Based on 1 year's data from Feb 24, 2026 How it works
I recently got the FAN 3S and I honestly can’t take them out of my ears. I just love the sound and the FEEL of the BC.
They sure do. I recently got the Penon Fan3s (after lusting over the Fan3 for 2 years). While they are darn good, and the BCM is an experience, I have already gone back to the T10. Price notwithstanding, I think they are my favorite set ever and I’ve been in the hobby (mid-tier) for 20 years.
Sure you have yours turned on? Mine were defaulted off when I got mine from Penon.
Gotcha. I thought mine were busted at first and had to check headfi. The markings for the switch were also confusing to me because ON could of meant NO and 1 in binary is ON.
Same issue but solved it with sancai tips. I'm usually a medium size but since the Fan3 is a deep fit they get sancai smalls
If you're ever in the market again for bone conductors, the best at $350 or $200 on sale I found were the Penon Fan3s but for clarity I'd go with the Winds $250, though they lack fun bass they are crystal clear.
I've tried iems from 90 to 350 dollars, all of which were bone Conductors. Plutus Beast $89, Pula Anvils $200, $240 Winds, Winter ultras $250, DMA $300, and Fan3s $350. I found detailing and good separation definitely sounded better on more expensive iems for the most part. Even after trying all Bone Conductors under 400 I still find myself wanting something more, I love the Fan3s but it still has some siblance issues and requires a good bit of power to use at $350 without a discount. The cheapest sounded ok then I got the anvils and was so happy. Then I tried the winds and realized separation and crescendos sucked on anvils but it wasn't bassy and rumbly. So I got the winter ultras and they just sucked at the same price point. So then I got the DMAs and they were pretty good but had issues with separation too. Still liking the Winds at 250 bucks, but needed fun bass. The Fan3s have great details and fun. And is the best I have tried so far. So I guess it just depends. But it does get better, the next jump up for me would be $500 for the new Flipears Aegis. But I just can't drop that easily. Already told the wife no more than 300 lol. I think at $300ish you can find a great set and I've heard great things about the tea pros. I just found bone conductors fun and it helped limit my choices because there are a crap ton of IEMs on the market. Good luck
Penon Fan 3 was goated, one of the best midrange I've heard in terms of musicality/enjoyment. Maybe less correct sounding than Tanchjim but it's a nice colouration.
Recently picked up the FAN3S and I'm having absurd amount of pressure build up just from inserting the tips no matter what tips I use excluding foam tips cause they just aren't for me. I'm in contact with their support, going to see how they remedy situation and whether they win or lose a customer for life.
As someone that has the Fan3s and the Kb02, I can offer a little insight into this. Like you said, the Kb02 has the springy-ness when you tap the shell and there's some sort of resonance feedback at certain frequencies, but the Fan3s does not have that effect whatsoever. By no means am I a Penon Fan3s, quite the contrary, the Fan3s was my first purchase, but I've had nothing but issues with them to the point I had to send them back for inspection. I don't feel the BCD rattled and provided more bass, but they do provide a soundscape that is different than traditional hybrid driver IEMs. One that is more holographic and 3d, it's less apparent with music but I can tell the difference when gaming.
For me the Penon Fan 3s with space cable for 160,- 🤩
i literally have my fan 3s in right now ! one of my favorites for sure, especially at 50% off
For gym id get something like the jabra elite active 75t. You can get them under $100 now and they still sound very good for tws. I have hype 4's, fan 3 and cklvx d62 and they're great, but I throw on my elite 75t when mowing lawn or going out on walks. They have app with eq and they sound pretty great even compared to my wired good iems.
They are definitely worth it and get the PEQ from Ducbloke for the Fan 3 then you will hear their full potential
I have a Fan 3s (only my second day!) and am super disappointed so far. I got it with the 50% off code and I still feel like it's not worth the price. Weirdly enough, I really like the tuning. The sound quality just seems to go from awesome during intros, acoustic, to sounding really cheap once all the other instruments kick in. Hard to describe exactly what I mean, but it's like it suddenly turns in to a 128kbps MP3. Its funny because I'm now in two minds. One is "Penon sucks" and the other is "I really like the tuning, maybe I should buy a more expensive one"
I've long been Penon curious and got the Fan 3s this week and there is NO WAY it is worth the RRP without the 50% off. It can sound great, but it falls apart in busy songs that my $35 KZ AM16 handles better. It's a shame, because the tuning is nice. For some music it's gorgeous, but it really struggles with a lot of my library and sounds more like a cheap $30 single DD. when it gets busy.
Nope, bone conduction was my main curiosity so I bought a lot! I've got Kb02, Kiwi Ears Etude, Apevoix Grit (the Anvil's sister), Penon Fan 3s, BGVP DMA. I've not tried the KB03- I have been tempted but reviews seem to be all over the place! My point is definitely not to put you off, because each of these IEMs is brilliant for their price (apart from the Fan 3s) It's more a warning not to expect a huge difference, and better implementation usually means subtlety. My personal recommendation to experience BC would be the Etude- because it's a great sounding IEM on its own, and the vibration is obvious at high volume.
Yeah they seem like quite a weird company tbh, I think they only sell through their own website and AliExpress shop, have a few chosen reviewers etc. I can at least say I'm not one of those because I got the Penon Fan3s and it was crap... I really didn't have a lot of faith when I got the Armor but thankfully it turned out to be my best IEM. Martilos were number 1 before the Armor arrived- they're similar. I prefer the Armor because it has more mid-bass and warmth, so every instrument hits with a punch (the Martilo is more sub-bass) and the treble is smoother and more natural. However, if you've got Monarch money, it may be worth you going up. My dream IEM is the Penon Archangel but I'd have to sell everything else before I get that! There's also a ton of brands I've never heard of selling things for $1000+ Look on Headfi at the reports from Canjam last weekend. Hercules Noah and BGVP Astrum got a lot of hype.
Great, but I almost never have fit issues. Only one IEM was a problem (Penon Fan 3s)
The Fan 3s was my biggest disappointment. I get absolutely none of the soundstage or timbre, it sounds so cheap to me. Just goes to show how different people can feel about IEMs! Glad you love it.
Yeah, I don't get anything on the BC from these! The switch makes a difference holding them, but in my ear it just doesn't work.
Yeah it's just bad news all round, I never normally struggle with fit but for some reason with the Fan3s I had to struggle to find any tips that gave a solid seal. It's either incompatible with my ear or I have a dodgy one!
