Hi everybody! I have a pair of KZ RP2 and a pair of ZS10 pro X. I recently asked the AI for suggestions and it answered that the SIMGOT EA500 LM should be a better upgrade for my needs. One thing I noticed is that when I listen to music on my AirPods, the stereo imaging is a lot wider as well as the instrument separation compared to my IEMs and my Fiio KA13 dac. I mostly listen to genres like heavy metal, thrash, death and black metal, so a lot of fast double kicks are involved with the drums. Any thoughts and suggestions? TIA!
Under 100 the TinHifi Dudu and the Artti T10 og. The T10 pro nah, is shouty and unnatural, with eq is fixable but nah, it's not an upgrade to the T10 og A honorable mention to the PRX, PR2 and Sgor Luna, especially the KZ x HBB PR2 is the best price/performance planar iem under 50 usd IMHO. The Aether is my favorite, but yeah, 170 usd msrp and an underwhelming package.

KZ planars was a roller coaster terms of release the PR1 and PR1 Pro was definitely well received, though its sound signature is more leaning towards brighter sound signature. They we're well received because finally "budget" planar IEMs. PR2 x HBB was slightly better, but maybe because of its bass tuning some don't like it. (especially some has a vendetta against HBB), it was definitely warmer. PR3 was a disaster, trebles were piercing hard, went back to bright sounds. PRX fixed all of these issues, and it sounded warmer than previous KZ Planars while still retaining the technicalities of the older KZ's planar sets. It was like good > better(ish), depends > bad > better(ish)
That's definitely a lot. Only thing I sometimes get disappointed about with KZ is that some of their IEMs are often spinoffs of another with extra drivers but barely tuned differently. Standouts to me have always been: * Vader Pro * AM16 * Taurus * HBB PR2 * Gale Past that, I've not enjoyed the rest of their lineup.
Is this an upgrade from qkz hbb. The hbb to me sounds dark muffled with treble roll off and with a bloated slow bass. The bass shelf in the graph seems similar. Are they similar sounding?
The Luna is a good first IEM choice IMO. I've added another layer of metal filter over the wire mesh filter on mine to mod the sound a tiny bit, lessens the energy of sibilance it may have so I can now wear it for hours on end without experiencing any fatigue Got the Luna for a little less than 27usd a while ago, it definitely outperforms the likes of the Moondrop Chu (Harsh), Salnotes Zero (Okayish, less harsh) on a technical level by a long shot to my ears, and outcompetes the original Truthear Zero (Too much energy) and Zero:Red (Boring, but I like boring) on that front as well, and even the Juzear Defiant (Pleasant, easy listen, but very low res) IMO A slight upgrade over the KZ PR2 as well in terms of budget Planar IEMs, while costing almost half the price of what I paid for the PR2s a few years back It's a winner for the price in my books, punches well above its weight class, especially when discounted, by which it becomes a no-brainer recommendation from me for dipping ones toes into Planar IEMs It sits in my rotation alongside the PR2 (Foam + Filter modded), Zero:Red, Hexa (filters removed + Foam modded), Dioko (paper filter removed + foam modded, Filter replacement due) and the Defiant depending on my mood https://preview.redd.it/24s8hdn4173g1.jpeg?width=4096&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e97df5c55b0c4a89e2bf1e78043564234052f954 Top row: TE Zero:Red (Divinus Velvet Wide), TE Zero (Divinus Velvet), JE Defiant (Divinus Velvet Wide then, Sedna Earfit Light long stem currently) Middle row: 7Hz Zero (Sedna Earfit Light short stem) Bottom row: Moondrop Chu 1 (Spinfit CP100, removable cable mod), SGOR Luna (KBear Coffee Tips), KZ PR2 (KBear Coffee Tips)
