Let's simplify this... What you have is the KZ Castor Pro (Bass Enhanced Version). These in a nutshell are really a good IEM for a balanced and bass heavy experience, and are arguably better than TWS Bluetooth earbuds, you just need to set them up for success. What you need to bring them to life and wake 'em up inside... ✓ DAC/Amp combo (eg. KZ AM02). This will drive your Castor Pro across any device and there are EQ presets for bass, clarity, and gaming. ✓ Adjust all switches to UUUU or UUDD. These are essentially your manual stick shift for a novel iem with switches. Learn the gears avoid finding it and grinding it. ✓ Get new eartips. You aren't going to get a good seal to unleash all of its glory for sound profile with the stock eartips of KZ. It is crucial to upgrade this area and should be a priority. I suggest something with a narrow bore like the Penon Liqueur Orange or Black. After you have completed the 3 imperative objectives above... Report back here and tell us all if there is any difference. Bonus: You can try an EQ app to further tailor your sound should you choose.
Hey there... I do not have experience with KZ PR1 for gaming, however, below mentioned is a post I've made before highlighting a great KZ branded setup. KZ Castor Pro Silver (Balanced) KZ M2 Type C Cable with built in "EQ Tuner" For the above mentioned setup that is a great start in this hobby -- All in $15 to $20 depending on where you are geographically located in this beautiful world. Considering you're starting out, it will allow you to take a dive into the water without fear of drowning yourself into just 1 IEM blind buy etc... With the tuning switches and options KZ Castor Pro Silver provides and the preset EQ options of the M2 cable, this will give you an idea of what sound profile/signature you are most comfortable with -- And in turn, make a sound profile on "experiential knowledge" based purchase for a future set of IEMs. In my opinion -- For gaming, particularly FPS games -- They are punching above their price. Edit: Also get the DUNU SS Eartips (price varies from $2 for 1 pair or 3 pairs for $7) to enhance your sound experience with a tight seal on your IEM. If you've made it this far into my response, then please look into "IEM burn in time for KZ Castor Pro" as this will help set initial expectations for sound out of the box if you decide to go the KZ route.
Are the kz castor pros available in your area? They're $25 USD where I'm at and they're great for final fantasy, apex legends, palworld, counter strike, returnal, and cyberpunk 2077. If not, the zero blue 2's are a great pick.
Yes the kz castor pro has fairly low power requirements and they sound great. Oh and they come with DIP switches so you can adjust the tone to suit your preference. There's a graph on the kz website that shows all the different modes you can set.
No problem when you get them try the switches on the headphones and check https://kz-audio.com/kz-castor-pro.html for a graph on each of the switch settings so you can set them to how you want them to sound
* KZ Castor Pro (Harman Target with Improved Bass * Big bass, slightly cleaner bass than OG Castor, but may sound sharper trebles a little bit vs OG Castor. And the shell are known to be big for some people. And if you some like experimentation and tinkering with it's switches. * 7Hz X Crinacle ZERO 2 * Warm-ish leaning, may lack some technicalities than newer IEMs on your selection. * Tangzu WANER SG 2 * Warm-ish leaning, personally a little bit more balanced than Zero 2. Shell departed to the old style, so shape maybe a little weird for some. * Moondrop CHU 2 * Older IEM, Balanced-ish set but a little bit tinging to bright, because of its minimal bass punch. Smallest shell, but is plagued with corrosion for some people. * CCA PHOENIX * Balanced IEM, with some portions of its treble region may sound a little touching bright. Metal IEM with no paint so its a fingerprint magnet, metal IEMs usually can have issues with moisture (but can be alleviated by silica gel inside the case, and putting the IEM inside when not in use) * Truthear GATE * Balanced-ish IEM, though personally its a little bit tinging to warmness (not as warm as the OG Wan'er SG), technicalities average at best. * Tanchjim BUNNY * Balanced-ish, technicalities, details, and soundstage focused. Weird shape, but may work with many ears. DSP version is better overall because of the Tanchjim App support and included PEQ. Within your selection (based on your criteria), I would rate them like this: 1. Tanchjim Bunny (Both versions) 2. CCA Phoenix 3. 7Hz x Crinacle Zero 2 4. Truthear Gate 5. Moondrop Chu 2 6. KZ Castor Pro (Bass) Terms of soundstage, instrument separation, and details: 1. Tanchjim Bunny (Both versions) 2. CCA Phoenix 3. KZ Castor Pro (Bass) 4. Moondrop Chu 2 5. 7Hz x Crinacle Zero 2 6. Truthear Gate With the DAC, a simple JCally CX31993 DAC/AMP, like the JM6 Pro is enough. If you have an iPhone, get the Apple Dongle (US version). But if you want features and additional stuffs like hardware-level Parametric EQ, there's a bunch. But the cheapest with alot of enough amount of features is the TRN Black Pearl. Castor Pro (Silver) might be touch bit brighter (abit more leaning towards neutral bright) than the OG Castor Silver, OG Silver seems to have a little bit more smoother sound experience than the Pro Silver. OG Silver, even in FR graphs is more versatile from neutral bright to a Mild-V warm-ish tuning. On the Tangzu Wan'er SG 1, yes its really warm and chill sound experience, though same with your guess it sounded abit too relaxed. Wan'er SG 2 changed that, so you can definitely go for that one as well. If you like bass, then Castor Bass definitely. Imaging wise its better than Tangzu Wan'er SG 1, though male vocals gets drowned, female vocals does not get affected as much. This based on my own personal experience on all 3 https://preview.redd.it/pq76zelzj8xf1.jpeg?width=9720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1e9a811c03703d0c885fd03d7a806392ba2ec491 Though in the end, these are just subjective and personal opinions, everything will end up on your own preferences, likes, and dislikes.
difference is more into maturity, general sound experience, and refinement. but it definitely depends on your preference tuning(s). I previously came from the original KZ Castors (both Bass and Silver Harman), then jumped to KZ AM16 Balanced, but I have already experienced few higher end IEMs around 50-200 USD. AM16 Balanced, especially if bought on a discount or at low price (just like mine at $33 locally here in the Philippines, but in the US it might be around $50-60). Better terms of detail retrieval, instrument separation, and "soundstage" vs the Castors (even if I EQ them to a similar preference EQ I like) But with a little bit more pricy set than the AM16 Balanced, because of its deep V-shape tuning and a little bit more refinement on those more expensive sets, those sets sound better overall. (specifically Ziigaat Odyssey 1) Though personally the AM16 Balanced with PEQ is getting there, sounds wonderful, though definitely those two sets are better, But definitely I know now what to upgrade to and most likely I know what are my end game sets. Until I don't need to EQ. My Mild-V/U shape EQ is around the Xenns Mangird Tea Pro and Ziigaat Odyssey 1. https://preview.redd.it/enkhr59aqhyf1.png?width=2400&format=png&auto=webp&s=35e8f417e92d2acc4f2be3885944fbb1a67f9a52

The original EDX Pro is really more on the V-shaped bright tuning, and many don't like its bright tuning. If you really like bass, Castor Harman is not your IEM. I would either suggest going to like Saga Bass or Castor Bass, or Dawn. Castor Harman (1100 switches), Gale, EDC Pro, EDX Pro 2, and Saga Balanced is more leaning towards balanced-ish tuning. Castor Harman (0000 switches) is more leaning to mild-V shaped bright, (0011 switches) neutral bright tuning Terms of improvement or any differences, if you want versatility and easy to adjust to almost any tuning, go for the Castor Harman (tuning switches and EQ) If you want to not fiddle with switches and/or EQ, go for the EDC Pro, EDX Pro 2, and Saga series.
7Hz Zero 2 is good on gaming. With the KZ Castor (it depends on what Castor you wanted) as there are 2 version of the Castor. Silver Harman Tuned and Black Bass Boosted Tuned: Black Bass Boosted Tuned is usually recommended by majority of the YouTuber reviewers, but its only great for EDM, Hip-Hop, and Rap music and not so good for competitive gaming personally, but great for single player games. Silver Harman Tuned is more versatile, can be tuned either for gaming and/or music. And can handle more than the Bass Improved version and also decent for general gaming as well.
Wait for your brain to get used to one IEM first, this happened to me. My original IEM was the QKZ AK6 Pro like yours (just the pink and blue one). I have used that for years as my daily driver abused IEM. Still works haha, until I end up buying the KZ Castor Bass. After few weeks, I noticed the QKZ sounded duller and has less clarity. It gotten way way worse as soon as I swapped to the KZ Castor Harman, which has way less bass than both. I ended up liking the Castor Harman vs both the Castor Bass and AK6 Pro. Now the QKZ just sounds like mud for me, too much bass.
Taurus is really tuned for a more neutral-ish or neutral bright preference. Its close to my JM-1 +10 dB bass shelf PEQ of my AM16 Balanced. But for my mild-v preference, ill rather pick OG Castor Harman at 1100 or Castor Pro Bass for more bass-focused tuning. Or just use my AM16 Balanced with no EQ, Taurus would just be a side or downgrade personally. But I know some will buy this set as their first.
>How well do these work for gaming and for listening to house/pop music? And if there are any tips, alternative suggestions, or tuning recommendations, I’d love to hear them! Gaming wise, Castor Pro Harman should be fine for the most part, decent-ish enough soundstage and instrument separation for at least getting sound cues while playing Valorant or CS2. But with house/pop music (I am a house/bass/EDM music producer), this is fine if you like a neutral-ish bright experience, but if you wanted more bass punch and power: * Castor Pro Improved Bass * Saga Bass * Vader Balanced * Vader Pro Bass * QKZ x HBB Though a more bassy set will compromise on gaming, especially on sound cues and footsteps, so a warmer-ish all-rounder something like: * 7Hz x Crinacle Salnotes Zero 2 * Kiwi Ears Cadenza * Truthear Gate * Inawaken Dawn Ms * Kinera Celest Wyvern Abyss * GK Kunten

I have seen a comment (maybe from Audio Amigo) where the Soundbrenner might just be a rebadged TRN ST2 shells with an additional BA driver. Seen frequency response graphs of it somewhere from ASR Forums, wacky and maybe shouty and shrilly graph. https://preview.redd.it/05hgzaaiqxqf1.png?width=2400&format=png&auto=webp&s=bc1d239095b5772b4ab21beb2e973abb64f6a65d I would personally stay away from the Soundbrenner if this is the actual graph, I would rather personally use my KZ Castor, AM16 Balanced, or my EDC Pro over this. In your case, go ahead and buy the Kefine Klean!
Got my first IEM today, The Kz castor pro Audioculor Collab version, it comes with inbuilt type C port with dsp and costed me only 2000. I own a Sony WF C500 which is remarkably good and been using it for more than two years so after trying this pair here is my honest experience : I first played Draft Punk at 40-50% volume and to be honest I didnt feel any major difference even the loudness was very low and it made me think okay may be all those reviews were overexxgarating everything or maybe I need to buy external DAC ( I didnt because Motorola Edge series is known for DAC compatibility issues) but the real magic happened when I started listening to my Rock/Metal playlist and set the volume above 70% this is the moment this thing showed its true colours, I could hear those layered vocals for the first time the echoes and extra instrumentals and after that I played some Electronic and EDM music and set the volume to max My Sony Buds are really really good but this thing made them sound like those cheap Chinese earphones which I used to buy during my highschool days, the bass is truly overpowering and at max volume it is just way too loud I had to lower the volume. Hands down one of my best buys ever !!
Yes this is the audioculor collab edition it comes with type C cable and and inbuilt DAC. The buds are big and heavy due to metallic build and glass finish but will fit very well into the ear canal
Fitting is good but you will have to take frequent breaks after 2-3hours of continuous usage because these are heavier than normal earbuds and sound output feels very punchy at high volume
Almost 8 Days and this particular thing is not very comfortable imo you cant wear it for more than 2-3 hours
I am pretty new to this IEM thing. I recently bought the KZ castor pro harman target improved base version with 3.5 mm jack. I use it for gaming and music. Personally I love it. But I donot understand how these devices are categorized. Like whats hybrid drivers and whats dynamic drivers? What differences do they make and whats the best way to use them?
I have been using my first iem the kz castor pro base version and absolutely love them but sometimes the base can drown other sounds. Is the kefine klean better than castor pro? Like is the staging and sound separation better? I might get one of those.
Another good one in my opinion are the KZ Castor pros bass edition. No mic. You get 4 switches to change up the sound. iem.https://a.co/d/0h8HqNpx
This right here☝🏾. I came here to say this
I'll stick with my Castor pro bass edition. I love that iem
I love the Explorer because the bass is just right(I love bass) and the treble is slightly recessed (exactly how I like it). If you wanted to save some cash and still value a great sound signature, the Castor pro bass edition with the 4 switches are AWESOME!!! Supermix 4 is the best all-arounder of the iems i mentioned. Great for all genres
My favorite 2 iems under 30 dollars are the Moondrop Chu 2 and KZ Castor pros (bass edition).
I love the kz Castor pros bass edition
Castor pro bass edition
I agree. I love the kz Castor pros bass edition iem. I don't understand why the hate. It does sound good to me.
Artti T10 pro, Aful Explorer, Sivga Que, Castor pro bass edition, Simgot ew300 HBB version. If you looking for a red iem that's warm, the Tangzu Wan'er 2 Red Lion
I love the KZ Castor pros bass edition. You are absolutely right
You definitely bought the wrong signature iem 😂. That's a bassy V-shaped sound signature iem. You, my friend need to get the truthear hexa iem if you want clarity and detail. You have to read up on iems first to find out what sound signature they are first, and then decide if want to try it. You just dived right in the V-shaped and then trashed it for what that iem was intended for😂
I have the Castor pros bass edition. They sound wonderful! They have the 4 switches that you can alter the sound a lil bit. My setup is the first 3 is up and the 4th is down.
Yes!! I listen to multiple genres and It does sound great with metal and hard rock
Yes, I own it! One of my best budget iems that I love!! It has 4 switches to play with to tune your personal sound signature. I do the first 3 switches up and the 4th one down. It's a fun, V-shaped sound signature that I know for a fact you would love it. Don't cost much at all, which is more great!
Depends on your music preferences mate 😊But if you’re starting out the castor pro is good for a beginner. KZ generally targets V-Shaped sound signature which appeals to a lot of casual listeners. The elevated bass would sound great to you in hip-hop and rap songs. The elevated highs might appeal to you if listen to electronic music. if you have access to zvx pro i'd go for those otherwise i'd take the kz gale as a more balanced allrounder or caastor pro if you're a basshead
