I have some kz zsn pro x iems, they're ok but they lack in bass and i just find over ear headphones more comfortable.

I wouldn't recommend zsn pro even X version which is alright but still not it imo. Also notice that iems are mostly just better value and more versatile in terms of comfort compare to gaming headsets and they won't significantly improve sound quality of sound cues in siege since the way sound works in siege even kilobuck open packs won't really make much difference. If u want iem advice better ask at related subs like r/iems r/headphoneadvice also on yt there's a guy named fresh reviews he does review iems for gaming specifically.

Yep, you can still hear the drums for sure. If you can't in the future, like when you're playing with guitarists and others, then it will be time to monitor yourself. But for now, you don't have to break the bank for your first pair of IEMs. These work just fine for me, although I did borrow the tips from another set of earbuds to make a better seal for my ears... https://a.co/d/dMXqOuL Let me know if you have any more questions! I sure don't mind answering and talking about drum stuff!

I had the ZSN Pro X, it was my first introduction to the Chi-Fi scene. You're right, it's quite the bang for the buck. It has a noticeable mid-scoop + bass-boost sound signature (which summarizes everything KZ does), but it is a good pair. I gave mine away to my bro, since while I don't like its boominess, it's still a good pair of IEMs. I switched to Moondrop Chu II, it's much flatter and has a bit more detail, while still in that 20 bucks range.

KZ ZSN Pro and more or less in parallel Samsung AKG if those count... And no not using anymore. The Samsungs are broken like the third time I think and the KZ are not my cup of tea but showed me, that there is more than just always using cheap *ss earbuds/in-ears for around 10 bucks. So I went on, on my journey and currently resting on my (amazing) Hype4. Thought they were my Endgame... But who knows...

I’ve used a set of hyperx clouds that were like £30 for the last 4 years… can’t fault them.. I recently just got some “kz Zsn pro” iem’s from Ali express for £3 and can’t fault them either… Some headphones do sound clearer but for me personally as long as there’s some form of soundstage you’re ears will adapt and learn player locations anyway… so yeah expensive headphones can be better .. but if your not listening out for what you need to hear it won’t make a difference … just make sure the headphones are comfortable and have a good seal

I recently got some kz zsn pro iem’s for £3 and it feels so much better not having a headset digging into my skull. Music is 10 times better compared to my hyperx clouds I had.. I will say gaming took a little getting used to, just because the difference in sound stage.. but overall I’d deffo say iem’s are the way to go especially with the price difference

Might get the KZ ZSN PRO’s, they’re cheap but more than enough for what I need. I agree that overear headphones may be better for a more immersive experience. But I love the crisp sound my old KZ’s gave me.

Hello, i've been using kz zsn pro and 7hz zero:2 for years. I decided it was time to upgrade since i got bored but don't wanna spend 200$ out of the blue without deciding what i like, so trying to go fairly cheaper with different iems. I am thinking about getting this set, do you recommend this or what would you recommend about this ? For more info, i listen to metal music generally. Hello, I know I’m a bit late to ask about this, but I’m having a hard time choosing an IEM. I don’t really like the KZ ZSN Pro X because it sounds a bit harsh and has a tearing effect to me. I’m used to wired Apple earphones, which sound fuller, have just the right amount of bass, and have good overall sound quality. What IEM would you recommend that’s close to the performance of Apple’s wired earphones? Thanks!

I would say try a 1+1 first, something basic like a ZSN pro 2, it will give you an idea of the sound separation and a taste of how BA drivers differ, since most hybrid IEMs use BA drivers. If you like it and want more, then you can start looking at different kinds of configurations. Another good one to try is KZ Castor or CCA Trio, which use 2 and 3 DDs respectively and also don't cost much.

r/iems • Multi driver vs single driver? ->

gobolin-deez-nuts • 7 months ago

ZSN Pro 2 is good and the cheapest you will see a real hybrid at. The highs can get a bit spicy so you might have to EQ, and there is some BA timbre but the technicals are very strong for the price and it's way better than last-gen KZ hybrids for the most part. I can't think of an IEM with more incisive mids without at least doubling if not tripling the price. Another good cheap KZ is Vader balanced. If you want to play it safe get the one without the switches, the tuning is a little bit more relaxed.

I like the Hexa but a lot of people don't. If you're just stepping your toes into hybrids I can recommend the ZS12 Pro X, I think it's actually more detailed and with stronger transients than the Hexa and you can get it for <$40. It might needs some EQ but then so does Hexa. Unfortunately a lot of reviewers are just overwhelmed with models or they don't even try sets they didn't get for free, so they overlook a lot of stuff. Every year there are 5-10 amazing IEMs that almost no-one did a YT video for.

In that case you're pretty much limited to KZ, or just "ok" sounding 1DDs like the Chu 2 or Zero 2. Castor is $12 and ZSN Pro 2 is $14, those both hit well above their price. You can get D-fi for that much but it's not really any better than a Chu or Zero. If you want a very cheap 1DD I would still get the Tanya or ipviq q-100 which is basically a Cadenza in a nicer shell, you can find that for <$20 on sale. You could probably find a CCA Trio or ZS10 Pro 2 on sale for <$30 too, or get a cheap PR2 and try to EQ it.

r/iems • For people who have tried a lot of iem’s, what are some cheap iem’s that sound really expensive? ->

gobolin-deez-nuts • 2 months ago

It's still the best entry hybrid overall I think, and even higher priced IEMs rarely sound so tonally correct. Yes the bass doesn't have a lot of oomph but I think it's enough for most music especially after you EQ. It has much more competition these days though. For example you can get a ZS12 Pro X for half the price and it is definitely more detailed, and has better bass, but it's not as accurate tonally and there is more BA timbre. Still, I think Hexa will always be a great neutral benchmark IEM.

It's ok! .. Salnotes 7hz zeros are neutral.. Well the first thing i would recommend, is to change the eartip ..try the narrow bore small size. It helps to lower down the brightness .. But if you have already tried it , then from my limited experience i think you find the signature too bright for your liking .. hence you try iems with "balanced sound signature" ( Tangzu waner sg 1/2 ) . They are comfortable for medium size ear canals and hold up to their reputation .. decent bass and easy mids and treble.. If you want to add another signature you can try something from the KZ line up KZ ZSN PRO X. it has punchy bass and bright highs ..V shaped basically. Extra tips .. 1. Go to youtube, learn how to use the Wavelet app for EQing ur iems . 2. try practicing listening to audio at volume less than 30-40% .. specially for longer listening sessions . 3. you can also add a dongle dac & amp for slight enhancement . like Shanling UA mini. Audiocular D07 ( look for mic pass through) / hpz x ddhifi dongle dac and amp .. cheers.

If you're trying to hear your drums through the interface, then you've got something setup wrong. I have a mixer now so I have all of my audio coming into channels 1 & 2 (L & R) from the computer then the other mic inputs go out to my in ears (KZ ZS10 Pros) That may be the difference. I do have some KZ ZST In Ears that were a little bit uncomfortable. But the ZSN Pros with the larger ear nubbies (which you should have gotten a littl pouch with different sized nubbies in it) fit perfectly in my ears. They came with no nubbies on them. I pulled 2 medium sized ones out and they weren't quite right. So I swapped them out for the largest pair in the package and that's what I've been using ever since. Now, as far as hearing your drums through the in-ears. Yeah, I do kind of hear them under what's coming through the in-ears themselves. But it's not distracting me at all because it's all real time so what the interface is picking up, I'm hearing it as soon as I hit the drums. I probably can't help you with software or device settings especially if you're using Windows or Mac (I use Linux) but essentially it's the same I think. you have to select the interface as your output device. This lets you record direct to the computer. I also am plugged directly into the mixer so I'm hearing everything (drums and the music I'm playing along with) going directly into my ears in real time. So, you may have a switch off or main volume knob too low or something because if you're going direct to the interface with headphones, then you should be able to hear the mics. You shouldn't even need a computer to hear the mics if your in ears are connected to the interface. I had a Behringer 1820i (8 port interface) and I was able to hear everything through hat interface just fine. Even the music I was playing along to. I set the main volume for that on the PC. Then that fed into the interface in the audio settings and I could control the volume for everything going to my ears with the interface. It's been a while since I've used an interface so I honestly couldn't tell you how I set that up unfortunately. But, getting the audio from the PC to the interface through USB should be easy enough as long as you have that USB Device setup properly and the volume levels are up high enough so you can hear them okay.

Its just a KZ thing bro, I remember back in 2020 when I got my first pair (zsn pro x) I had this exact same feeling, but after some time I got a good Dac and did some experiment with the ear tips and trust me after sometime you will definitely get used to it. So my advice would be experiment with different ear tips, get a pair of memory foam ear tips. Give your ears sometime to get used to this sound signature and you will not regret it :). If you are all set on getting something else because you just can't deal with this sound signature then you can get Kinera Celest Abyss (For slightly better bass) or Kiwi ears Cadenza (for much better bass) or Truthhear Zero red (For better sub bass). I don't think any music app will make it better I use youtube music and have tried apple music, Spotify didn't make much difference.

Hi everyone, I currently own KZ ZSN PRO X, my first IEM. I use it daily and in overall Im pretty satisfied with it; however, I listen mostly to rock/punk and sometimes indie pop and i feel like its time to retire my kz zsn pro x for something that suits my music taste better and can give me more details. Sennheiser IE 200 is comfortably in my budget. Im pretty amateur, so can you tell me how much of an upgrade is Sennheiser IE 200? Thanks for answering. First of all I dont know much "technical terms" so it may sound weird when I put it like this: - Basses are fine in kz BUT it is like they do not "retract" right away so in rock songs where there are constant drum+bass, guitar and vocal is usually drowns in "trails" of basses. I like basses but only when they dont drown my mids and highs. I will be fair, kz is not the worst i used in this sense. it feels like its better with electronic basses rather than drums/bass guitars. -Back vocals are there in kz but i cant really "feel" them. Like i hear them but cant focus on them as they are very faint. I love my back vocals. So, I want to hear every instrument + vocals in modern rock songs without drowning each other with a good sound quality. If it makes sense.

I got a few different sets including the ZSN Pro, but they are impressive considering what they cost. I think the best pair I've got are Pro X V2 or something, then there's a couple more models above those that I don't have. I'm sure someone will come along in a minute and tell me they're terrible, but so far they've only been super helpful for me, as I said before, trying to make beats and so forth with headphones or regular earbud type things has never worked for me til I tried these. I'm sure there's better out there, but for how much more outlay? These things cost about the same as a burger, fries and a drink from Five Guys lol

Dude listen, you’re not crazy. I had the ZSN Pro X, while it sounded great to my ears when I first got them, ZSN Pro 2 sounds significantly better in my ears, like pretty damn amazing. And also, I had ZS10 Pro X as well, and recently got the ZS12 Pro X and it sounded miles and above better than the ZS10…it’s is highly technical with absolutely fantastic soundstage and not at all sibilant with the 4th switch up. Tldr; I think it is simply a case of either upgraded BA drivers in these two newer iterations of KZ or much better tuning. ZS12 Pro X for me is one of the most underrated technical IEMs out there.

I'm pretty new to IEMs, still exploring budget range. Started off with KZ ZSN Pro, & it is still my daily driver. I got a Hexa last year, liking it but then I realized I prefer bright IEMs better, hence why I use ZSN pro regularly. And just yesterday I received my Tangzu Wan'er. I like the brightness of it, but the bass is a real turn off for me. Just bought it since it's on sale, & wanted to try out new things. Now that I read this post, how's Castor when it comes to the vocals? I'm not much of a basshead, but I do appreciate a good bass output, without compromising the mids & highs.

I agree with you on good sealing and a good fit. I am also an audio enthusiast with a collection of KZ iems (more thn 20 iems) and other brands too, including the KZ ZSN Pro X that I purchased 6 years ago and is still working well. I have not had any quality control issues with KZ iems so far. However, I have found that the cables and eartips from KZ are below average, so I often replace them with different options. I have discovered that using high-quality eartips can significantly improve the sound quality of KZ iems. Despite being more interested in iems priced above $150-$200, I continue to purchase KZ iems based on positive reviews and their affordability. I recently ordered the KZ Saga from Aliexpress for around $10.

Here is my list of headphones and iems that I have used to play games that are better than my Hyperx Cloud 2: Headphones - Philips SHP 9500 - Philips X2HR - Takstar Pro 82 - Oneodio Pro50 And more expensive ones that are too obvious like Hifiman Ananda. IEMs - Tin Hifi C2 Mech Warrior - Moondrop Aria - Moondrop May - Tangzu Heyday - 7hz Timeless AE - KZ Zsn pro - KZ ZS10 Pro X ALL that you cant get the most out of with something like a Moondrop Dawn Pro Dac/amp or similar. In my experience, any decent headphone or iem gives a better sound experience than most high end gaming headsets, you Just Need to do a little research on sound signature that you think you Will like and see what its best within your budget. In the long run its always better to invest in proper audio gear because you cant replace most things that break easily.

The in ear that made me fala in love with headphones in general was the Philips SHE 9000. I had an Xperia Phone back then and I had a blast with those. First pair of proper iems were the KZ ZSN pro with the meizu HiFi Dac, mindblowing for the time. A While later I got the Moondrop Aria that made the KZ sound like trash and Just a bit after I got the 7hz Dioko that made the Aria sound like a muffled boomy mess too. And that went on for a While until I got to the Tangzu Heyday and 7hz Timeless AE. Now I have my endgame but I still collect cheaper iems.

It was KZ ZSN Pro. Used them for 4+years and just last week my cable got torn. They were and are still good for me. Kinda in the midst of looking for new iems. Eyes specially on 7hz salnotes and vivace but yet to make a decision

ZS10 Pro X here as well. Not the best, but absolute best bang for the buck hands down. Will give a run for the money of 300-400€ Shures etc. Just get proper foams with them and they are near perfect. And so cheap you can get a few pairs extra just in case they arnt as robust as the big brand names. After a year though I have zero issues

Hi, thanks for replying:) I’m currently using UUDU, I think I’m doing well. I don’t know if there is any difference if I have switch 4 on top instead of switch 3. So far I love them, I think they are too good, but of course, I come from a zs10 pro x and I’m just getting to know this world haha. How are the rampsody by the way? :)

Hello! I have the ZS10 PRO X. No. It’s not a good iem. Far too V shape and super sharp. Not a good gaming iem. Look into the EPZ Q1 PRO ($30~). It has amazing Sound stage and imaging for gaming. Also look into the Simgot EM6L ($110).

I've used the following models with success on stage and rehearsals (I play the drums): ZVX, ZS10 Pro X, Libra, Krila, Vader. At least the first two are sensitive enough to go loud even with a wimpy amp. Like you I previously used Shure 215's (and 315's). For years. And any of the models I mentioned sounds better to my ears.

You can find the zs10 pro x on ali for 20. There is a peak around 10k-ish that you can tame if you want but what's important is that dip around 4-6k in the presence region and the more linear bass boost. I genuinely couldn't believe how good it was for mixing and mastering with those two things in check.

From the PR series, I highly recommend the PRX. The others are great too, but if you have the PRX, I don’t think the PR2 is necessary. The PR3, on the other hand, is a special model—like an archaeologist uncovering details—but its treble can be fatiguing. In my opinion, the PRX and ZS10 Pro X should be enough for you right now. If you listen to electronic music, the PR3 can also add quality to your experience. Since it's a planar IEM, it produces sound well in fast-paced music. The PRX is also planar, but it leans more towards a musical tuning and behaves more like a dynamic driver.

Been using this to play COD since 2 days (4 hours each day) https://preview.redd.it/7wjlmuf60ise1.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=78054a2a67181ff5552c8d396b5a1ea61dbc8147 I just got my hands on the 7Hz G1, and after testing it extensively, I have to say—this IEM is an absolute beast for gaming! **Build & Specs:** Driver: 1 Dynamic Driver Tuning: Fairly balanced with a wide soundstage Volume & Bass: Both are solid, no complaints here **Music Performance:** I'll be honest—while the G1 sounds good for music, it doesn’t quite have the same excitement factor as my other IEMs. I find my KZ Castor Pro and ZS12 Pro X to be better for music and movies. The G1 is clear and detailed, but it just doesn’t hit that "wow" factor for pure music enjoyment. **Gaming Performance - A-Tier!** Where the 7Hz G1 truly shines is in gaming. I tested it on Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (Nuketown) and Warzone, and the experience was nothing short of amazing. (Warzone only for 4 hrs as it is paused for today) **Here’s what stood out:** Insanely Wide Soundstage – The G1 made Nuketown feel HUGE. Warzone’s larger maps are even more immersive. Pinpoint Positional Accuracy – I could clearly track footsteps, gunshots, and even subtle movements. Whether enemies were on the left, right, front, back, above, or below, I could hear it all. Crystal-Clear Footsteps & Cues – Footsteps were loud enough without getting underpowered by other sounds such as gunshots, grenades etc. DTS:X Ultra + Shooter Mode – I used this combo with no EQ, and it worked perfectly. Best COD Audio Setting? – I tried Treyarch Mix, Headphones, and Sucker Punch, but Home Theater Mode worked best for me. It made everything sound even more massive, immersive, and lifelike—I felt like I was actually inside the game. **Final Thoughts - Is It Worth It?** If you're looking for an IEM specifically for gaming, 7Hz G1 is an absolute steal. I was considering buying an expensive IEM just for gaming, but this saved me so much money while delivering performance a lot better than my expectations. I loved it! For music, it’s decent but doesn’t replace my Castor Pro or ZS12X. But for gaming? Easily the best IEM I’ve ever used. If you want insane spatial awareness, wide soundstage, and accurate positional audio for FPS games—this is the one to get. **(Do not spend anything more than this just for gaming because I think post this every other iem will have a diminishing return).** Let me know if you have any questions!

I haven't tried zs10 pro. I do use zs12 pro x for music. zs12 pro x felt a little sharp for me during gunshots. g1 is more balanced. you can let me know what you are exactly looking for. I'll suggest.

Of course lol, especially with planars. I’m willing to bet a lot of imbalance issues will pop up at the very least. I do enjoy the zs12 pro x that I recently got though. $30 banger.

From your list, the ZS12 Pro X tuning version, though. Imo, it's a good technical over musical iem. https://youtu.be/l44h-KeOocE?feature=shared Around the 5 minute mark, he discusses gaming performance.

I own both the ZSN Pro 2 and Chu 2 DSP. ZSN is a bit better for rock and EDM, but Chu 2 is preferred in a song that has female lead vocals. As for the DSP let's say it's just a bonus equalizer. I've tried the salnotes and am not a fan of the tuning.

I got the ZSN Pro 2 to replace my ZSN pro X. The bass is good not that boomy, decent rumble, but the vocals are not the forte, a bit of sibilance in high pitched female vocals. This iem excels in metal and rock music, I mainly listen to BMTH and some other metal music. Compared to Chu 2 DSP, I'd rather listen to metal and rock with this iem, because the instrument position and soundstage is better in the KZ. I use this as a daily beater because it's more fun sounding and build quality of the cable is better than the Chu 2 DSP. I use it while commuting with my motorcycle.

The Pro. I also have the Pro X (considering getting the Pro2 as well). The ProX didn’t wow me like the original did but it fixed some of the treble glare that made the original fatiguing. It might be that the original made the stronger impression simply because it was the first set that wowed me.

I have well over 1000 spent on iems now lol and I've bought the kz zs10 pro and pro x multiple times I like it so much lmao. I probably won't use it after recently getting my fatfreqs but I gotta say something about the zs10 just slaps right man. I've gifted these to people and they always are shocked. Id say don't buy some of their other models knows for having pointless crossovers but that's about it.
