TRUTHEAR - Orca

They're great. The switches change the sound in a noticeable way so you can tune it up to a more treble-oriented (DUU) or bassy sound (DUD), as well as a warmer sound like the Tangzu Warner (UUD) or a more energic V-shaped sound like the Zero 2s (UDU). I have small ear canals too and they were very comfortable. The issue I had was the condensation. The first week they worked great but after that, the right side started to sound quieter. I cleaned the filter and stored them with a silica pack for a while then they worked great again but after 15 minutes of using them the right side started to sound quieter again... and after a long period the left side too, making them unusable. I asked for a refund, and now I'm waiting for the KZ Libra X to arrive. So keep in mind that if you live in a humid country.

I bought mine (ND planet) a few days ago so I'm waiting it to arrive the next week maybe?, the Orca is very capable in technicalities, but is not better than the V10 pro in this aspect, ZVX pro is a beast in technicalities maybe trading blows with the Vader HighRes (but the Vader is just in another league, is almost 90% of the CCA Hydro), maybe on pair with the V90 pro and Nightelf, and the ZSN pro 2 is perhaps the only on pair with the Orcas, but with a little more stage and imaging. Btw, i love my Orcas, and i hate my mt5, i know I'm crazy but whatevs ahaha. Cheers mate!

No, the MT5 is a brighter IEM and it has less bass and mid-bass. I prefer the Orca but for people who like a neutral-bright signature the MT5 might worth a try. I didn't like the face plate too, the white markings can be erased with acetone a Q-tip and a little patience.

You can check in my profile, i have a kinda Review on them. I also have the Waner, and i can give you some impressions and compare if you want more insight. First of all, if you either get the type-c version or pair them with a dongle DAC, they will win a boost on resolution and cleanliness, there would be basically no difference in overall technical performance vs iems of the likes of Waner and Zero 2, without amplfication tho, they do feel a bit less resolutive. As other person say, they do quite change the sound With switches, my favorite picks a are ("U" means Upwards switch and "D" Means downwards switch): DDU For a similar tuning to the Chu2, UDU for a V-shaped and DUD for a bass canon (works better with amplfication and eartips that push the vocals foward). The bulld quality is fine but do take in mime that the paint will wear off sooner or later. and i have small ear canals and i didnt find that much problems with the fit of the IEM or with the included eartips, but thats pretty personal. its a bit more punchy than waner in the bass, but a slightly bit more intense in the treble, but just by a tiny bit More. i definitely would recomend them, but do consider that its better to get if you plan to test the switch configs quite a bit, its a jack of all trades, but a master of none.

iems do help with that, but for that to happend you need a good fit and thats a very specific thing to find with iems since each person has a different ear, you might wanna check TWS (True Wireless earphones) better. And so, just to clarify this out before recomending anything, being recomended based on "noise reduction" in iems is the equivalent of walking into a shoe store and ask for shoes your size without trying them on, nor saying what size you are. Now, you either can go the safe-ish route or the VERY safe route. the just safe route is getting a small nozzle size iem (the nozzle is the part of the iems that directly into your ears) and try them to see if the fit well enought with stock eartips, and then decide if you need tips (for example: Moondrop Chu2 for cheap and TRN Orca for super cheap. Now, this should work for most people, but there are a few that have an ear canal big enought to not be able to fit small nozzles properly (the fit is too loose), so, if you fear that... The next best is to pick a very cheap iem with a decent size nozzle (like the Tangzu Waner - Not too big, not too small) and pick some generally good fitting tips like spinfit W1, Dunu S&S and maybe moondrop Spring tips (or just search/ask here for some examples) to pair With your iems to see what fits better. its your call, but i personally would recomend to just pick a pair of Space Travel ($25 TWS) and use the ANC (Active Noise Cancelation) functionality and be done with it.

Not sure what you need to hear for drumming, however, i have: Orca, Waner, Castor bass and QKZxHBB, if you want me to try/check anything, just tell me. btw, from these 4, i personally find the bass on the waner to be the most satisfying one in terms of quality, seconded by the castor bass, but could be too much, on the other hand, orca is good, but you likely want to use some amplifcation with them to get the best put of them, and QKZxHBB is more of a rumbly bass than packing too much punch, but irs a great replay of sound nontheless.

TRN Orca: is dirt cheap stock and can get even cheaper on a sale, the tuning switches can actually give you quite a variety of tunings from somewhat bright to clearly bassy (while most tuning switches iems usually dont change that much in the style of sound), and the build quality is actually not that bad for a $15 or less iem, it even comes with a single pair of aftermarket TRN Eartips, which, while not the best, is still quite notable when the only other ones that do that is Waner 2 and Chu OG but neither do it at this lower of a price and with detachable cables... for now at least. it also competes without problem up to even some $30 iems when is properly powered (despite being cheap, it benefits from a bit of amplfication from a dongle DAC).

just to be clear, some tunings do feel repetitive, you need to play with the siwtches quite a bit, and some of those sound profiles arent officially considered by TRN themselves as switch configs xd.

for me they get somewhat closer to Cadenza's tuning on some configs, not sure if they are better but i do like them More than (when i had) cadenza.

is worth a try for sure, but i am not sure if you will get like inmediatly wowed, is a versatile cheap iem, really worth as a beater that you wont care much to lose/damage. is just a very friendly entrance to the hobby on a sale.

Usually recommended over the Zero Red for gaming, from the less bassy picks in the bassy section. You should consider using a dongle DAC if the sound is too quiet with them. If you happend to have fitting problems, check the Spinfit CP155 eartips, could help a lot, but those tips get streched kinda easy and can fall out of the nozzle, so do take in mind. As far as technical performance goes it is decent for its price range (which is around $40) but the best part is that it is like a less intense Simgot ew200, it might have an edge over them technically speaking, but the tuning of the luna doesn’t make it too obvious. The biggest upside are the accessories it comes with, is like an upgrade combo of a nice interchangeable connections cable, some decent eartips and a metal box, that comes with some extra iems included. The thing with the Conch is that it comes with interchangable nozzles, but just 1 of the 3 is useable for most people, the red nozzle, as the other 2 have a pretty forward and intense treble. The Conch has a V-shaped kind of sound, its somewhat similar to the ew200 but with more presence on the bass, which packs good punch, rumble and texture, and its also pretty clean; vocals are just fine, not that natural sounding iem, but also not bad; the treble Is energetic with some peaks of intensity, not the most refined but not super harsh, so your mileage may vary, just dont pick them if you are sensitive to treble. It works fairly well for rock genres. The nozzle is on the smaller size, however, because of the weird shape of the shell of the iem, its possible that the fit wont be the best for you, since its like a bullet style earphone, with just a cylindrical weight at the end that has very little support in the ear, so, keeping them in while moving too much could be a problem. Sonus Is said to have pretty good technical performance that is above its price range, however, the biggest downside it might had is that the sound could not be as "cohesive" as it should because of the dual driver implementation, that means that some parts of the sound around upper mids and treble might sound somewhat slightly separated from the lower mids and bass, most people don’t find this as a glaring problemm but you are warned. Of course, bass is reduced, but around the same as the Zero Original, this would be more like a direct upgrade, and should work well for gaming. Also, there aren’t many KZ or CCA options here because there are already some better options for similar tunings. Besides, KZ and CCA accesories and quality control is not from the best, and they have had other problems in the past like possible silent revisions of iems (changing drivers or tunings without prior notice) so they dont give me enough trust to recommend them so easily. I have Klean, have used Cadenza And Zero Blue Original, and stock, none are that great for what you specifically want. That said, if you are planing on EQ, i really think Klean would be the pick here, however, that is as long as you dont live on a humid city since klean struggles with humidity a lot, you can always use silica gel packs when storing them but still... If you do live in a humid country, and are planing to EQ, ill recomend either the Sgor Luna for safe-ish overall pick after the Klean (which you could possibly even like stock) and specially because you can get it bundled with a dongle dac if you need type-c conection... Or the Truthear Zero Blue 2* as long as you either use it always with EQ, or with the impedance adapter on, and as long as it is in your price range on your country of course. Also, a warning that, if you know you have small ear canals, those can be a but uncomfortable since they have quire a large nozzle, they are the smallest nozzle one from all 3 Truthear Zero models, but still quite larger than average fitting size IEMs like Waner. So yeah, Thats about it for stock $50usd-ish picks, i must say that there are other (on paper) pretty overall good options like T10 but i am not mentioning them because for your specific use case they could be "problematic". Now, my next best pick, if you want to save money, want a similar tuning to the Klean minus the possible humidity struggles and with a more overall good fitting nozzle size than most other iems, there is the Tripowin Vivace, I have both Klean and Vivace, and Vivace is basically a "mini-Klean", and overall small but notable downgrade, but still quite good performing. specially $20 cheaper for like 70% of the performance. i personally cant recomend cadenza because i found it significantly shouty, and if for me Waner was OK shoutiness-wise, then you'll have Higher risks with it, Klean could also feel a bit shouty tho, but given you will be using EQ, it also has better bass performance than Cadenza so is still the better pick even if more expensive, and for $5 less than cadenza you vivace anyway. Waner 2 also seems to be a very good option so far if you want cheap and with good accesories, but is still a fairly new iem tho, With EQ it likely would do better given than original waner is a beast for EQ, but dont really expect a performance upgrade with that one tho. They are great - have always recommended them in their price / class range. They're con is the shell paint job. and arriving at a time when zero, chus, waner were in Vogue. The newer MT5 is 95% I'm sure is the Orca with 111 switches config same LCP driver same shell sans switches. I learned later the orca is the MT3 shell with the new (at the time) LCP driver with switches.

So I just got the Orcas delivered yesterday. I have about 3 hours of using them so I can’t speak on them in depth. 3 hours is an initial impression. They are very comfortable. I had to tip roll to get the right fit but that’s with many IEM’s for me. The thing I do not like about it is the nozzle is smooth, there is no little lip to help hold the tips on. Until I found the right tip I had quite a few come off and stick in my ear. I am not a switch person, this is my 3rd IEM with switches and it’s been 1 month since buying an IEM with switches, can’t compare the switch abilities to other IEM’s. However, the Orca has 6 sound settings and YES, the switches actually change up the sound to either a slightly noticeable to a VERY noticeable change. A couple sound close to each other and a couple are obviously different sounding. The Atmosphere Enhancement is the best sounding one to me. I can’t speak on soundstage or separation or anything like that. 3hrs isn’t enough and I was woodworking so I wasn’t paying attention to the music in a critical listening kind of way. It definitely did not sound bad or lacking anything, but it wasn’t like “Holy Shit the soundstage is amazing”. I paid $12usd for them and for an entry level IEM they are pretty damn good. I rarely use stock tips and cables so I don’t even know if they are good, I never opened them up to try them. At this price stock accessories are always shit so I don’t bother. The IEM’s themselves and the genuinely different, 6 sound settings makes the Orcas worth it IMO.
