent for this analysis; this is my honest opinion after a week of intensive testing.  # Too Long; Didn't Read (TL;DR) The Juzear Defiant is a hybrid IEM (1DD + 3BA) positioned in the competitive $100 price bracket. It isn't an IEM that relies on brute force; what truly attracted me were the details. It has a well-balanced, technical, and even fun "U-shaped" signature, rendering treble in a detailed yet smooth way. The bass is textured and deep but restrained in its impact. The mids are clear but very relaxed, which can sound a bit recessed. This is where its duality comes in: it's the perfect upgrade for those seeking more refinement and a fatigue-free listening experience, but who also don't want a colorless IEM. On the other hand, it can sound a bit anemic to those accustomed to a more energetic or mainstream sound, especially in aggressive genres like Rock/Metal. **Pros:** * Excellent technical performance and detail resolution for the price. * Smooth, fatigue-free treble, even on "hot" tracks. * Great instrument separation and layering. * Premium aesthetics and build quality; looks much more expensive. * High-quality modular cable included. **Cons:** * Lack of impact and punch in the mid-bass, which drains the energy from genres like Rock and Metal. * Mids and vocals can sound a bit recessed or "opaque" depending on the mix. * Greatly benefits from a DAC; in my case, it exhibited noise without one. # Unboxing, Design, and Specs This was my first experience with an IEM in this category, and the presentation did not disappoint. The box includes a beautiful leather-like case (though without texture) and a decent set of eartips, but nothing out of the ordinary. But the IEM itself, my friend, is absolutely gorgeous. It comes in Jade Green and Rainbow; I think the name makes it clear which model I have. Personally, I love green, so I really liked the color. It's a shame the cable doesn't match it, as it seems designed with the Rainbow version in mind. The cable is a copper and silver hybrid with modular connectors, including 3.5mm and 4.4mm plugs. You can also purchase a USB-C connector separately. Returning to the IEM, it has a hybrid configuration of 1 Dynamic Driver (DD) + 3 Balanced Armature Drivers (BA), with a sensitivity of 109dB and a 32Ω impedance. In practice, this means the Defiant is an **extremely easy-to-drive**IEM. It reaches high volumes without needing a powerful amplifier. # Important Points During my tests, I didn't notice major differences in sound quality between my computer and my cell phone. However, the story changes completely without the use of a dedicated DAC/Amp. For my tests, I used the Kuba DAC with the Realtek ALC 5686 chip. Without it, the IEM has a background hiss that is annoying during use. # What Everyone Wants to Know: The Sound After dozens of hours of listening, I realized that the Defiant lives in a duality that depends entirely on the listener. If you're coming from entry-level IEMs with a commercial, bass-heavy "V-shape," your first impression of the Defiant might be frustrating. Although it has a very detailed and crystalline sound, it can come across as very restrained and even "bland." But if you're coming from more neutral IEMs or already have more experience, you'll notice its controlled energy and technical musicality. **Bass:** The word that best describes it is **control**. Listening to **Daft Punk**, the drums sound gentle, but the texture and definition of the bassline are excellent. However, when switching to **Black Sabbath**, this polite sound drains some of the rock energy, leaving the presentation more focused on the vocals. With **Slipknot**, the experience becomes unviable; the aggression that is part of their more energetic songs is lost. The Defiant's bass has depth and definition, but I miss the visceral slam. **Mids:** This is the most complex region. Listening to **"The Pot" by Tool**, the Defiant brought out minute details that I hadn't heard on similarly priced IEMs. The instrument separation and clarity were very well-served, with guitar and piano taking center stage. Ozzy's voice in Black Sabbath's songs gains an absurd sense of naturalness. However, in tracks like **"Shine On You Crazy Diamond" by Pink Floyd**, the vocals can sound a bit opaque and lacking strength. This isn't a flaw, but the IEM's signature in action: the mids are purposely relaxed to create a greater sense of depth in the soundstage. **Treble:** This is probably one of the Defiant's main selling points. It solves the problem many technical IEMs face: **detail without pain**. Listening to **"Surfing with the Alien" by Joe Satriani**, the Defiant delivered all the energy and detail of the guitar in a smooth way, without ever approaching shrillness. On **"Aja" by Steely Dan**, the cymbals, though full of texture, remain subtly in the background, exactly as they should be. **Technical Performance:** The soundstage isn't gigantic, but it's very well-defined, with an excellent sense of depth and layering (like an onion or an ogre). On extremely chaotic tracks like **"Forty Six & 2" by Tool** or **"Immigrant Song" by Led Zeppelin**, I felt the separation gave way a little and the instruments seemed to get muddled, but the songs where I had this sensation were very few. It is an IEM with enviable clarity. # Conclusion: The Basics Done Very Well The Juzear Defiant is an exceptionally well-planned IEM. It represents a step of maturity for the budding audiophile, and a fun, casual listen for the more experienced one. The fairest comparison is alongside the titans of the market. It is smoother and more refined in the treble than the **Simgot EA500** and more musical and weightier than the **Truthear Nova**. **I recommend the Juzear Defiant if:** * You are moving up from simpler IEMs and looking for your first big leap in technical refinement. * You value detail, clarity, and a fatigue-free presentation. * Your music library is varied but leans towards genres that benefit from a clean production (Pop, Electronic, Jazz, Progressive Rock). **I do NOT recommend the Juzear Defiant if:** * You are a "basshead" or your main musical diet is Metal, Hardcore, or any genre that depends on visceral impact and energy. * You need the drums to be the most present and powerful instrument in the music. * You are looking for your first IEM and want an immediate "wow" factor without a learning curve. The Defiant is a challenge, as its name suggests. It challenges you to listen to music in a different, more analytical and detailed way. And for those who accept this challenge, the reward is a mature, controlled, and deeply revealing sound experience.

Between the two, I personally prefer the Explorer. The Defiant I heard might’ve been a "weird" unit. Could’ve been unit variation or just a bad seal but I caught a treble peak. Plenty of people in my Discord and a few YouTubers say there’s no peaky stuff (weird). For vocals though, the Defiants can sound more exciting while Explorers are just more relaxing and has more body to it. If you want another option, you could also look at the Truthear Pure I will try to relisten to Defiant if I ever get the chance.

Anyway, the Simgot EW300 is definitely the best sub 10k iem I've tried thus far. I do plan on getting the Juzear Defiants next month, have heard great things about them as well. I have both: If you have powerful DAC/DAP and you love high volume then Explorer 1000% is better (do not buy Defiant in that case cause it has cheap treble drivers which sounds harsh on high power sources) , but if you have cheap or low power source then defiant is very good, especially in pop/rap/rnb music on low volume. I personally prefer Explorer and they are my main IEM until I'll find something better (but seems like it is a problem to find something warm and better than Explorer).

With rock it goes very well. But if you like mid bass it could be a bit underwhelming. I sadly haven't tried the explorer so cannot compare them. Mark from super review just released the defiant review too he compare the defiant to explorer. He says that the bass in defiant is more tactile than the explorer

Both are great, but different. Pure preference I'd say. Explorer works better at higher volumes and is an overall more pleasant listen while Defiant has more complete treble that still doesn't go too far for most.

That's a good question. Not sure I have a fantastic one to rec. Defiant, Odyssey and Explorer all have some great aspects, but not just right. Even a CJV Vivian is better in some ways. MP145 might be as good or even better.

Check out reviews of the Juzear X Zreviews Defiant and see if it'll tick your boxes. They're a superb set for the price and have sweet, sweet bass with a little careful EQ. So - Juzear Defiant. One thought, however - if you can hold off on buying and up your budget to circa $250 on a good day, you could bag the Aful Performer 5+2. Spectacular all round, easy to tune for exactly your library.

Nice collection lol looks so cute and nice 🔥 I dont really have any good suggestions for you apart from the Aria 2, but based on measurements and stuff it seems that the 3.5 mm May has an extremely similar sound to the Aria 2, so if you're looking for something like that, that'd be my bet lol I dont really know too much about other stuff but im hearing good stuff about the Juzears Defiant and the Letshuor S08. Some Simgot stuff is doing the rounds as well I personally would have chosen from 3, the Truthear Pure, Juzears Defiant or the Aful Explorer. The Pure graphs in a cool way and i'd have been interested in trying it out, the Defiant is basically what i'd say the "best" overall, cant really go wrong with it whereas the Explorer is what i'd have wanted if i wanted something mellow. Each with their strengths and weaknesses and stuff but since im quite open to eq, i'd just get the Pure or the Defiant and EQ em down. I personally am the kind of guy to save up for a little while and then use some ONE thing for a long time, for example my Aria which i used for 2-3 years. So if i were looking for things in different price points it'd go like this : Zero:2>Moondrop May>Truthear Pure/Juzear Defiant>Aful P7/Ziigaat Odyssey>Kiwi Ears Astral/DUSK (what i have rn)>Mega5EST So if i were in your situation i'd have saved up for a P7 and just eq'd stuff. I'm curious tho, how do the ARTTI sound? How is the treble/timbre? And how are the technicalities? I think they'll be more technical than most iems under 150 dollars but others will give better timbre. Not too sure tho.

oh yeah the pure are a bit wonky, that's why i recommended the Defiant, i highly doubt you're gonna regret going for them IF you're open to eq. Just eq up the bass if needed and you're good to go. And dang the T10s sound nice! Hmm, im not too sure but i went through something similar with my DUSK. Basically, there's 2 versions of the app, one available on Moondrop's website and the other in playstore. Try using one or the other, i'd recommend the website one if you cant see your device as you can select the product from there by yourself. REALLY annoying! But hey man if it works it works lmao

So glad I listened to two of wired iem dons on this sub reddit I was so close to throwing caution to wind and bought them what I did was increased my budget and got myself a pair of juzear defiant z,s which I absolutely love and after buying some dunu s&s eartips three sets one pair of small medium and large which sat in my dedicated iem and iem related goodness for over two weeks until I decided to have a go at tip rolling which I hate with a passion eventually I found the prefect fit for my funky shaped lug holes I was stunned by the results now I know the exact size I can buy three pairs of the same size. The hype is real which I'm so happy about as £12:uk is quite steep for one solitary pair of eartips.

This is an excellent answer to this post and I could not agree more. Letshuoer S08. Great technicals and a nice, natural mild v-shaped tuning. They sound really great with everything from drum & bass to Hans Zimmer scores. Theyre not exactly power hungry, but they do benefit from a bit more juice than the average set. Or maybe Fiio FH5, especially if you're not opposed to buying 2nd hand. Warmish but natural tuning with really nice technicals and excellent bass, tho a bit more sub-bass than mid bass. A very well balanced all-rounder set, and has been my go-to set for just plugging into the phone and running errands, airporting or whatever. I also really liked the Juzear Defiants, especially in this price range, but they sacrificed technicals for a more energetic and musical sound. Very fun set, just not for critical listening.

1/ Aful Explorer / Juzear Defiant --> Adorable set. Loved by all the community, I bet you'd like it to, it's really beginner friendly, and the warm sound is really good. It's a must have, to me. Both of the sets are a really safe option if you don't know what you like. 2/ Letshouer S12 Pro / Artti T10 (a bit cheaper) -> S12's are probably one of the best budget iems rn, in this segment, they are wonderfully well rounded, treble, bass, and the mids. Well I might be a bit biased, but I absolutely adore Planar bass. Fast, composed, impactful. 3/ Myer Audio Sliivo SLA3 -> One of the best tribrids in this segment, wonderfully done, quality is top notch. But may not suit to your taste. It's quite underrated. 4/ Sivga Que UTG -> it's a really good set, good at analytics. Almost performs like planars that I've heard of, despite it fundamentally being a diddy. (DD) There's also CKLVX CK2V, Kiwi Ears KE4, Simgot Supermix4 and yada yada

TL;DR for those short on time or not inclined to read the entire review # Pros * Punchy, fun, engaging signature with good contrast between bass and treble * Very good bass quality, expansive soundstage and very good imaging as well * The stock cable is excellent * Super comfortable * Price is spot-on # Cons * The treble extension could benefit from a very small boost up top, even though the signature is already well balanced * Not the most detailed set for this price * Nothing else at this price \---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- # Introduction Juzear has definitely catched my attention since I tried the 81T Dragonfly. I am not the type of guy who’s usually hyped by collaborations with content creators, but this time I was curious mainly because of the fact that Juzear was involved. In this review, I will review this collaboration product between the above-mentioned brand and Z Reviews (Zeos) and I will try to compare the IEMs with other products to provide some context. >*Disclaimer: the Juzear x Z Reviews Defiant were sent to me by HiFiGO free of charge so that I could write an honest review. They’re made of 3D printed resin, they are super comfortable and lightweight and the passive isolation is more than enough for most situations. The nozzle is pretty wide though so if you’re someone who’s bothered by bigger nozzles you’ll probably need to use tips with thicker inner tube. https://preview.redd.it/kal8uo7jxfxe1.jpg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=45d47ee7aebcdd5e6a2b64084aff55f2af4269e7 https://preview.redd.it/4b4h3k6jxfxe1.jpg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9b277191195243842b76e3286b92023ef1673098 # Cable The cable looks good, feels sturdy and durable and it also has modular plugs. Both 4.4mm and 3.5mm plugs are included in the box. My only “complaint” is that the chin slider should have a smaller inner diameter in order to press on the cable a bit more, as it loses its position very fast, but other than this minor issue I’m very happy with the stock cable. https://preview.redd.it/qt9k4aekxfxe1.jpg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7099a28495d8153565b6db853df13de30b1f327d # Sound **GEAR USED FOR THE TEST** * DAC: Topping E30  * AMP: Topping L30, Fiio A3 * Mobile phones: Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, Xiaomi Mi A3, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra * Moondrop May’s DSP cable with PEQ=0 * Dongle: Apple Type-C dongle, Fosi DS2, Kiwi Ears Allegro Pro, Tanchjim Stargate 2, Dunu DTC480, Dunu DTC800, Truthear SHIO * Portable DAPs: Snowsky Echo Mini, Benjie S8/AGPTEK M30B * Bluetooth DACs: Snowsky Retro Nano, FiiO BTR11 * Bluetooth Adapters: KBEAR S1, KZ AZ10  * Other sources: Presonus AudioBox iONE, Elgato Wave XLR **Amplifier needed?** The Defiant aren’t very hard to drive so any entry level dongle is enough in order to reach satisfying sound pressure levels. **Let’s speak about the sound.** The Defiant are fun thanks to their punchy and full bodied low-end, a soft recession in the midrange and a lively treble. It’s a colored set for sure, and that means that if you’re searching for a neutral set these are definitely not for you. The sub-bass has good extension, the bass is meaty and tight, with pretty nice textures and decent speed as well, and the attack and decay never feel off. The midrange is slightly recessed but the lower mids aren’t as thin as on other U-shaped sets, meaning that the Defiant can reproduce male vocals and acoustic instruments pretty well. Female vocals are spot-on, never fatiguing, and the treble has good energy yet it never reaches that point in which I find it fatiguing. It’s still on the bright side, but it’s a well-balanced brightness also thanks to a healthy amount of low-end. The detail retrieval is generally good for the price range, even though it’s not the most detailed set that you can buy in this price tag. The soundstage is pretty wide and deep with decent height, and the imaging and layering are pretty good too and easily compete with similarly priced sets. **Are they something I would use considering my taste and preferences?** Yes, yes, yes. I like the tuning, I like the fact that the low-end is punchy and very tight and I love the energetic sound that these reproduce. It’s not that “full basshead” tuning with bass shelf and nothing else, it’s a complete package that features a healthy and fun-sounding low-end along with a nice balance between all the other frequencies. It’s a keeper for me. # Some comparisons: **Juzear x Z Reviews Defiant (1DD+3BA) vs Truthear HEXA (1DD+3BA)** >The HEXA are more towards the neutral side, with slightly more forward upper mids, less emphasized low-end and a bit more treble quantity. The Defiant are punchier, warmer, more U-shaped and with a more contrasty sound, resulting in a more engaging and exciting approach with respect to the leaner-sounding HEXA. The technical performance is good on both sets, with the Defiant being a bit more precise at imaging and soundstage and the HEXA being slightly more resolving when it comes to detail and small nuances. The build quality is good on both sets and the same applies for comfort and isolation. The Defiant come with a better stock cable. **Juzear x Z Reviews Defiant (1DD+3BA) vs Kiwi Ears Airoso (1DD+4BA)** >The Airoso are a bit thicker sounding in the low-end with a slightly slower bass yet more extended sub-bass. The Defiant sound tighter and with a better bass punch instead, and they sound more “contrasty” overall. The lower midrange is a touch thicker on the Airoso whereas the upper mids are more lively and exciting on the Defiant. The treble is generally more extended and present on the Airoso, with a bit more air on top. The detail retrieval is very similar, maybe the Airoso have a very small edge over the Defiant but it’s a negligible difference in my opinion. The soundstage is slightly wider on the Airoso, deeper on the Defiant with similar height. The imaging is good on both but the Defiant are slightly better at pinpointing. The Defiant look better but the build quality is great on both sets. Comfort and isolation are good on both sets, I’d say it’s a draw in this regard. The stock cable of the Defiant is a lot better and also has modular plugs. The tips’ selection is a bit wider with the Airoso. Overall, I find the Defiant more fun and engaging to listen to, so they would be my pick over the two (and they are also cheaper than the Airoso). **Juzear x Z Reviews Defiant (1DD+3BA) vs Simgot EM6L (1DD+4BA)** >In a nutshell, the EM6L are leaner and more neutral with a brighter treble and slightly superior resolution. The Defiant instead have a more emphasized sub-bass response, slightly fuller sounding female vocals and a less bright treble. Overall, the EM6L are still a bit better when it comes to detail retrieval and perceived resolution, and the imaging is a touch better as well (even though the difference is not night and day). The Defiant instead are better in terms of soundstage width and depth, and they are more fun to listen to, with a more impactful bass due to the more contrasty signature. The build quality is great on both sets, but the EM6L have QDC connectors which are not ideal for most people. In terms of packaging and accessories, the Defiant win hands down, even though the EM6L come with a pretty good cable as well (although not as good as the one included with the Defiant). Comfort is good on both but the EM6L don’t have any nozzle lip so the tips keep popping off when you remove the IEMs from your ears, unless you find tighter tips that have a “stickier” inner tube. The passive isolation of the Defiant is better. I like the Defiant more for my daily routine, but the EM6L are still slightly better when it comes to those finer details. **Juzear x Z Reviews Defiant (1DD+3BA) vs Celest Relentless (1DD+6BA)** >The Relentless are more V-shaped, they have a thinner midrange and a more emphasized treble while having a similarly tuned low-end. The Defiant sound thicker with better lower mids’ body and timbre and more natural female vocals, and they have a smoother and more tolerable upper range frequencies for most people, even though this comes at the expense of some small nuances which the Relentless, instead, can portray very easily. In terms of soundstage, the Defiant have a deeper portrayed soundscape, whereas the Relentless are a touch better in terms of width and height. In terms of imaging, the Defiant is have a slight edge over the Relentless. The perceived resolution is superior on the Relentless, as said above when speaking about the treble, although this obviously comes at the expense of a more fatiguing/less natural sound. The build quality and design are great on both sets, they both come with great cables that feature modular plugs and they both come with a decent set of tips. Comfort and isolation are very similar as well. I prefer the Defiant most of the times, but I still reach for my Relentless here and there when I want even more sparkle and air on top. If I had to buy one of the two, then I’d definitely pick a pair of Defiant because of their more versatile tuning. # Final Thoughts If you still haven’t understood my thoughts about the Defiant (even though it should be pretty clear from everything I’ve said above), then I'll state it here: I like the Defiant. I like the overall balance that Juzear and Zeos managed to strike, with a very tight and impactful low-end yet, vivid upper-mids and treble and a softly recessed midrange that doesn’t really impact the overall listening experience, giving just a bit more space to the low-end and upper-end to push a bit more forward and providing for a very engaging and contrasty signature. The listing price is also correct for what the product offers, especially considering the set of accessories, the cable with modular plugs, and the great looking and well build earpieces. The Juzear x Z Reviews Defiant get an easy recommendation for me and I’m pretty sure that many will enjoy them as much as I did.

Best value? Given that I haven't tried the T10 (only the T10 Pro, which are fine), I cannot speak about them but many consider them the pinnacle of budget planars. Here's my (personal) value picks list from 0 to 150$ more or less (will also mention one planar for each bracket): 1. KZ ZVX Pro: it's just impossible to beat these, you can buy them for like 5$ at AliExpress with some coupons or welcome deals and you get all metal build, a well tuned set with decent technicalities for the price and something that, although not breaking the bank, will last long and you won't give a frick you somehow lose them since they cost like a cup of coffee. 2. Under 50: my favourite in terms of signature is the CCA Trio in the UUUU (or 1111) switches config, whereas the EW200 are what I would buy for a bit more resolution. The SGOR Luna and PRX are options as well, but they have some tonal quirks that may not appeal to you. 3. Under 100$: Juzear x Z Reviews Defiant for a versatile, punchy and tight set, Truthear HEXA for resolution, a neutral bright tonality and detail retrieval, Truthear PURE for a neutral/warm set with pretty thick lower end and non-fatiguing treble. Planars? Well, yeah, the F1 Pro for NiceHCK is very solid but it has a tinge of metallic timbre in the treble (other than that, it's SUPER solid). 4. Under 150$: Kefine Quatio for a thick and warm hybrid set with good technical chops, Tanchjim Fission for the best single DD experience and technicalities in this price range, along with an excellent neutral tuning (and some fine tuning thanks to the nozzle filters and bass screw). And then there are also many other sets that are worth a mention, such as the Wan'er S.G. II, the Kefine Klean, the Dunu Titan S2 and Kima 2, the Moondrop May, the AFUL Explorer... So many choices out there nowadays.

In my personal experiencia, the one i would pick for everyday use as a safe comfortable pick would be Puls Unicrom. Is a crowd pleaser, balanced, slightly bassy, V-shape but vocals are decent enough, very comfortable and nice quality accessories, including a compact but usable and secure carrying case, and good looking sturdy resin shell, humidity should not be a problem either. Now, vocals might not be the most present, but the other iems i know with nice vocals arent as balanced OR as convenient. Titan S2 from dunu is basically near the same in terms of comfort durability and accesories, it has a metal shell too, but vocals might be too energetic for you, is quite intense in that regard, good, very good, Wouldnt recomend it if "chillin" with them is a must. There is also Kima 2, is very vocal focused but more smooth and tammed, same nice accessories, tho is $120 msrp so gotta hunt it on a sale for $100, S2 you easily find it for $65 or less (absolute value). Oh, though, neither really lean into bass as much as they lean into vocals, even a bit bright depending on how sensitive you are. Alternatively, Kefine Delci is bassy leaning too, but well balanced, comfortable, accessories arent as well regarded But work, tho again, vocals a bit on the back and also a metal shell (those are quite common at $80 price range). Maybe Simgot EW300 is the most balanced, is quite nice overall and well liked but accessories are really not an strong point, vocals would certainly be quite present. If you wanna keep it budget, ill say you probably would be fine with something like Salnotes Zero 2 instead of a $50 iem, most of them have one possible major downside from comfort to durability, and most arent really bass leaning either (no idea why, but it is what it is). If you really want balanced and vocals consider Tangzu XuanNV or Juzear Defiant but i honestly dont know how well comfort works for them Which i think is a major deciding factor if you plan to daily drive them.

Only iem that released this year that I bought was the Juzear X Defiant. I really like it, the tuning is great and I ended up loving the included cable so it kinda gets my vote by default. If I had the means to try out many iems ,I am pretty sure it might be something else but I am happy with what I have.

Go with Juzear Defiant, it’s definitely a keeper IEM and if you want also throw in a $7 priced EDC Pro with it. Together these two will definitely help you on you road to find out your listening preferences. I still use my EDC Pro as a beater set outside, amazing value, punches way above it’s weight class

Letshuoer S08 over the EW300 for Rock & Jazz any day (it does everything the EW300 does but better - more balanced, faster & more defined bass, a more natural non metallic timbre, it’s smoother, vocal’s & midrange are also much better & more naturally placed.) - better at music thats older and sounds more organic/analog so rock really shines, most natural sounding out of the ones I’ve mentioned. Juzear Defiant if you want a big emphasis on vocals & sub bass specifically (I found them good for pop, ballads & classical and just ok at everything else but in terms of layering they can do modern metal fairly well) i find the midrange / mid bass not quite weighty or lush enough for me and the treble can be quite peaky but that’s just my personal preference. - it’s cleaner and less organic but more digital sounding imo so this is better with modern mixes. Aful Explorer I definitely prefer these over the Defiant it has brilliant imaging, textures and sub bass, clean sounding overall but the midrange can seem quite flat until you scale it with more power then it really comes alive and more dynamic. Treble is quite dark but very smooth so it depends on what you prefer in the treble. Brilliant at hip hop, dance, r&b, edm, pop etc but I’d still go with the S08’s for rock & jazz specifically. - it’s still fairly modern sounding i think due to the tilt in sub bass but the mid range does sound far more natural & neutral than the defiants but it’s still better overall with modern mixes imo.

Something of great quality, but that I wouldn't mind wearing out and about, or is worthy of listening indoors. I had originally purchased the Elise Audio x Kinera Celest - Dark Phoenix, for this bracket. And although I LOVE the sound on these, I have had nothing but trouble, tip rolling to death to get a good seal and fit, and also the discomfort/physical fatigue begins within an hour of wearing. So I needed an alternative. I had heard mentioned a few times, the defiant as well regarded by users. I had also seen some positive professional reviews for them as well. Lastly, They're So Pretty! That really shouldn't be such a large point when purchasing IEMs, but I have to admit, it is one of my weaknesses when considering purchasing IEMs. I saw the jade coloured ones which hit me as extremely bright and vibrant, however I don't like green, plus I knew they came with the blue/pink cable, so I picked the Rainbow colour scheme to match. So I ordered them... I waited... they came... I got excited... I opened them... I tried them for a week... I came to tell you about it! First of all unboxing. Nice cover sleeve, black with colourful image and name imprinted. Rice paper insert under lid with holographic Juzear logo. Comes with a really lovely, textured look faux brown leather hardcase. Spacious and striking to look at. Cable feels like a high quality, twisted type cable. After the V the cable is just straight, out to earhooks, although internally you can still see the cabling in twisted form, though the insulation is smooth and straight. The cable is heavy enough to feel like decent quality, not so heavy that it is difficult to manoeuvre. The IEMs look fantastic, with a mother of pearl effect rainbow pattern, differing for each side, with overlay of the Juzear symbol and waves in silver. Resin shells, faceplate appears to be sealed within resin so see no reason for this to fall off at any point. Size wise, I would say they have a small footprint, but are quite deep to accommodate the driver arrangement (1DD+3BA) Includes 6 sets of silicone ear tips, in red and grey, and white, and also one pair of white foam tips. I generally don't get on with foam, I will try these at some point though, just haven't yet. The silicone tips are passable, but not special in any way. The bore is neither wide nor narrow, and they sit naturally on the nozzle, not deep or shallow. Fit and comfort. They fit really well and tight, with deep insertion via the nozzle into the ear canal, I have to be careful not to push too hard and cause any pain. Despite having quite an angular shell design, I can use these for 2 - 2.5 hours in one go and not suffer any discomfort or physical fatigue. They just seem to be the right and forgiving shape for me The Defiant has an impedance of 32ohm, and a sensitivity of 109db. To my experience, the impedance is at the high end of normal and the sensitivity about average for IEMs. I found with the 3.5mm jack, they required a bit of extra volume to achieve my normal listening level. However with 4.4mm balance plug on a Fiio M11, they appear easy to drive and I had no issues listening with plenty of volume at my normal settings The sound signature based on the frequency response graph, suggest quite a strong V with scooped mids, but as we know these should often be considered guidelines as individual IEMs, and also the users physical makeup and hearing sensitivities can often moot professed sound signatures. I have used [Hangout.Audio](http://Hangout.Audio) FR graph for the defiant for illustration. I find the bass end to be as promised; emphasised. The midrange I find more forward than the graph suggests, and treble is roughly as advertised in the graph for which I will go into more detail shortly. The timbre seems generally warm, but comes across as buzzy along the midrange, and can come across as hollow feeling for certain instruments in the upper mids. The prize of the defiant for me belongs to the bass end of the spectrum. There is a bit of roll off I can detect toward the sub bass region. Meaning In certain tracks where I know the sub bass starts low, the defiant will start representing the bass higher than I expected. But mid bass is rumbly, powerful without being overstated, and well textured. Definitely one of the more bass heavy, out of the box tunings I have experienced, but the way it's been executed works, and I love them for this. The mids are slightly more forward than the FR graph will have you believe, they are however soft due to the scoop in sound signature. The dip is just not as pronounced as the FR graph states, to my ear. Mids however will start to buzz and muddy if there is too much mid bass going on at the same time, or if the mids of a particular song are very busy. At the top end, the overall listening experience appears to me, to be the beginning of what one could describe as sparkly. Really quite special and engaging and fun at the right frequencies. Presence area of 4-6khz very forward and composed. Unfortunately in Brilliance (6-20khz) you will see on the frequency response graph a swinging back and forth to try and sustain the overall high level of brilliance. The effect this ends up having is that for the most part, the brilliance area is forward, and handled reasonably, but there are certain frequencies that come across quite sharp. I must say the driver arrangement handles even the busiest top end ensembles very well, with, to me, no detectable bleed, softness or muddying. Last word is; imaging wise, the Defiant seems easily as strong and wide as my Moondrop Meteors. However the price point and emphasised sound signature shows itself, when you consider they lack a little in terms of micro detail, or lack emphasis in the details they do pick up. Such as finer electronic effects or percussive strikes of instruments. I wont even address soundstage, as historically, regardless of what I am listening with, I have some deficiency where I cannot detect soundstage. Conclusion. I am very happy and impressed with the Juzear Defiant, I'm pretty sure, for the time being at least, it has cemented it's position as a daily driver for me. The defiant, I would say has no 'faults', but a couple of deficiencies that can be justified by the price point. That being the buzzy, and sometimes muddy (if stressed,) mids & the sharpness at certain high frequencies. But those aside, they are strong performers, with a great, fun sound. Far outperforming their price. Looking for something not cheap, but in 2 figures, that outperforms its price point. Don't mind a bit of strong bass flavour, with well (but not amazing) performing mids and treble, and also gorgeous to look at !?.... Give The Defiant a go.

I think I'd recommend the Aful Explorer, Juzear Defiant, Artti T10 Pro (not the non pro) or Letshouer S08. Defiant might be too bright for metal, but it does depend on your tolerance/preference on the upper end. I'd go with the T10 Pro or S08 personally for mostly metal listening, though still good with other genres.

Had a really similar first impression with the Defiant. It sounded bright at first, like it was too splashy with the cymbals. Bass was weak. Had to tip roll a lot. Best one for me was the stock Aful tips! Bass just feels tight and more impactful.

Have a look at Kefine Delci. Very similar to the EW300. Hits the right spots for busy genres but retaining clarity for vocals and instrumental separation. Treble doesn’t roll off so retains enough shine and brightness and not feeling muddy with a bass elevation that you’re looking for. Could look at Kefine Quatro or Juzear Defiant too, around $120 and $100 (20-30 less on sale).

Ok, think the Juzear Defiant covers the both best. This is closer to the Aria 2. Treble is pretty close, with better presence region extension which should provide a better soundstage and sense of openness. Otherwise the Truthear Hexa does a bit of both too, lower end bit warmer than Orchestra’s but quite neutral but better upper mids, like Aria 2. Treble is balanced and smooth. Aful Explorer is a great set; great bass and natural mids but smoothed out and less presence in upper mids and treble/presence region. For rock/metal it won’t have as forward or a greater contrast between the instruments/vocals which will be more subdued. Could miss that richness and clarity, as it offers chilled & relaxing vibe.

I am sitting here right now listening to the Juzear Defiants that I bought months ago when they came out. I haven't used them in about 2 weeks and my mind was blown once again when I put them in this morning. In my opinion, as sub $100 iems they are the ones to get right now. I even recommend them to people who have $200 to spend. Side note: I have the EW300s and use them regularly and love them but it's obvious when I put on the Defiants that they are a step above.

I am not going to recommend the Simgot EW300 even though they are fantastic and I absolutely love them and use them pretty regularly. No, if your budget goes to 100 then Juzear Defiant full stop. I've seen them on sale for 70 and **in my opinion** are hands down the best sub 100 IEMs you can buy today. #1 Personally, I'm going to have to go with the Xenns Mangrid Top Pro. For the price, you truly are getting an End Game quality IEM. Staging, Detail Retrieval, Textured bass and Vocals that you don't only hear, but feel. Non Fatiguing set that I can listen to for extended periods without issue. You truly get lost in the music with this set. #2 Runner up for me would have to be the Juzear X Defiant. I honestly thought it was just hype. But for 89 bucks, this set just completely punches above its price tag as well. It is a great casual or starter set to have for recommendations or any collection. Balanced and comes with a great tuning. What surprised me the most was just how crisp the vocals were without being muddied by the bass. #3 Is actually the IEM I listen to the most. The Kiwi Ears Astral. This set is a masterpiece for the price. The standard EQ is amazing, but this set just EQs so well that it can transform into whatever you ask it to. Want bass? EQ It to match the Punch Audio Martillo. Want an amazing vocal and technical set? EQ it to match the Mystic 8 *highly recommend* It's been a great year for IEMs so far. Price to Performance has definitely been the theme this year.

How about VS the BGVP DMA? I've seen your comments here in this sub about having it and I recently got curious about the DMAs.Backstory is: I commented on a Youtube Video about the Martilos and mentioned that I'm currently enjoying my Juzear Defiants but I wanted something with a more hard-hitting bass and wouldn't mind more sparkle in the treble but I wasn't sure if the price jump from $100(defiants) to $300(martilos) was worth it and the reviewer recommended the DMAs instead of the Martilos for me. I never owned a set past $100 (TruthEar Zero Reds, ISN H20, Juzear Defiants) and the reviewer said that the DMAs are exactly what I'm looking for and that the price at $300 is for sure worthy. And all of the reviews I've seen about the DMAs are all solid but I haven't heard anyone compare it VS the Martilos so I'm hoping you would help. Regarding the Armor I'm not sure if I would like the treble on it because someone said that the Martilos treble is better. Apologies for the long comment and thank you hahaha.

If you want bass on an IEM, I own a pair of ISN H20s as my second sets and these deliver on that regard. But the treble can be somewhat lacking for me and I feel like the vocals sound unnatural compared to my first sets which were the Zero Reds. If you want something as an all-rounder, textured and punchy bass, present mids and natural sounding vocals, clarity and sense of air on the treble, with good instrument separation, I recommend the 3rd sets I just recently owned, the Juzear Defiants. This is great for all genres I've thrown at it so far. (Mostly listening to HipHop, RnB, EDM, House, Alt-Pop, J-Pop, K-Pop, Gospel, Acoustic Live sessions) But if you really want something with tons of bass look into ISN H20. Great for movies and single player games as well because of the rumble feeling with the bass.

I use my Defiants more. When A/B testing them both I just felt this weird sound on the vocals and treble on the H20s that sounded dark, can't really say if it sounded muddy, because it still has the instrument separation, but the overall tone of the sound is way different and sounds unnatural. I first noticed it on snare hits, and when I A/B tested it, noticed it on the vocals as well. I think this is because of the midbass, that's why it's affecting the overall tone. And sometimes it can sound sibilant on "s" sounds too. But I got an EQ from a reddit user which he got from Ducbloke, and it fixed all the issues I was hearing with the H20s while still retaining that deep bass. But the Defiants still win on the smooth treble and the instrument clarity and separation, after EQing the H20s, they just win on the bass department. The Defiants really are an all-rounder set though and for me the bass is never lacking which tends me to not go back to the H20s. For Hip-hop, RnB, and EDM the H20s with EQ win by a small margin but for everything else the Defiants. But when I first got the H20s it kept putting a smile on my face because of the amount of Bass it has. Felt like you were in a car with a subwoofer. My experience with both IEMs led me to my next goal, which are the Punch Audio Martilos, because reviews keep saying it's a Basshead IEM that retains a correct tone on the vocals and clarity in the treble which seems to be my preffered tuning although haven't tried them yet. Apologies for the long comment, just wanted to be clear about the H20s because there's no reviews about it on Youtube, only here in Reddit. Hope it helps your purchasing decision.
