"I have the mic boom option and regret it. ... The weight of the boom is enough to cause the earpiece to constantly shift out of the desired placement in my ear. ... Found it annoying and nearly trashed it just cos of that."
"whenever they touch something, there are frustrating 'booping' and harsh noises. ... This is not very pleasant for your teammates."
"I've heard many times that they are fragile. ... You can pull on them with too much strength and even break the connection between the cable and the mic inside the mic arm (I'm not sure what to call that part). ... This happens because they are very thin, which is necessary since weight is a significant factor for them."

I got Dunu Titan S2 and a set of Wyvern Black. 4 sets of cables. Nothing too exciting. Just starting out in my journey😂
r/iems • Share your Spring Sale Purchase!!! ->I WHOLE HEARTEDLY AGREE WITH YOUR POINTS: https://preview.redd.it/vwxf7i53neye1.jpeg?width=2377&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9aafdf70e38f01e9e6e88692e4c7f79caca103d8 This is MY collection...and I'm very early in the journey. I don't have the budget, knowledge or experience to blind buy a 500USD+ set of in ears that may or may not fit my ears or my preferences. While my journey doesn't completely fit OP's blueprint...I have/had the same thought process regarding purchasing IEMs. Not pictured are the Moondrop Chu 2 and 7Hz Sonus. I started with the Chu 2, 7Hz Zero 2 and Kiwi Ears Cadenza. From listening, watching and reading reviews...I was able to learn about all the terms, labels, and vocabulary to describe what I like or don't like. I threw money at the Wyvern Abyss...I mean...LOOK AT THEM😂. The Kz Castor Bass was a curiosity buy...want to hear if a set touting bass response was really that bassy. My next steps were the NiceHCK F1 Pros, Kiwi Ears Canta and the 7Hz Sonus. The F1 Pros and the Sonu were on sale at the time of purchase...good value and able to narrow things down more for myself. I knew I liked the planar sound...I have a set of open ear planar cans. The F1s felt disappointing (until I tip rolled) The Sonus was about much for my taste (in the mids) The Cantas were quite nice for me. By this point...I had a good grasp of what I was looking for and the direction (s) I want to go in. AFUL Performer 5+2 is currently my go-to...for all around listening. Sourced from R2R DAC lined out into a desktop tube amp. It's like a warm blanket on crisp bright and snowy winter day. I picked up the Hexa because I wanted to hear the hype...and yes...they definitely fulfill the hype and then some. I've EQed my IEMs... especially the planar. They can mimic the sound...but it's only a part of the equation. I now rotate through 3-4 sets at my desktop listening station. The cheapo ones all have 3.5mm out for around the house or for bed. If they break...ill decide if I want to replace. Tip rolling is a journey of itself. Some tips can dramatically change an IEM and rescue it from the bottom of the pile. My Planars now sport foam tips...easing off the treble was huge. Anyway...long post...if you got this far thanks for sticking with my diarrhea of words. TLDR: I agree with the OP
r/iems • How to Actually Learn What You Like in IEMs (and Why One Mid-Tier IEM or EQ Won’t Teach You) ->Can’t say what’s the objective best but I love my Celeste wyvern abyss’s
r/iems • Best IEM’s for under $100? ->Not the Wyvern Abyss actually. It looks so much better in photos than it does IRL in most lighting. Without a really strong light source, it just looks black. With a strong light it looks quite glittery and a bit cheap. Still an 8/10 in perfect lighting conditions though. It's hard to say which is my favourite. Some top picks are Aful MagicOne, Ikko OH10, Simgot EA1000 and EPZ Q1.
r/iems • What is your favorite beautiful looking IEM? ->Have these myself and really like them. There are some people that don't take the custom shape of the shells very well, but for me they are super comfy using saincai tips. I'd say go for it, they look awesome as well. (edit: can't spell)
r/iems • Kinera celest wyvern black. Is it worth buying? ->I paid 20 bucks for my Celest Wyvern Black, the best budget iem I ever had, looks and sounds expensive
r/iems • What is your favorite beautiful looking IEM? ->For $12 usd, thats a steal. imo, they sound great and I like the cable it comes with. But a problem for me was that the nozzle was too short and I couldn't get a very good seal so i had to change the tip to a different one and push it somewhat deep into my ear.
r/iems • Kinera celest wyvern black. Is it worth buying? ->Celest wyvern black and Cadenza would be my choice, i personally own the Cadenza, and am pretty happy with them. Though make sure that the earphones fit you well, like if you have smaller ears, probably the CHU || DSP would work better for you then the Cadenza or Wyvern black. Also the tips do play an important role in the fit of the iems. Lastly, i didn't mention Waner 2s because I didn't feel the sound to be that good also the fit was bad for me even after using all different combinations of the FIIO HS19 ear tips.
r/iems • Best out of these as first IEM ? ->Not a big fan. I have these and the Celeste Wyvern Black and I much prefer the Wyvern Black's Much more balanced and clear
r/iems • Thoughts on the Zero 2 Crinacle IEMs? ->All of them have own advantages. All good just consider better deal and your preference of sound. Waner 2 is a good package for its content otherwise its on par with others. Wyvern is good looker, though fit can be issue as it quite large, I returned them due to this but I'd say best sounding in the 4. Cadenza is all rounder OK. CHU2 is good due to DSP.
r/iems • Best out of these as first IEM ? ->I had these but needed to send em back. Bad fit for me. Otherwise, really good for the money. Its a steal for the price! Go for it I would say
r/iems • Kinera celest wyvern black. Is it worth buying? ->They are beautiful indeed but once you get used to high end IEMs you can easily recognize that the Wyvern Abyss isn't one, the biggest tell being that expensive IEMs are rarely ever that small.
r/iems • What is your favorite beautiful looking IEM? ->Totally worth! I would still pay full price. If you can, take a look at my impressions of it and also of the other three Wyvern models (OG, Qing and Blue Ed.) https://www.reddit.com/r/iems/s/FsWhcE8tyL

r/iems • Kinera celest wyvern black. Is it worth buying? ->Kinera Celest Wyvern (Abyss/ Black) - Cheap in price but punch well above their pricetag - Great All-rounder Kinera Celest IgniteX - Bright ish well done V shaped, technically capable lil Beast - Top under 50 SGOR Luna - Best Budget Magnetic Planar Juzear Clear - Great Bassy iem - In quantity and quality.
r/iems • What are the best IEM's under 50 dollars? ->I currently have wan ‘er, qkz x hbb, and kinera celest wyvern black. Just had truthear gates and zero red come in which I’ve yet to try. At the moment kinera has been my daily since it has a boom mic but it is the most uncomfortable one. Causes so much pain in right ear lol so maybe I’ll look into tips for it.
r/iems • IEM Mega Pick List Update 2 (Sub $50/$100/$200?). ->Yeah actually I've been eyeing wyvern abyss instead of chu 2, and since I'm a monster hunter fan i think it looks cool af. Additionally, i heard they have good build quality and good sound. But the only downside is, the mic option for it has worse looking cables than the non mic
r/iems • which one should I get ? ->I’ve tried all of these and personally own all except the chu I would say the wan er is the best bang for your buck package, they’re all competitive with each other in terms of sound. Personally I like the sound of the cadenzas the most but the wan er comes with by far the most comfortable best performing eartips.
r/iems • Best out of these as first IEM ? ->Chu 2 and Wan'er 2 are a good start, but I'll go with Wan'er because of its more mature tuning and Moondrop build quality will really disappoint you in the long run Cadenza used to be my go to pick, but with Wan'er 2 existing, I dont see the point anymore Wyvern abyss is...a massive turn off tuning wise, the upper mids is too much for my ears, doesnt sound right
r/iems • Best out of these as first IEM ? ->I have wyvern abyss, bought them after zero's. Compared to them, wyvern is muddier with less detailed bass and and less punch in it. Reds are good, but bass will be better only with adapter, which is deal-breaker for some. Especially, if you want to use them with some kind of tws adapters.
r/iems • Which one should I buy? ->I had the XM4s (lost them recently) and SM4. Tested them back to back for a bit and the Simgots quite noticeably better than any TWS earbud I've tried. Nearly every IEM I've bought is either comparable or better than the Sonys. Even the $20 Wan'Er & Wyvern Abyss have some points where they're noticeably better while not being worse in any other area. The SM4 isn't even on the same plane of existence though. They sound better to me than budget audiophile headphones and BT wireless headsets like the Airpods Max. Better resolution, more thump, better soundstage, blew all my other sets out of the water. I'm probably going to grab a cheap BT wireless adapter set for my WanErs for flights rather than investing again into TWS. I used my SM4s on my last flight and they were great other than the wire. I probably could have gotten away with using another IEM but I was totally in the honeymoon period with my SM4s.
r/iems • How good are iems compared to high end earbuds? ->I would choose Wyvern Abyss. Loads of quality sound for that $30.
r/iems • Which iem's are the best out of these as beginner? ->I never found them to be uncomfortable or cheaply made.
r/iems • Which iem's are the best out of these as beginner? ->They have a level of clarity that many IEMs and headphones can't match and a great neutrally balanced sound.
r/iems • Which iem's are the best out of these as beginner? ->wyvern have not really nice cable and quality, tangzu wan er much better for this price (sound quality also better in my opinion) edit: mistake
r/iems • Confused to choose between them for Competitive Gaming under 30 dollars range. ->It’s surprising that you found the Kiwi Ears Cadenzas, thin. Have you tried the Celeste Wyvern Abyss? To me it’s warmer than the Cadenza.
r/iems • Seeking recommendations for a warm, lush sound ->100%!!! These are amazing for the price. IMO worth more.
r/iems • Kinera celest wyvern black. Is it worth buying? ->Sorry I might not be able to help you there as I don't use any of my IEMs for gaming - strictly music. With that said, the Wyverns, IMO, have amazing clarity, nice punchy bass, and maybe a bit of harshness of treble depending on the song. I imagine for role playing games they sound amazing but for shooters... IDK. But, $25 or less, I say give them a try.
r/iems • Kinera celest wyvern black. Is it worth buying? ->I 100 % agree with your assessment. I read so many articles and posts praising the Reds so they were my first purchase and... I just don't hear it. Disappointed 100%. Tip rolling did improve the sound but it was still unsatisfying. It was just so... bland. I then bought Celest Wyvern Black for $25 and wow, what a difference. So clear, punchy bass, and in overall, a great sounding IEM. This led me to purchase the following: Celest Relentless, KZ PRX, KZ Zenith, and Kiwi Ears Aether. All sound amazing. While some on the list are more expensive than then the Reds, PRX (planar) and the aforementioned Wyvern are cheaper and both are leaps and bounds better than the Reds
r/iems • Disappointed with the Truthear Zero Red IEMs ->They both sound good. But if I'm honest I don't like them that much. Once I bought the tangzu waner sg it lacked bass and non enjoyable treble with the high frequencys just hurting my ears. the design isn't anything special with just plastic. And the cable looks like after 1 stretch it is in 2 pieces but I just got them for 8 dollars from aliexpress. Now the Kinera. They felt Alot more premium and sounded also. It had a more enjoyable sound with a more warm sound with actually noticable bass and it sounds amazing with modern hip hop. But they lack when it comes to songs like oh yeah by yello, policy of truth by Depeche mode. So generally has a nice but non energetic bass, but if I say I don't like the tangzu waner sg but I haven't tried all music genres so if possible give me some genres that sound good on these Iems. But I think my next Iems will be the kiwi ears cadenza since they have a more energetic signature. But if I'm wrong recommend me some Iems to satisfy the problems I had. And the ratings: tangzu waner 5/10 Kinera celest 7/10
r/iems • Review of the Kinera celest Wyvern black and tangzu waner sg ->Thanks a lot list! Based on your recommendation, I took Wywern Black. Please tell me, is it worth considering something from the list if there is Wyvern? Will the increase in sound quality be noticeable or is it better to watch something from a more expensive segment? I was thinking about buying another Simgot EW300 or Moondrop May
r/iems • !THE SUB $100 IEM MEGA PICK LIST! ->Yes, I still use them switching between Wyvern Abyss. Zero: Red seems a little tough to drive as compared to Wyvern Abyss, so when I'm not gaming, I switch to Zero: Red.
r/iems • TruthEar x Crinacle ZERO: RED in 2024 ->I'm fine gaming on my Wyvern Abyss tho. It's only 1DD but so far its soundstage and imaging is quite remarkable for both gaming and music. You should check it out.
r/iems • Opinions for gaming? ->Even at its intro price of 30ish dollars its a buy, I've had mine for a good while, I still use it regularly! At that price its quite a bargain.
r/iems • Kinera celest wyvern black. Is it worth buying? ->Wyvern blacks good
r/iems • Confused to choose between them for Competitive Gaming under 30 dollars range. ->Some people dislike that the nozzles on the chu 2 are unlacquered brass and if they get wet will start to get some green oxides. That's literally it. You can wipe the nozzles off every now and then with a paper towel. Also the chu 2 has replaceable filters, unlike anything else. Chu 2 is by far the best all rounder. Wan'er are a total tier down and kz is a shady company not worth supporting (the castor is only okay too) The only $20 options in the same tier as the chu 2 are the kinera wyvern and the tanchjim bunny
r/iems • which one should I get ? ->I don't have the beast, but I would say the wyvern is as good. Bear in mind that cost isn't always a mark of higher quality. Chu 2, wyvern or tanchjim bunny are my votes
r/iems • which one should I get ? ->I'd take the Wyvern or look at the 7Hz Zero2. The Wan'er sounds like a paper cone speaker in the mids. No real detail despite having volume there. The Cadenza costs double the Wan'er and sounds worse. Muddy bass with no texture, blurry mids, and peaky treble that still manages to not get in the way. All cymbals sound the same. Just a slow driver overall. I own them all and I've tried them all with many different sets of tips.
r/iems • Best out of these as first IEM ? ->The Wyvern's mids are aggressive, and has a great amount of sub bass. I'm a mid-head. I love clean, clear, accurate mids. These are just a bit of all three but at the price point, I can't complain. Divinus Wides and the mids get *real* aggressive. Melodic death metal guitar work... hell, any distorted guitar just pops. So do electronic synths that are meant to bite and dig. Energetic treble without being harsh or piercing. The 7Hz Zero2 are, I feel, a more universal recommendation in terms of signature. V-shaped enough to capture a TWS enjoyer, but not so sucked out that the mids feel like an afterthought. It's a minor revelation to the beginner hobbyist while also being a pretty well performing unit at its price and beyond. The Tripowin Vivace is worth considering. One of my favorites, the KBEar KB01, is a no-brainer.
r/iems • Best out of these as first IEM ? ->I'd pick the Wyvern here or the Truthear zero blue 2 tbh
r/iems • Confused to choose between them for Competitive Gaming under 30 dollars range. ->I love that set! Beautiful to look at and very comfortable. However, to my ears, the bass too thumpy and some sounds get lost in the sauce. I find that they're more fun for immersion but not too much for competitive tac shooters
r/iems • My first budget iem for gaming ->I love that set! Beautiful to look at and very comfortable. However, to my ears, the bass too thumpy and some sounds get lost in the sauce. I find that they're more fun for immersion but not too much for competitive tac shooters
r/iems • My first budget iem for gaming ->Wyvern is better for smoother, more relaxed listening. Balanced leaning barely bright. It’s a great set. Castors (both) are better for that analytical listening. Bass version is better for that more bassy kind of listen while Silver is better for that more detail oriented listening. If your looking for a warm super bassy listen, consider the KZ Dawn Silver.
r/iems • KZ Castor Pro (Harman & Bass) vs Kinera Celest Wyvern ->Out of the 3? Wyvern. It’s a great set but it has smooth details so it’s not the most analytical set. Castor Silver has less sub bass than the Wyvern. Castor silver is also more bright leaning with sharper details. If you want a smooth relaxing set, the Wyvern and IgniteX Beast are great sets for that. The Castor Silver is more bright and analytical. I personally would pick the Wyvern for a relaxed and smooth listen. I have all the IEM’s mentioned above.
r/iems • KZ Castor Pro (Harman & Bass) vs Kinera Celest Wyvern ->Only heard the Wyvern: I bought these for my GF, and tested them for a day. They are a nice set that played most everything very well (for the price). TBH, they look so incredibly pretty that I would just buy them for the looks and use while budgeting for an upgrade.
r/iems • KZ Castor Pro (Harman & Bass) vs Kinera Celest Wyvern ->Idk who's advertising multi driver sets so much or why but a simple 10mm dlc or lcp driver iem like the kinera wyvern will be more cohesive in the sou dstage and image cause one driver. And cheaper. and more fun sounding
r/iems • Gaming IEM’s ->If you want full bass punch, get the pro bass, for anything else, probably better go for the Kinera, both have a bit of a big nozzle tho.
r/iems • KZ Castor Pro (Harman & Bass) vs Kinera Celest Wyvern ->for gaming vivace is the best pick under $30, Wyvern is good, but a bit more focused on vocals, fit is not so great tho, similarly to Cadenza (nozzle is larger).
r/iems • tripowin vivace vs kiwi ears cadenza which one is better... For gaming and music... I like bass but not harsh type ->Owned both - wyvern I flipped asap as it was a boring listen. No regret letting it go. Castor Pro I flipped too only because I felt it wont get much listening time among my similar sets, and its large feeling fit. But it is a much more competent iem than the wyvern with tuning flexibility with its switches. I have slight regret selling it. Right now, in price range of these two, I'd recommend the hzsound white snow - best stock tuning, sq among my ultra budget collection.
r/iems • KZ Castor Pro (Harman & Bass) vs Kinera Celest Wyvern ->I find the Wyvern very flat in comparison to the Castor Pro. I found myself straining to hear the base and kept trying to push them deeper into my ear. I have the mic boom option and regret it. The weight of the boom is enough to cause the earpiece to constantly shift out of the desired placement in my ear. Found it annoying and nearly trashed it just cos of that. I guess a foam tip will help solve this issue. I feel like it's a quality product but I would have liked to have some ability to tweak it to my liking. As far as 'look and feel' it's probably the best looking iem right now, hard to beat in looks. Build quality is solid. The Castor Pro however also looks really good and I feel like the build slightly edges ahead of the Wyvern. I like how the connector pins on the cables have a protective housing whereas the Wyvern cables have the pins fully exposed. In terms of sound quality it's clearly superior in terms of staging and provides a richer, fuller experience. This combined with the ability to tweak the eq to a degree make it my choice between the two. The Wyvern is treble biased to the point that some of my favourite songs i listened to were nearly unrecognizable or sounded altered. Both are great products with a premium feel but the Castor Pro feels like they've put lots of time and consideration into producing a quality product that also comes in at a great price point. I must say that I was really dissapointed by the performance of the Wyvern but what it has done is give me a new appreciation of the Castor Pro.
