As a metalhead I will suggest getting planar iem for the fast transient speed. Something like the Letshuoer S12 Ultra or if he prefer warmer it will be the Sivga Nightingale Pro. These make raw recordings of metal music for some bands more pleasant. Especially old school thrash, black or death metal recorded with lo-fi audio. For non planar I recommend the Xenns Mangird Tea Pro or Top Pro for more air. Very technical and detailed iems.
