Regularly use some G2 IEMs in smaller packages. Such a solid RF link. 15+ years old! Use G3 & G4 mainly because of infrared sync. Unless looking for rider compliance no need to go elsewhere.
All the black variants peel. If you have a good DAC then get the polished variant imo, otherwise if youre okay with the peeling/chipping then the dsp version is good.
kefine quatio are a good allrounder. great build quality and accessories for the price point as well otherwise ew300 are the cheaper allrounder i'd go for "do not give me the depth and personality in music i am looking for" based on this statement hexa's i'd probably avoid for you as they're quite neutral, sounds like you want a more engaging signature
The Truthear Pure is absolutely that. Its very neutral yet warm signature is also a great base for EQing which is what you want to do if you want good sound for cheap. On the other hand the Ew300 is a bad base for EQing.
Ew300 is just an untasteful W-shaped iem. IML. Good neutral iems sound good. Neutral being boring is an odd narrative imo. It maybe comes from people who misassign the term "neutral"
Having an iem with a bad signature all across the board like the ew300 is worse than having a (maybe) relatively bass light neutral iem (Hexa/Pure) - it is very easy to EQ in a tasteful bass boost, OP has a dongle dac/amp with PEQ as well so thats not a problem. Hexa was my first iem, I loved it.
I have the ew300, it really doesnt matter, it will sound wayyyy better than that, the only downside is the mic, but still good
I tried out the EW300 at a store and it was one of my final two before I ended up choosing the S08. EW300 is a solid choice! I chose the S08 over the EW300 because it emphasized the treble less, and I saw myself getting tired of the treble after long listening sessions. For what it's worth, I listen to rock, dubstep, and pop.
I've loved my EW300 since ive got fhem but its time to look for an upgrade. I want the same bass level but more mid and highs quality
Kefine Delci AE There is no other option. The EW300 is an absolute joke. Over hyped, over marketed. I mean, hell, the top post in this thread literally says "I hope they sound good". THEY DONT EVEN HAVE THEM YET!!! But they are telling you they are good, and that you should buy them. And likely have nothing to compare them to either. So at this point, it is just speaking out loud to justify their purchase, and convince themselves of their own confirmation bias. Unlike the vast majority of jabronis in this subreddit, I won't comment on things I don't own.
A lot of people got weird ear modes that gave it this strange almost ANC like nulls in the audio. Really weird tonality. Very ear dependent, very tip dependent, very depth dependent. Overall, just a less than stellar set.
"Soundstage" is purely subjective, and completely based on your ears and your brain. You only have one ear drum. All of the interpretations of height, width, and depth, are estimations by your brain, based upon delays, tone shift, doppler effect, etc. etc. hitting your outer ear, having the sound wave augmented, and then finally making its way into your ear drum, where those are "processed" by your brain, and through your brains understanding of learning through early life, you can pinpoint the location. When you insert an IEM in your ear, NONE of that is happening. You are basically bypassing all of what your brain knows, understands, and interprets as "spatial sound stage", and ignores it. So, your brain does what it does, and tries to make the best sense of it. And takes the delays in the drivers topology, timing, frequency response, and whatever modalities or resonance it might have in your ear, and tries to interpret that as positional audio. And sometimes, its not always right. For example, the EW300's dont work in my ears at ALL. They sound like shit, like they have bad ANC enabled, and im missing half the frequencies, and have no depth, or nuance whatsoever. Most recently, the Kefine Quatio, a set that i really enjoy, gives me a wear sensation that sound is coming from behind and down on certain tones. Yet other IEMs i have, like my MP145's, give me this massive room sensation where the perceived soundstage is almost too big. So, keep in mind that anytime anyone is talking about "soundstage" in an IEM, they should really be calling it "Personal Brain Stage", because it is completely individual, and always anecdotal. Sure, there are some constants that can be applied in the areas of psycho acoustics, and certain basic inferences that can be made with 3D mics, but in general...your ear will hear everything differently than everyone else. Its not a "meme" like some ignorant reviewers like to call it, but it is unique to the listener, and cant really be given a broad one size fits most approach to how people will hear it.
