1. Hifiman Ananda Nano: my current daily drivers. detail monsters with a very sterile sound signature. huge soundstage and laser imaging but with the unique characteristic that it tends to project things much farther away in front of you than other headphones. bass stays pretty much linear all the way down to 20hz and basically never distorts even with a huge bass shelf which makes them really fun. only downside is that they're extremely bright, the brightest headphones I own. 2. KZ PR3: extremely impressed with these given they're IEMs I got for around 50 dollars. kinda like mini Nanos given they're planar and have a similar sterile sound signature. extremely detailed and clean with great sound separation. impressive soundstage for an IEM. 3. Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro 80ohm: these were my daily drivers for 3 years before getting the Nanos and so they still have a special place in my heart. treble is still extremely detailed but is really lacking in the bass. It's very boomy and muddy and lacks sub bass presence. soundstage might actually be a little wider than the Nano but without nearly as much depth and positional accuracy. Mostly just use these for mixing in my home studio now. 4. Audio Technica ATH-M50XBT2: these have utility as both Bluetooth headphones and studio monitoring headphones but I actually enjoy their sound quite a bit. I would say they are actually tuned slightly better than the 990s and have a similar amount of detail but without the same staging ability. I put BrainWavz ProStock pads on them and it seemed to open the soundstage a little bit which was nice. 5. Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro 1st gen: also used these as my daily driver Bluetooth headphones for about 3 years. I liked their v shaped sound signature and they were a technical step up from what I had before but they're nothing special now. it took me hearing the PR3s once to realize these were going to be retired. 6. Sennheiser HD 280 Pro: my dad buys these for our home studio. They have utility for their extremely good sound isolation but that's about all the good I can say about them. not a fan of their dark and muddy sound signature
r/headphones • Rank your headphones (2025 edition) ->I love my KZs. I have PR3 with planar dynamic drivers and they are awesome. For 50$ you can't find much better than something like that. There probably is better around but not for that cheap.
r/Bass • Best budget IEM ->So not had much time and I only have the previous PR3 in the series to compare it to. It seems the reviews have stated that they have reigned the treble in a little and I can confirm it definitely has. The PR3 had some very sharp sibilance with some vocals. It was sometimes difficult to listen to certain tracks due to the S’s and T’s feeling like needles in my ear. The PRX has reigned that in a little bit. Now most budget planars can suffer from sibilance, (it seems like the nature of the beast) but this one definitely has some restraint and it’s no longer difficult to listen to some of my catalogue. There’s still a bit of sharpness but it doesn’t peak and it has that signature metallic tone planars are known for. Sparkly for sure. But with the treble more controlled it means the bass can take over a little bit more, this gives this iem a little more warmth than the PR3. It’s not stupidly boomy but it will satisfy most edm nuts. Low end is tight and it has some good slam. Mids are as expected, good presence but bass and treble still push it back a little more but it’s definitely not an agressive V shape. Now that doesn’t mean the PR3 is now a dead product by any means. It’s still stronger when it comes to certain genres. I still recommend the PR3 for music that focuses less on vocals and/or no vocals. The sharp sparkly sound sig works amazing for classical and music soundtracks by the likes of John Williams and Danny Elfman but I could never recommend it as an all-rounder. The PRX on the other hand I could say it’s a good one and done budget planar. I also have the salnotes dioko and artti t10 (aswell as the PR3 and now PRX) of all 4 I’d say this is creeping very close to the T10 (my favourite). Currently I paid £36.29 for the PRX and I paid £46.50 for the T10 and thats a tad close for me to outwardly say the PRX is a total winner for the price but if this comes down in price a little bit more (£30 or a little less) I’d say the PRX is a definite recommendation. Still, if you have less that £40 and can’t stretch that little further then YES PRX is a banger iem.
r/iems • KZ PRX (the next in KZ’s Planar series) just arrived! ->Smart move, like I said the PR3 has it’s strengths but the sibilant vocals and it’s cold signature don’t make them good all rounders. But I’m currently listening to ACDC thunderstruck with the volume up to around 80% and I loving it PRX. The PR3 can barely make it past 50% before they become really nastly and sharp. But if you put these next to the T10 then the T10 are walking away with the medal everytime.
r/iems • KZ PRX (the next in KZ’s Planar series) just arrived! ->Vocals are good. I mean they sound a lot less metallic than the PR3’s thats for sure, but if you put a gun to my head I might say the t10’s sound more natural but not by much. I think the bass makes the iem sound a tad warmer than the PR3 and so vocals definitely aren’t as shouty. At least I haven’t had any complaints so far. I’m currently testing out the Harry Potter John Williams score as I type. It’s still sparkly but definetly not as sparkly as the PR3. Overall the iem sounds tighter, it all just works together better. The string instruments on PR3’s are sharper and stick out a bit more but definitely more natural on PRX.
r/iems • KZ PRX (the next in KZ’s Planar series) just arrived! ->Im a casual gamer on PC, mostly I play FPS game like PUBG, CS2, Squad and Battlefield. I mostly use KZ Castor and KZ PR3, I have CCA CRA, Salnotes Zero, JBL Quantum, Razer Hammerhead v2, Razer Hammerhead duo and couple of other budget iem. KZ castor has more boomy bass, so its great if u need more immersive sound with a lot of explosion and gunshot like Battlefield and Squad. But you can still tell what happen, where and how far.. But, when I need direction and detail like footsteps sound and gunshot direction I use KZ PR3.
r/iems • The IEM Pick Mega-Guide PART-1 ->Currently using the PR3s, they’re much better after you use them a while, either that or I’ve gotten used to it (doubt it being that I can still enjoy my Sony H.Ear On 3s without EQ).
r/iems • KZ PRX (the next in KZ’s Planar series) just arrived! ->From the PR series, I highly recommend the PRX. The others are great too, but if you have the PRX, I don’t think the PR2 is necessary. The PR3, on the other hand, is a special model—like an archaeologist uncovering details—but its treble can be fatiguing. In my opinion, the PRX and ZS10 Pro X should be enough for you right now. If you listen to electronic music, the PR3 can also add quality to your experience. Since it's a planar IEM, it produces sound well in fast-paced music. The PRX is also planar, but it leans more towards a musical tuning and behaves more like a dynamic driver.
r/iems • Help me pick my next IEM(s)! ->I'm using a set of KZ PR3 IEMs and a KZ AM1 USB-C to 3.5 audio dongle. (With my hearing loss, the standard audio jack in my Ally doesn't go loud enough for me to hear.
r/ROGAlly • What headset, headphones are you using? ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
