My personal rankings for stuff I've heard. I'm a neutral/neutral bright guy. (My post on reddit goes somewhat in depth on all of these, sadly I'm not very technical in my language) Kotori Audio Zephyr (Duh) Truthear Hexa Tangzu Yu Xuan Ji (might be too bright for some but easily looks the prettiest by a *BIG* margin) Truthear Gate (My current set, would upgrade to one of the options in the list in a few months) Tanchjim 4u (Bang for buck) Truthear x Crinacle blue 2 (tachjim 4u has better value) Aful Magicone (very similar to hexa) Moondrop May (A default starter set for almost everyone regardless of taste.) Letshouer s08 (not my taste, great value, premium for the price) Letshouer dz4 (not my taste, great value) Moondrop Chu 2 (My previous set that are lying around somewhere) Tangzu x hbb Xuan Nv (just because of the fit) Kotori Audio Vampire I'll check out your YouTube!

Iems are a superior form factor for music delivery over buds 100% of the time, the seal allows for actual bass extension and a consistent frequency response, so in all cases yes, id recommend iems over buds. If you want something very well tuned and neutral get 5 more dollars and go for the truthear zero red, if you want something brighter under 50 then the kineras ignitex beast, the simgot ew300 maze and the tangzu yu Xuan hi are also options.

Not sure if these are within budget but the Tangzu YuXuanJi. I never realised I like neutral-ish. The bass is still there but not bloated. The wan’ers are good and enjoyable (I use them at work) but the YuXuanJi are better.

I'd like to join in and suggest the TANGZU Yu Xuan Ji. Currently $50 on Amazon To my ears it's a very vocal forward IEM with a good quality bass when need be. Things, to me, sound wide and it seems to have a decent enough detail retrieval. Female vocals and such are very present. Airy with some sparkle, to my ears, if I were to use the audio words thar reviewers love to use. I wouldn't call the bass punchy but it's not muted at all. It has a light metal shell with a sort of "open back" concept where there's a lot of perforation on the faceplate like open back headphones. The set comes with a decent carry pouch and a nice set of standard silicone tips AND the Tangzu Sancai tips in S, M, L.

I had EW200 which i returned. Now i have TANGZU Yu Xuan Ji , even that was not comfortable, like lightly piercing is what i will call it but that got OK with spinfit cp145 eartips. I was laying with EQ and decided to up the 4-6kHz freq. and thats how i got this response from my ears.

Hi Buck-o u/Buck-O , wanted to ask you some questions! I have TANGZU Yu Xuan Ji and i like them and their tuning. The problem is that i cannot listen to them on mid-voulme for a long time. I had TANGZU Wan'er Jade Green before which i could listen at high volumes, SIMGOT EW200 were too shouty for me. With Yu Xuan Ji, with Spinfit CP145 , i was finally able to listen to them at low volume because it tamed some of the treble ever so slightly that it became tasteful yet detailed for me. I had Kiwi Ears Cadenza but still i like Yu Xuan Ji better, i cannot miss the details on this.Gave the Cadenza to my brother. With all the info above, should i go for Odyssey/TANGZU Nezha/Pilgrim/any other you recommend as an upgrade from Yu Xuan Ji, or rather, what should i go for as i want a better listening experience, with details definitely not missing but also not sibilant or fatiguing on my ears? Also, i have seen many opinions on the sound signature on Yu Xuan Ji, if you know what it definitely is, please do tell.

Same things happened to me.  At first I was going to return the product.  After some burn in it's sound improved a lot.  Now it's my favorite. It's sound is enjoyable in various genre. I am liking it 🤩

The good: Energetic V-shape Very good technical abilities in its tier Gorgeous and premium design (both for the price and in general) Includes Tang Sancai eartips (I think its like 12 bucks on its own) The bad: Vocals lack "body" in some tracks, but plays well with high-pitched singers. Slight brittleness in lower treble region Open-back design doesn't noticeably widen soundstage After Tangzu’s successful entry into the $20 market with the Wan’er, comes their next entry at the $50 price point in the Yu Xuan Ji, another banger release. Its tuning is a bit situational, but does well to highlight the separation and imaging abilities of the driver inside. Add to that a beautifully designed shell, combined with a dynamic driver with excellent technical ability at its price, and the inclusion of the very useful Tang Sancai eartips make for an overall very nice bargain

TLDR: I give these a 7.5/10 with the caveat that you need to like bright IEMs or be willing to use EQ. For comparison, I would give the Etymotic ER2XR a 9/10 and the Tangzu Wan Er a 6/10. I ordered the Tangzu YuXuanJi on their release day and they arrived yesterday (10/6/24). Now that I have had some time to listen to them, I wanted to update with a review for anyone on the fence about buying. As far as my credentials, I consider myself somewhat of an audiophile but am certainly not a headphone reviewer. I am fairly inexperienced in the IEM space and so I would weight my review lightly in any purchasing decision. I just thought it would be helpful since there are no existing reviews that I can find. If you would like to see more visual information, my unboxing video is here: https://youtu.be/fTqMo0GIkZI?si=OWipX8U2cKQhpGDR I was attracted to these due to their advertised open-back (or "semi" open back) design, their visual style, and Tangzu's reputation for budget IEMs. I love open-back headphones and find my Hifiman Edition XS and KSC75 to be my favorites. I figured that open back IEMs would suit me for the same reasons. I ordered the limited silver color direct from Tangzu and also received their IEM stand and cable wrap as a bonus. I believe the silver color will be exclusive to Tangzu in the initial release period, and I think the bonus gifts were first-come-first served and are already gone based on their social media. Shipping from Tangzu was quick, 9 days. My source is Qobuz, through a Samsung phone into a Questyle M12. I am using Spinfit W1 eartips since they fit me better than the stock tips. I am comparing them to devices I have available: Tangzu Wan er, Etymotic ER2XR, Galaxy Buds2 Pro, Shure E4, Koss KSC75, and Hifiman Edition XS. Test tracks included: -Yosi Horikawa, Bubbles -The Carpenters, Mr. Guder -Average White Band, Cut the Cake -Daft Punk, Get Lucky -Steely Dan, Jack of Speed -Max Richter, Spring 1 -Porter Robinson, Russian Roulette The build and feel in hand is better than any other IEM I have tried. They are heavy compared to most IEMs, so they may be prone to fall out with activity or if you have a poor fit. I have not had issues with that myself. They look great, almost like jewelry. Many people may prefer the black version coming out later. The accessories are also nice. It came with six pairs of tips, three of two different varieties. The cable feels nice but I only saw 4.4mm and type C as options when ordering. I prefer 3.5mm and that is what most of my equipment uses. They use a flush 2-pin connection so the Wan er cable and KZ bluetooth earhooks will not fit this by default. They are advertised as 0.78. It came with a little bag as well. I like the bag but find it to be a little bit small for these IEMs with cable. On first listen, I was impressed by the detail retrieval compared to the Wan ers. I initially thought that they might be more revealing than my Etymotics. After listening a while, I realized that these IEMs are just bright. The brightness initially fees like additional resolution. After some comparisons and longer listening, it became clear that they are not more resolving than the Etymotic, but are more resolving than the Wan er. I found myself hearing details that I usually only hear on higher end systems. For example, I can discern that the triangle hits in the beginning of Mr. Guder are not uniform. Songs such as Cut the Cake were pretty underwhelming because the driving bassline is so far back with this bright tuning. Music like Spring 1 sounded great due to the violin emphasis. Get Lucky was underwhelming due to the lack of bass. I do not have measuring equipment to know how they measure, but I used the Neutralizer app to get a rough approximation. It uses a hearing test to set an EQ that should make the headphones neutral. Theoretically, the inverse of the EQ should be the measurement of the IEMs, but again, it is very rough. The EQ graph is in the photos of the post. The bass is a few db lower than flat and probably 4-5db lower than many people's preference. The bass and sub bass are tight and handle EQ well (unlike the KSC75, which struggle to produce low bass even with EQ). My biggest disappointment with these IEMs is the open back or semi-open back advertising. While that may be technically true, it does not shine through in a meaningful fashion. They isolate about 90% as well as my Wan ers and 75% as well as my Etymotics. I can play these relatively loud within a few feet of someone and they can barely hear anything. I love the open and airy nature of the KSC75 and Hifiman Edition XS and was hoping for something similar here. Even being semi open-back, I did not find the imaging or soundstage to be meaningfully better than my other IEMs. If anything, I would describe the stage as being wider than my Etymotics, but with the accuracy of imaging being worse than the Etymotics. I was hoping for these to become dedicated gaming IEMs but I have not yet tried them for that purpose. If you are someone who already uses EQ or you like bright IEMs, I think these are an easy recommendation at $49.99. A little extra bass really helps these shine, and the build quality is substantially better than any other IEM I have felt or used. I think this is a meaningful upgrade to the Wan er, but their sound signatures are so different that it may not be the best comparison. The Etymotic ER2XR are a better comparison. The Etymotic are more effortless, less sibilant, and have more bass. If they were the same price and you can tolerate the Etymotic tips, I still think the ER2XR is the better sounding IEM. I would give the YuJaunXi a 7.5/10 with EQ. They fit in really respectably at their price-point but their tuning will turn off many buyers.

I don't think it will allow me to edit the text of the review, but after another two hours of listening today something has shifted. I am not sure if the drivers broke in, if my ears broke in, or if I just got a better seal this session, but the bass is substantially improved. I would go as far as to say that I do not feel the need for EQ anymore. Tracks like Flight of the Cosmic Hippo (Bela Fleck) and Limit to Your Love (James Blake) are now filled with heavy bass. The difference is substantial. I look forward to seeing some more professional reviews to see what others think.

Yeah, wish I had better input for you guys. I remain really happy with these. Would definitely buy them again. I have been using them with my bluetooth earhooks as well as through the amp. They sound great in both ways and are convenient with the earhooks for shopping or yard work.

Tangzu Yu Xuan Ji. Couldn't get a proper fit no matter what I tried and without bass to balance out that high end, I just about felt like a flashbang had gone off next to my ear

I just got this and yes its definitely a v shape. The subbass is there but the midbass is a bit lacking, the vocals also take a step back imo compared to the highs. It's pretty fun except the vocal for me.

The Zero red are solid, do be warned the nozzle size are very large on them, so if your ear canals are a bit on the medium to smaller end they can get very uncomfortable. They do have really good Bass and sub-bass, but in terms of detail retrieval, especially in the upper end they're not as good as some other options. They still are a very solid pick though Simgot EW300 - $56 on sale w/ amazon prime, and are an incredible IEM for that price. Has 2 nozzles with a bit different tuning. ($56 version is the one with the 3.5mm cable) Tangzu YuXuanJi - $50, but not on amazon so you'd have to wait for shipping Kefine Klean - $49 on amazon, and some other places The apple dongle (as long as it's the US version, EU version is under powered) would drive any of these without issue.

well you haven't specified your tastes but I am gonna probably buy the simgot ew300 dsp(or the simgot ea500 dsp) so probably look between them. Simgot are a really trusted brand with a good image so simgot should be safe. I have bought 2 iems before the tangzu waner and the yu xuan ji they both kinda sucked since they don't have bass. These simgots are an all rounder. If you can increase your budget even a little buy the aful explorer. It all depends on personal preference, I personally prefer the Yu Xuan Ji as I prefer its balanced tuning. But I am sensitive to bass which is probably another reason that I prefer them. The Zero Reds I found to have a more developed bass sound with good treble but I was hoping for more mid clarity. The IgniteX I personally don’t have any experience with but after a quick search it seems that they have a sizeable V-Shaped curve with a punchy bass. I have seen some people say that the IgniteX’s treble was a bit too bright for them. Again, all of this is personal preference and based on the music you listen to. You can’t go wrong with any of these options, but to the vast majority of people I think the Zero Reds are going to be their choice!
