I'm using these: KZ AS10 [https://www.amazon.com/Kinboofi-AS10-B1-KZ-AS10-IEM-5-Balanced-Armature-Driver-Earphone-Stereo-HiFi-KZ-in-Ear-Monitor-Headphone-Musician-Headset-with-Detachable-2-Pin-Cable-No-Microphone/dp/B07GW8GVG1](https://www.amazon.com/Kinboofi-AS10-B1-KZ-AS10-IEM-5-Balanced-Armature-Driver-Earphone-Stereo-HiFi-KZ-in-Ear-Monitor-Headphone-Musician-Headset-with-Detachable-2-Pin-Cable-No-Microphone/dp/B07GW8GVG1) They are quite nice for the price, they sound great. They lack somewhat in bass response and let in a lot of outside sound, because that's how IEMs are supposed to work. So the main thing to keep in mind is that they will sound different from your cans, they are supposed to. I also used to have the DT 770 Pros, and now use the open back 990s instead. There's also a version with a built-in mic, and I would advise not getting that one for synths, because sometimes the TRRS cable doesn't line up properly in a synth's TRS headphones jack.
I've been using Linsoul KZ AS10 for a couple years now, $60. For pubg, they make audio direction finding feel very precise and the game audio sounds nice otherwise. However, if I try to listen to music on them, I find them a bit lacking, especially for heavy metal. But I only really use them for pubg so that is fine. Also - I use them with a cheap headphone amplifier with bass/treble controls.
Same, did 2 gigs with them, even with faom ear tips, and still had a hard time hearing the bass. Bought a pair of the AS10's and have been using them since, got a little more bass response (esp mid-bass) out of those. If listening to music for enjoyment, the ZS10 Pros have more clarity especially at the low and high ends, but the AS10's just cut through better for bass with my bands' wireless packs. We've since got a new setup with a digital mixer, so I can set my own monitor's levels for each person and eq it, so that definitely helps more too and I bring my ZS10 Pros as backups since I can dial it in better.
Long as there isn't any click in the bleed and it's low level, yeah like everyone else is saying it won't affect the final mix. For the future though if you want to avoid it I'd just keep some iems on hand with an extension cable. KZ AS10s are cheap and surprisingly good, you could buy a bunch and just wash the earbuds before/after each session, no more track bleed
Love my HD 25's. They can get a bit clampy around the ears after a good 2 -3 hours wearning but have a great seal on the ears and amazing sound but relatively flat sounding. I have a good in ear monitors (Linsoul KZ AS10) but find they get sweaty and painful over time when mixing for 1 hour plus. What I find myself going to the most are my Audio Technica ATH-M50X closed back headphones (if I'm not using my HD 25) as they are the most comfortable of the two. The ATH M50X are close to flat, but the one up from them, the ATH M70X, has more bass and more excitement in the highs imo. Same comfort aswell. Most closed back headphones incase the whole ear (over-ear) aswell. The HD 25's are more of an on-ear then over-ear (probably why it's a bit more clampy) Something like a closed back might be something to consider. One more type you could look at are open-back headphones. I sometimes DJ with a pair of Beyerdynamic DT990 PRO'S when I just wanna have a chilled mix and not get too hot. You'll be able to hear your environment around you and you'll get some music bleeding through. But great if you want maximum comfort, airflow and to be able to hear what's around you. But probably not a transient and bassy and existing. hope this helps :)
I've had my KZ AS10 since 2019. As long as you find tips that seal well, they are FANTASTIC for the money. There's nothing else in that price range that has the response and clarity. You will want to get a case for them, GIGCASE makes one for like $18
KZ makes so many different models. Too many maybe. I've tried three of them and if I'm honest with myself, I feel like they were all just as good albeit slightly different in focus. So since you tried the hybrid designs, maybe go for 100% balanced armature like the AS series or planar magnetic like the PR. You won't get much better value for money no matter which model honestly. First time I've hear of KZ I almost couldn't believe how cheap they were.
I'd be surprised if the transmitter/receiver would make a huge difference--then again, I run mine wired so I'm just guessing. I used Shure 215s as my earbuds for a couple hundred gigs--they were fine. I see these often put down, as they are single driver and relatively cheap, but I had no complaints. I play keys and sing and while I don't need super clear bass (which may require more drivers), I do appreciate clarity. The fit of your earbuds makes a big difference in quality and how much isolation you get. I've had to try different types and sizes of tips until I was happy with them. I tried a custom IEM pair, didn't like them unfortunately. Bulky and singing with them was terrible. Tried 5 driver KZs, didn't like them (too harsh and bright). Now I use Sennheiser IE 400 pros, they are single driver but it's some kind of different tech from traditional. Sounds great, small and light. I use the largest size comply foam tips that fit on them. Another thing that improved my monitor mix was being able to go stereo. That way I can pan guitar more to one side, keys more to the other, and have vocals in the center (these are all mid-range channels that tend to obscure each other).
Kzn work great for me and very affordable. Thatβs terrible service from drumeo though 100%
