I've compared KZ Vader pro, KZ Castor pro & KZ ZS10 pro and I ended up with Vader pro due to tuning capability directly from the iem itself. Castor is more for music listening for me and ZS10 is at par with castor pro but external tuning. Moondrop for me is the starters so for gaming it's enough but not as exciting as Vader Pro. I have the Tangzu Red Lion and it's super bassy if you like that. I pair it with Fusi Audio K5 Pro DAC amp and it's good enough as I mainly game on PC and for traveling I pair it with TRN black pearl as I believe it's good enough for my lifestyle and routine.
The Kz EDX Pro X brought me into the Hobby of IEM, although im a newbie, i already upgraded to the Kz Vader pro, and planning to buy the Kz Duonic in the future, i love KZ
Cant really comment right now, because i realized the cheap dac i was using was holding back the Vader Pro, i have recently ordered a KZ AM02 DAC, so im still waiting for it to arrive, but when i use it in my cheap dac, the bass was thin not impactful the Treble is pretty crisp though.
maybe go for thr Normal Vader, liek the Vader Balance or High res, but the Vader Pro is pretty good for me

The KZ Vader Pro is my first IEM. Took some EQ tinkering but I like them. 😊
KZ Vader Pro (with switch) is very good. Most people run it uudd but I prefer it uddd. I've owned many $ _ _ _ iems in the past and these stand out the most to me in my opinion
I’ve got the Vader Pro Bass, the PR2, and the AM16. I love the AM16 and the PR2 is on my daily rotation, but the Vader… I tried, man. just can’t handle it
Long story short: when I bought my first IEMs back in June to listen to retrowave, I got the Castor Pro Harman and a dongle DAC with the same chips as yours. I had the same reaction you’re having now: they sounded thin and kind of lifeless. My ears were used to my earbuds, which have way more low-end, so I didn’t get the hype at all. I kept using them for a few days, and then one night, really late, when everything was quiet, it finally clicked. The issue was the seal. During the day I wasn’t getting a proper seal, so I couldn’t really hear what they were capable of. Once I did, I started noticing details I had never heard before. Even genres I didn’t care much about suddenly sounded amazing (jazz, strings, dream pop, electronic, etc.). I was impressed enough that I bought a second set because I read somewhere they were better (Vader). They’re not better, just different. Fast forward to today, I now own around 10 sets (mostly budget ones), plus a Bluetooth module, multiple cables, different eartips, and all that. For me, it came down to two things: getting a good seal, and giving your brain some time to adjust to the subtleties.
I have two sets of KZ. Castor Pros and Vader Pros. Both are reallllly good sounding to me, especially Harmon Target with adjustments. The Vader Pros are incredible, honestly. The Castor Pros are like BASS, but still tunable. Depends on what kind of bass you're looking for. Sub-bass is best on the Vaders.
Yeah I bought a cheap pair of KZ Vader Pros and a longer cable and they've been game changing. IEMs were like $30, cable was a bit less. Audio is much better than my old HD598s. Only thing is that they can get a little uncomfortable after a while so I'll switch back to the headphones once and a while if I'm just listening to music or watching a stream or something.
Bad PR history, and they did have a lot of 'misses' in the past. Some shops I know actively avoid them, not to boycott, but they are reluctant to deal with customer complaints about faulty units, when there is a good to fair chance its the 'fake drivers' shenanigans again. Plus every community need a heel, KZ plays that very well and keeps things exciting. It doesn't help that this community has an aversion to brands that pump out products very frequently, when in reality its a very respectable strategy. It allows non-enthusiasts to figure out their preference at a very low price. Imo recent KZ releases have been really good. I would have been a shill if they actually made shapes that can fit my ear without extensive tip rolling. Gale, Dawn, Zenith, Duet, ZVX Pro, Vader Pro, EDC Pro, all have been hits at their price brackets, and none of these are sets that you will feel pained if you end up misplacing them or damaging them by accident. I haven't tried the Hydro from their sister brand CCA, but some users have praised those sets into the high heavens. I unironically think KZ keeps the industry exciting. Having really respectable sets that can be priced similarly to a fancy meal should keep the other players nervous and honest.
