We have really good in-ear monitors now, no need for bulky headsets. Monitors will allow him to hear himself much better as well without needed to pipe his own playing back in to him. I usually suggest these to the budget conscious parents of by students. [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XXX7Q4H](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XXX7Q4H) They get much, much more expensive than these. These are just to trial to see if the player will actually use them and get any benefit. As far as a recording/playback setup, big can of worms. I'll leave others to that.

Kz zs10 pro (purple). I was an over the ear only person up until then, but needed something more portable for public transport. Now I'm on my 4th pair of iems each getting better/closer to what i consider perfect.

As someone that owns the prx, which i find to be extremely power hungry, he might want to look at the vader pro since it has more bass which will help in gaming (footsteps) and is the easiest to drive iem i own. Along with the prx and vader pro i also have the zs10 pro. I've powered all them with usb c dac, fiio btr11, and ae 01 and ae01 pro ear hooks.

this right here. i replaced my 20$ ear buds with $40 iems and i can actually hear the artists singing her own back up now. i have heard things i never heard before in songs i have listened to hundreds of times. its nice to be able to squeeze those extra drops of juice out of that old lemon. almost feels like a remastered song sometimes

Story is I never heard of iems and was using 20 dollars baseus Bowie ear buds and thought I had something good for the price. Then my nephew told me to listen to his kefine kleans and I was shocked. I did research and bought the zs10 pro and a 10$ DAC dongle they are almost as good. I'll probably eventually get the kleans.

The zs10 pro. The lack base and I had I get a DAC dongle. Id recommend the kefine kleans cuz my nephews says he doesn't hear any static when the volume is very low. I hear some in the zs10 pro and the Dac removed 80 percent of it or more. But Im literally just listening to music on YouTube videos not even a paid service.🤣🤣

KZ in ears are the standard affordable ones, sometimes listed with their parent company Linsoul. [Here’s one of their models.](https://a.co/d/hFhN4YO) They work great if you’re one of the lucky people that can wear regular earbuds, and their models range from $40-$100ish. If you’re like me and pulled the lucky straw of having weird shaped ear canals that don’t agree with standard earbud fittings, get a custom molded pair from [64 audio](https://www.64audio.com/pages/design-customs?model=A6t) and try not to cry at the price. And just so you’ve heard it - *be careful with volume with in ears!!!* You can do real damage with sound getting pumped right into your ear, especially over long periods of time. Please keep the volume low.

I have these as well and think they do more than an okay job for the price. They sound pretty good and can't even hear the pads when playing. Especially when applying along with music or metronome.

Yeah this. I have the Linsoul zs10 pro. Around 50.00 1 DD 4 BA iems and they sound amazing in my opinion. I've also bought the moondrop chu II and they sound really good too for like around 20 bucks.

in ear monitors (IEMs) are what nearly every singer uses. there is just no real comparison to floor monitors when it comes to the clarity you can achieve from hearing yourself. plus, a floor monitor adds to the over stage volume, making it harder for the singer to hear what they need to hear show after show, so that means the monitor needs to get louder and louder, and that means the other stage amps and speakers and monitors go up, and so on. IEMs give you access to private click tracks, as well as mixing in a talk-back mic for your band to use for cues and communication these IEMs https://a.co/d/0ifTuTPD and this headphone amp https://a.co/d/091RXWxs is where a LOT of folks have turned. low cost, great performance, and RELIABLE

so, the middleman so to speak between a band and a PA is the mixer. mixer recieves signals from mics and guitars and pianos and etc and you run each signal into the mixer on a per channel basis; channel one is vocals, channel two is the acoustic guitar, etc. alongside the mixer's Main Left & Right outputs usually are an array of other outputs often called Monitor outs. usually, each channel has a dial for how much of Channel 1 gets sent to Monitor 1, how much of Channel 2 gets sent to Monitor 3, etc. so, you can control how much and what is sent to each of the Monitor outputs. usually, this would end up makes sound come out of the floor Monitors, but you can just unplug the cable leading to your floor monitor and plug it into the headphone amp, or run your own cable from that Monitor output on the mixer to your headphone amp. wireless IEMs are a tricky thing. you really do get what you pay for with them. the trick with going wireless is how crowded the wireless spectrum gets once people are in the venue. laptops and tablets and cell phones etc all competing for some section of the spectrum of wireless connectivity, and this can lead to dropouts in connections between the mixer and your IEM receiver, so soundtrack might go fine but once there's 50 people in there all with their cell phones you might suddenly find that your IEMs are dropping out. reliable, dependable wireless IEM systems can be ridiculous in cost. if you aren't moving more than a 10 ft radius, go wired.

thats a common misconception. there are plenty of sturdy, ear canal gripping foam tips out there. your first IEMs don't need to be custom molded to be good and worth while. it's true, the seal your ear and the IEMs make determines the clarity you hear, but for example members of Vulfpeck uses those Amazon KZ model IEMs I sent you
