"There is a song called Melt - Into the Blue, and the I tro has massive bass. And on the Martillo is super deep. But what I didn't realize was that at the end of the first verse where he says "into the blue" before it goes into the bridge, the bass just complete drops through the floor. Never heard that bit of the song pulled out like that."

"This segment, I believe, also demonstrates on how well the Punch Audio Martilo can take EQ and with this level of a change in eartips can have its sound altered, giving me a fun experiment where instead of seeing myself be disappointed; makes me instead adore the Martilo even more. ... I could definitely still see myself owning the Martilo, because of how good the product overall is- my whole time with the Martilo was cherished very well, and the part that impresses me the most is how well it can shapeshift when I change things up with the EQ and switching over to wide bores, to have a glimpse with how it would have sounded had it not been tuned overly warm"

"what I really miss, are the mids. It feels like voices are thin and I cannot make them loud enough before the bass and treble gets too annoying. ... For example, when I listen to something Boris Brejcha, the synthesizers and horns are just not tight enough and fun. I want louder but there's already too much bass and treble to up the volume. I have the 7hz Legato...and I wanted a basshead upgrade. The Martilo reviewed well from the YT reviewers I trust. From what I've seen...they are good value at their normal MSRP. So I pulled the trigger now, since they are on sale for me. Especially because I'm based in the US...prices off AliEx and other Asian outlets will likely get more expensive because of that guy🤬

Punch Audio Martilo…the mids are not put in the back seat…the bass is there when it’s present in the track. This is not a warm set at all. BUT it has a significant bass shelf. The Hisenior Caño Cristales has been reviewing well…that might be your best bet.

I have the Martilo...love them. Sub bass rumble...check. mid bass punch and slam...check. No mud in the mids...and the details and shimmer still there in the treble. Male or female Vocals are not shouty. They don't sound V-shaped...which is quite surprising

I have the Explorer, Defiant and Martilo. I don't hear the similarities between the Defiant and Martilo as you do. They both have a similar approach to songs. If the sub-bass is there...you will hear it. More so the Martilo. The Explorer is bassy...but not basshead. In fact...I don't classify the Martilo as basshead either. Give KBears Rosefinch a twirl first. It's a budget set...but it's THE budget basshead set. See if that's what you're looking for. I also have the 7Hz Legato. For me, the Legato is more "basshead" than Martilo. It's not as warm overall as the Explorer, but the are definitely more in the low-end. You may have to step up into FatFreq territory for more mid-bass along with the sub-bass rumble. Keep in mind...how bass is presented also depends on how mids and treble are set. Pulling both of those back slightly can greatly increase bass response

Since there are 4 different sets of tuning nozzles plus tuning foam. You can tune it to your liking. I have the Martilo for hip hop. The warmer nozzles along with short ear tips would suit hip hop no problem. I picked these over the Aether. Definitely think I.made the right choice for me

Yea for sure, they were great, super comfortable also, my brother has them now, so can still use them whenever. He had momentum's aswell, and yea super muddy without EQ. I currently run punch audio martilo as my daily iem, but while working buds are a lot nicer. I am definitely a bass head.. but I like clarity not muddy so these and the noble Fokus are a perfect combo for me.

It will be easy to make changes to the lower and mid end, but the problem with the Martilo will be that the entire tuning is based around high amounts of bass. There is no 5128 response listed, so trying to correct the higher end will be even more of a guessing game to balance it all out to preference once the low end is cut with the mids boosted. It's probably better to buy something more towards neutral with some extra bass, with a 5128 response listed, then EQ that to taste. It also of course depends how long you want to spend testing different settings.

Hi guys, a few months ago I saw an interesting format in the watches sub and I decided to take inspiration from it. I recorded the hours of my IEMs used in the last 2 months, in total I stopped at just over 400 hours, it was an interesting experiment especially to understand what I can sell and what is not used. I'll leave you some impressions and comments:) * Punch audio Martilo: In the end they were my most used between Work, Music, Gym and Gaming. I must say that lately I listen to a lot of phonk * Tangzu Tianpeng: They replaced my Bajie, excellent quality and accessories for more refined listening at home or excellent for gaming * Tanchjim Force: They are becoming my favorites, already heard at various fairs and lent by a friend, excellent aesthetic and design, sound similar to my beloved Meteor, but they are less goofy and therefore I can also wear them on trains or at work, I will definitely increase the hours * Moondrop Kadenz: Great all-rounders, simply top, but I'm using the Forces more for a similar sound. They're perfect for work. * Moondrop Meteor: Among my favorite flagships, but I'm more comfortable with the Tanchjim as they are more discreet, I listen to the Meteor at home in peace * Fatfreq Deuce: They were the most used for the same reasons as the Martilo, but I prefer the Punch Audio for design and comfort. The bass is perfect in both.

I have the mega5est and the meteors, I love the meteors, they are a warmer set, with a mildly recessed eargain and low treble, leading into a non fatigued mid and upper treble. They sound good, they are a non vented set so the pressure in your ears can affect comfort. The mega5est, well its the megabest. With a shallow insertion depth they can be a hair bright in the treble region so be sure to get a deep fit in my opinion, the mid range into the upper bass is amazingly natural and leads into a pretty decent bass boost. To me they are exactly how most would describe them, a nearly perfect neutral tuning with bass boost if you consider a 10db tilted target neutral. I love them. There my favorite set of 11. I still buy others for different flavor. The set i just got that is like the mega5est with just even more bass, the punch audio martillo is a hair brighter in the ear gain lower treble area, same great mid range and the bass starts at the same point leading up m, but it has several db more boost over all. Its a basshead/edm lovers set with great mids instead of the common dip i see around 3 too 500 hz. I have yet to hear the dunu set.

the monarch mkiv can sound jarring if you’re coming from a warmer iem (i have the sa6 mk2 and it’s hard for me to categorize. sometimes it sounds warm, sometimes it sounds open and bright—not sure how you hear it). but, since it’s already in your hands, i’d give it some more time. just today, i put mine on and found them to be warmer than i remembered. sometimes it just depends on what you heard last, how tired you are, etc. otherwise, maybe the mega5est. it’s more vocal forward than the sa6 mk2 and more conventionally tuned, so it would complement your sa6 by giving you something that sounds a little more proper while being more laid back and natural than the monarch mkiv. you also don’t give up too much in terms of technicalities. coming from the monarch mkiv, the bass will definitely sound less defined, but i think it fits the overall sound signature well. some people call the mega5est boring, but musicality is subjective and hard to define. i’m a neutral head and the mega5est has a touch more warmth and bass than what i consider neutral, so in that sense, it’s musical to me. if you want to be risk-averse, the ziigaat arcanis has pretty much replaced the sa6 mk2 in my rotation. it’s what i expected the sa6 mk2 to sound like (and what i wanted the mega5est to sound like). a bit more sub bass and bit more satisfying bass overall. i find the upper mids and vocals of the sa6 mk2 to be too recessed and the arcanis addresses this by bringing them forward just a smidge (but not as much as the mega5est). vocals have a vibrant quality to them that you might consider musical. and there is just enough treble extension to give it air and sparkles. it doesn’t come across as technical as the sa6 mk2, but all of the details are still there. it’s unique and i actually like it more than the mega5est, but that comes down to how it fits in my collection penon/isn has been recommended a lot. i can vouch for the ebc80. its warm, has phenomenal sound stage, and is super fun. it isn’t fatiguing at all to me, but it doesn’t really fall under the category of laid back. their other iems might for the bill, though. these recommendations i think would be an “upgrade” to the sa6 mk2. however, my philosophy is that for a laid back sound, you don’t need to spend a lot of money. so personally, my warm, laid back iem is the ziigaat arcadia. it’s warm, punchy, has just enough treble, and with the right tips, can sound just as well-executed and beautiful as anything in the $200-$250 range. i prefer it to my penon serial and canon 2 for this purpose. i’ve also been going to the odyssey 2 a lot for a laid back listen, though it is not as warm. the punch audio martilo is also a good choice if you think you can tolerate a lot of sub bass. it sounds mostly normal and conventional, which, like the mega5est, could complement the sa6 mk2 well. when there isn’t a lot of sub bass in a song, it doesn’t sound like a bass head iem. but when there is, the bass sounds like you have a sealed subwoofer in front of your face.

Em6L or Supermix4, top end being Kiwi Astral, Ziigaat Crescent, Punch audio martilo are going to be the top for gaming outside of spending $450-550, get a Dac and amp or an all in one combo, life will be perfect afterwords for gaming and everything else, movies even single player games. Highly recommend dx5ii for gaming and scalpel like clean precise sound, you'll be clairvoyant in FPS where sound is mandatory.

Edit: Now that I have the Ziigaat crescent and the Punch audio martilo.. id put any of those up there with the Astral.. really need to spend some crazy time on all 3 of these because they are so f'n good. :) Astral remains daily driver unless i need something exciting for killing floor or single player then I throw on the martilo.

Gaming IEMs is just marketing guff. An IEM is an IEM. I love the Simgot Supermix 4 for fast paced fps gaming as it's imagining and sound stage are fantastic, plus it's technicalities while listening to music are brilliant. Takes EQ well enough and they have their place in my set up. But i have been daily driving the Punch Audio Martilo the past few weeks and oh my days, these are so much fun for music and movies. I've not won a BR with them yet, but that's more down to my skill and the sweats than the IEMs 😂

Listening to mine now as I stumbled across this review. Still enjoying them after a couple weeks of ownership. These really come through with great sub-bass extension and overall elevated bass that never seems muddy in the mid-bass, something I really dislike. Don't consider myself a bass-head, but they're great for a lot of the electronic stuff I listen to nowadays. Just listened to "Painted \[Effin, feat. Anna-Sophia Henry\]" - bass is sublime with the Martilo. Also, you can get them for a very good price through Amazon/Linsoul right now (Prime Days). And if anyone cares, I find I can wear them for at least a couple hours without discomfort. Pretty rare for me to be able to wear them for longer based on schedule/activities. The nozzles seem comparable (around 6mm, IIRC) to my other IEMs, and I generally find that at 3 or 4 hours (first day I had them in at least 3 hours) my ear canals get a bit sore as with pretty much every other IEM. I use Comply foam tips just because I've been using those forever and on everything - good seal, better fit/fewer adjustments while wearing.

I feel the same way about Martilo. My Sound Rhyme SR7 has more thunderous and cinematic bass compared to Martilo. In fact, it just felt like a run-of-the-mill iem to me when I listen to it. Maybe the eartips are the problem. I'll have to change and see if it provides the bass that everyone is talking about. You should also try the same with the Deuce. Edit: Tried Sancai Noble tips, nothing changed. I may ruffle some feathers, but this is iem is 'not it'.

I'd have said the tea pro but because I read that you really upped the bass, you could also consider the Punch Audio Martilo. I just got it, it's basically a bassier and better Defiant. I love my bass. Enormous amounts of bass. Bordering in what a lot of people would call manic. And surprisingly the Defiant always came through on the bass. The Martilo though, surpasses that in every way. But yeah the Tea Pro is a great option too. I only had a very short stint with it, but a really solid pair. I went ahead and got the Martilo. Okay I'm back. I didn't need a couple days. Took me playing 4 of my favourite songs back to back on both pairs. And note, these songs are songs I've heard 100s of times, maybe more, so I know every nuance and every single little detail of theirs. Also to add, I will only be comparing 2 sets, the Defiant to the Martilo. This is not an exact answer to your question but should suffice for the most part. 1. Bass - absolutely massive difference. Incomparable even. And I love my bass. 2. Female vocals - on the Defiant, at the exact same volume, the female vocals felt shouty and unbearable. One step down and the vocals felt like they lost some body and I could overall hear less details from the whole song. On the Martilo, even at higher volumes, female vocals sound absolutely lovely and just super smooth. 3. Male vocals - same story. But lesser in effect compared to female vocals. 4. Soundstage - i actually didn't realise the difference till I played these songs back to back on each iem. I also didn't expect the Martilo to be as good as it has turned out to be because the Defiant is also excellent. 5. Just a random note - there's this song i quite like, it has a beautiful opera singer singing in what seems to be a large hall, reverb and all, and it has a backdrop of rain or some sort of water trickling down. On the Defiant, I can hear the rain, but I can't quite get a grip of how far away it is or where. On the Martilo, the female vocals sound as gorgeous as they should and I can actually hear the rain super clearly and feel a physical sense of distance from it. It's shocking tbh. So to sum it up, if I had to quantify the differences, it would be really tough. Is it THRICE as good, so as to justify the price, probably yes. Again, super subjective, i just really like the way the Martilo is tuned and stuff. Will a 600$ pair be twice as good as the Martilo? Maybe. But I doubt it. Will a $1000 pair be that much better? Probably not. Diminishing returns. Again, I really found the kind of tuning I like, so I can actually justify the 3x price difference.

Hi, I think the Martilo is a good choice for rap and hop music. It's got a deep, powerful bass that hits hard, makes it ideal for those big 808s and heavy drops. Then the vocals and beats come through clearly, so it doesn't just end up sounding like a muddy mess. Edited spelling, should have put my glasses on!

For what it's worth, I got both and did a *lot* of A/B comparisons, and the bass the Deuce brings won it out for me. I ended up returning the Martilo. There are some *excellent* bassy IEMs, but they tend to hang out more around the $250-300 range. More around your bracket, the Zero Blue 2 with the impedance adapter gives it a good run, and I've also heard good things about the 7hz Legato.

Sure! My personal picks there are the Fatfreq Deuce at $250 and the TSMR Armor at $290. Both extremely comfortable, both *very* bassy. The Deuce is much more subbass-focused and has a dedicated "woofer driver" that handles things below 150hz, while the Armor aims for a more holistic experience - it doesn't taper off in the midbass as much, which leads to less emphasis but also doesn't sound nearly as lean, especially on content without much going on in the sub-150hz range to begin with. The Punch Audio Martilo's more around the $330-350 range, although on sale it also usually hits around $290. It's gotten a lot more coverage than the Armor, and while I prefer the Armor's approach to things, I'd be an idiot to not at least *mention* how much (earned) acclaim the Martilo's gotten in the space as well. Three great options, all three have oodles of bass when you want it but sound great on all content (bassy or no), all clocking in at around the $250-300 range.

Easy all-arounder at that price point would be the Punch Audio Martilo, which tends to go on sale for $290 USD. *That said,* I don't know that I'd suggest you buying something that expensive for your first IEM. You hit diminishing returns shockingly early on in the price brackets, and you can get something solid for much cheaper if you're so inclined. The Simgot EW300 is my standard suggestion there, and it usually goes for around $65 USD.

Minor correction: the Martilo, not the Punch. "Punch Audio" is the company, Martilo is the model. Worth noting because there's *another* IEM out there (the Kiwi Ears Punch) that could easily get mixed up. I honestly think you'll be all set with the EW300, *but* if you want to splurge, you really can't go wrong with the Martilo. Like you said, you can always return them! Comparing over-ears to in-ears, you tend to get a much higher price-to-performance ratio with IEMs just because of how much less *stuff* there is to them. You've got the little shell, the drivers, the cable, and the eartips. That's it. Compared to all the other components that go into something larger like over-ears, that means production costs are *much* lower. It also means (since it's easier to get into) the IEM space has been having a *ton* of "competition breeds innovation" going on over the past few years, so they've advanced at a pretty rapid pace.

The Punch Audio Martilo bills itself as a basshead IEM, but is a really fantastic-sounding all-arounder that just *happens* to also have a nice chunky bass shelf. Or if you really, *really* like bass (as in, you want to be able to play around with like a 25db bass boost) the Fatfreq Deuce is your play. Easily my personal favorite.

Hi Martilo fans. If you want to save $289, don't read the next sentence... I adore the Martilo, it was my number one... Until the TSMR Armor arrived. It has the same aim as the Martilo- tons of quality bass, without sacrificing anything. But it's even better. It has a higher subbass shelf. It has more mid-bass (which was my only complaint of the Martilo, it has incredibly natural sounding instruments that are so rich and weighty. It has a magnetostat driver to deliver magical smooth sparkly treble. It's an incredible all rounder. Not just hip hop or EDM, it makes almost any song sound great, even country.

I get what the others are saying about spending less, but we're all stupid nerds with a collection of 10 different IEMs. Don't be like us. If you just want one great set, and you've got $300 then spend $300. It's worth it. TSMR Armor is the best bassy all rounder I've ever tried. BGVP DMA if you want less bass and wider soundstage. The Martilo is a close second to the Armor (but easier to buy)

The Martilo will be the most common answer for best "basshead but clear". It's amazing, but I think the TSMR Armor is even better. Drivers DO make a big difference, but that doesn't automatically mean "more drivers= more better" There's plenty of people who are happy to spend $500+ on something with only one dynamic driver. Quality and tuning really count.

I have the Martilo and the Tea Pro... I don't actually think the Martilo is all that much bassier. I got Ducbloke's EQ for the Tea Pro, and it made it bassier than the Martilo. However, if you're treble sensitive, the Tea Pro has harsher treble than the Martilo. In conclusion... I really like both. I want to only keep one, but it's a really hard choice.

They're honestly very close, both have the same goal of "Basshead with detail". The Martilo has been my number 1 IEM since I got it, but I think the Armor has actually dethroned it. It's just slightly better in every way. Plus it's cheaper, has tuning switches so it can have even more bass than the Martilo, and ESTs giving it light sparkly treble. It's brilliant.

I'd say it IS worth spending £300ish if you can, because everything I've tried at around that price has been a clear step up in sound- (TSMR Armor, Martilo, Tea Pro, BGVP DMA and ISN H60 (possibly my new favourite) Cheaper- Hidisz MP145 is a value king at about £100, I daily drive the £300 ones above, and I'm shocked how well the Mp145 keeps up with them. It's a bassy planar too. Hype- Melody Wings Venus (but I don't think it's particularly bassy. Hercules Noah has major hype, and I think pretty bassy. If you're in the UK, I'd take a train to London and go to Elise Audio to try before you buy.

Tea Pros are great, but they're also my least favourite of my $250+ sets. I *think* what's going on with the bass is that they're not mid-bass focussed, so whilst the subbass feels meaty, things like bass guitars and kick drums actually feel quite thin. The Martilo has the same issue (though I prefer it) The treble can be too harsh too, and sometimes it all sounds a bit low res. They're still very good for the price, but I think they're a bit over hyped.

If you're extremely treble sensitive, maybe a little bit, but with the Tea Pro I'll sometimes have to reduce the volume because the treble is too harsh. Never have to with the Martilo. The Armor is just that little bit smoother and less metallic presumably because of the electrostatic driver. Very minor difference, the Martilo is an awesome IEM, the Armor is just a little bit better imo.

Martilo is overhyped imo, you should be able to find a used Symphonium Meteor for 350 that and the Softears Volume S have great bass response. That all being said, are you sure it is bass you want or is it just that the Blessing is an incredibly bright signature and maybe you are looking for something a little darker with more mid strength? I see you more than likely will be using these for gaming. In that case so would also suggest the Ziigaat Arete. Which brings forward all those mids you need in fps games.

Meteor is my bass set because it’s the best one imo. Martilo was a nice resolving set that wasn’t as bassy. So with my meteors as well as some much better resolving and revealing sets. The Martilo went back. I do think it is a perfect one and done for someone who wants to love their music without delving too deep into the hobby.

Continuing further on reviewing sets owned by my friends and sent to me, this time I receive a full set in the Punch Audio Martilo, an iem that I was looking forward to listen from a very long time, and I am glad I heard this iem because it gave me a lot of joy. But since this is a long read, I will keep the salutations short. Packaging was simple, appreciating the no-waifu nonsense, and showcasing the iems in vivid graphics; Punch Audio packed the Martilo with a very nice case which has a fair amount of space in itself, supplied with a modular cable where adding a lock-in mechanism would have been nice, sets of foam tips which I have not used due to sanitary reasons and silicone tips which by the way, work in its favour. Punch Audio has also included sets of filters too which is nice. Fitment was comfortable and the IEM even on the stock cable did not cause me any fatigue. That being said, let me quickly huddle back to the sound and this is going to be a long read. **Lows:** The Punch Audio Martilo lives up to its name in form and spirit- and it is a tuning that oozes quality through and through. Sub-bass has a lot of body and the delivery across my track list has been consistently meaty, although it is not completely going head-to-head with the quality the way it delivers quantity. I have heard bass- oriented sets over the years and rarely have I found sets that actually satisfy my preferences, the Martilo manages to tick a lot of boxes with minimal effort. On tracks like Daft Punk’s Get Lucky, the Martilo brings out full bodied notes of the bass rumbling in and occasionally causing a less savoury aftertaste with a bit of bloom across moments, however the Martilo does not forget to deliver you the rest of the elements in this track along with the lows. Sub-bass stays right where it needs to be- full of quantity, and that occasional bloom ruining some of that delight subtly; but the Martilo does not slump over in bringing the vocals out on that track while I would have appreciated a tad smidge of energy in the highs as they appear to be a hair’s length bit of being laid back. This set however has a commendable mid-bass: on tracks like Rush’s Limelight, Peart’s punch and his enjoyingly cautious swings over the cymbals are distinctly audible with zero mud; each and every stroke is recognizable however, with a slight tint of metal in its timbre upon perceiving but I would live with that because of how good the presentation is again, overall. Geedy Lee’s bass plucks are neither blanketed over, nor presented too much on the face and it synchronises harmoniously with the tonality of the guitars, presented by the Martilo without blemish and in all its honesty.   **Mids:** This is a palette of mixed results for the Martilo; however, the weather here is not all gloom and doom here. Comparing the Martilo head on with other units that are not tuned in the same way would be a deliberate way to sabotage the impressions of this set and I will elaborate on this later in the review. But, the Martilo here has its own strengths and weaknesses. On tracks like The Police’s Message in A Bottle and Tool’s Pneuma, the Martilo’s reluctance in handling all the elements with distinct audibility are seen, especially the fine lines in the cymbal work on both tracks feel smudged across moments but the tonality is not compromised and timbre seems improved from my previous experience. Guitars are allowed their own space to shine and sizzle well, and stage actually feels quite ample given the tuning that the Martilo has, and I give full marks for this- I had very low expectations for the Martilo to sound this wide given its very bass focused tuning but the expectations were exceeded. Imaging too is excellent, again for the tuning- panning and location of the elements in the tracks were very precise, although not surgical by any means and the one that I usually crave, but the Martilo does not make me complain on this front. It does both of these very well and all the appreciation is due.   **Highs:** The Martilo once again does not falter to keep a lot of its impressive performance alive here as well, despite suffering a few minor injuries in the midrange, this set continues to power on and to me, seals the deal on why it has been an offering that has been well received. In tracks like Adele’s NRJ Awards live version of Easy On Me and Celine Dion’s All By Myself, the Martilo holds itself back extremely well in having the climaxes presented beautifully without any fatigue or pierce, although given the stock tuning of this set, it would not have hurt if there was some more sustenance in delivering those notes; it is like you having a long stroke motor that thumps and burbles rhythmically to however you might sway your motorbike across the straights and twisties, but the gearing as you rev up clicks prematurely, making you crave for a little more……sustain. Circling back to Kendrick Lamar’s Alright, the Martilo improves upon details minutely- presenting the juxtaposition of horns and the hi-hat work clean, like a well made entrée; while the background vocals on this track not losing an ounce of shimmer in being noticed and the thump being carried over to finish of the garnish and leave you still satisfied with a good eating, despite the memorable ride of yours being miffed with a taken aback, premature upshifts. Just a tad bit shy of making the extensions come around to have the sound, sound complete which however can still be fixed with some tinkering in the EQ and a quick change of ear tips, just like a motor; which is where I transition into the other side of the Punch Audio Martilo- how would it sound if it did not have the warm tuning that it comes out with ?   ***Additional notes (Punch Audio Martilo tuned crude to the JM-1 target and swapping to Divinus Velvet Wide Bore eartips):*** this is where things monumentally change, for the better if I was concerned and this section will be brief. Across the lows, the Martilo gives up a lot of its delectable sub-bass rumble to have elements in tracks sound audibly, distinctly clear. The stage widens up a fair bit which I dare say, is very un-Martilo-esque. Vocals gain a lot of power and feel like its life was restored from a dip in the Lazarus pit- such lush, much wow. Highs also improve upon their extensions where the gear shifts feel hand in glove as you rev that motor up, but specially in busy tracks with a lot of cymbals and horns playing, despite the extension- the Martilo gives up some amount of tonality and the metallic timbre observed in the lows now shifts here, and although it varies from track to track, genre to genre; the Martilo still retains that timbre in varying extent, but rather than focusing on that and have my good time be cut short; I appreciated the expansion in stage, the extension in the highs where tracks with climactic vocals now suddenly sound very complete- strings sound natural in tonality and the details further enhanced, although it is not on a granular level and the Martilo suddenly will not become a clinical set. It still retains a lot of its musicality and fun; but the overwhelmingly welcoming warm tuning takes a back seat in this case and let everything else in tracks stand up for themselves once and close off the minutely flawed yet mostly well received performance, which makes the Martilo a set that I would totally recommend for someone who wants the variety of spice in their lives. This segment, I believe, also demonstrates on how well the Punch Audio Martilo can take EQ and with this level of a change in eartips can have its sound altered, giving me a fun experiment where instead of seeing myself be disappointed; makes me instead adore the Martilo even more.   ***Comparisons with a few IEMs:*** **- Versus the Dunu Davinci:** this, in my book, is probably the hardest battle for the Martilo where it manages to pull out a narrow victory over the Davinci- Dunu let out a tonal heavy hitter in the Davinci where it kept me engaged and occupied with how well it handled tones across the lows, mids and highs while the Martilo had me in awe of that beautiful sub-bass it carries within itself, which is not the strong suit of Davinci and despite having a smaller mid-bass quantity upon perception in the Martilo comparatively, it still has a cleaner production on the stock EQ; while the Davinci pulls off a corner overtake with having an objectively better midrange despite the razor thin gap, compared to the Martilo. As of the question of the highs, the Martilo had a tough time gaining the upper hand over the Davinci, where I felt stood up in my date with the Davinci- despite me admiring the consistently natural tonality with it, the Martilo still had me woo-ed with the details it had in the highs, a stronger gust of air with how climaxes in vocal rich tracks felt making it sound more complete, and have elements like guitars and cymbals sound spaced out well, located distinctly where the Davinci felt like it had the map in its hand but did not quite get how to read it. The primary reason why I say the battle is hard is because it is extremely hard for me to quantify it in numbers or percentages and given how subjective the hobby is, it would be unfair if I attempted to speak numerically; although I am of the opinion that the gaps might be small and both sets do have a give and take relationship amongst the elements, the Martilo still comes out on top as the sub-bass presentation, despite giving up a whiff of air in the highs makes this set still be better rounded than the Davinci, where I felt that the Davinci had more potential out of the box but except for the mids, it did not quite deliver against the Martilo. **Tips used: Dunu S&S, Final E, Audiocular Atmos and Martilo stock tips.** **- Versus the FatFreq Deuce:** this, for me, can be summarized in just a few short lines: the Martilo objectively has the Deuce beat with sizeable gaps across the whole board. Better, cleaner sub-bass with tons of details where the Deuce only gets the quantity right; more expansive stage with significantly better imaging and depth, vocals sounding considerably fuller where the Deuce only delivers on the height of the climax but not the gravity; and the Martilo finally closing the door on the Deuce by handling busy tracks comparatively, specially with horns and cymbals, like it was born to do so. **Tips used: Final E, Spinfit CP100+, Divinus Velvet Wide Bore, AZLA Crystal 2.**   **- Versus the Symphonium x Nightjar Meteor:** this is where the fun ends for the Punch Audio Martilo. The Meteor gives up ground in the vocals against the Martilo but wins practically everywhere else. It has a sub-bass so good, that only a few sets like the Xenns Top Pro can go against, and the Martilo performs disappointingly in comparison- right from the quality, to other elements like granular level of detail in the sub-bass to tonality; the Meteor is just better rounded against the Martilo and the result gets worse for the Martilo as the Meteor easily cruises through with elements like vocals, strings and horns feeling even more spaced out despite having a comparable stage, and imaging gets surgically precise; and the Meteor pulls ahead with a resounding victory over the Martilo by delivering even smoother highs while still not giving up the air over extensions and sustains in tracks with high point climaxes (referring to my test tracklist). The Meteor also fitted me better due to its shape, and was more comfortable. **Tips used: Moondrop Spring, Divinus Velvet Narrow Bore, Symphonium Stock, Dunu S&S.**   **- Versus the FatFreq Maestro:** this is a financially unfair comparison, but the Maestro is one of the best bass focused tunings I have heard so far amongst iems: ridiculously tactile sub-bass with the weight of a heavyweight boxing champion, but moving like a lightweight. Not to mention, the Maestro has a freakishly good tonality, and very resolving highs where the peaks are manageable to a good extent; one of the best imaging I have heard in an IEM of similar tuning and to top it off, orchestral vocals to complement that sub-bass the Maestro has. This makes the Martilo look like a complete amateur, but one should not get ahead of oneself, as the Maestro also is multitudes more expensive than this. **Tips used: Final E, Audiocular Atmos, Dunu S&S, Spinfit CP100+**   **- Versus the Monster Ear Shadow X:** once again, a financially unfair comparison, given the Martilo is multitudes more expensive than this; however the Monster Ear still has a slightly more spacious stage than the Martilo- while giving up grounds virtually everywhere else. Unlike the Kiwi Ears KE4 which sounds oddly very similar with the Shadow X, the bass of the Martilo is significantly less bloomier and cleaner comparatively with details sprinkled throughout like tootie frooties on a sundae; life like vocals and less piercing highs. The Shadow X comparatively still demonstrates comparably strong imaging and depth; although losing once again in tonality and timbre. Martilo has it objectively beat here, and I would say that the price difference is actually worth it. **Tips used: TRI Clarion, Final E, Divinus Velvet Wide Bore, Dunu S&S.** **Concluding notes:** Given the section above, I could definitely still see myself owning the Martilo, because of how good the product overall is- my whole time with the Martilo was cherished very well, and the part that impresses me the most is how well it can shapeshift when I change things up with the EQ and switching over to wide bores, to have a glimpse with how it would have sounded had it not been tuned overly warm- and mind you, this is a warmth that I like; like bonfire in a chilly riverside winter night. The Martilo, in all its might, still would sit very well and not come off as redundant if one possesses sets like the mighty Softears Volume S and the Xenns Top Pro which is a price segment above. To me, the Martilo is a better buy than sets like the Deuce and Davinci as I feel, the sound offers more and the set comes off as more well rounded than being a one trick pony. If I were to nitpick, I would say that highs could have used more air and space, and that the midrange could have been prioritised a tad bit more over the mid-bass; however despite all that, Punch Audio knocked it right out of the park with the Martilo and that is why, I will award the Martilo a well deserving **A+.** Will I buy it at retail ? **Absolutely.** Will I buy it used ? **Blind Buy.** **Sources used:** Colorfly CDA M1P in high gain, Fiio BTR17 and KA17 in high gain and desktop mode, Hiby R6 Pro 2. This set needs a fair amount of power to have it run at its full potential.   **Eartips for this set (ranked in performance):** Final E, Divinus Velvet Wide Bore, Dunu S&S, Audiocular Atmos, TRI Clarion   **Tracks:** * Rush: Limelight, Spirit of the Radio * The Police: Message In A Bottle * Tool: Pneuma * Pink Floyd: Comfortably Numb, Wish You Were Here, Time  * Tame Impala: The Less I know, The Better * Avicii: Levels  * Kanye West: Stronger, Flashing Lights, Devil In A New Dress  * Altin Gun: Goga Dunya * Timbaland: Give It To Me  * Adele: Easy On Me Live, When We Were Young  * Celine Dion: All By Myself  * Pavarotti: Nessun Dorma * Mdou Moctar: Tarhatazed  * Cigarettes After Sex: Cry  * Meshuggah: Bleed  * AR Rahman: Tere Bina  * Alice in Chains: Down In A Hole (live)

Obligatory Punch Audio Martilo recommendation. These will do you nicely. Ziigaat Arcadia too, this can hit pretty hard, but they don't bring the shimmering treble the Martilo is capable of, but if you're after an out n out fun, bassy set with a smooth treble and general warm of neutral set, these will do it.

Similar design on the Septet cable too... A good cable makes the set complete. I got the Cincotres in 4.4mm as an option. Arcadia, nope. Lush, nope. Just put a decent cable in there! Put a "stealth" tax on, something! People are spending good money on these things, so come on! Sorry, rant other, thanks for listening. Anyways, great IEM, not one just for the bassheads. It's musical, fun, addictive. Again, great review, your time and effort really helps.

I can see why you would say that, I was the same, didn't think it offered much more over the Arcadia. I dunno though, the bass can rumble when it needs too (Slow Country by Gorillaz, wow!). I think I enjoy the Martilo so much because it knows when to calm down, it's not a constant battering of the ear drums. This hobby, different ears...

Punch Audio Martilo. Sub-bass, nice mids, detailed treble (for a none treble focused IEM). It's marketed as a "basshead", but it's more than that. It handles everything I've thrown at it with aplomb, the bass doesn't drown everything out, it knows when to go, and it knows when to calm down.

I'd say any of the 3 you've mentioned will do the job, but it would be remiss of me not to mention the Punch Audio Martilo too, if on sale they'll fit in your budget. I'm recommending these a bit lately (not a shill, promise), because they really are good. Bassy, musical, capable, fun, brilliant.

Punch Audio Martilo - bass that knows when to shush. Lovely planar treble. A remarkably well tuned set, marketed as bass head. https://preview.redd.it/xkg6d4ar8knf1.jpeg?width=1848&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=db5e2a5e595cb230415e95e1612847a809bac06a

The ITO is pretty solid for a bassy set. The HiSenior Cano Cristales is another great set. The Martilo is good, but IMO the Cano is better.

Hello /r/IEMs! I come to you today with a review of an IEM you've probably heard of, the Punch Audio Martillo.[ I wrote a full review for it, which you can find here](https://resonancereviews.com/punch-audio-martilo-review-your-iems-have-chosen-violence-b91d55162e8b) *Below is a condensed version that I've edited for brevity. If you have any questions that my full review didn't answer, please let me know!* Punch Audio is a new derivative brand from Linsoul. They’ve positioned the brand as a bass-first-questions-last type-of-deal. But “basshead” IEMs are a dime-a-dozen, so what exactly does Punch Audio bring to the table that hasn’t already been done yet? Well, execution. Bassy IEMs are common, but well-executed ones are not. The Martilo, Punch Audio’s debut IEM, sets the bar pretty high for the brand. Let’s get into the details. You can find the Martilo for sale on Linsoul for $329.00. **The Big Picture** Pros: * Visceral, well-controlled bass * Tempered midrange * Performant upper-register * Solid shell design * Robust accessory package Cons: * Very large shells, nozzles * Modular cable termination lacks affirmative locking mechanism * Minor metallic timbre in upper-treble Tech Specs * Drivers: 1x planar, 2x dynamic, 2x balanced-armature * Sensitivity: 100 dB @ 1 kHz (±1 dB) * Frequency Response: 10 Hz–22 kHz * Impedance: 9 Ω @ 1 kHz (±1.5 Ω) * Cable: 2-Pin 0.78 mm to 3.5 mm/4.4mm * Cable Length: 1.25 m ± 5 cm **Sound Signature** *Detailed audio breakdown in full review* The Martilo evokes a strong V-shaped sound signature with a robust bass shelf. Its bass picks up steam around 200Hz and carries out all the way to 20Hz. Its treble is emphasized and has strong upper-treble extension. The Martilo’s midrange is recessed relative to its bass and treble and is fairly color-neutral. There is minimal bleed between the mid-bass and lower-mids. **Construction Quality** *I don't know how to properly insert images. You can find them in the full-review* Like its Kiwi Ears, ZiiGaat, and Thie Audio counterparts, the Martilo features a high-quality resin shell with metal nozzles and vents. The nozzles, while metal, have removable debris filters. There’s pros and cons to this approach, and its one I’ve seen used on many other IEMs to varying degrees of success (with regards to long-term durability). The Martilo does come with spare debris filters though, so losing one is not the end of the world. The Martilo’s cable is, like the rest of the IEM’s presentation, large and boisterous. It features a full-sized chain braid with large plastic-coated wires. The braid is fairly loose but shows no indication an unraveling risk. It hosts a modular termination, so users can swap between 3.5mm and 4.4mm terminations. The terminations attach with a simple friction mechanism. This may be suitable when the IEM is used statically, but lacks the durability and longevity required for those who often swap terminations. I’d like to see Linsoul’s IEMs adopt affirmative locking mechanisms, such as those found on the 7Hz Timeless II or Juzear Defiant’s cable (threading, pin locks, etc). The cable itself if fairly comfortable and pliable. The large braid is soft and reasonably light, so it is easy to coil and store. **Comfort** *Disclaimer: comfort is a highly individual metric — no two people will have the same experience.* The Martilo is a mixed bag, ergonomically. It has large shells and nozzles, but isn’t too bad for my ears shape-wise. It is light too. I’ve had varying degrees of success with the stock eartips and found that I had to size-down based on the ear-angle of the nozzles. That said, I’m able to get between 1 and 2 hours of comfortable listening per session. **Accessories** Inside the box you’ll find: * 1x 2-pin cable * 1x 3.5mm adapter * 1x 4.4mm adapter * 3x pairs silicone eartips * 3x pairs foam eartips * 1x semi-hard carrying case * 2x pairs nozzle debris filters This is a strong accessory package, thanks to its nice case and foam eartips, but lacks the variety in silicone eartips you’ll find with other IEMs in this price range. I imagine most consumers will be able to get a comfortable seal with these eartips, so I can’t complain with the efficacy of this selection. You can fit the Martilo with all of its accessories in its case. There’s so much space, that you can actually fit a dongle or two inside its mesh “pocket” if you remove the spare eartips and adapters. The case is also highly capable of absorbing shock. It resists crushing forces well, easily passing my college student’s backpack” benchmark. **Comparisons** *Comparisons are selected solely based on what I think is interesting. If you would like me to add more comparisons, feel free to make a request in the comments below!* 1: Rose Cappuccino Mk. II ($350) The Cappuccino Mk. II is an all-time favorite IEM of mine. It’s been my trusty companion for around 10 years and has set my personal standard for which IEMs I’m willing to use in my free time. Like the Martilo, it’s a multi-DD hybrid IEM with a focus on bass. And, while the Martilo is a very V-shaped IEM, the Cappuccino Mk. II is more L-shaped. This makes it warmer and a little less bright up top. And, believe it or not, the Martilo actually has more bass than the Cappuccino Mk II’s bassiest tuning mode. The Martilo, while certainly bassier, doesn’t really “outperform” the Cappuccino’s bass tone and control. They’re quite similar in quality, though the Martilo evokes “kicks” from percussion a little easier thanks to its increased level of midbass emphasis. The real differentiator here, though, is treble emphasis. The Martilo’s increased brightness allows it to more-easily surface detail and texture. Both IEMs layer similarly well, but the Cappuccino Mk II’s age begins to show when it comes to resolving highly technical passages. That said, there’s still something charming about the way that the Cappcuccino Mk II manages to blend its midrange and bass that the Martilo and its bassy contemporaries lack — and that’s the “soul” element of the Cappuccino I have yet to hear with other IEMs. 2: Kiwi Ears Astral ($299) The Kiwi Ears Astral is a similarly-priced hybrid IEM featuring a U-shaped sound signature. Its sub-bass is slightly less emphasized than the Punch’s, though the Punch’s mid-bass is notably stronger, and as a result, better-paired with the sub-bass. The Astral has an extremely-clean midrange and treble, owing to its BA-driver setup and modest mid-bass emphasis. The Punch isn’t struggling on that front though, and it does a solid job of articulating its midrange and treble in spite of its large bass presence. The Astral’s lower midrange is somewhat cleaner, thanks to its very repressed mid-bass, though this marginal increase in “clarity” isn’t worth the steep drop in overall bass tuning quality. Simply put, I prefer the Punch. Its sound signature is far more flexible and forgiving, and it lacks the odd “half-bass” sensation I get from the Astral. It also comes with a proper case and foam eartips, which is a major plus. For all except dedicated U-shaped fans, I think that the increase in cost for the Punch is well worth it. 3: Campfire Audio Cascara ($499) The Cascara is another solid basshead IEM, though it is far more expensive than the Punch. In exchange for the Cascara’s increased price, you get better ergonomics, accessories, and materials. That said, the gap in performance isn’t that big. The Cascara has a richer, warmer sound signature that leans heavily on its impressive, juicy mid-bass. The Punch has a similar amount of mid-bass, but edges out the Cascara in terms of quantity. Both IEMs are capable of producing strong, punchy impulses, though the Cascara does sound a bit firmer at the edges. The Punch has a much-more-pronounced sub-bass. It rumbles and rolls more often and with greater intensity than the Cascara. This will appeal to fans of electronic music and metal-heads, though those who want a little more reserve will probably appreciate the Cascara’s approach. The Cascara’s warmer midrange and grainier lower-treble contrast with the Punch’s rather sterile tuning approach. The Cascara’s treble seems to trade blows with the Punch’s treble when it comes to detail capture, with the two articulating cues from various songs with varying intensity. Conclusion The Punch is an aggressive, competently-tuned bass-head IEM. It side-steps the major flaws of many of its competitors while staying within a fairly competitive price bracket. While it may not leg-sweep its pricier counterparts entirely, it offers an undeniably strong value-propositions for bass lovers and electronic music fans alike. **Who This is For** * Bassheads * Listeners who want audible bass on tracks with older mastering styles * Buyers who want juicy organic bass with planar-precise treble **Who This isn’t For** * Listeners seeking reference sound * Those who want traditional V-shaped sound * Those with small ears * As always, happy listening!

In my opinion probably the Tea Pros for all rounders tbh as they’re more balanced, the Dunus are a touch warmer/thicker and the Martilos are emphasised as a Basshead set so have more sub bass but still do everything else well, P7 is definitely a good option but can get a touch spicy on the treble so not really a loud listening set and the supermix is well regarded but I tend to steer clear of Simgot because their tunings don’t tend to agree with me lmao. For orchestral music you’d probably want something brighter, detailed and more airy and I do know there’s some interesting options that can make things sound almost enveloping and ethereal but I couldn’t give you a recommendation for that genre specifically because I tend to lean more towards darker sets and It’s not something I’ve listened to.

Definitely the Martilo to me it has a very similar sound to the Defiant just with much more resolution and much more sub bass. I was actually shocked at the similarities tbh.

I agree. I A/B tested both, and I preferred the Tea Pro against the Martillo. I feel like the Tea Pro had better clarity, detail, and clean bass. The Mantillo definitely had more sub bass and generally performed well in subduing the bass when it wasn’t needed, but I still found it still seeped in on a lot of songs that didn’t need it. I also felt the treble was a bit veiled. The Tea Pro just felt like a better all-rounder to me, and the bass on it is still very satisfying. Both solid picks though, depending on what you’re going for.

Got them today, uhhh..straight out of the box i don’t like them more overall than my davinci’s, aside for the bass. If tha 8mm dd sounds like this out of the box, after burn in if it gets deeper might be to much for me. The martilos are also big for my ears, too long and pops out way more than the davincis. Ps: man i like that low end

Depends on the quantity of bass you’re wanting to increase up to? The Blue’s are kinda on the lower “warm” end. Mangird Tea Pro is quite a bassy set but absolutely incredibly balanced and very high quality tuning/imaging/layering/soundstage perception. You can pick these up when on sale around $250. If you want a more ‘basshead territory’ IEM but without being bloated or muddy, Punch Audio Martilo.

**\[Impressions\]** **Disclaimer:** This is just my personal opinion and my first time trying to write any kind of impressions, so take it with a grain of salt. I’m still pretty new to describing sound and just wanted to share how these two came across to me. I picked up the Punch Audio Martillo recently to compare it with my Xenns Tea Pros, and figured I’d share some quick thoughts since I’ll probably be returning the Martillos. **Accessories & Build** The Martillo box actually surprised me, the cable is thick, soft, and feels more premium than the one that came with the Tea Pros. I also prefer the hard-shell case included with the Martillos. Really nice unboxing experience overall. **Fit & Comfort** Both IEMs have a similar shape, but the Tea Pros fit me better. The Martillos felt a bit awkward and less secure in my ears. That said, the Tea Pros’ metal shells can get a bit warm after a while and feel slightly heavy. **Sound** Bass-wise, the Martillos definitely bring a lot of low-end presence, but I don’t think the bass quality compares to the Tea Pros — it’s big and rumbly, but a bit less textured. The Martillos are super easy to crank to loud volumes without realizing it, probably because the treble and upper mids are very smooth and relaxed. Hi-hats in rap tracks don’t hit as hard, so it never gets fatiguing but it also loses some energy and sparkle. For example, on the intro of Daft Punk Lose Yourself to Dance, the Tea Pros let you hear all those tiny details and textures, almost like little specks of glitter floating around. The Martillos smooth that out, so the sense of air and micro-detail just isn’t there. The Tea Pros can get a bit harsh at higher volumes, but overall I much prefer their tonality. The bass hits harder (not louder) and feels higher-quality, and the vocals and instruments feel balanced and cohesive. On the Martillos, the instruments are more forward while vocals sit back, which makes the presentation feel less intimate. **Conclusion** If you’re deciding between the two, I’d easily recommend the Xenns Tea Pro. It’s more versatile, more detailed, and just more fun to listen to (Better for gaming also). The Martillos are good, but they feel like a step down overall — especially if you value clarity and balance.

I have the Arcadia, Deuce and Martillo. All 3 are great but personally I love the Arcadia the most. I may be putting the Deuce up for sale soon… haven’t decided yet. If you’re in the US, Amazon has the Arcadia for $170 and during the sale a little while back used units $99. So, easy 30 day returns if you decide you don’t like them.

The Martillo and Deuce have a midbass scoop to Accentuate the sub bass. Arcadia is more balanced between sub and mid bass. Does wonders for kick drums and chunky guitars. Also, some vocals like Chester Bennington or Maria Brink can easily be harsh… the way the Arcadia is dialed back is perfect for them.

I bought the martillo and Cadenza 4. Also own a Qudelix 5k. The Cadenza with a bass shelf on the Qudelix is absolutely epic. The martillo is very good but the mid bass scoop lacks a little warmth and thr vocals are not as lush The martilo is the best pure bass iem I have tried under £400. But the quality of the beryllium driver in the Cadenza means it takes eq like a champ and the Qudelix gives you unlimited eq options.
