The KBEAR Rosefinch is one of the best IEMs I've ever listened to—so much so that I bought another pair. I got them for $15, and for basshead IEM enthusiasts, there's nothing better at that price point; it outperforms many IEMs that cost nearly ten times as much. When I say that, I should point out that I’ve owned about fifty different pairs of IEMs.

Honestly if you're just starting out and on a budget, I'd go with the KZ EDC Pro, as you can usually find it on Aliexpress for about $5 (people often get them for under $1 with the first-purchase discount if they've never used Aliexpress before). As much as [KZ have some issues as a company](/r/iems/comments/1nysozy/kz_castors/ni0lbr4/), their build quality and QC has actually been quite good for the past couple of years. And their IEMs tend to be smaller and more comfortable than most other brands in this space, which is important. The Gate is also very comfortable, but the tuning is a bit wonky, so it's hard to recommend when it costs so much more. The Gate does come with a very good cable though, whereas KZ stock cables are terrible. My recommendation for cables for the EDC Pro is either get a QKZ T1 (usually costs about $3) at the same time, or wait and see if you like the IEM first and if so, buy the upgrade cable later. You may find you want to upgrade the eartips as well (7Hz H07 are a good cheap starting point), because some people hate the stock KZ eartips. They're actually not that bad though, and other people quite like them, so that's just going to be another thing that you won't know until you try, and can't really rely on what other people say. I don't recommend the Zero 2 as a first IEM because personally I don't think it sounds all that good, but more importantly the shell shape is weird and a lot of people find it uncomfortable. Another option if you want to avoid KZ is the Tangzu Wan'er, though it does cost a bit more. I would pick the original over the Wan'er 2, with the caveat that it'll need a cable upgrade (the QKZ T1 fits it too). The Wan'er 2 has quite peaky treble, so is actually a downgrade in sound quality. But there is also the Red Lion edition, which is getting quite good reviews, comes with a better cable (maybe not as good as the Gate but good enough) and also comes with 2 sets of decent premium eartips to try out. I haven't heard the Red Lion myself though, so IDK how it compares, other than that the accessories package is good and the comfort on the Wan'er is generally good (though maybe just a bit behind the Gate and the EDC Pro). The reason for this approach is, there's a good chance whatever you get as your first IEM will be better than nothing, but it might not be exactly what you want. There will probably be some aspect of the tuning that doesn't work for you, but that doesn't mean it's a bad IEM. Trying to find the "best" IEM for you, without being able to hear it (or at least having some baseline for comparison), is a fools errand. This applies no matter what you get, because you won't know your tuning preferences until you've tried at least one IEM. And you can't really compare with headphones either. because of HRTF effects. To put it simply, because IEMs go in your ear canal, they sound slightly different to everyone, because everyone's ears are a different shape (and ears physically change the sound reaching the ear drum). That's why focusing on price and comfort makes more sense than focusing on the tuning, as long as it's broadly competent. Therefore, save as much money as possible for your *second* IEM, and use your first one to figure out what you do and don't like tuning-wise. If possible, experiment a bit with EQ because you should be able to get any IEM to sound roughly the same as any other IEM this way (although you'll never get it exact). BTW, I wouldn't put too much stock in the ranking lists on this sub. They're a good starting point to go looking for reviews, but they're very biased by things like FotM. I also suspect that the latest one is heavily astroturfed, because it's full of IEMs that are so new that literally nobody other than reviewers even has them yet, so there's no way they should be in the top 5 if the votes are real. I think it was the one before that which I remember thinking was actually not a bad top 5, but more often than not they've been *very* skewed with some really weird choices in there. There's been a lot of market manipulation going on in this sub, especially over the last 6 months or so, and it's only continuing to get worse. Probably because there's a very light-touch moderation policy (unlike /r/headphones where they have flat out banned companies like Hidizs for astroturfing).

You have two choices there. You can use EQ on your phone or PC directly, without any special hardware. But that is not possible on iOS or consoles. If you need it to work on iOS then you can get something like the Tanchjim Bunny DSP, which has that. Or you can get something like the Fiio JA11 dongle DAC, which has built-in EQ and you would also be able to use it with any other IEM that you get in the future, as well as having the option to use the IEM with 3.5mm devices, if you have any. But the downside of a dongle is that instead of just one cable, you have two pieces, so there's more things to accidentally come unplugged during use, and it might hang a bit more awkwardly than something all-in-one. EQ is useful to adjust the sound to your preferences. Everyone hears IEMs slightly differently, and everyone has their own preferences. So this is definitely a useful thing. It's just a question of whether you can do it with software or if you need hardware for it.

Yep. I don't use Android, so I'm not the best person to ask about that, but I believe Poweramp and Wavelet are the most popular options. I use EqualizerAPO on Windows. Some people use Peace as a frontend to add some additional features as well, but that's not essential (probably makes it easier to use but I wanted to know exactly what it's doing). Not sure about Linux, but there will definitely be plenty of open source options. Here's [Crinacle explaining EQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsijHAVLbuY) good but it's a bit outdated as it talks about Crinacle's old graph tool which had some features paywalled. He's now moved everything to squig.link. Also here's [Super Review's 4-part series](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJqtExFWE4Y&list=PLeQ8Ry2-4OCRPGxBRCJcKgRouoDO22iz6) that goes a bit more into using squig.link.

You probably want the Red Lion. I haven't heard the Red Lion myself but I have the OG Wan'er and the Wan'er 2. They're quite warm, so good for hip hop, and also quite vocal-forward, which is also good for that sort of music, but should also help with clarity in movies. A lot of bassier IEMs can easily drown out dialogue in film/TV, especially when there are loud sound effects. The other good thing about the Red Lion is it comes with all the accessories you're going to need, so you don't need to worry about buying other stuff. And if you buy a different IEM in the future, it comes with ~$15-worth of premium eartips, that are actually quite good ones that you might well want to use on future IEMs (unlike most stock eartips). The only other one I'd consider is the Bunny DSP - specifically the DSP version - because it has built-in PEQ so you can tweak the tuning to how you want it. But it's not as good as the Red Lion for accessories.

It's the one I'm recommending the most currently, mainly because it's such good value for money. Personally my favourite one around that price is the Chu 2, but for your sort of music and use-case you'll probably prefer the Red Lion tuning. Also the Chu 2 metal shells feel higher quality, but require a bit more maintenance. I don't think you have to worry about sound quality. There are a handful of IEMs in this price bracket that are all well tuned, so which one you prefer is just going to come down to preferences and what sort of music you listen to. People are mostly praising the Red Lion for its accessories because it's such an insanely good package for the price. It's not because it sounds bad, it's just that the Wan'er has been around for years and people already know that it sounds good. But it just went from having the absolute worst accessories in the market to the beating all the competition by a pretty wide margin.

It's a mild v-shape. Very good all-rounder. Slightly cleaner bass and treble than the Wan'er IMO, but not by a lot. The Wan'er has less emphasis on the treble and more emphasis on vocals instead, especially male vocals.

Wan'er build quality isn't great. The tuning is OK if you mainly care about vocals since that's what they do best, but technical performance outside that isn't great. The Wan'er 2 has better accessories but they messed up the tuning a bit, the OG sounds better. The others are all good all-rounders (the Bunny is the only one I don't have, but based on the reviews it's fine, plus it has EQ).

The tuning of the OG Wan'er is better in my opinion and has better details, only downsides is the build quality.

Espectaculares. Tengo en mente estos q reseñas, pero me frena el hecho que sean abiertos.... los uso en transporte público...
