I had kz pr 2 pr 3 the planar driver is inferior
r/iems • Suggestions for first planar magnetic driver iem ->Has the same driver, is a smaller driver in comparison with most popular planars, and size matters the most on planars
r/iems • Suggestions for first planar magnetic driver iem ->I have the pr3 and it's got sibilance to it. It's unlistenable to me. I'll try eq'ing them and see what they sound like
r/iems • Which IEM impressed you the most? ->Yep. It comes from that range for sure. I've tried ToneDeafMonk's eq preset, while appreciating it, it wasn't for me. So I've never tried my own eq on the pr3 so this will be fun.
r/iems • Which IEM impressed you the most? ->1. Hifiman Ananda Nano: my current daily drivers. detail monsters with a very sterile sound signature. huge soundstage and laser imaging but with the unique characteristic that it tends to project things much farther away in front of you than other headphones. bass stays pretty much linear all the way down to 20hz and basically never distorts even with a huge bass shelf which makes them really fun. only downside is that they're extremely bright, the brightest headphones I own. 2. KZ PR3: extremely impressed with these given they're IEMs I got for around 50 dollars. kinda like mini Nanos given they're planar and have a similar sterile sound signature. extremely detailed and clean with great sound separation. impressive soundstage for an IEM. 3. Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro 80ohm: these were my daily drivers for 3 years before getting the Nanos and so they still have a special place in my heart. treble is still extremely detailed but is really lacking in the bass. It's very boomy and muddy and lacks sub bass presence. soundstage might actually be a little wider than the Nano but without nearly as much depth and positional accuracy. Mostly just use these for mixing in my home studio now. 4. Audio Technica ATH-M50XBT2: these have utility as both Bluetooth headphones and studio monitoring headphones but I actually enjoy their sound quite a bit. I would say they are actually tuned slightly better than the 990s and have a similar amount of detail but without the same staging ability. I put BrainWavz ProStock pads on them and it seemed to open the soundstage a little bit which was nice. 5. Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro 1st gen: also used these as my daily driver Bluetooth headphones for about 3 years. I liked their v shaped sound signature and they were a technical step up from what I had before but they're nothing special now. it took me hearing the PR3s once to realize these were going to be retired. 6. Sennheiser HD 280 Pro: my dad buys these for our home studio. They have utility for their extremely good sound isolation but that's about all the good I can say about them. not a fan of their dark and muddy sound signature
r/headphones • Rank your headphones (2025 edition) ->I love my KZs. I have PR3 with planar dynamic drivers and they are awesome. For 50$ you can't find much better than something like that. There probably is better around but not for that cheap.
r/Bass • Best budget IEM ->No, that's the real price. But soundwise, not recommended really. Go for PR3 or PRX if you can. I got PR3's and I love them. They have a nice soundstage and are good both for music and gaming.
r/iems • Planars under 20$ , Am i missing something? ->I have the PR3s and absolutely love them. They sound kinda flat compared to some of the other stuff I have but I think that's why I like about them. I can listen to them for a long time and forget I have them in. Would recommend.
r/iems • Planars under 20$ , Am i missing something? ->KZ planars was a roller coaster terms of release the PR1 and PR1 Pro was definitely well received, though its sound signature is more leaning towards brighter sound signature. They we're well received because finally "budget" planar IEMs. PR2 x HBB was slightly better, but maybe because of its bass tuning some don't like it. (especially some has a vendetta against HBB), it was definitely warmer. PR3 was a disaster, trebles were piercing hard, went back to bright sounds. PRX fixed all of these issues, and it sounded warmer than previous KZ Planars while still retaining the technicalities of the older KZ's planar sets. It was like good > better(ish), depends > bad > better(ish)
r/iems • Are KZ PR1 Pro good for gaming? ->Currently own PR3 from KZ, both Artti brothers the T10 and T10 pro, and then Aether. PR3 stock tuning is not great, specially if you would use it properly powered, as the treble is quite boosted, with EQ tho, probably approaching sub $100 stuff for less than half de price. T10 and T10 pro? the original all the way, i actually dont like V-shapes much, but T10, if we ignore the thin vocals, and consider how cheap it gets, it sure is a wild value option and i respect that, the Pro, for the extra price, didnt felt much better in performance overall, and tuning, at least in mine and some friends unit, was a bit odd, treble felt way too boosted, specially upper treble, sounding kinda noisy for no reason, and i am not sensitive to upper treble at all btw. Finally, the Aether does sound like a T10 upgrade and i like it, maybe fit could be a bit better, but tuning takes advantage of the driver very well, accesories arent impressive at all for what the Aether goes for, but performance and tuning for a planar is very good, energetic as T10 but with more fordward mid range (although still kinda V-shape, more of a soft V now), a total rec for people that like planar sound.
r/iems • What's been your fav planar so far? ->Careful, you unfortunately need a TON of power to even get PR2 to an audible level, PR3 less so, but still some substantial power, I recommend getting PRX instead because its not as hard to drive as those two
r/iems • Must have IEMs in any collection? ->Im a casual gamer on PC, mostly I play FPS game like PUBG, CS2, Squad and Battlefield. I mostly use KZ Castor and KZ PR3, I have CCA CRA, Salnotes Zero, JBL Quantum, Razer Hammerhead v2, Razer Hammerhead duo and couple of other budget iem. KZ castor has more boomy bass, so its great if u need more immersive sound with a lot of explosion and gunshot like Battlefield and Squad. But you can still tell what happen, where and how far.. But, when I need direction and detail like footsteps sound and gunshot direction I use KZ PR3.
