Hey, I also have the Supermix 4 and K11; from what I read online they're low-impedance so I have the Gain set to Low but which filter did you find best?

DZ4 is a very veryyyy unique IEM that works well only in certain genres, i would advice you to do a lot of research if its one of your options. EW300 is decent option, you may be lacking mid bass tho, it wont feel near as punchy as Castor Bass. But, i dont think its worth coming from a EW200. imo there are 4 good options: Nova/Supermix4 if you want a harman approach (SM4 being brighter), IE200 as a better and smoother EW200 or 7HZ Legato. The last set is basically a KZ Castor Bass in steroids that really scales with enough power.

The Supermix 4 when using it for general video watching. The mid scoop really messes with vocal audio. The Blessing 3 for how bright / sibilant and clinical it was. I think these two are my favorite IEMs in terms of looks and design, but their sounds were disappointing.

I recently bought the supermix 4s roughly a month ago. Mainly use them for gaming in first person shooters. I may be considered to be in the “honeymoon” phase still, and they are also my first IEMs ever. However I’m comparing them to the Steel Series headset I used for the last 2 years, the Arctic Nova Pros. This headset is $350 and comes with a dac. The Supermix 4s are super in sound quality and immersion, I can hear so much with them compared to the headset. My buddy also has the Nova Pros headset, and while I’m wearing the supermix 4s, I’m able to make call outs and hear things that he can not. However I can’t give an opinion compared to another pair of IEMs. But for $150 dollars I think they are great!

You’re welcome! I would also recommend getting a usb dongle or a dac that can effectively power them. When plugged directly into the PC, they aren’t very punchy. I plugged mine into the dac that came from Steel Series and it about blew my ear drums out

IEMs have better sound, better tuning than similarly priced Headphones. But most of the IEMs don't come with Mic. IEMs also have varying sizes of Nozzles that go deep into Ear-canal, fit can vary, some are comfortable and some can cause pain. I am using Simgot SM4 for gaming and they are very good for what they are. I don't enjoy my TWS now and have to incur extra charges on Apple Music for Hi-Res Music. For FPS games, consider V-Shaped / Harman Sound Signature. For Immersion/Story Games, any Signature will suffice.

I have both. Timeless is not as wide and spacious. More dynamic. I don't think the Timeless is flat or boring at all. SM4 has deeper sub bass while Timeless is more punchy.

Detail, similar. The Timeless might sound like it has more details but I think it’s because it’s more forward. Supermix 4 is more relaxed sounding so less apparent detail. Separation: SM4 wins but it’s not bad at all on the Timeless. They’re different styles of iems. SM4, I could leave it in my ear all day. Timeless, not so much. Good for shorter listens for me.

I have the Aful and EW300. Sold the Supermix 4. For gaming and or just big sound the supermix 4 is best but felt clinical. The Aful sounded the muddiest but it's actually not muddy at all, it's just very smooth and is my go to for all day fatigue free listening at work. EW300 is my backup that never gets used. Good all arounder but the smallest sound. These days, I use the Ziigaat Odyssey for music enjoyment.

Had the zero's for like 5 months, and recently switched them with a pair of simgot super mix 4. They are decent for music, the bass and the mids are nice and natural but the highs are not defined and lack luster, but it's not scratchy so if you're sensitive it's okay. So if you enjoy rap or edm the red's are good enough, but if you want clarity and detail just go 30$ more and get the hexas

If you don't need a mic, go with iems. I have a few pairs and they're better than any of the gaming headsets I've used (Arctic nova pro, turtle beach stealth 700, pc38x). If it has to have a mic I've enjoyed the sound on my pc38x's the most; open back though, if that makes a difference. Check out gadgetrytech on YouTube. He has great content stuff this. My favorite items are the zigaat aretes but they're a but spendy. Simgot supermixes are very good and cheaper.

Pros ✅: - Excellent all-rounder IEM - Easy to drive - Well-balanced tuning - Good bass quantity - Smooth mids - Good vocal presence - Fantastic value Cons ❌: - Midbass texture could be improved (easy fix) - Uninspiring Harman tuning might not be for you (nitpicking) Introduction: Simgot has made quite a name for itself with its innovative and high-performing IEMs. The SuperMix 4, priced at $149.99, continues this tradition by offering a quad-driver setup that promises a high-quality sound experience. Featuring a unique combination of a dynamic driver, balanced armature, micro planar driver, and piezoelectric driver, the SuperMix 4 aims to deliver a well-rounded and immersive auditory experience. Build Quality and Accessories: The Simgot SuperMix 4 boasts a robust build with its 3D-printed translucent resin housing and matte metal faceplate. The design keeps the weight light, ensuring comfort during long listening sessions. However, some may find the plastic construction less premium compared to metal counterparts. The accessory package is somewhat basic for the price, including only three pairs of silicone eartips, a cable, and a carrying case. While the stock tips offer a good, comfortable fit, the variety could be improved to cater to different preferences and ear shapes. Sound Impressions: Sound impressions below is done using the stock cable and eartips. The SuperMix 4 delivers a well-balanced sound signature with a Harman-like tuning. It's an excellent all-rounder, suitable for various music genres. The bass is fast and controlled, with a good amount of sub-bass rumble without bleeding into the mids. The midbass is punchy but could use a bit more texture. In terms of the mids, the mids are smooth and lush, with good vocal presence. Male and female vocals both sound natural and detailed, making the SuperMix 4 a great choice for vocal-centric tracks. The treble is smooth and non-fatiguing, retaining enough energy to keep the sound engaging. It extends well without becoming harsh, even at higher volumes. Technical Aspects: Technicality wise, The SuperMix 4 is pretty decent for the price, but nothing outstanding. It offers a wide and tall soundstage with decent depth. Imaging is good enough, albeit slightly hazy (Pentaconn Coreir fixes this). While the resolution and detail retrieval are good for the price, there is room for improvement in midbass texture (Pentaconn Coreir fixes this too). Drivability: The SuperMix 4 is remarkably easy to drive, performing well with everything from smartphones to high-end DACs. This makes it a hassle-free choice for any listener, as it does not require a powerful source to shine. Included Eartips and Recommendations: - Stock Tips: The stock eartips provide a smoother, warmer sound for the SuperMix 4. It provides a good, comfortable fit. However, I find that it makes the midbass sound a but undetailed and hazy. - Pentaconn Coreir Brass: My recommended eartips for the SuperMix 4 as I find it to improve texture overall, especially in the midbass. Tuning is slightly more V shaped with better sub-bass extension (see FR measurements above). Conclusion: The Simgot SuperMix 4 stands out as a powerhouse in the sub-$200 IEM market. Its well-balanced tuning, impressive technical performance, and fantastic value make it an excellent choice for both newcomers and seasoned audiophiles. Despite some minor flaws, such as the midbass texture and basic accessory package, the SuperMix 4 offers a highly enjoyable and versatile listening experience. Ratings: Value: S 🌟🌟🌟 Tuning: A+ Technicalities: B Enjoyment: A- Overall Rating: A+ (Objective Perspective) The SuperMix 4 sets a new benchmark for IEMs in its price range, offering balanced tuning and technical abilities that often surpass more expensive competitors. It's a solid recommendation for anyone looking for a good all-rounder experience without breaking the bank. Personal Rating: A (Subjective Take) For $149, the SuperMix 4 offers a well-balanced tuning and fantastic value. The biggest gripe I have with the SuperMix 4 is its midbass texture. However, upgrading the stock eartips to the Pentaconn Brass Coreir eartips "fixes" this issue, which makes the SuperMix 4 even more recommendable to me. If you are looking for a good all-rounder for less than $200, do check out the SuperMix 4.

People prefer EW300 because it has more bass and warm sounding. The treble is controlled and detailed. If you like the Harman curve, Supermix 4 is bang on that. It has better technicalities and is considered as value for money. Reviewers prefer it because how closely it matches the Truthear Nova which is one of the best IEMs in that price range if you want Harman Tuning.

I'm saying that Harman is V shaped. Not Vocal forwarded as you said. I never mentioned it being flat. Harman is known for recessed mids, hence thin male vocals. The EW300 has more warmth in vocals. Unless you are talking about Female vocals.

I got the SuperMix4 a couple of months ago. Some friends said that they wanted to listen to them (music) for 1 or 2 minutes. In the end, each one got blasted and listened at least 10+ minutes. The clarity also on FPS games is fantastic. Select a good AMP-DAC, since this WILL affect their sound when you plug them into a Desktop or Laptop.

After hours of research, I got the Supermix 4 + Fiio KA11. Multiple friends made fun of me, cause of the money I paid. They requested to listen some music through them for just 10 seconds. Each one stood and listened at least 10 minutes, cause they were suprised. It's my daily driver, I play competitive cod through them and DayZ. They are fantastic. Also using them for music through my phone. Clarity is great, I hear a lot of "new noises" in songs I know. The only proposals I read a lot in the forum that match the Supermix4 or users say they surpass it in certain areas are the 1) LETSHUOER S12 and 2) HIDIZS MP145. Watch out for the Quality Control issues on the EM6L, cause I almost bought them when I first started my research. I don't have an honest opinion on the other products.

I am with you. I play a lot fps and other games, and also collect vinyl and listen to music via a good HiFi System. I tried the last weeks the EM6L and the Supermix 4 as all big youtubers recommand them or better hyped them. a lot who are deep in IEM and headphones and frequencies graphes recommand them no wait hyped them too. Over a lot other IEMs. From audiophile side, stay away from both. get some good over ears for 120-200€ and you will enjoy music. For gaming. Try you buds which comes with your cellphone and tell me that you cant play a game anymore. Get a IEM, when you will, for around 30€ and play. You will see there is no real difference specially in the mids and more in treble where all the relevant sound is located in your games. American maybe Asians love bassy boomy IEM but thats not for music nore for gaming. Save the money you will have same fun, wont kill less enemies but can spent it for other things. maybe another inexpensive pair of IEM \^\^ Oh and never follow the hyped stuff. find your own way.

I personally plugged my SM4 to a blon v1 and never had to EQ, the blon made the bass more tame and boost the treble even more, making it kinda sibilant and shouty which I actually enjoy. I really love my SM4s

not really an audiophile so I cannot use any fancy words, but the supermix4's clarity is decent, tried the seeaudio braveries once but the SM4's clarity isn't as good as the braveries, but I find the braveries incredibly boring due to how safe it was with not a single ounce of treble in my ears, I really like treble and even like some sibilance in my ears, and the SM4 fulfilled just that. SM4's imaging is good too, when I use them to play some FPS like R6, strinova, fragpunk they can pinpoint the gunshots and footstep nicely. The supermix4 also has lots of bass in it, although they are pretty sharp and goes by very quick.

I'm the other way around, SM4 is very fun for me, I really like treble to the point where they r sibilant. The treble details is just great and the bass decay is super fast so it doesn't close the higher regions. The tea pros however are very dark and feels boring for me instead, it's still very detailed and the seperation is very nice, but it's so dark and I cannot feel the treble extension

Happy cake! Onto the question, in my personal listening experience I found it to be overall pleasant. As reference, I have the Subbassy Thieaudio Hype 4 and the Harman tuned Simgot SuperMix 4. Call me biased but I love Subbass. These ones are definitely a happy place for me. To my ears, the vocals are clear and forward. I don't hear much distortion on my set and the sounds feel very good. Bass like 808s and Kick drums have a good punch to them. There are some songs where I feel the bass guitar does tend to get lost in the mix, but I feel the rest of the positives make up for it. There's good space in the sound and it's good for gaming. I'm not too sure about competitive shooters, but if you're playing more immersive single player games (City Builder, Stardew, Monster Hunter, God of War) there's enough immersion to feel the weight and impact of key moments. Overall pretty good, it's not a $200 headphone but you can convince me it's closer to $100 for the sound quality https://preview.redd.it/4ak1cgyil6te1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b62b30f17ae95994bafae9e6268e6e896846abb8 (My set, I bought the NiceHCK RedAg cable for aesthetics)

From an audio perspective, it will outperform wireless earbuds. But, you lose the other advantages of a quality tws. With an IEM, theres a cable, no ANC (although with well fitted ear tips you will get reasonable passive noise isolation), things like transparency modes so if you’re in an environment you want music but still want to know what’s going on around you, and so on. I love my IEMs. But when I’m out and about, at the gym, or even at home when I need to move around at home doing things, my AirPods Pro 2’s are my go to. And yes, the sound is still very, very good. But something like an SM4 will sound better, it may not satisfy all your needs. I like having both options, as well as over the ear headphones. For me, it’s like picking the right tool for the job.

all those good stuff are very limited production from small brands(only cheaper stuff gets made a lot), I'd suggest new Apevoix Grit at $229 as by far the best value from good midrange ones, if you go down from there in price you get way worse sound quality, it's not that much worse for gaming but it's worse for gaming too, $89 Kefine Delci AE for example($150 simgot supermix4 is bit better for music but same for gaming basically)

Origin is amazing, as are Etymotic and Cadenza 4 but in a way none of them are good blind buys. Origin is for DD enthusiasts, and people who like Tanchjim sound specifically, so you should probably try the 4U first. Etymotic IEMs are very mid-focused neutral and also have a very deep fit that you will love or hate. Cadenza 4 is a bit more approachable but still very neutral and upper mids focused, to the point of being clinical and dry to some people. FiiO FD15 is another good rec but it leans neutral-warm with safe treble, like the Hexa though some people find it too neutral, not enough excitement factor. Now you could go for other hyped hybrids like Aful P5+2, Simgot SM4, or something from Ziigaat but they aren't as neutral, you would probably find the bass to be over-prominent and the highs bordering on too much. So from your description I would say Origin is the best for you. Not too much bass but you can feel it, vocal prominence that has weight for both female and male but never gets harsh, highs extension but not over-brightness. The graphs make it look brighter than it is IRL; and oh man the layering is something else, better than any other 1DD in my collection. But like I said before you might want to try the 4U first for a taste of the Tanchjim 1DD sound.

I owned both and in the end I found the SM4 to be slightly more pleasing and more comfortable. Although it was very close. I would consider the mp143 over the mp145 as its not as bulky version of the mp145. They also come with tuning nozzles so you can adjust the sound based on your preference. SM4 has no nozzles.

I had both the original tuning mp145 and supermix 4. I found both to be pretty similar and provided a nice balanced sound using the bronze tips. In the end I sold the mp 145 as I liked the supermix details and great sub bass as well as comfort as the mp145 is a bit large. You may consider ordering the new version of the mp145 which is mp 143 and releases in a about a weeks time.

Due to the Harmon tuning the mid bass is recessed a bit, but in its place you get great punchy sub-bass from both sets. If you want the most bass or most bass options I have to say MP145 because of the tip and filter selection your given.

Got mine 3 days ago, and I'm loving what I'm hearing so far. A word of warning: you absolutely can't use anything with a high output impedance, like a computer's 3.5mm input if you want to hear the intended sound of these. The bass becomes super heavy and it crushes the rest of the signature. Plugged into something like my Hiby FC4 dongle DAC though, the sound clears up nicely Aside from that, the rest of your assessment is pretty good. I'd also prefer having a touch more mid-bass in my audio gear, but given how good the rest of the sound is, it's a concession I'm willing to make. I'm enjoying these more than the EM6L right now. More detailed and the bass isn't overly soft and pillowy like on that set. $150 for a smooth, well-implemented quadbrid; I think Simgot's got another winner on their hands.

S12 Pro has more mid-bass punch at the cost of a smaller and less airy soundstage. It also has more laid-back vocals, whereas the SM4 puts vocals, especially female vocals, front and center. Details and resolution I'd give it to the SM4 hands down. Personally, I was surprised how average the S12 Pro sounded in both departments. It was that and the relatively closed-in sound that made me switch over to the original S12. I'd say the SM4's soundstage and technicalities are more in line with that instead of the Pro, that is, incredible (class-leading even) for the price.

AFAIK, the DD inside the SM4 is 10mm, while the EM6L’s is 8mm. Can’t be the same. I did find the bass quality and impact superior on the SM4. I wasn’t a big fan of the EM6L’s overly soft bass presentation.

This is like asking "I want to eat only one cuisine so which one should I go for: chinese, french, italian, japanese...". Qudelix helps by allowing for EQ. Classical requires very good balance and smooth treble which for me would drop P5, S12 Pro (apparently Artti T10 would be better for this. It's a newer cheapo version of the S12). EDM needs proper bass which would drop Kato, kinda Nova as well even if it's close and they're kind of a good compromise between the two. I'd go MP145 or Supermix 4 most likely. MP145 if I'd EQ it very likely.

Yes, the shell is more comfortable and fits well in small ears, better stock cable, smoother and cleaner sound presentation, more technically capable, scales excellent with powerful sources or an impedance adapter (you can check the Audio Amigo video about impedance adapters and cables with high impedance, the Sm4 becomes a bass cannon with that). Novas are good, but the Sm4 is better overall.

My SM4 just arrived and since this is my first IEM, I compared it with my Sony XM4 and AKG earphones. Tested it for gaming and listening to some music genres (classic, accoutic, rock, hip hop, metal, etc). Overall its an excellent sound from SM4. You can listen to every detail of the instrument in calm and natural nuance. But honestly, compared with Sony XM4, in some pieces of music its almost par except the details. Especially if I turned on the noise canceling feature. Both of them are like making you inside the studio room. For AKG, its more crisp and lacks bass. But tbh in PUBG, I still enjoy using this AKG. SM4 made me feel overwhelmed especially when the bomb or riffles sound in front of your face. And also, hearing the footsteps, I still feel the same with both devices.

I also play Hunt Showdown and have tried the S08 < SM4 < Tea Pro. I would put them in that order in my experience, given the amount of bass in the explosions of games OP mentions I think I would agree moving up to the SM4 range is probably advisable. S08s left a lot of background rumble in intense firefights which hurt some of the directional clarity. S08s are great for my music taste at the price point though. Also love how durable they are when bringing them to work so can recommend as well for edm/rock/metal.

I posted above but I did this, I went Supermix 4 -> Tea Pro then started experimenting back to more budget models with different tuning (dark, treblehead, meta, etc). Ultimately, I would die on a hill that if done correctly more drivers is absolutely an advantage when it comes to clarity and separation. If you enjoy those specific attributes once you hit that $300-$600 range there is no going back. Moving up from the Tea Pro took me like 7 months, but I just got a MEST MK2 last week and it is unreal amounts of detail with a unique soundstage that you would just need to experience. Tea Pros will stay for gaming and laid back music listening, everything else will be collecting dust now which means dead money.

Nothing technical to add, just that I enjoy these posts. Again this is something that a laymen like me can "feely"craft but understanding the mechanics around it is interesting. This feels 100% accurate in my experience as a casual observer, some other common IEMs for gaming that are recommended would be Simgot SuperMix 4 and Mangird Tea Pro (I owned both of these at one point). When playing Hunt: Showdown to my ears it was objectively easy to tell that the SuperMix 4 had less overall bass AND it was also a lot slower to recover to spikes in volume (say a barrel or explosive detonating nearby). Once I had purchased the Tea Pros, the tightness of the bass was extremely noticeable and this seemed to help clean up some of the mids and low treble to make it easier to discern the separation in chaotic environments. Another interesting thought as you had mentioned the Arrti T10, I used the Letshuoer S08s which was a full planar set for a few weeks as well when I had just gotten into the hobby. The difference in the spactial "feeling" not the actual precision itself is another concept that I would love to understand. To me it feels like there is a difference between the precision and how distance plays out on the stage created. For example, I believe with all the sets I have mentioned I could get a good sense of direction based on a sound cue; however, all three sets have a very different resolution of 3D space. I attempted to test as best I could the difference between the MEST Mk2 and Tea Pros to see if I would like one or the other more over the last few days. The Tea Pro's space resolution feels less detailed but more accurate to relative distance, the MEST provides absolutely unparalleled detail but because of the recessed pinna mids messes with the distance some. Both could absolutely be used but one does a better job at creating space "around you" rather than "in front" of you. Is there any way to objectively analyze the perception of that 3D space that is being created?

You seem to be following a similar upgrade path that I did a few months ago, the Tea Pro was a noticeable step up for gaming and a large step up musically for me. The SM4 was missing a little fun at the bottom, I don't like a ton of bass but the Tea Pro is much more fun in that area where I can EQ down to my preference. For gaming the Tea Pros so far are a 10/10, I play mostly Hunt: Showdown and the additional separation, staging, and tighter but punchy bass were all noticeably better for my ears. Additionally, they let me explore EQing a bit more to find my tuning preference. Now I am looking for more of an endgame for my music taste. I will be hanging onto these until they stop working for certain.

So I just got the MEST MK2s last week, and they have become my favorite musical set almost instantly. It’s just so pleasing and unique it’s hard to describe. I have also messed with Letshuoer S08s, Simgot SM4, Ziigaat Odyssey, Kiwi Ears Canta (least favorite so far), Letshuoer DX4. Tea Pros are where it’s at for value/performance for me. Odyssey might be better value overall but its lack of stage/space makes me appreciate the MEST/Tea Pro more.

I own a pair of each of the examples given (except Rays) and I personally prefer Explorer because it's easy to manage the volume without specific frequencies being too overwhelming (especially treble). I'd describe it as boring with a bass boost which was what I was specifically looking for when I started in the hobby. That being said, Supermix 4 is one of my choices for the more "fun" sound because the treble tends to be more tame than a lot of pairs with similar sound signatures. Hexa and EW300 are ones I very rarely reach for because of the treble. EW300 has more body to the mids than Hexa but I still prefer Hexa's deadpan sound for specific use cases.

I got the SM4 at release as a supposed upgrade to my trusty S12s. Bought into the hype and indeed they proved to be a nice set. But after the honeymoon phase subsided I grabbed my S12 again a couple weeks ago and they blew me away. Have an entirely renewed appreciation for the Letshuoers. Nothing against de SM4, they're a proper set, especially for the pricepoint. It probably should be near the top of one's list when they're looking for a quality IEM in that range. It's just that I like the S12 better. What the SM4 has going for it I think are technicalities like soundstage and presentation. It definitely got that immersive sound going on. The S12 still beat them in terms of resolution and that happens the be what I dig most in an IEM. It may also just be that I like the S12's frequency response. Long story short, yes I think SM4 punch above their weight in terms of technicalities, but at the end of the day preferences is paramount.

**Introduction** Supermix 4 has been widely praised by reviewers as one of the best IEMs under $200, tuned to the popular Harman 2019 target. I have been using SM4 for about 6 months now, so consider this a long-term review. **Build, Comfort, Design and Accessories** SM4 comes with an adequate set of accessories. The cable is good quality but on the stiffer side. It includes three pairs of decent quality eartips. The supplied case is well-built but somewhat small. The IEM itself is made of resin with a metal faceplate, and being made of resin it allows for a comfortable fit. However, the faceplate scratches easily if not stored properly in the case. The understated design with gold accents on the faceplate gives it a sleek and elegant look. Also SM4 is properly vented with two vent holes, something uncommon in hybrid IEMs. This helps equalize pressure inside the ear, making it more comfortable for long listening sessions. **Bass** The bass leans heavily towards sub-bass, with enough mid-bass presence to add punch to the sound. While the quantity should satisfy most listeners, the quality leaves me wanting more. Bass decays quickly compared to most dynamic drivers, it hits hard and then disappears, unlike in typical DDs, where bass notes linger for sometime, providing a more satisfying meaty response. Simply put, SM4’s bass feels like it’s coming from a DD with BA-like characteristics. The bass also lacks texture and doesn't give that tactile response. Now, on the good side, the bass never sounded soft in impact. **Mid-range** I'm not a fan of Harman Target’s midrange presentation. It sounds both shouty and thin, whether for male or female vocals. The 200Hz bass tuck, combined with the elevation in the 3-5kHz range, makes it annoying to listen to. Since SM4 is tuned similarly to Harman Target, it exhibits all these traits. The midrange, handled by BAs, sounds very detailed, with the tuning pushing everything right into your face. Some might prefer this engaging presentation, as it makes the vocals exciting to listen to. But I prefer IEMs with a more laid-back midrange tuning, with a hint of warmth in the lower mids to add richness to vocals. SM4, however, is the complete opposite of my taste, tuned to sound cleaner and analytical in the midrange. **Treble** The treble is the only part of the tuning I liked. It’s impressive but didn’t give me that wow factor on first listen. There’s no sibilance or harshness that would make it an immediate disqualifier, but in some songs, the treble feels overly aggressive to my taste. This is further amplified by the midrange, which leans towards an analytical and shouty presentation. Now for the good part, this aggressiveness in the treble highlights all the nuances in songs, making everything sound detailed and crisp. **Presentation** This is where SM4 redeems itself from its tuning choices. Detail retrieval and resolution are a clear step up from budget IEMs, highlighting nuances in songs that might have gone unnoticed before. Instrumental separation is excellent for the price, nothing feels mushed together, even in complex tracks. While the staging is within the IEM realm, the imaging is impressive for the price, making it easy to pinpoint where instruments and vocals sit in the mix. However, despite these strengths, SM4’s tuning issues overshadow its technical performance, making it less enjoyable overall for me. The only way to make it truly enjoyable to listen to is by using EQ. **EQ** I've only used SM4 with EQ. I bought it knowing I'd have to EQ the heck out of it just to make it listenable for my tastes. I highly recommend everyone EQ their headphones. This EQ fixes all the tuning issues I mentioned, especially the midrange. With EQ, the midrange sounds natural and balanced for both male and female vocals. Treble is reduced by 3dB to make it much smoother to listen to. However, the bass quality still remains the same. *Check the last 2 slides for EQ* **Conclusion** While SM4 has impressive technical performance, its tuning requires significant EQ adjustments to meet my expectations. That said, I’d still recommend it, as it offers strong subjective qualities like detail retrieval and imaging for the price. For anyone upgrading from budget IEMs, this is one of the best options without emptying the wallet. As always, this review is my subjective take on SM4, everyone has their own preferences, so feel free to disagree.

For until 200$, honestly there are many great choices like soundrhyme SR5, simgot supermix4, kiwi ears quintet (for more 10$ish), tangzu heyday (if you still can buy this), tangzu xuan nv, letshuoer s08. Personally, for budget more than 30$, I think there are many better choice than kz Personally I suggest 1. SR 5 or kiwi ears quintet if you want a balance and fun overall. Quintet is a bit better, but the treble timbre is somewhat a little bit metallic and tad too bright for me 2. Supermix 4 is similar to quintet, the driver configuration also similar. Like a budget choice of quintet 3. Heyday, this is one of my daily drivers besides mangird tea 2. The accessories from the box is decent and you got modular jack. 4. Tangzu xuan NV is pretty good but the tone is a little bit too laid back for me. Typical warm and safe tuning. Well basically my mangird tea2 is the definition of safe tuning, but mangird tea2 technical aspects are awesome if you can find suitable cable for it 5. Letshuoer s08, the new planar iem from letshuoer. The tuning is kinda similar to xuan NV but a little bit more engaging and for me and the detail is quite awesome as well.

This is what I tell people about the SM4 - if you like the Harman target, this is a legit end-game level set. It matches Harman almost exactly, has wonderful detail, separation, and staging (especially considering the price), is comfortable, well-built, and easy to drive. Its detail and resolution blow the DUNU Davinci out of the water, at half the price. If you like Harman, this is a one-and-done set. It's THAT good. Are there better out there tuned to the same target? Sure. But you'll spend 3-4x the price. Problem is - many people don't like Harman.

I haven't heard both. The SuperMix4 is EXTREMELY good. If you like Harman 2019 it should be your default pick. Comfortable, easy to drive, incredibly detailed sound, well-executed tuning.

From my experience with it, it's a really good set for price, but nothing particularly special, it has a good bass, good mids and a sort of good treble. The treble here is the usual sharp but not as airy variety. As long as there is no sibilance in the music it's airy, otherwise it's just sharp. I'd simply recommend a planar like mp145 instead to most people.

SM4 owner here and it's true, on paper it should be fun and engaging but it ends up with no weight for me, I always return to my Hexas. SM4 takes EQ very well so it's an easy fix, however for media and games, the contrast is top notch, way better than something neutral imo. Your EQ is really good, I haven't been able to find neutralish EQs to it, so this helps a lot!

I can't speak relative to the other k11, any ladder dac's or dac/amp's since I'm new to the scene. I can say, after using my Meze 99's for 3 years, it completely destroyed my motherboard's on-board codec/amp (ROG STRIX Z690-A) at the same bit depth (24/384). It just sounded more clear and separated, especially songs with good mixing. My Simgot SM 4 ran flawlessly, too, considering how sensitive they are. I just drove them at low gain and listened to the magic unfold. There's a few good reviews out there on Youtube now. I consider it a worthy buy, but there's people out there with more experience to justify the $160.

Supermix 4 are the best all-rounders here to me, can be a bit harsh on the treble but you can catch that up in the EQ they are great too for gaming (not the best imaging / 3d sound but that's to be expected at this price range)

had the supermix 4 for almost a year now, tea pro for a week now i really love the SM4 for the technicalities, agree with u/collapse-s's comment, by default they can get really piercing due to the Planar & PZT managing the trebles, but it's something you can ease with some EQ without degrading the audio quality (compared to other pairs you can easily EQ them) and you get a really clear and precise sound (blew my mind honestly) where they're lacking for my taste is audio stage for gaming, idk about the other but i find it hard to pinpoint enemies vertically, and enemies behind me feels in me somehow (really strange to describe...), really really hard to play competitively with them, i'm sometimes lost in the action cause of that the tea pro has been insane regarding that aspect, coming initially from a MMX300 headset which is a beast of audio soundstage for gaming, that's the closest I've ever heard so far with IEMs. pinpoint is really the term to use with them music-wise, i find the tea pro a bit less clear than the SM4, but that may be cause i'm used to the insane trebles of the SM4 (don't get me wrong, the sound is far from boxy and is really great) (best reference for gaming i heard: MMX300 headset; games i play: val, ow2, apex, dbd)

TL;DR for those short on time or not inclined to read the entire review (tables are broken so I am using an easy paragraph with Pros and Cons until someone fixes it): **PROS:** * Warm, rich and engaging set with very good note weight, proper tuning, enough details and information and well reproduced vocals and instruments * Technicalities are still good despite the focus on a smooth sound * Easy to drive (watch out for output impedance though) * Well built resin shells with matte faceplates that aren’t fingerprint magnets * Comfortable shell shape and fairly good isolation from external noises **CONS:** * The bass could use more punch and incisiveness, that would have led to better bass textures as well * Not the most precise imaging in the price range * Low impedance and high sensitivity also mean that one has to watch out for the output impedance in order to avoid substantial changes in the frequency response * Lackluster set of tips # INTRODUCTION Simgot has been one of the most interesting brands in 2023 and there was basically no IEMs’ buying guide without at least one set from Simgot (be it the EW200, the EM6L, the EA1000 or the older EA500).In this review, I’ll be sharing my opinion on the Simgot Supermix 4, a new set from the brand featuring 4 different drivers and a 4-way RC crossover. >*\~Disclaimer: the Simgot Supermix 4 were sent to me by Simgot so that I could write an honest review. The build quality is very good, the shells feel sturdy in the hands and the shape is also pretty comfortable in the ears despite their bigger-than-average size (thicker shells are needed, though, to fit the crossover and the drivers, so it’s not surprising). The isolation is pretty good as well, provided that you get a good seal (which is not hard as the nozzle is long enough to get a solid seal). https://preview.redd.it/5733xhahqjbd1.jpg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a566efb25865c9773a6c16cfe16a546c41690331 https://preview.redd.it/nwgpvcahqjbd1.jpg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e081c90c7f0af196e8be0e7f5e117636702088a6 https://preview.redd.it/otyuoyahqjbd1.jpg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e1556d14f81ba4944f19fd16c5e45b04e0a2c3f6 https://preview.redd.it/3uilcubhqjbd1.jpg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=195cabb4bf45a2b99dbb1d2aea7653b52862e3b2 https://preview.redd.it/c4x4ffahqjbd1.jpg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=70cbd94a990e20a43082bf747d2f1c723d986a0f https://preview.redd.it/iqyjfeahqjbd1.jpg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=35e39c332344be9518e8a9187b43042ffb24a5a3 # CABLE The cable looks and feels nice even though it’s not the best-in-class cable I’ve seen under 200$. It’s not bad by any means (it’s very good, honestly) but the fact is that there are some brands who managed to include similar cables for lower prices so it’s not really something to write home about. https://preview.redd.it/19a3ahfiqjbd1.jpg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a32f5d24b767bf9d19fbcc1bff082503ef8bab83 https://preview.redd.it/mnw14k8lqjbd1.jpg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9e11909b8f9cd26e608deb8ed060393f8690d4b3 # SOUND **GEAR USED FOR THE TEST** * DAC: Topping E30  * AMP: Topping L30, Fiio A3 * Mobile phones: Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, Xiaomi Mi A3, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra * Moondrop May’s DSP cable with PEQ=0 * Dongle: Apple Type-C dongle, Fosi DS2 * Portable DAPs: Benjie S8/AGPTEK M30B * Bluetooth Adapters: KBEAR S1, KZ AZ10  * Other sources: Presonus AudioBox iONE, Elgato Wave XLR **Do they need an amplifier?** They don’t strictly need an amplifier as they are relatively easy to drive, but I’ve noticed that a good/cleaner source slightly improves the overall sound. For this reason, one gotta watch out for the output impedance as the low-end shelf could be impacted (i.e. impedance adapters are something one could play with in this case). **Sound signature** Th Simgot Supermix 4 follow a Harman-ish U-shaped signature. * **Lows:** The lows are rich, especially when it comes to the well-extended sub-bass, which has very good textures and control. The midbass is less in focus with respect to the sub-bass: it’s speedy, controlled, but it lacks a bit of punch and density that could provide for better texturing. I think this will be my biggest gripe with this set, and even though this is not a bad low-end, I wish there was a bit more “cream” and punch overall.Don’t get me wrong, it’s a very well-rounded and rich low-end, but those looking for the best punch or incisiveness won’t find in the Supermix 4 the perfect mix between power and texturing. * **Mids:** The midrange have nice male vocals even though they could use a bit more warmth. This is typical when it comes to Harman-ish tuned IEMs since they focus more on sub-bass than on mid-bass, producing a less thick lower-midrange. The instruments are vivid in general and the reproduction of female vocals is very energetic as well (may be a pro or a con depending on who’s the listener). Those who search for very polite and mellow female vocals aren’t gonna like the Supermix 4, but those who instead like some added energy and forwardness in the upper midrange will find the Supermix 4 very entertaining (even though sometimes borderline hot). * **Highs:** The highs are smooth yet booster, there are lots of details and enough air to leave space between instruments and vocals. In any case, I would not recommend the Supermix 4 to those who are treble sensitive because there are still some hints of brightness that some may not like, even though the general sound doesn’t come across as peaky or extremely analytical to the point of being fatiguing. So let’s say everything flows smoothly and it’s very hard to find real faults, except for a few cases of unnaturalness during the reproduction of some cymbals, due to the Supermix 4 having a bit more upper treble than your average Harman IEM. The **soundstage** is pretty wide, with average height and depth for the price. The **instrument separation** is good as every instrument and vocal has its own space, and **imaging** is also in line with other products in this price range so this is good news. # SOME COMPARISONS **Simgot Supermix 4 vs Celest Phoenixcall** >The Supermix 4 have better timbre overall, they sound fuller, thicker, with more natural vocals and instruments reproduction and better note weight. The stage also feels wider than on the Phoenixcall. The Phoenixcall win in terms of bass tactility and bass speed and the imaging is sometimes a bit more accurate than on the Supermix 4, but the soundstage on the Supermix 4 is bigger and more immersive. The problem with the Phoenixcall is that they sound less natural than the Supermix 4, with a strongly recessed midrange, subpar sub-bass extension and some aggressiveness in the treble region. Comfort is great on both but the Phoenixcall have smoother shells that feel more comfortable and that provide for better isolation. They also look and feel more unique, so the Phoenixcall win hands down when it comes to the overall design. They both come with very good cable even though I prefer the one that comes with the Phoenixcall. Celest also provides more tips and an overall richer unboxing experience. https://preview.redd.it/nf7mzi2zpjbd1.jpg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e0fbffe9dc22888ab43a878e7199f19160fc1473 **Simgot Supermix 4 vs Celest Relentless** >They both have a good sub-bass extension but the Supermix 4 feel denser in the sub-bass region thanks to the less emphasized upper range. The bass is punchier, more textured and speedier on the Relentless. The midrange is generally more forward on the Supermix 4, that also have a more emphasized upper midrange. Let’s say that the Relentless have forward vocals but the upper midrange is more controlled and less forward than on the Supermix 4. The treble is where the differences become very noticeable as these also influence other parts of the spectrum: while the Supermix 4 go for a smooth treble and only “good” detail retrieval, the Relentless go all-in on details and resolution thanks to the mid-treble boost and the better upper-treble extension, even though this also means that the Relentless are not as smooth as the Supermix 4 for long listening sessions. Anyways, it’s surprising to see that the Relentless have minor timbrical issues, but it’s even more surprising to see Simgot succeeding at implementing 4 different drivers without struggling with the overall tonal balance: props to Simgot for this. The Supermix 4 play in a soundstage that is wider than the one portrayed by the Relentless, but the Relentless kinda make up for it with a bit more depth and height (even though not by much). The imaging is superior on the Relentless whereas the instrument separation is comparable. The design and build quality are great on both sets (even though I still think that the Relentless look better), comfort is very similar and isolation is a tad better with the Relentless in the ears. The Relentless win effortlessly when it comes to the overall unboxing experience, including the variety of tips provided and the stock cable. https://preview.redd.it/rhl78qx3qjbd1.jpg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8e54bc9fa67ee1a23c8e1efa2ce94cb588147a72 **Simgot Supermix 4 vs Simgot EM6L** >The Supermix 4 and the EM6L have only one similarity and it’s the bass: it really seems like it’s being reproduced by a similar driver unit (perhaps the same driver but I have no info about this).Everything else is different: the Supermix 4 have a slightly better sub-bass extension, better note weight, better timbre, a fuller midrange, a smoother treble region yet with similar extension, and more balanced vocals and instruments (even though the upper midrange is more “borderline” shouty than on the EM6L). The EM6L win in terms of details and perceived resolution, even though they sound a bit thinner, slightly more fatiguing, less “musical” and less natural overall. The Supermix 4 play in a wider and slightly deeper soundstage than on the EM6L, even though the perceived height is very similar. The imaging is superior on the Supermix 4, though not razor sharp as on other sets. Both are well built but the Supermix 4 feel slightly better in the hands and the matte faceplate isn’t a fingerprint magnet like EM6L’s glossy shells. The EM6L are slightly smaller so they may be better for people with smaller ears, but the Supermix 4 are well designed as well so I wouldn’t worry about the size. The isolation is similar. They both came with a cable of similar quality and a lackluster set of tips. https://preview.redd.it/p945wum5qjbd1.jpg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=996ba3fa088c06e1624cce485de7c16b335c76ed # FINAL THOUGHTS The Supermix 4 are among the smoothest products in the price range, and this surprises me because of the well-done implementation between the different drivers. Not only do they sound very engaging, musical and rich, but they also do that without sacrificing the technicalities, which are in-line with the price range. My biggest gripe with the set is the fact that the bass is not as incisive and punchy as I would have liked it to be, but overall it’s not a dealbreaker and in fact the Supermix 4 still get my full recommendation as a very compelling set that (again) shows what Simgot is able to do.

My SM4 suddenly died from a day to another and I haven't been able to get a replacement or repairment since it was a review sample. I liked it a lot. The Defiant tuned very close in terms of low-end but they have more bass punch, whereas the Simgot were a bit less dynamic in that regard. However, the SM4 were more detailed and sparkling up top and the imaging and soundstage were slightly better. I'd say go for the Supermix 4 if you can handle some brightness and if you have the budget. Instead, go for the Defiant if you want a less emphasized treble yet with slightly inferior technical performance, punchier/more tactile and more textured bass and if you want to save some money.

Don't worry much about dac/amps until you buy sensitive IEMs like the Supermix 4(sensitive with sources) or most of the time multi-driver IEMs(hard to drive, needs power). So the best budget option is to buy cheap dongle DACs that costs around 5$ and up like Jcally jm6 pro, Venture Electronics Odo, or KZ AM01 powerful enough to drive most IEMs and low impedance drivers like the Supermix 4 and Tangzu Xuan NV.

Since you've been using Truthear Zero Reds which has a large nozzle, I'd recommend the Hidizs MP145 a warm planar. I have them but my ears are small so I can only enjoy them for short periods before it gets too uncomfortable :( My favorite planar I've bought or tried, beating the S12, Timeless and Tangzu Heyday. Other than that, Supermix4 is a great choice and very well praised by IEM reviewers, it is my Top 1 or 2 favorite IEM at the moment.

Explorer has a clear lean on the bass, while still being clean-ish in the sound and having a decent performance for the price, good if you like inmersive sound or a somewhat relaxed bassy replay. SM4 would be noticeably more energetic and even a bit leaning into the treble, a lot of people say that is very refined in technical performance, but the treble could be a bit too much for some, the truthear nova is the the slighly less energetic (specially in the treble area) equivalent, both having a technical edge over the Explorer, but not for much.

The other two are moondrop rays and Simgot SuperMix4. The redditor who commented on the other sets was very much on point, EW300 is your safest bet from all of these, but you mean warm as in warm sound or Warm as in you want it slightly bassy? Because EW300 could count as "warm" in the sense that is slightly bassy, but the sound is somewhat balanced, not much notably colored by bass, which would be the warm sound. As for the others, Rays seem to be a repackage and maybe re tuning of the moondrop May, is fairly new but is a DSP iem, so it uses type-c, might be good, but is too early to say if is worth the price. As for the SM4, is a quite energetic and detailed set, but can feel a bur too intense in the treble for some, and specially the mid range, where vocals are, can feel a bit thin - lacking body -, is good if you known you like that energetic sound, but not the best for a person starting in the hobby even if it has allrounder capabilities too. And for the record, the Explorer is not reall muddy but quite bassy, so people that dont like that much bass often feel it like it gets on the way of the rest of the sound, treble is also not particularly boosted so it can feel relaxed but a bit less detailed too.

I was in the same boat and just bought a few pairs sight unseen - here’s my take on the ones I own (my references are the OG AirPod Pros, Pro 2, Sony XM4s, Grado 125i): These last few weeks I’ve used the KZ Castor Bass, Letshuoer S08, Simgot SuperMix 4 KZ Castor: Not the same level as OG AirPod Pros, treble is a bit muffled. Wouldn’t really use them over AirPods, but hey they were dirt cheap Letshuoer S08: Got them for a steal ($95AUD / $60USD). Great technicalities, instrument separation is amazing. Very interesting sound, can be a bit fatiguing on the treble. Bass is tight but punchy enough. I would put them equivalent to AirPod Pro 2. SuperMix 4: Fuller bass compared to the S08 but it doesn’t hit as acutely (if that makes sense), treble is smoother and easier to listen to. Would say they are still an AirPod Pro 2 equivalent or slightly better Of the 3, the S08s are the ones I keep going back to cause they are always interesting to listen to. Like others have said, the S12 or S12 pros might be worth a try as the S08s are so good already and its meant to be an improvement on top of that - but be careful of the treble Edit: For reference I normally listen to a lot of electronic, dance, pop

I'm not helping with this comment. With the disclaimer out of the way, I have both SM4 and EW300 DSP. For a while the EW300 was my go to for anything with a USB-C port, they're comfy enough and I have no complaints about the sound quality, plus they're dirt cheap. Right now they're with my fiancé and I think she won't give them back. SM4 is in my pocket/backpack basically all the time, I take it out several times per day while in a taxi or a supermarket so I don't have to listen the the fucking Christmas/Chinese New Year music. It's accompanied by KA13 because it neatly fits in the case that comes with the IEM. I find them VERY comfortable. If you can demo both sets somewhere and see what works for you, that's probably the best way to decide. Or just use Amazon, if you live somewhere with consumer rights, and return the one you don't like.

Yes, that could have been the case. I heard them at an audio event and compared to all the other earphones (even budget ones), they felt wierd. But I only spend a short time with them so there is that. I've found that soundstage and dynamics are very important for me and the Midbass-Uppermids level determines that for my ear anatomy. So even very cheap earphones like Wan'er and QKZ HBB sound good due to their soundstage. While Kefine Klean feels very one dimensional and lacks dynamics (contrary to what everyone else says). Olina SE, EA500LM and Supermix 4 are all great in these aspects (but they have their own issues).

Yeah the k11 is good. I like how it sounds out to the btr7 4.4 quite a bit though. The sm4 is sensitive to output impedance, so if you want the intended sound you’ll want something less than 1ohm output. The btr7 4.4 is 2.8ohm, so it has an effect on the fr..like a slight bass boost.

Truthear Hexa or simgot em6l would be a good neutral option. Also aful performer 5 could be there as well. Simgot supermix 4 as well, but you’ll want a low output impedance source (less than 1ohm) to match it with otherwise it’s going to be either too bright or muddy (it’s only a 7.2ohm iem) . Apple dongle would be fine

The quintet has like a laser sharp resolution, almost sounds like it upscales the music. Simgot supermix 4 has this effect too, but not quite as much. It’s the pzt and planar drivers in them that do this.

I think so, it trades blows with sets like hype 4/ziigaats. Of course those are better, but I think sm4 is the best “Harmon” iem in that sub $200 range. It is very source picky though as it’s only 7ohms, but you should be good running out of any dongle. I really like how it sounds on the btr7 4.4 slot, which I found out is actually 2.8ohms output. I’m guessing impedance adapters would have a similar effect, or an ifi iematch adapter. Otherwise it sounds good out of a standard <1ohm dongle. I haven’t tried it on my Nintendo switch or steam deck yet, but those have no problem driving the majority of my non planar iems.

So. I started trying to get a bunch of sets to see how much the difference is between the low range and the middle range ( my middle is probably a lot of people’s low range ! ). These are like a quick comment on the sets. (Spoiler : the zero 2s were awesome ) Super mix 4 - perfectly neutral Green dragon - neutral, less dynamic range Black lightning- flat, no dynamic range , uncomfortable fit Zero2 - balanced, touch more silky smooth bass. Hyper comfortable. Kiwi ears - zero2 , bass a bit more direct

My first impression, it was hard to get a good fit. the nozzles are short and narrow. The standard eartips are crap. I tried many eartips where I had to remove some from my ears with tweezers. Finally good seal with SpinFit W1 eartips which almost doubles the price if you have to buy them for a good sound. Sound quality, bass: quite punchy but not as fast as for example the Simgot Super Mix 4. The bass bleeds a bit in the mid range. The mids and highs are a bit more in the background than with my multi driver iems. I don't regret the purchase, nice to have in the collection. I've been in the iem hobby for a year and my endgame iem for now is the ThieAudio Hype 4 with a much better bass while the mids and highs remain upright. The ND-planet cannot be used without a DAC, no volume and bass at all then. I used the Fiio KA1 (usb) and BTR13 (bluetooth) no EQ used.

SM4 sounds about right, but if it’s too bright and fatiguing for you, the Kiwi Ears KE4 might be worth a try. To my ears, the KE4 has harder-hitting bass, more forward vocals, and warmer and less spicy treble compared to the SM4, which I found fun and bright but fatiguing until I swapped out ear tips to SpinFit W1.

Thanks for these insights! I'm still trying to learn how changes to the frequency response grant certain perceived qualities. I found the SuperMix 4 too bright and fatiguing until I tamed it a bit with SpinFit W1s. (Otherwise, I could only listen to the Fall Out Boy discography for \~30 minutes. No such discomfort with my other IEMs.) Even then, I felt the SM4's mids (?) were too recessed/distant compared to the KE4's more forward/intimate presentation. That's when I became wary of Harman targets and IEMs said to be "very bright". Perhaps that means I'm a bit treble sensitive and prefer something closer to the JM-1/new meta target? The Braindance looks cool as hell but on paper it scares me. I actually have been interested in the Punch! I grew up enabling "bass boost" whenever I could on my Apple devices. I still do. (KE4 on HiBy R4 Eva with DRX10K Dynamics--bass boosted--and Sound Field plugins enabled.) I enjoy a bit of rumble and a lot of punch as long as it doesn't become... soupy? Though I am also curious about "more technical" sets, which is why I bought the Kiwi Ears Aether. To my ears, the Aether is "truly neutral" and quite detailed. So KE4 for fun and relaxed and Aether for fun and analytical. I've been mulling over the Tea Pro, Dusk, and Punch/basshead sets, but I'm worried diminishing returns will kick in hard coming from KE4 and Aether... Like the other poster said, perhaps experiencing an EST driver would be worth it?

If you want a Harman IEM https://squig.link/?share=Harman_Adjusted_Target,Simgot_SuperMix4 That’s pretty darn Harman. I like them a lot, it’s on my roster for when I want some Harman but don’t want to drag my Qudelix around with me. I heard about some negative hot takes on them from (typically) objective people which I found sus, you’re either taking issue with the fit or you’re taking issue with a literal target curve converted almost verbatim into an IEM. Litmus. I didn’t find them too large or heavy but I’m also coming off a run of gigantic 250 driver hybrid monstrosities I demo’d so everything feels small and light to me, I’ve had no issues. I usually use Comply oval tips and whatever Azla tips I have within reach. You absolutely do not need to plug these into an amp ever as they run on a watch battery so your over ear gear doesn’t matter. If you’re comparing these to an open back headphone for anything that involves hearing stuff around you, your results are probably going to be as expected from devices put into your ear canal. As far as waiting, Harman is Harman. It may not be the ideal IEM target for everyone, that’s still a whole thing but it’s probably not going anywhere anytime soon as a standard.

These are the best of the best at your price point. I would take a look at the tuning and find what fits your taste. The supermix4 would be my personal first choice for gaming in particular. I say that because completive gaming demands a couple of key aspects: soundstage and sound/instrument separation. You want to be able to hear where certain sounds are coming from (footsteps, gunfire) and you want those sounds to be distinct and "separated' from all other noise. For example, any of these three iems will allow you to hear enemy footsteps coming from around a corner or from above you while a teammate is beside you shooting at other enemy players. This made possible because the iems utilize multiple drivers that are designated to certain frequencies which allows for you to isolate distinguish different sounds among a busy soundstage (such as a gunfight). Don't overspend when gaming is your main purpose for the purchase. Gaming performance plateaus really quickly to the point where even most competitive people sitting on a stage will not use IEMs that expensive. Make sure they have good clarity and resolution. Imaging and soundstage are subjective but those two are more easily defined in reviews. Simgot SM4 is the highest I would recommend you go here, to be honest though there's plenty of sub $50 options that should do the trick as well.

My initial impressions were very strong. I used them almost exclusively for gaming. Right off the bat, the imaging/separation of sounds was very good. After using it for an extended period of time, I found that the weak bass actually hurt its performance because many gaming sounds have quite a strong bass presence. The sharp treble kind of faked how good the imaging is, because in an ambient setting with no action, it sounds crisp/detailed. But once you actually get into the action, it doesn't feel quite right. I ended up returning it and picking up a used set of Yanyin Canon 2's and these are my primary gaming IEMs now (well sort of, I've since upgraded but still go back to the Canon2's on a regular basis). They're an older set so you can typically find them on used markets for great prices.

At the top of your budget, the em6l gets recommended a lot. I tried it and it performed pretty great. I use the SM4 now, but that's mostly because I was using them for music and wanted more bass. Otherwise, tripowin vivance, Crinacle Zero red/blues all get recommended quite often for gaming. I used the reds for a bit and they worked well, they were just uncomfortable for me since I have smaller ear canals and wasn't aware of tip rolling until after I returned them.

I used the em6l for a bit, but thought it was lacking some bass, so I went to the supermix 4s, and I've been pretty happy with them. I'm not a sweat or anything, but been using them for overwatch, valorant and Apex for multiplayer comp titles, and an assortment of other multiplayer fps games and am thoroughly pleased. That said, I also have used the Truthear Crinacle reds, and outside of them being uncomfortable I would have stuck with them. I do think the SM4 and EM6l are a bit better with their imaging, but the price jump doesn't match the performance increase. I also have the salnotes Crinacle Zero 2 and would throw them in the same spot as the more expensive Truthear reds in terms of soundstage/imaging, though my gaming time on both of those is pretty short compared to the em6l and SM4

Yes for me the SM4 was just straight up better but was it worth 2x the price of the EW300? Depends on you. I think for value, the EW300 is insane and one of the best. You could also look at the EA500LM if you like a slightly brighter tone or DUNU Kima 2 if you listen to very vocal songs. I still think Moondrop Kato on sale for like $110-130 is a great buy too.

Honestly for an entry level iem just save up some more for the supermix 4, skip the timeless soundstage is so narrow. Then the next upgrade with honestly be either the Variations or Xenns Top. Final endgame will be the Thieaudio big boys (Monarch, Prestige, Origin). Alternatives would be Elysian endgame range iems too.

The Truthear Nova have really big nozzles, if you want a good all around pick the Supermix 4 is probably the best in the < $200 range. For me the treble was a bit fatiguing, so if you're sensitive to that you might want to skip it and get something like the Aful Explorer. FWIW I really like the Letshuoer S08, they punch completely above their price point and right now they are on sale for 25% for ($75). I think at that price they are an absolute steal.

The supermix4 is my current favorite in my collection and I dont see a need to buy anything else until im ready to jump into that 300+ range, which isnt any time soon. I am a bit intrigued by the Dunu Davinci though. As a reference the rest of my collection consists of wa'ner, zero 2, zero red, hexa and timeless. as for the eartips: those are pricey but im willing to try them out. I like the Dunu S&S and use them in a size L. If I were to try the Pentaconn tips, what size would you say I should order?

Sounds to me like you aren't getting a good seal, you should have looked into IEMs more. The lites are what's known as "unvented" IEMs, all that means is that there's no hole for the pressure to relief itself, since its pure resin there's a method to put them in with good enough sized tips to create that seal but still be comfortable. Put them in and then one at a time, hold the IEM in your ear as you pull with your other hand the top of your ear upwards, this breaks the seal, releases some pressure and then seals again. It sounds to me like maybe you thought smaller tips were good at relieving that pressure so you ended up using them and preventing a good seal. Every post I've seen on reddit has recommended TANGZU Sancai tips and I got to say they're amazing. They designed with divots to release the pressure on unvented IEMs. IEMs are great, I have a 700$ set of over ear planar headphones that're open back, giving them more of a sound stage, and I still prefer my lites to them. If you bought them on amazon and are still within the return window, you should try another highly recommended pair that just came out, and are vented at 150$ called the Simgot SuperMix 4. Hope this helps even a little.

The only one in your list I have experience with is the supermix 4 and I agree with you. I have the Tea Pro now and it's pretty darn good for FPS gaming. The imaging is spot on to my ears. It has, what I feel, is the max sound stage an IEM can do. I even tested my friend's Monarch MK3 against them and the gaming performance was similar with the mk3 edging them out in bf2042. Both are tremendous for gaming. The mk3 is amazing at everything imo.

Really solid post, enjoyed reading your impressions on the SM4! They align a lot with mine, feel the mids are a little recessed and thin and can get overpowered by the sub-bass on certain tracks. It also leans on the technical/analytical side and coming from warm & musical sets the amount of detail gave me a bit of a headache at first. Overall a great set though, plays most genres in my library decently well and punches above its weight at this price range especially if you manage to get it on sale. Detail retrieval and resolution was on par with some of my older, more pricey sets. Also have to give props to Simgot for how well-integrated the drivers, despite the use of 4 different driver types, the cohesiveness of the SM4 is a stand-out factor to me.

Some basic rules: 1. It has to be either an IEM you currently have in your collection or an IEM you have used before. So it can be an IEM you have demo'd, borrowed, or previously owned. **You have to actually know what the IEM sounds like.** 2. As mentioned in the title, **no EQing the IEM**. You have to stick with its out-of-the-box sound profile. 3. Music genre can be as specific or as general as you want. 4. For the purposes of this hypothetical, **assume you have access to your ideal source, eartips, cable, etc. Your music is available to you in the highest resolution possible.** 5. Feel free to bend the rules, but try not to break them. My choice would be my Simgot Supermix 4 and the genre would probably be Pop (especially J-Pop). Maybe it's not my favorite genre, but it's one that provides a lot of variety. Runner up is "video game soundtracks", though that's not really a genre. If I could bend the rules it might be my TGXear Serratus 2 and Indie Rock. They're a fantastic combination. The Serratus 2 are earphones though, so I am definitely bending the rules. **So, what's your combo, r/iem?**

I honestly don't get all the amazing reviews the Supermix 4 get. my first pair of iem were 7hz Zeroes, which for 20ish euros price are really impressive. With nothing to compare them with, I couldnt find anything to fault them but this being an audio hobby, I had to get something better but what ? So looking around, I eventually found Jay's iem rankings and saw that he recommended Simgot ew300 as a beginner set...so I looked at some more reviews, all of them being very positive, so I bought them for 80e. It's hard not to be impressed by the build quality and looks of the EW300. Soundwise, it is a step up from the Zeroes, in term of mids clarity which is enough for me to the justify the purchase. All in all I have been very happy with them. I still think the Zeroes are quite close sound and comfort wise but they are just not as beautiful an object. But, I had to get something better, so I went back to Jay's list. I obviously was not ready to spend 300+e on a pair, so looked at what he had as great value....which led me to the Supermix 4. Here it gets extremelly confusing. I don't like overpowering bass. I want bass extension along with great mid clarity, and so many opinions of the SM4 mentioned how bassy they were, so that put me off and had me looking for an alternative....read some more, confronted them with more expensive alternatives Elysium, Shure s12...then I started to get a sense that a lot of opinions are completely off base and contradictory. Saw some EW300 video reviews that were completely at the opposite of my experience soundwise....After much back and forth, I eventually decided to get the SM4. If Jay's list brought me to the EW300 that I really enjoyed, how could I not like the SM4? Today they arrived.....and oh boy am I disappointed. First thing, the comfort level is terrible, They re quite thick with a short nozzle, therefore they don't fit nicely in my ears like the EW300 do. But what about the sound? First of all, the stock cable they come with is quite thicker than the EW300's which anyone would assume is a sign of greater quality...I put on a first song, and I'm taken aback at how tiny they sound, whereas the EW300 and Zeroes sound expansive. Do they requite burn in? probably but my other iem sounded pretty good right away. Is it the cable? so I exchanged it with the EW300's cable. That improved drastically the sound, making it more open and expansive but still, it didnt sound as good and one question popped up right away....where is all that bass people were talking about? There is no meat on the bones when listening to them. Such a lean sound. The EW300 has a lot more bass without ever being bassy. So, I'm not exactly sure what are all these reviews about.... As for the equipment I used them with. Directly wired to an Audio GD r11 mk2 Dac/preamp/Headphone amp. I also used them wirelessly with a Fiio btr3k bluetooth dac/amp. Anyway, even if they had sounded great, they would have been returned because the comfort is really bad. I guess I'll stick with the EW300 a long long time because I dont see myself spending 500-1000e for a marginally better sound at the probable expense of comfort. These more expensive iems all seem to me to be quite bigger.

I think the KB02 is a good entry point to bone conduction. Effectiveness of the tech seems to vary from person to person and the low price would be a good way to understand if you would prefer to get higher end BC like the DMAs or a multi hybrid set like the Supermix 4. You might even be happy with the KB02, ultra budget sets can be very surprising. I was using a set of borrowed Supermix 4 for gaming (excellent btw) when I added KZ PRX planars to an order just to bump my total up to the next coupon tier. I returned the Supermix because the cheap PRX set (on a 4.4 balanced cable with a good source) sounded better to my ear for gaming and music. A tuning which matches your personal sound preferences can trump a technically better IEM.

Also SM4 owner, I broadly agree with your review. I found it lacking mid-bass, and has too much treble with occasional shout I tested your EQ, the result is okay (maybe the lower midrange is now too much, and it still is too sparkly in the treble but you said you enjoy SM4 treble). However, I did not like your direction. Basically you cut away too much, using too wide Q, when you could just tweak it with peak filters only to get the same result. See your result vs my tweaked version (I moved your EQ up 2dB to get a better normalization). There's technically nothing wrong with what you're doing as long as it works (the crossovers on SM4 doesn't seem to misbehave much), but it makes both visualization and A/B listen testing painful, as you have to keep re-adjusting the gain when doing both https://preview.redd.it/s1ur87oyvuse1.png?width=1887&format=png&auto=webp&s=a1148a48f4070bf5477baf3fc6ba3328ca298470

>As you can see, there's a difference in pre-amp between my EQ and yours. Yes, but then you cut the entire upper-mids and treble by more than 2dB, achieving the same FR as my tweaked version. I had to raise your entire EQ by 2dB to match against the original SM4, so effectively your pre-gain is 2dB more than it should be If you A/B test, it has to be at the same overall volume. Using your EQ, you cannot do this unless you change the pre-gain between tests, and this makes it one button changes much harder. This is why I changed the values in my tweaked version, which gives you the same result but makes A/B testing much easier as you can set the pre-gain once and only toggle the EQ on/off Edits: Formatting

Definitely IEMs are way better than headphones with similar price. I think the reason it's the drivers quality. A 50$ IEM driver will mostly be technically better than a 50$ gaming headset driver. Just make sure to check the quality of the soundstage and imaging (by reviews). Also a hibryd drivers (multi driver) IEM can be a game changer. I don't recommend a builted in mic just because an external one (even super cheap) will always sounds better. I love my Simgot SuperMix 4 for gaming, but I know they're not very cheap. I can suggest the Truthear Gate for that purpose or the cheaper Tangzu Wan Er

I own both of these sets, the Supermix 4 is a good Harman tuned IEM. The Harman tuning is what Harman Inc. Found the majority of people prefer. I believe it's normally priced higher than what you wanted to spend. The Explorer is more of a new Meta tuning. New Meta is a flatter tuning with less ear gain usually making the IEMs easier to listen to at higher volumes. I am not a big fan of the new Meta tuning I normally listen at lower or a medium volume, so I prefer the boost in the upper mids and treble and a boosted bass. I hope this helps.

In order of budget for decent footstep imaging on IEMs, Kefine Klean($50), Kefine Delci AE($75), Simgot EM6L ($100), Simgot Supermix 4 ($150). I mean if you really want to take it competitively, headphones always beat out the IEMs. The simgot supermix 4 are pretty similar to the EW300 with more treble (which is what footsteps have a lot of) and a pretty safe tuning. Not the greatest bass, but maybe some EQ and certain eartips would make up for that. I play a lot of fps games, cs2 and val included and did not enjoy the ew300 but really like the super mix 4. A lot of people also swear by the EM6L for shooters

So I just received my SM4s about a week ago, first pair of IEMs. I picked them up primarily to replace my ~8yr old HyperX Cloud II gaming headset. I picked up the Kinera Celeste Ruyi cable as well as it has a boom mic incorporated. My primary use for the SM4s is for warzone. A bunch of YT creators have been raving recently how much better IEMs are than any headset for picking up different sounds in-game and whatnot. (Footsteps). I have watched a bunch including ArtIsWar, Fresh Reviews, BadSeed Tech, optimum, Gizaudio, crinacle (can only take so much of that guy).. Anyways so far, yes it has been a huge improvement in picking up little nuanced noises/sounds in game that I NEVER noticed before. So, overall I am happy with it. However, the first thing that I noticed when I put these things in/on.. there is a slight hissing noise. Not even plugged in. The hiss persits when plugged in as well. My PC case has 9 total noctua fans spinning at IDK.. fast, it moves a good chunk of air, and my AC is blowing on the wall over there.. there is a decent amount of airflow in my room. So I go into my bathroom with these things in/on, again, unplugged, shut the door, no air current, and no more slight hissing. It's dead silent. So from what I can surmise, it's the little air vents on the outer shell of the IEMs body. I saw someone comparing them to the Kiwiears Orchestra lights I believe, and they were going on about how much better it is to have vents to allow the drivers to "breathe" and how that doesn't contribute to pressure building up in the ear canal or something to that extent. Ok, makes sense. Well, now I get this hissing. I have tried this with the original cable that came with the IEMs as well, same thing. Does anyone else get this hissing, do I have a defective pair of IEMs, am I crazy? Could I block the little vents off with just some tape or something without compromising/breaking anything, would that "blow out" the drivers or something?

Thanks for replying! I actually ended up using my the DAC from my old HyperX headset. It's a ~4' USB cable that plugs into the back of my PC, with the other end having a 3.5mm input that is mic capable and some volume/mic adjustment buttons. This works great. But the issue is this hissing happens at all times, even with the 3.5 mm connector from the SM4s UNPLUGGED, just dangling freely. Like, I'm sitting here holding the 3.5mm connector, looking at the gold rings, with the IEMs in my ear holes, and,.. hisssss I have tried the cable that came with the SM4s, and the cable from the Celeste Ruyi, plugged into the HyperX DAC, plugged directly into my phone, my laptop, my PC(actually in this case I get no volume at all(too much impedance/requires a DAC?, IDK)). Even with no cable connected to the SM4s at all(the little two-pronged connector), still hisses when they are in my ears. No matter what they are plugged into or not, they hiss when no volume is being produced. Now I will add, whenever there is volume being driven through the SM4s, the hisss is unnoticeable, but as soon as there is a few seconds of silence, I notice it again. Again, the main purpose of these for me is in COD warzone, so in-between gunfights, trying to listen for enemy sound queues, this hissing can be distracting. And it's not like I'm in a wind tunnel or anything either, it's just a hotel room with the big A/C unit under the window and bunch of fans in my PC tower. But as soon as I go into the bathroom and shut the door, to where there is no ambient air-flow, the hiss stops. Could this be 'burn-in'? Do I need to just put these puppies through the rigors for some time, blast some EDM/death metal through them for a while and this hisss will just go away? I just think its crazy how I'm having this issue with a pair of $150 earbuds. And yet, between the several pairs of $20-$40 Bluetooth earbuds that I mainly use with my phone, when there is no volume being driven through them, it's dead silent. Now, I do not have another pair of IEMs to compare these to, all I have is several pairs of $20-$40 Bluetooth earbuds that you can find in any convenience store/gas station these days. And I know that these devices are in completely different leagues(or at least are supposed to be). But none of the Bluetooth buds have air vents in them.. Is it as simple as I just need some better ear tips? I never had to get fancy 3rd party ear tips with my cheap-o Bluetooth buds.. Do me a favor, put the SM4s in your ears, leave the 3.5mm connector unplugged, and have a fan or something that produces a constant air flow around you, and see if you notice this hissing. Then go into a bathroom or closet or somewhere with no ambient air flow, see if you notice a difference. And then if you have another pair of IEMs that you know do not have any sort of air vents, try that same test with them and see if you notice any difference. While on the subject, do you know what that other hole on the plastic portion of the SM4 body is? It's next to the two-pronged connector port and looks like a little golden washer. Is this another air vent port, or is it an exit/sound port for one of the drivers? Do you know if I were to try to block off these ports/vents/holes with some tape or something(either the 'golden washer' hole or the port on the metal face plate, if that would starve the drivers of any sort of air breathing capacity/fluctuation and then cause them to burst or anything crazy? Aren't the PZT drivers super fragile/sensitive? Nice review writeup BTW! I don't think I've ever read such a thorough review of.. anything!

You just confirmed my decision to order the Alba, thank you. I like the SM4, but you're right, the bass can get a little boomy even though it somehow manages to pull it off. I prefer a less warm, cleaner transition into the midrange. Sounds like the Alba offers that.

The Supermix 4 arrived 3 days ago. Since then, I had been strictly listening to it. Last night, halfway through a song, I pulled the SM4 and in went the CCA Hydro. My honest opinion, the SM4 is a very nice set, it's just not as good as the Hydro. The head-stage is wider, instruments have more definition, the technicalities are just better with the Hydro. I am a Simgot fan boy, I have the EA500, EA500LM, EM6L, and the EA1000. As much as I enjoy the SM4, and feel it has a place in my collection, I do feel the Hydro is a better set sonically.

I've had them for 3 days. I first bought the Simgot Supermix 4, which I returned the next day. Everything sounded very artificial, I didn't like the tone at all, the notes lacked weight and it was too bright. I read that it could be a problem with the power supply but I tried them on a Fiio K5 Pro Ess and on a Kiwi Ears Allegro Mini dac dongle and the result was equally disappointing in both cases. That's why I ordered these Odyssey and the truth is that I've been very impressed with the difference. They're exciting without losing that natural tone that I love. The sound stage, to me personally, seemed very good and the instrumental separation and the image were a delight, I agree with you that it's the best thing about the headset. I also have other headphones like the Sennheiser HD650 and Technics Az100 (for wireless they are amazing), but the Odyssey, although not as natural as the Senns, are more fun without losing as much naturalness and offering a stage and image that is really surprising for an IEM. They cost me €199 and taking into account that the Supermix 4 cost me €174, I think it is a very good quality-price ratio.

If you're working from HD650s, you're already likely in the habit of checking your mixes against other sources, as the 650s are far from a neutral headphone. The same ideology applies to IEMs; while I wouldn't recommend bass cannons, you can work with nearly any set on the market and simply give them the same time you spent with the 650s to learn how the tuning will impact your mix on different reference gear. I've used a few IEMs for mixing (although I prefer over ears and monitors); out of the options you've listed above, the Nova and SM4s will work, but I think they both making better casual listening sets. I would look at a set like the Aful Explorer for your use case. They're slightly flatter across the frequency range, rather than U or V-shaped; bass isn't too emphasized, treble isn't sibilant; very present but not shouty mids. Overall it's a relaxing listen without being too dark, or too warm (no warmer than your Sennheisers).

I know there's a quite a few people who have been waiting for me to finally make this post. I apologize for the delay, I was still waiting for an iem to be delivered. A little background: I've been an fps gamer all my life. I used to play cod semi-profressionally and participated in both online and LAN tournaments for money. The main fps games I play today are apex, cod and siege. Ever since I discovered the audiophile world with studio headphones I was amazed how much better headphones sounded compared to gaming headsets. Fast forward to present day and I am now into IEMs and discovering which ones are the best for gaming. As a disclaimer my thoughts and opinions are my own. I understand there are YouTubers such as Fresh Reviews, Ryan Ho, and Gadgetry Tech that may or may not agree with my takes. So please take my thoughts and opinions with a grain of salt as I am just a chill guy who likes to game competitively. The way I determine if an iem (or headphone) is good for gaming is by 3 main categories: soundstage, imaging, and sound separation. A good and accurate soundstage has good width (x), height (y), and depth (z). Imaging, or stereo imaging, is the spacial perception and ability to perceive the precise placement of sounds. Essentially directional audio. I.e left, right, center, back, top left, etc. Sound separation in a iem or headphone is the ability to pick up different sounds at once without it overlapping each other. So the ability to hear explosions go off, gun shots, gadgets, footsteps, etc without distorting the other sounds. With that being said here's the list of iems that I've tried each with a short review and a rating out of 5 for gaming (3 is usable, anything less is not): CCZ BC01 Pro (1) - way too bassy, bad vertical directional audio. Better options CCZ BC04 Pro (2) - same issue as the BC01 but a much more tolerable bass. Better options Moondrop Chu 2 (1.5) - sound is okay, soundstage felt narrow to me. Imaging was okay. Sound separation was below average. Premium feel and build but I didn't like how heavy they were on my ears. Better options Truthear Gate (2) - sound great but not good for gaming. Narrow soundstage, imaging is okay, below average sound separation. Better options Truthear Zero Red (?) - literally couldn't fit in my ears properly without severe pain. So I couldn't test the IEM and returned it. Will be testing the zero 2 tho Truthear Hexa (4) - comfort is not that good, better than the zero reds tho, soundstage and imaging is okay, sound separation is decent. Also not a fan of how they sound tbh. Too neutral for me Tripowin Vivaci (3) - nearly identical to the zeros 2 in technical performance but I like the zero 2 more in terms of overall sound. And for $5 more you can get the 7Hz G1 which is better than both 7Hz Zero (2.5) - a bit too bright, zero 2 is better 7Hz Zero 2 (3) - average soundstage, decent imaging, below average sound separation. Best $20 iem imo, better options as you continue to go up in price 7Hz G1 (4.5) - a Klean but cheaper with a more fun v-shaped sound signature, get this if you're on a budget 7Hz Sonus (4.5) - the most underrated iem for gaming, great imaging and great soundstage but average sound separation. EW300 is a bit better cuz it has better sound separation Kiwi Ears Canta (3.5) - a bit too bright for most people, good imaging, okay soundstage, below average sound separation Kiwi Ears Quartet (4) - best soundstage imo, super comfy fit, imaging is okay and sound separation is average Kefine Klean (4.5) - a better Delci, better sound separation and arguably better sound signature imo Kefine Delci (4) - good soundstage and imaging, slightly above average sound separation Simgot EW300 (4.5) - nearly endgame but still needs better sound separation. Simgot EM6L (5) - endgame, great soundstage, great imaging, great sound separation. Can't recommend it due to it's nozzle QC issues. Otherwise I probably wouldn't use any other IEM for gaming but this Simgot Supermix 4 (3.5) - not endgame. Might get some hate for this but I was really not impressed by this iem for gaming. It had a narrow soundstage and okay imaging, good sound separation tho. EM6L is way better Other IEMs I am planning to review: ND Planet, Tangzu Waner 2, KZ EDC Pro, Truthear Zero 2 Blue, and Kiwi Ears Airoso Note - in the end I recommend the 7Hz G1, 7Hz Sonus and EW300. The DT 900 Pro X and 770 Pro X are my reference headphones for directional audio for competitive fps games. Those headphones essentially make me feel like I have wall hacks and the iems perform 85-90% as good. The best was definitely the EM6L where I felt nearly no difference in performance with my headphones but I can't recommend it because of the nozzle QC issue. It is an easy fix by super gluing it back on but that shouldn't even happen for an iem worth $110 in the first place. With that being said I will still review iems (and headphones) above and below the respective prices but I feel that you will be perfectly happy with the performance of the iems I recommended. Side Note: I'm currently in the process of building a website with the best gaming peripheral recommendations which includes not only iems but headphones, keyboards, mice, monitors, even pro controllers and more. Hope you all have a blessed day and find this helpful in your purchasing decision!

Both these IEMs are priced at nearly 150USD. The driver configuration is quite different. Alba has a single dynamic driver, whereas the SM4 has 1 DD + 1 BA + 1 Planar + 1 PZT hybrid configuration. While a dynamic and a hybrid have very different flavors to offer, I am still throwing a comparison :). SM4 has more sub-bass, while the mid-bass is nearly comparable with the Alba having just a better mid-bass body. The texture is better on the Alba. Simgot's sub-bass is quite pronounced, and the mid-bass misses a good texture. The bass on Supermix 4 is bit boomy, but not quite shadowing too many details. It is an acceptable level of boomy. In the midrange, while I like both of them, I find Alba to have a better/prefered midrange. Alba's mids are more neutral and not overly warm. Simgot has a warmer midrange, and the bass shelf has little role to play in the midrange. On the Alba, the mids are more forward and closer to ears. The stage is closer to the ears than the one more spread out on the SM4. In the treble region, we have bit of extra energy in the lower treble on the SM4. The treble extends better on the Alba. The details are more crisp and precise on the Alba than on the SM4. Luckily, things are not dark on the SM4 so it brings out good treble details. In terms of fit, I think both of them have a decent size and both fit well. The design and build are quite different. Alba, with its very tiny size, just disappears in the ears and is more comfortable to wear. Which one do I prefer? I like both of them. The tuning on both are really nice and musical in a different way. For some, if they need extra kicks of bass and a warm signature, SM4 is preferable. If someone is looking for a neutral-warmish signature, not very warm/bright, Alba is a solid choice. I cannot deny the fact that Alba is a safer choice.

You’re looking at warm leaning v shape, without the mid range too scooped out (to allow for vocals to be balanced). The SIMGOT EA500LM is a great example of that. Others with similar profile: - Aful Explorer - Simgot Supermix 4 - Kefine Delci AE There are a few iems highly reviewed/rated around $50-70 (Kefine Klean, Tangzu Fudu, Inawaken Dawn) but if your budget wants to spend more closer to $100-150 then there aren’t as many without going to the $200-300-ish range (Kiwi Ears Quintet, Mangird Tea Pro’s etc)

I own the Supermix 4s, this was one of my comments on another post, so I'll paste it here. Hope it helps. I have the SM4, let me break it down for you. They have a great sub-bass extension, but overall are a bright set of iems. That, paired with the fact that they sound incredibly clean, can mean that they start to sound fatiguing after a while, and they definitely seem to lack a bit of musicality and emotion in music. They're a more vocal forward IEM, although due to the nature of Harman tuning mids and vocals can sound slightly thin and lacking weight. I would say that the resolution and technicalities are probably one of, if not the best in the price range. If you're looking for more mid-bass with a warmer, darker character overall these may not be the set for you. If you value sub-bass more and don't mind the much brighter sound, these may be for you. Clarity, as I've said, is really good on these iems.

Bit late to the party but just wanted to add my experience if anyone comes across this helpful tier list. The Simgot em6l vs the Simgot Supermix 4. I had to give the Simgot em6l a try based on your rating and comments. I enjoyed them out of the box leaning towards favoring female vocals. Gaming wise they are phenomenal, just plug and play no EQ needed at all. Now the cons, only tips that would give me a good seal are Comply T-500. Dunu s&s & SpinFit CP145 did not work as I could not get them deep enough for a good seal. I was also concerned over the longevity of the em6l as the known metal barrel coming off. As I forced to run foam tips I could see this happening pretty darn fast. I bought the Supermix 4 and agree with you. The tuning of the em6l out of the box is better for both music and gaming. However, EQ'ing the SM4 really brought them to life. Male vocals now how more depth and weight, the bass can be there if I want it. Gaming its the same story, out of the box I would not rate the SM4 anywhere near the em6l. A bit of EQ'ing and I now have my perfect EFT profile. 100% the fit and comfort & quality of the SM4 is worth the extra for me. Perfect seal with SpinFit CP145 avoiding the tedious at times foam tips. So to sum up, if you want a IEM that you do not want to EQ for both gaming and music at the £100 price mark the em6l is the definite winner. I got my Supermix 4 at only £20 extra. It you do not mind a bit of EQ'ing and would like a bit more bass when needed and superior fit and build quality the SM4 is for you.

Even though the sm4 graph shows alot of sub bass the dip in the mid bass makes it sound faint. The lower midrange pretty important if you want more like "presence" and "weight" to the vocals/instruments. I always felt like sm4 was close to great but its held back by the pzt implementation. Sometimes you get a strong sting of it and it can be good/bad depending on song quality. It can get very fatiguing if you're not used to pzt/planar zing in the higher regions. I think if you like the single dd sound and want to refine it get the fd15. Its a vast improvement over salnotes zero. It sounds more tighter and defined/punchy in the bass. Vocals sounds extremely vivid and musical. The treble is my favorite part of it because it sound airy and sparkly yet non harsh. I would of recommended original moondrop kato (if you can find it 2nd hand or used market) but It might lack some of that treble energy from salnotes zero in exchange for better weight and mid clarity.

I second the Airoso! I have both the supermix 4 and the airoso (I never tried the ke4 so sadly can’t compare that one); for around 80-100 bucks the airoso is a solid purchase!

For me, the airoso is just more “versatile” where everything you throw at it, it sounds great. Honestly couldn’t put them down when I first started using them. Probably the most comfortable IEMs to wear for an extended period of time. The sm4 might beat the airoso on soundstage and details; so if you want to do more critical/analytical listening the sm4 is a better pick. Other than that (especially for a more “musical” approach and the better bass response) the airoso wins it for me

Personally I think the Supermix 4 is over-rated. It has 2 fatal flaws in my opinion (went through 2 sets and gave up). The first flaw is its super slow attack on bass notes. Bass notes are almost slurred into. The second is distinct lack of dynamic range. Listening to the Rain Song by Zeppelin at about the 6:02 mark and Satyam Shivam Sundaram by Thievery Corporation at about the 2:52 mark distinctly show that lack of dynamic range. The Letshuoer S12 PRO is a good option in this price range, but does have tiny bit of that planar metallic sound now and then, but no fatal flaws!

If you are new to iems you wont notice the difference of 1000€’s iem for gaming. Get hexa and sm4. Try them both. I own both, both of them just nice for pinpointing. Sm4 has more fun it’s bassy. Hexa is clear and analytical(or lifeless). But i use dt1990 pro’s for fps gaming mostly. People say hd800s is much better. Idk it’s a rabbit hole really. I was a global elite at cs:go when i was using samsung note 8’s akg earbuds it was around 20$’s. Now i have 500$ headphone but i can’t play it like i used to. Iem’s and headphones are kinda lie for gaming tbh. Go try it yourself. You will see it won’t change much
