I was debating whether to get these or the hype 4, but I had a good deal on Hype 4 and went for that one. I also had Penon Fan 3 at the same time, and albeit more Technical and with more enjoyable bass than the Fan 3. I simply much more preferred th vocal section of penon. Now You are stating that the tea pro sounds natural, that rekindled my curiosity in them. I might give them a shot after all. Wish they looked more like the MK2 though, that one was beautiful, this is nice but hmm, too feminine for me. P.S I also have the zen dac v2 and indeed going from low to high gain boost the dynamics in headphones and iems a bit. I imagine that’s what happened from 3.5 to 4.4, more power, more agile drivers hence “better” :)

I don’t want to insult anyone but you forgot that majority of humans out there are ignorant morons. There I said it. I even pointed them to warm, bassy iem example done right ( we judge only the tuning ) not the price, as this could have been made of off cardboard and dirt cheap otherwise. The Penon Globe. i also own the Penon Fan OG which is a single DD iem that is bassy and warm. I love my Sivga Que as well. So all of them are more expensive, yes, but it’s mostly about tuning. If we would strip the much nicer cable, accessories, packaging and build quality. In the end the single dd driver in China on the oem market can be had for 1$ or maybe even pennies. Let the body be plastic, I don’t care but those people telling me that this thing rocks, and beats Performer 5+2 or Hype2? That sounds like being delusional, I would advise those individuals to simply lower the treble region and/or boost the bass region and clearly here which thing remains superior. But at the end of a day, you need to remember. Trying to shove facts or knowledge to certain heads is like trying to revers a nile with a tooth pick. “ A monkey in silk is a monkey no less “

We could basically throw every Penon and ISN iem on the list as well. Still too little people know of their existence. But from the more recent and still obtainable for many I’d say Penon Fan 3 with 50% off coupon and definitely ISN H60 which is now available in black. And the good ol’ Penon serial.

I also own HD 660s and have Focal Azurys :D I would look into Penon/ISN i have the Penon Fan 3 and it’s similar to HD660s but a bit smoother with better bass. It has those sweet, smooth Penon Mids that are super natural and coming from sennheiser you will feel right at home with Penon/ISN. Isn Neo 5 is slightly above your budget, but is worth sprinkling those extra 39 bucks Honestly I’m not sure why so little people even know about Penon/Isn. They make FANTASTIC iems.

Sure thing, no problem. Look at squiglink the Volare is your well tuned Harman V. Mega5 est bass+ ( a mouthfull ) is a tilted one. The price difference between them is minimal, but the Volare has 4 BAs and 4 EST drivers adding a DD that’s 9 drivers per side. So I can assume the texture on those will be better having more drivers. But that being said tuning is what makes all the difference. That’s why my most beloved iem is the 70-75$ Sivga Que And maybe Penon Fan 3 as they are tuned very similarly. And being a single DD you can’t best it’s cohesive and natural flavour :)

I have Sennheiser HD660s and the soundstage is shit for openback. I also have albeit closed Focal Azurys and it’s the same. Focals are not known for having a good spundstage, even their flagship Utopia. The Sennheisers for soundstage to get would be HD800s, but that’s pricey. But they are some if not THE best for it alone. If You wan’t to go headphones route, go on hifiman’s website and look for refurbished edition xs or Ananda Nano. If iems, I already suggested Xenns Mangird Tea pro up top. A notch higher would be Xenns Top. I also had Penon Fan 3 with bone conduction driver, that „expanded” the stage, but iems are not the soundstage monsters anyway. Openback planar headphones would be my pick for that purpose.

Gotcha. I thought mine were busted at first and had to check headfi. The markings for the switch were also confusing to me because ON could of meant NO and 1 in binary is ON.

I have the xenns tea pro paired to my btr15 via 4.4 and it’s a killer set up.. the tea pros are 350$ on amazon and linsoul.com.. they are warm and thick with no sibilance.. they are an amazing all around set, balanced with a bit of emphasis on the bass.. all metal shell build, great case, good selection of tips and an interchangeable termination cable with 3.5 and 4.4 included… I also own the Penon fan 3 which is also around 350$.. it’s bone conduction is pretty unique.. the Moondrop Duck is also one to mention at the 350$ mark also.. it comes with a dsp cable that has 5 different peq’s settings plus a 3.5mm cable.. I’ve never heard it but very popular… and then at the 500$ price there’s the hisenior mega5est.. a very neutral tuned iem.. my vote would be the tea pros.. but there’s a couple great recommendations you can start researching reviews on to get a better take on each one.. good luck and welcome back..!

Absolutely the tea pro do an amazing job.. I also just bought the penon fan 3.. it has bone conduction which gives me the punchy bass in the kick drum that I’ve been craving.. I like the bass of the penon fan 3 better than the tea pro.. but like everything else on the tea pro better than the penon.. for me they’re almost sixes.. I don’t think you could go wrong with either of these iems as an end game with the library you have.. both are in the 350$ ballpark.. I would wait till 11/11 to buy the xenns from linsoul tho.. most likely going to be on sale.. as for the penon you’d have to order it from penon and I don’t know if they have any sales going on.. I did see a used set either on headfi or on r/AVexchange for a pretty good deal tho.. good luck..

For gym id get something like the jabra elite active 75t. You can get them under $100 now and they still sound very good for tws. I have hype 4's, fan 3 and cklvx d62 and they're great, but I throw on my elite 75t when mowing lawn or going out on walks. They have app with eq and they sound pretty great even compared to my wired good iems.

Dang that’s a solid collection, I want to try the bajie and the isn ebc. I do have the penon fan 3 though, but barely used it. Still gotta tip roll that one, and I think the btr7 might be too high output impedance for that. Been enjoying my tea pros and performer 7 quite a bit more, and with my new Cayin ru6…..holy smokes! Never tried an r2r until now.

Explorer is an EXCELLENT choice. Own and love them. But my favorite under $300 is most definitely the Penon Fan 3. Retails for $350 but can be purchased new for much less with the Penon VIP email code.

Sign up for the email list at the Penon website. Almost certain you'll receive a code for the Fan 3 within a few weeks. Trust me: The discount and the Fan 3 are worth the wait.

Space cable. Balanced bass, exquisite mids, solid treble extension. But the imaging is INSANE, as the BCD creates almost a holographic effect. Wide soundstage from BCD, too. Plus they fit me very, very well. The timbre isn't completely authentic, mainly due to the BCD. So, if you crave total timbral accuracy, steer clear. But the sonic colorization creates an intoxicating sound -- I can't get enough of it! -- that works well with a lot of genres.

Which one did you get, the Explorer or Fan 3? P.S.: I just tested the Airoso. Totally unimpressed. Thin, reedy sound -- I guess that's why "Air" is part of its name. Major letdown, and I'm NOT a basshead.

It can take up to six weeks to receive the code. It's not instant.

Don't know -- am so stoked with sound with BCD on that I never flipped the switch! I bought these solely for the BCD implementation, and they have not disappointed.

You should get a unit with a bone conduction driver (BCD) if you crave wide stage and pinpoint imaging. BCD really brings out those two aspects of sound. If you can stretch your budget a bit, Penon Fan 3 is superb at $175, but you need to join the Penon VIP email list at the Penon website and wait a few weeks until you receive a code to get that price, which is 50 percent off. It will happen; you just need to be patient. The Pula Anvil also is an excellent BCD set for around $199. I own the Fan 3 and have tested the Anvil extensively. Both are lovely, but I would go for the Fan 3 with the VIP code. I'm also testing the KiwiEars Aether now. Very good for a big planar driver. No BCD. It's $135 at Amazon right now. Very nice imaging, but stage isn't huge. Still, balanced sound. Don't sleep on the Kefine Klean (single dynamic driver) or Artti T10 (single planar driver), either. Both have excellent balance and vocal clarity, with solid stage and imaging, at just $50 each. Punch WAY above their weight despite no BCD.

Fan 3 the width is huge and brings a smile to my face- day this as an audio professional of over 10 years - Umm whats up with Airoso- feeling like my fit isn’t right but the hype to quality ratio is odd - bloated bass and strange mids with highs that peak out at inopportune times- so think I near to try some different tips tho
