"Literally couldn't think of any pair of IEMs + dongle dacs could sound as analytical as the C3P+ for around $70. ... detail is just sooo much better. The C3P+ is just leagues ahead the I5 in terms of detail and resolution. ... the C3P+ is actually the closest sounding one to really expensive iems or headphone that I have."

"Crazy good from the jump! ... When you factor in they're only $99 and go toe-to-toe with Bose QC Ultra at $299, this is the deal of the year!"

"Can't recommend them enough for the value, sound like $200 earphones."

"There is a song called Melt - Into the Blue, and the I tro has massive bass. And on the Martillo is super deep. But what I didn't realize was that at the end of the first verse where he says "into the blue" before it goes into the bridge, the bass just complete drops through the floor. Never heard that bit of the song pulled out like that."

"I just got it, it's basically a bassier and better Defiant. I love my bass. Enormous amounts of bass. Bordering in what a lot of people would call manic. And surprisingly the Defiant always came through on the bass. The Martilo though, surpasses that in every way. ... Bass - absolutely massive difference. Incomparable even. And I love my bass."

"it is an insane basshead listening experience. ... The amount of bass with the bass knob is absolutely disgustingly awesome, super enjoyable."

"The PR2 issue was interesting. First run had an additional filter between the driver housing and nozzle, which tamed the treble a bit and gave the tuning a more well-balanced and natural timbre. It was a $30 planar with an excellent tuning that was easy to recommend to new hobbyists."

"U just gotta EQ. With planars EQ can match physical tuning so you can just get the cheapest one, the pr2's driver isn't that different from pr3 or PRX ... Also if you're not gonna give them proper amplification you're better of with a dynamic driver. Jcally jm12 is good and has EQ but trn black pearl is better and has 10 band peq with less limits and more headroom ... Also kz's planar drivers aren't far off from any that letshuoer, hidizs, campfire or 64 audio use, so if you're gonna EQ and know what you want, you can get a lot of value"

"KZ PR's could have cost 500$ if they came out in 2008."

"its very good positioning for fps"

"Sits in the same case as an EM6L as one of my gaming IEMs."

"amazing, there’s so much air and anything from mid to upper range is just magic"

"The soundstage is wide and spacious with great depth, offering a very immersive feel. Imaging is precise, letting you pick apart layers of instruments and vocals effortlessly—ideal for complex genres or orchestral music. ... It's like the sound comes from other dimension.. all the other IEMs the sound comes out from inside your head.. when the sound comes from inside your head you don't get anything else surrounding you.. you just get the music.. ... But the prestige LTD as I said lets you hear the music as loud as you are willing to get without crowding your head ....... It's just magical and hard to be described ... The prestige LTD is something else.. when you listen to it the music comes from the back of your head not from inside.... It doesn't crowd your head the positioning of it the sound stage the airness... It offers you music from another dimension.. something you don't get for entry level IEMs or ba drivers IEMs ... But the prestige LTD is in another league.. the refinement the positioning the sound stage the airness the separation.. you will love it"

"I think the sound staging could be better for its price range and would recommend the Prestige LTD for a kilobuck set for that specific feature"

"Even with this, IE 200 can still be sibilant due to peaks in the upper treble and its overall treble forward character ... But this much treble boost can also come at the cost of being sibilant or harsh in some songs. ... Tracks that exhibit sibilance, especially in the upper treble, are unlistenable on IE 200."

"For Aimer, many IEMs struggle to get the treble right because of her distinct husky vocals. IE 200 struggles here. A lot of her songs sound sharp and sibilant with this."

"the treble doesn't roll of smoothly causing strain to ears."

"I find the S08 to be *extremely* tip sensitive. ... It didn't sound right to me except with one specific tip. ... I have about 30 or 40 tips and I tried them all. ... So I'm normally a bit hesitant to recommend it to people, as there's definitely an element of luck involved when it comes to finding the right tips. ... If I happened to only own 39 instead of 40 tips, I might have hated it."

"It's also very tip-sensitive, so some of the negative you mentioned like not being as resolving as the Delci are probably down to tips. ... It's a much more capable driver than the Delci, but it can sound pretty wonky with the wrong tips. ... I have a lot of tips and only found *one* that worked well on them (Penon Liqueur Orange). ... Most IEMs will sound slightly different on different tips, but the S08 just sounds bad to me on every tip I've tried except one. ... And I have about 60 or 70 different tips. That's one of the few times I actually tried every single one of them, because I can normally find a few good options long before I need to go that far. ... However, if you don't get the tip matching right, the bigger issues with the tuning will completely dominate over any technical advantages the driver might have. ... It's why I'm quite hesitant to recommend it to people. There's too much luck involved when it comes to the tips."

"I find it very tip-sensitive and it sounds wrong on almost all tips."

"The PR2 issue was interesting. First run had an additional filter between the driver housing and nozzle, which tamed the treble a bit and gave the tuning a more well-balanced and natural timbre. It was a $30 planar with an excellent tuning that was easy to recommend to new hobbyists. Blew up because HBB got behind it. Started selling like hotcakes. KZ decided to pull out the filter, wither to save costs, labor, or both. Totally changed the tuning. It was shrill, sibilant, and a tinny, metallic mess. They pulled the rug out to save a few bucks, and then reframed the change as a “retune.” It was a whole thing."

"sub brand models like the qkz vk4 and cca cra also got downgraded after positive reviews"

"For the PR2 I can't let that slide. The main change was the black mesh that acted as a filter. Later batches didn't got that black mesh and it was obviously more sibilant, it could also be seen on graph (PR2 without black mesh)."

"the rock songs specially the guitar ones doesn't sound pleasent... ... Sorry I mean Sony....Ult1 sounds unpleasant for some rock or metal songs.....I'm still trying to find a perfect balance for Sony...especially the guitar doesn't sound good in Sony ... Also was listening to shapeshifter from celdweller, it sounded very unpleasant, still trying to find a good balance"

"Unbearably peaky"

kz planars specifically are some of the most power hungry iems out there. you need a good source to power these properly

Shozy P20 is on 50% off at linsoul at the moment and would be my planar pick. It's excellent, my favourite planar I have tried (I had the KZ PR2 (poor tonality/timbre) and nicehck F1 pro (better than KZ but way too much treble, really zizzy)).

r/iems • SGOR Luna, TRN Rosefinch, NiceHCK F1 pro, KZ PR3, KZ PRX, which one to buy? ->

Interested to hear your take. I also have the shozy P20 and rate it highly (much better than kz PR2 and nicehck F1 pro)

Agreed, they are complete shite. Will never buy a HBB collab again

I'm holding out for the Qinying. The successor to the Symphony, with a slightly larger dynamic driver (7mm) and hopefully better tuning. I never heard the Symphony, but did have a PR2 for a while, which was fine, but too treble-heavy (I had the OG version with mesh too)

Funny you should say that, because I’ve found them to be the most tip sensitive IEMs I’ve had. With the stock tips there was NO bass and the rest of the range sounded harsh and shrieky. With the next set of tips (Tri Clarion, I think? I can’t remember now) I could hear the bass but it just sounded so soft and poofy, like cotton balls being thrown at my ears. Finally, with the 3rd and 4th set of tips I’ve tried there was quite a turnaround and I’m seeing why people like these. I’m really enjoying them now. With all my other IEMs, tips have just made tiny differences in the sound and I’ve changed them around more to find the best comfort than anything else. But these - oh, man, was there a difference!

No. This is a normal sale price for the PR2s They’re an older set, and they’ve been retuned from the original version so now they sound noticeably worse. If you’re willing to EQ them, I’d say go for it.

I have them and love em. Pr2 are my first planars and I like them over Castor pro, Vader, Vader pro, Libra and maybe a bit over Am16. You supposedly need an Amp but with a CX31993/max97220 you should have enough juice to drive and enjoy them. It is a good buy. I'm curious about the sgor luna and the prx. I believe it's important to find the eartips that work for you for every iem too, with the wrong eartips any equipment will sound awful.

After owning and adoring the KZ PR1 Pro, I found the PR2 to be a massive disappointment. Unbearably peaky and much harder to drive

The PR2 has been retuned twice. The first time ruined the stellar original sound signature by making the treble unbearable. The second time fixed the terrible treble of the first retune but the overall sound signature still wasn't as good as the original release. If you want a very good budget planar set, just get a KZ PRX. It's the most recent planar release by KZ and has a newer, updated driver.

Was using KZ ZAX now using PR2. I really like the almost-too-harsh clarity of the planar drivers for gaming.
