OP! I have the og zvx too. I mostly liked the sound of that, except for the highs, there's a bit of metallic sheen on the top notes, I don't know how else to describe it. My gripes about it are that the the iem's connector to the cable is angled out. I have to CONSTANTLY adjust the iems so that the ear hook is on my ear, or they'll fall out. How's the connectors on these? I'm very tempted, but I won't be buying if it's the same connectors again.

I have the OG ZVX in silver (not the revision) and the Pro in black. These are two KZ IEM’s I will keep until they stop working.

Yes. I would highly suggest staying away from the “cheaper” priced ZVX. If you can find it for $10 it isn’t the original driver model.

The original is the only KZ IEM I’ve kept in my collection as I reduced the number of IEM’s I have. I admit I do NOT have any testing hardware other than my ears, so I can’t actually graph and measure them side by side. I can say that with everything being the same: dap, music files, cable, eartips…….I bought a second pair of the ZVX for my buddy and did an A/B test with my original ones and the new, cheaper priced ones. I took the IEM’s themselves and placed them in a box and had my buddy give me a pair without telling me which one. I had mine marked with a Sharpie. I basically did a blind A/B test and while I can’t explain all the differences, it’s been awhile, I could certainly hear they were not the same tuning. Not saying a drastic day-and-night difference, but the treble and bass hit different, vocals were different too. Again, it wasn’t like 2 completely different IEM’s with different sound signatures, but they for sure did not sound the same.

The ZVX is my favorite KZ so far. I have the original and a friend sent me his that ended up being a revised version. Doing side by side comparison I remember I could tell there was a difference. I don’t recall exactly what, it’s been quite awhile, but I do remember it wasn’t that much of a difference.

I am starting to think the driver has been changed for a cheaper one. Everyone who reviews this, besides the reviews when it first came out, describes a totally different sound to what I have. Mine was bought when it first came out, and is phenomenal. It's very hard to believe that I paid $14 for it, it's insane value for money. It's very clear, well controlled bass, very tight, quick, accurate, but not great quantity, the mids are open and textured with medium note weight , and the treble has great extension, cymbals and high hats sound natrul with natural attack and decay, soundstage is very good, very open. All in all it's very natural sounding and kills classical and jazz, but can be used for anything, bearing in mind it's a little light on mid bass.

You need to put a good cable and good tips or they don't sound very good. You need to review it after doing that, and giving it time to burn in. It's essentially perfect once set up right. One of the best I own at any price.

Oh that's what's going on. Mine is fabulous, it's a really great IEM, and a super bargain for the price. If it said moondrop on the box, o one would complain at $60.

Or, I don't know, just get a balanced cable and good eartips and burn it in properly? Blows away a any of the other 20 dollar stuff. If you get the original. This is a problem with KZ. Make it perfect, then revise it and ruin it.

If they sound good, reccomend them. Who cares about the company, you aren't getting married to it.

Inferior drivers. You will run up against its limits pretty quick. Two months max.

Over time these sorts of differences become bothersome, because, knowing kz, they have tuned an inferior driver to sound like ZVX. You will hear it over time and be dissapointed.

I've used the following models with success on stage and rehearsals (I play the drums): ZVX, ZS10 Pro X, Libra, Krila, Vader. At least the first two are sensitive enough to go loud even with a wimpy amp. Like you I previously used Shure 215's (and 315's). For years. And any of the models I mentioned sounds better to my ears.

The fact that lots of people but kz IEMs, is not proof of their good quality. Just shows that there is a market , with lots of customers who like budget priced products. My KZ ZVX is no longer usable, the left ear is so much louder than the right ear. My KZ Polaris, sounds like junk right from the day I received it. Could be a manufacturing error. I should have returned them, immediately. Two strikes. The moment I got the Artti T10, it opened up a whole new world of what a good quality IEM could sound like. Sure the KZ's may sound ok, but most people are either not knowledgeable or do not have enough experience with a variety of products to know the difference. Once you hear better, you cannot unhear it. I could still buy another KZ or CCA IEM, but at least now, my expectations will be more reasonable and I will not be expecting them to be too fantastic

I have bought 3 KZ/CCA IEMs. 1. KZ ZVX 2. CCA CRA (2023 revision) 3. KZ Polaris. The Polaris was a complete piece of junk, terrible sounding. Within 2 days, the paint on the ZVZ was peeling. Within a few months, an imbalance in volume on the ZVX has made them unusable, cos one side is so much louder than the other. Buying KZ/CCA is a bit of a gamble. Finally none of them fit properly in the ear, to provide a good seal, with the stock eartips that are supplied with their IEM's. Which also has a negative impact on their sound, a bit of a tame bass in the lowest frequencies. Advantage though, is that the poor attenuation means it's easy to have conversations with their IEM's in one's ears.!!

It would recommend KZ Libra X (silver one) or KZ ZVX if you want something in that direction. Both have fairly balanced tuning and decent bass. Kz castor harman have clean bass that is nice if that what you want. But if you want fun punchy rumbly bass, this aint it. Or get KZ Castor pro bass for good quality fun bass but still not overwhelming like the og castor bass.
