That's exactly why I purchased the KZ As24Pro lol. Chirurgically crispy af but despicable with music.

This feels like a personal attack against me 😭 [KZ AS24 Pro] (24 BA,12 each side) For the record, I don't think No. Of drivers is proportional to audio quality. My decision to go for the AS24 Pro is because I am an analytical listener and I prioritize Detail above anything else.

KZ Sonata, AS24/Pro, ZS12 ProX (down switches) and some of the Harman/Hi-res versions of their more budget stuff like Vader. Tanchjim Ola or 4U/Fission with the bass dial turned down. Or for a KZ 1DD The Zenith is very good and very neutral with down switches. Hexa can sound "wooly" without EQ sometimes so I don't think it would be clear enough for you. A good alternative with similarly linear bass and overall brighter would be the Twistura Sigma or ZS12, depending on if you want vocal or lower treble prominence. https://preview.redd.it/3nirp16onyef1.png?width=2095&format=png&auto=webp&s=0c768cd3893981b6b26271ab63362290d9d50dca

They are worth every penny. I even bought the AS24 Pro for around $130, and I don’t regret it. Also, they are one of very few companies that dare to try new technologies and different driver combinations. Since their prices are always affordable, they give you a chance to try new things without breaking the bank.

If you want to get another KZ/CCA I would recommend the Hydros as they are fucking amazing and suggest the AS24 Pro over the Sonata based on the good reviews for the AS24pro vs the few ok reviews for the Sonatas. They both can be had for around $100. Take with a grain of salt those constantly bringing up QC issues with KZ. This will be something you will see no matter if it applies or not. Example - Someone makes a topic about low volume with the Castors and some dipshit will jump in to say QC issue but the person had them connected to their PC 3.5mm port. Do your own research as there are plenty of people on here with a stick up their ass about KZ and they don't even use them. They'd rather you spend more money based on their issues.

I have KZAS24Pro and KZ Sonatas. KZ Sonata are awesome and a step better than the KZ-AS24's. I got my Sonata's with the 4 tuning switches and the sound is incredible. They are very comfortable -- and someone said they are more comfy than the KZ-AS24s? Basically they are the same shell so they are the same comfort wise. You can't go wrong for \~$150. With 14 drivers per ear, custom IEMs would cost you thousands (if you can find them). I play in a rock band with these and can say there is nothing that comes close in this price range.

At that price, as24, am16, or cca hydro. Autoeq towards a neutral target like ve7, mh334sr, or anything similar from canalworks, westone or shure. I recommend multi ba only sets as they tend to be low distortion and handle eq very well in my experience.

The switches make the difference. I mainly listen to music on my iphone. I used AS24 + upgraded cable + type C adapter + Deezer HiFi app that comes with integrated EQ. Now I turn off the EQ in the app as the settings available in the Sonata integrated EQ are good enough. Sound wise is more balanced, with a good stabilization between highs and lows (As24 is too bright in the highs), per example you can add extra bass or lower the highs and the changes will be subtle but they will be there. The Sonata has also more detail, especially in the vocals. I could hear the back vocals clearly in many songs. Overall very good for classical, pop, r&b, indie, alternative rock. For hard rock and metal genres I think having so many layers of sounds (multiple drivers) is not beneficial as these genres are more condensed in sound.

ZS12 Pro X is absolutely amazing, compared with AS24 is more technical and produces natural DD bass with a nice texture and boom, without overwhelming the mids. As24 has slightly better imaging but the lack of boomy bass takes the fun out of it and also makes it sound a bit unnatural
