"It plays everything well and especially older and thinner recordings sound much better than Harman tuned iems because it has more body in the mids."
"It's a great cross-genre set"

"Again, I am shocked at how good this little device is for the price. ... One EQ filter to kill the length mode resonance and it becomes as good as my beloved HD 650."

"Letter sounds perfectly realistic on my 65$ Pure..."

"I really do like the S&S tips but at times I wonder if the bass is boosted too much, but then again it's a flavor of sound I really like. Warm, gooey, honey like."
"The bass of the Pure is full, textured and impactful, but not overly boosted, and it does not mask any aspects of the midrange. The lower midrange is elevated, providing warmth and "Richness" to various midrange overtones, and then the upper midrange is not shouty or too forward, but still provides great clarity."
"The Pure sounds so natural, I’ve never heard such detailed and natural travel in an IEM"

"If you like Hexa but found bass to be a turn off, pure has much, much better bass quality."
"It has a very natural tonality with great bass, hefty mids and clean, non-fatiguing treble."
"The bass performance really fits my ears. it's not too much, it's not less, it's just the right amount for me."

"The fit can also be a problem since the nozzle is quite huge(6.3 mm), so that's one thing you should consider too. ... Yeah eartips really matter a lot for this IEM cuz of the big nozzle sizes ... Just know that the pure might not be the most comfortable IEM for you tho, so getting the eartips right part is really important and tricky. Even after all of this I only have like Maxx of 4-6 hours before it's starting to get uncomfortable(this is more of about small ear canal issues tho, if the hexa comfort is fine for you.....then I think the pure will fit just right)"
"I wish they were a tad smaller. ... the only reason I’m considering others is because they feel so much better in my ears."
"the only thing that I don't like is they made the shell a bit big"

"6 say it's overly warm, possibly even muddy. ... The keyword here is "warm" not neutral. ... also in the "too warm" camp. ... "warm, slightly muddy" ... just some initial impressions, but he's in the "very warm" camp, but stops short of muddy. ... Oof, just finished watching it and it's basically the complete opposite take to Andy's. Keyword is "warm". According to the transcript, he says the word "warm" 69 times! (nice) Overall rating of 3/5. He says it lacks midrange clarity and is only for people who like warm/relaxed tunings. ... I'm not excited about the Pure...and I think Axel's take is going to be the first of many "meh" reviews. ... Where reviewers disagree is on whether the Pure is on the slightly warmer side of flat neutral like an HD650, or flat-out over-warm & muddy-sounding. ... In the running tally I've been updating in the OP, I've broadly categorised the reviews into "warm-neutral like HD650" (good) or "over-warm and muddy" (bad). Those are not the same thing at all and right now it's somewhere in the 40-50% range who say it's over-warm and muddy sounding. ... Zeos mainly focuses on soundstage, but since his review was negative and he calls them "veiled", I'm counting that in the "mud" column. One way or another it clearly doesn't work for him."
"interesting take, puts it in the "muddy" camp at low volume, but says it works better at higher volume, which might explain some of the discrepancies between other reviewers."
"the Truthear Pure which is more of a warm, down-tilted tuning"

"Same here I was using them for gaming I had all the truth ears up to the xenns iems for competitive fps. Then I got super lucky found a brand new sealed Astro a40 with the mixamp like a month ago bought it for $300 and i will never go back to iems like ever ever"

"No. The Pure isn’t accurate at all. It has a very warm tilt that will make you think your tracks have more low-end than they really have."
"The Pure can sound a little muddy in the lower mids some times. ... Its just not that fast or articulate on the bass front"
"Another great option is the Truthear Pure which I also own, and whilst they’re great for vocalists, they don’t have the sparkle and bass response that I love with the EW300."
The explorer is a good choice but if you want to keep the separation and clear delineation between sounds the truthear pure might be better for u
r/iems • Upgrading from Truthear Zero: Blue — Is AFUL Explorer a Good Next Step? ->I won both the Hexa and the Pure. I love the Pure a bit more than the Hexa. Why? The bass performance really fits my ears. it's not too much, it's not less, it's just the right amount for me. The treble is also more pleasing for me. It's so perfect for my ears, the only thing that I don't like is they made the shell a bit big, but it fits my ears and its confortable just like the Hexa.
r/iems • Do any of you not like the Truthear Pures? ->I own the Hexa and now own a Pure. The Hexa is bright sounding. More detailed, wide soundstage, balanced, and fast bass performance. It's a smooth but lean sounding set. I love both sets, I've been using my Pure with the W1, and it still doesn't disappoint.
r/iems • Impressions/Review of the Truthear Pure from an IEM noob ->I suggest going for the Truthear Pure instead. The Hexa is tuned neutral and has less bass than what you might used to.
r/iems • Truthear Hexa as first IEM? ->Tanchjim Bunny under 50usd Truthear Pure or Hexa (depends on preferred tilt) under 100usd.
r/iems • Best Neutral IEM For Every Price Point? ->Depends on what you consider neutral, I would say the truthear Hexa or Truthear Pure are currently the closest iems to that, which is a tilted DF.
r/iems • Returning to this hobby after ~20 Years, Need recommendations for a neutral iem with good detail/ separation/ imaging, 300$ ->Alright so everybody here has an opinion, most of them based on "trust me bro". There is a bunch of ~20usd iems, all of them having very similar tuning (tuning is ALL that matters in the sound of earphones/headphones). A lot of them, because they are cheap, come with bad cables that break over time (cables are usually the nost fragile thing on this stuff). Thus I would recommend the Truthear Gate, it comes with a cable that is far better than even cables that vome with iems costing 5x the price. Under 100usd, I would recommend the the Truthear Pure. It is tuned to be what we call neutral now (jm1 and -1db/Oct. Tilt), leaning a bit warm. KZ is... questionable. Some praise it for its price to performance, others hate it. What we are certain about is that they do not sound *objecitevly* correct, not even close to it sometimes. On top of that, they got questionable QC... and marketing practices (paying reviewers, silent revisions for the worse...) 7hz Salnotes Zero:2 - is a good option with a solid tuning, but many find it uncomfortable. Edit: The moondrop chu2 is also a solid option, but I would still go for the Gate.
r/ipod • Best Earbuds For iPod ->Many peolle here are saying it will be an improvement. It will be, but mainly with music. Airpods, or the wired earpods are already decent enough (also improvements in this hobby are exaggerated because people are perfectionists). Because you spend long hours with things in your ears, Id rather go for something thats more comfortable. If you want them for a quiet enviroment Id check out the legendary koss porta pros, or the koss kph30i. These are excellent cheap headphones. For iems, around 20$ I would choose the Truthear because of its excellent cable, under 100$ it would be the truthear pure as they are well tuned. I wouldnt buy a more expensive iem as your first.
r/iems • Would a normal user like IEMs? ->I didn't realize how big the nozzles were on the Hexa until I was fitting tips on. They just looked odd. I got them in my ears (no fit issues, yay genetics) then I looked up the size. I was quite surprised! Interesting tuning (per Axel's measurements) I'm not so sure about the Pure. I'm past the point of just picking the "next best thing" I don't find the Hexa boring...in fact, it's refreshing among all the various "shaped" IEMs. The neutral (w/a slight bass boost) definitely struck the right balance for me.
r/iems • First Truthear Pure review is out ->yeah...seems Truthear steered completely away from the Hexa DNA. Sometimes, listening to the community isn't always the best choice. I remember so many reviews while talking up about the Hexa will still say "some might call this set boring" That bit gets echoed by everyone... I'm sure I've done it myself. TBH, with a little EQ...the Hexa can be exciting. I'm not excited about the Pure...and I think Axel's take is going to be the first of many "meh" reviews.
r/iems • First Truthear Pure review is out ->I like them but I also have the same issues as you Truthear essentially did 2 things with hexa to make pure; actually one thing; they've tilted the whole fr but this is related to 2 aspects; every frequency below 500hz is boosted; I LOVE this approach, but everything above the 2 k was also reduced, that I dont love. Hexa had the perfect upper treble for me, pure is too relaxed.
r/iems • Do any of you not like the Truthear Pures? ->Pure's a good pick, especially since you want neutral but with a bit more body. Bass is also more present compared to the Hexa. Haven't heard of magicone myself, but graph suggestes the treble may be a bit spicy? Explorer is also pretty good when I listened to them, though I went with the Pure between the two for my warm-leaning set. I'd probably wait a bit to see what the Moondrop LAN II brings, since apparently there's going to be 2 versions (reference and pop). If you found the Hexa to be thin, the Zero Blue:2 is probably not for you (I have and enjoy it, but it's not really what I'd call neutral and the mids are pretty thin). One more set that I would recommend is the Juzear Defiant. It's not neutral, but it's fun and balanced. From my main 4 sets (Juzear Defiant, Truthear Pure, Hexa, Zero Blue 2), it's the set that's easiest to recommend to someone that doesn't know their preference (though my favorite is still the Pure/Hexa).
r/iems • Neutral IEM Recommendation ->I have both, but I'm not sure how I can help without knowing more of what type of sound you prefer (since they are VERY different). The specs aren't really as important as that. I can give some goods and bads of each one, but at the end it will depend on your sound preferences. Zero Blue 2: +Really nice sub bass rumble, and comes with a bass adapter to further boost the bass thump +Overall sound "feels" more spacious, because of the thinner mids and brighter treble +Has a mic variant that comes with both a mic and non-mic cable -Vocals can sound a bit thin and shouty -VERY source dependent (don't plug it straight to your PC, a cheap dongle like the Jcally JM6 Pro is good enough) -Treble can be sharp depending on your tolerances and eartip choice (included foam eartips or aftermarket deep-insert silicone eartips may be preferred to balance it) Pure: +Balanced warm-neutral tuning that's very nice to listen to for long periods +Natural sounding vocals and bass +Very safe treble while still being detailed -Sense of space is more intimate because of the warm-leaning tuning -May be "boring" because the bass and treble isn't overemphasized Between these two, I'd choose the zero blue 2 if you lean into competitive FPS gaming or aim for the bass. Otherwise, I find the Pure to be a safer choice for music. There are also a bunch of other options in the price range though, which may be better suited for you (again, depending on your preferences)
r/iems • Looking between two Truthear IEMS for gaming and music ->Yes, Pure is also a good choice at a lower budget.
r/iems • Is the simgot ew300 for long listening? ->Don't listen to that dude. The Pure and the Hexa are not "the same thing", they have completely different timbre. They are very similar, but they are nowhere near the same. I wish people who didn't own both sets would stop talking as if they do. I personally would avoid the Pure. I think that while the tuning timbre is different between them, the energy levels are close enough to the same, in that they share a similar sound energy profile, that you may have the same ear gain issues, even with the de-emphasized treble. Because the peak energy is in the same spot. So consider that, and look at alternatives mentioned above. And as someone else mentioned, tip roll, tip roll, tip roll, absolute requirement to get more tips and test with them. It can dramatically change the ear gain modes in the ear, and dampen or eliminate ear gain entirely. People do not put near enough emphasis on ear tips, but they are THAT important.
r/iems • Truthear Hexa felt a bit too sharp and fatiguing, looking for smoother and more natural IEMs ->The Hexa is a bit more Bright and Vocal Forward, where the Pure is more Relaxed, and offers a warmer presentation of sound, with less emphasis on texture and sharpness. THat isnt to say it isnt detailed, its just not as in your face as the Hexa is with some of the more nuanced things in a mix. The Pure also does produce more bass, and it is noticeable. The Hexa doesnt lack bass, as some people will imply, but the Pure can sound a little muddy in the lower mids some times. Its just not that fast or articulate on the bass front, and neither is the Hexa. But for the majority of people in this price point, its more than fine, and adequate. I personally lean towards the Hexa a little more than the Pure, but neither are "bad" and neither is really "worse" than another. They are simply two flavors of the same thing. Ones a little more sweet, ones a little more savory.
r/iems • Has anyone one A/B tested Truthear Haxa and Pure? 'Cause I'm confused AF. ->Don't like the faceplate. The tuning is warmer JM-1. If you want to experience "Meta" tuning under 100 dollars, it could be it. https://preview.redd.it/ag3qya0frt8f1.png?width=2400&format=png&auto=webp&s=262e18863e8a70720ea88b0040fe7fd81cad828a
r/iems • Truthear Pure Coming Soon ->And it's warmer than Hexa, so. It's still valid https://preview.redd.it/2lve8gi77u8f1.png?width=2400&format=png&auto=webp&s=6e658b40478556bb9ab92ee8c756c654c138e743 .
r/iems • Truthear Pure Coming Soon ->Exactly why I am not impressed with it. If it didn't have that much of a dip, I would consider it. https://preview.redd.it/bphqcan8mu8f1.png?width=2400&format=png&auto=webp&s=bc742423a90b3bb5864746dc032758640c32b9b6 It looks different on B&K 5128.
r/iems • Truthear Pure Coming Soon ->I too cannot stand my S12 Pro. They sound like hearing damage. Awful. Try the Truthear Pure. I also have the Volume S but prefer the Pure. Stock sound is very good, but if you can apply parametric EQ you can also try -2db at 200 Hz with a Q of 2.0 to give the low end a bit of separation.
r/iems • Pls recommend an iem for someone who absolutely hates the lethshuor s12 pro. ->Got the Pures. Vastly preferred to Hexa. Still not my favorite ever, but I will actually reach for them. The Hexas will continue to rot until they sell.
r/iems • Truthear Pure Coming Soon ->The truthear pure, nothing even touches it until many times it's price.
r/iems • What IEMs (under $100) would be best for instrumental music like Nujabes? ->Honestly, try warm tunnings. Maybe the truthear Pure. I really enjoy warm tunnings when I EQ my IEMS to classic rock. I always feels like it gives the track the body it's missing.
r/iems • Best IEMs to enjoy Pink Floyd? ->Bought the Xuan NV and 7hz Sonus just now. I know those others you mentioned and have those, ie Pure, Hexa, Bunny and Lush and those definitely fit in camp neutral. Going to roll the dice but since you've been spot-on with the others I'll take a chance on the Sonus and Xuan NV :P Thank you for the recommendations! :P
r/iems • Best Neutral IEM For Every Price Point? ->Sure thing. I’ll go over the IEMs in different price ranges. My **TLDR** is you shouldn’t get an IEM for your purposes. Instead, go on Drop and order the HD6xx for $179. It’ll help you much more than any IEM (though it’ll be a bit bulkier), but this is more of a sure-thing for you. With that out of the way, let’s talk about some of the IEMs that have been recommended. Let's start with the **Truthear Hexa**. I wouldn't trust these for critical work—at least, not for finding problems. They are "neutral" in the sense that everything sounds balanced, but they aren’t what I'd call "truthful." They smooth everything over. If you're editing voiceovers or cross-checking mixes, you need something that will truthfully tell you **EXACTLY** how everything sounds—sibilance, plosives, muffled audio, harsh microphones, and phasing issues. The Hexa won't do that. The **Etymotic** will. I've heard people make parallels of the Hexa to the HD600 or HD6xx, and it's an inaccurate comparison. The Hexa is closer to something like the Adam H200, where the definition of "neutral" is muting everything out. Nothing is too bassy, nothing is too harsh. This might be what some people want for music, but the issue is they aren't truthful. If you check for sibilance on a highly sibilant track, they won't reveal it to you. If you trust the Hexa, your final product will have flaws you couldn’t hear. I actually made a review of the Adam H200 where I felt it failed. It's not accurate. But it's also not enjoyable because it dulls everything down. That's kinda what the Hexa does. **That said, a quick clarification on the Hexa.** While it's not the "truth," it's not useless for mixing. If you can get your mix to sound clean and well-balanced on the Hexa, you're probably in good shape for how your track will sound on most consumer gear. It's not a tool for **finding** problems, but for making sure your **fixes** sound right to the average person. But then that raises another question: Does that mean the **Etymotic ER series** is great for mixing? Imo it's great for editing. Not good for mixing. Etys reveal flaws really well, but they don’t give the most trustworthy picture of a full mix. Why? They have no soundstage. From my experience editing voiceover, I’d notice they couldn’t detect issues with people's booths, specifically the acoustics around the microphone. This also means they aren’t very good for things like gaming because they lack soundstage. I talk about the differences between editing voiceover and making a mix as well as a bunch of neutral iems[ here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wCo3puZnXc). What about the **Truthear Pure**? No. The Pure isn’t accurate at all. It has a very warm tilt that will make you think your tracks have more low-end than they really have. What about all the IEMs that are the **'new Meta'**? No. These aren't accurate either. They are conformed to a frequency response where most people find music enjoyable—a new Harman target. Ironically, not only is this target not 'neutral' for critical listening, but it also doesn't even sound good. Sounds bleh. Let's get back to the playbook. What would I recommend? I'd actually say the **Moondrop Blessing 2**. Not the Dusk version. I have the Blessing 2 Dusk and the Crinacle Dusk. Neither of these two are accurate. **A quick point on the Blessing 2.** While I recommended them, they aren't perfectly accurate. They're intentionally a little harsh. They aren't the "truth" but rather a tool for finding problems—a "bug-finder," if you will. The original Blessing 2 reminds me of the Sony MDR-7506 with a lot more soundstage. Why is the 7506 so common in studios despite sounding like shit? Because it reveals every flaw in your recording. Studios don’t use the Sony MDR-7506 because it sounds “nice” — they use it because it’s brutally revealing. The joke among audio engineers is if you make it sound good on a 7506 it'll sound good on everything. The Blessing 2, with the default tips, will make you hear sibilance in soundtracks. You need something to tell you where the problems are. The issue with the Crinacle Dusk is that it rolls off the highs and hides flaws. That's great for musicality, but not for critical listening. **TLDR:** Don’t get an IEM for your purpose. Buy the HD6xx. **TLDR 2:** If you have to get an IEM, get the Blessing 2 or Softears Studio4. And cross-check with an ER2xr. For anyone else who cares more about more along the lines of enjoyment for Neutral, this path in this video (not made by me) may be what you prefer instead:https://youtu.be/N2zobPxqd1E?t=395
r/iems • Best Neutral IEM For Every Price Point? ->I actually agree with you. They're on the brighter side. From tests with only the IEMs I currently have: They have less bass than the Moondrop Blessing 2. They have less bass than the Etymotic ER2xr. They have less bass than the Sennheiser IE200. While it's not MDR 7506 bright, I hated the sound of it. Just not enough bass and I"m no bass-head. I returned it. That said I very much enjoyed the Truthear Pure (recently released by the same company) much more than the Hexa. People who hated the Hexa (people like me) will likely like the Pure a lot more.
r/iems • Best Balanced/Neutral IEM? ->Zigaat Lush with Moondrop Spring Tips (large) is basically an HD600 for my ears. Even when I monitor with it — speaking into a mic and listening back — it’s dead-on with my voice. Crinacle Dusk (analogue mode) also sits right in that HD600 zone. ======================= Random and slightly crazy thought: grab a neutral mic like a RODE NT1 4th Gen or Austrian OC818, then monitor your voice through different IEMs. It’s kind of a trip — one will sound thin and bright, another warm, another exactly like you. I swear it lines up with their tonal balance The Truthear Pure with Tang Sancai balanced bore (green for me) is pretty close to Hd600 too. Don't use the stock eartips though. It's mud with stock eartips.
r/iems • What would be the IEM of the HD600/650? ->I feel like this is the cycle of Hexa. Cycle 1: Hi! I'd like a neutral sounding IEM. Cycle 2: (parrots) HEXA! (buys Hexa) Cycle 3: Oh no. I don't like Hexa. Cycle 4: Halp. I need another IEM. So a few alternatives to check out: \- You might like the Truthear Pure much better. Just use Tang Sancai balanced eartips with it \- You should check out the Zigaat Lush. A warm neutral sound. If you pair it with Moondrop spring tips it sounds really nice. Since you mentioned you have the Senn HD600, you'll feel right at home. When people say the Hexa is like an HD600, I actually don't agree with them and say that (this, the Lush) is closer to the HD600. \-You might like Explorer. It's a chill and sit back kinda IEM \-You might like the Celest Pandamon 2.0. It's currently about $9. It won't wow you right away but over time it grows on you. It's kinda like how the Explorer is. I recommend pairing it with Kiwi ears flex eartips since it really works well with the Pandamon 2.0.
r/iems • Truthear Hexa felt a bit too sharp and fatiguing, looking for smoother and more natural IEMs ->It's pretty close with Moondrop spring tips (Large) imo :D. Definitely far far closer than Hexa for dang sure.
r/iems • Truthear Hexa felt a bit too sharp and fatiguing, looking for smoother and more natural IEMs ->Sure thing! Right after Listener’s comment, I literally put both on just now :D Both the Pure (with Tang Sancai tips) and Lush (with Moondrop Spring tips) get much closer to the HD600 than the Hexa. I did a silly test — grabbed a mic, spoke into it, and switched between the headphones to hear how my own voice playback compared to the 600s. Started with the HD600, then tried the Pure and Lush — and honestly, both got pretty close. The Hexa though? Heck no. It sounded like I was talking through a scraggly RØDE NT1-A, haha. TL;DR: Both are way closer to the HD600 than the Hexa.
r/iems • Truthear Hexa felt a bit too sharp and fatiguing, looking for smoother and more natural IEMs ->Thieaudio Legacy 2. Bear in mind that there's barely any accepted definition of neutral in headphones, and even less so in IEMs because the sound varies from person to person based on ear anatomy. Most of the bass-boosted new-meta IEMs released so far (KE4 and so on) sound either muddy or veiled to a lot of people, including the Truthear Pure which is more of a warm, down-tilted tuning, but some would also consider it neutral. The Legacy 2 is a bit older so doesn't follow that style of tuning, but it's not quite Harman either (which some consider v-shaped or u-shaped), it's closer to what most people subjectively say is quite neutral (mostly) and unlike the Hexa which has no bass, the L2 has slightly boosted sub-bass. The Simgot EM6L is also within the bounds of what some would call neutral, but it's bassier than the L2 and maybe a mild v-shape. Another neutral-ish option is the Dunu Titan S, which is a bit warmer and more vocal-forward. There's also the Aful Explorer which is quite L-shaped so I wouldn't really call it neutral, but it might fall within what you're actually looking for. It has more of a bass boost, but it's quite clean bass that doesn't muddying up everything else. But I do find vocals on it sound a bit recessed.
r/iems • Neutral with Bass Boosted IEM recommendations? ->The stripes remind me of a heatsink more than anything Adidas-related. Of course, you could do a 3-stripe mod with some Tippex if your concern is that they aren't Adidas-like enough 😀 The Pure looks like it might be the closest to actually hitting JM-1, although it's still a slightly different take on that tuning. No IEM has yet hit the target exactly without some significant deviations, even the Mega5EST. It's interesting to [look at them both on the 5128](https://graph.hangout.audio/iem/5128/?share=JM-1_Target,Pure_\(Narrow\),Mega5-EST_\(Narrow_bore\)&bass=8&tilt=0&treble=-4&ear=0) to see that they both deviate by about the same amount, but in the complete opposite direction. Also, try normalising the graph at 2300Hz (can't put that in a link). You need to click the ∿ symbol next to the target to show it as a flat line instead of raw; that doesn't come across in the direct link either.
r/iems • First Truthear Pure review is out ->One interesting thing about the measurements is how different they look [on Axel's 711 rig](https://atechreviews.squig.link/?share=%CE%94_JM-1_DF_10dB_Tilt_Target,Truthear_Pure,Hisenior_Mega5est_7th_Anniversary_Edition) compared to [Crinacle's 5128 measurements](https://graph.hangout.audio/iem/5128/?share=JM-1_Target,Pure_\(Narrow\),Mega5-EST_\(Narrow_bore\)&bass=8&tilt=0&treble=-4&ear=0) (I copied the same link I posted in another comment about JM-1 and comparison with the Mega5EST) The measurement relative to JM-1 shows relatively low bass overall, but with a peculiar and quite significant bump of around 3dB from about 130Hz to 400Hz, so right in the midbass. On Axel's rig it looks like a much more linear bass slope that starts adding bass below 400Hz, but keeps going all the way down to zero with most of the emphasis being on the sub-bass rather than the midbass. It's not just that the measurements are different (which you'd expect on different rigs) it's that the location of the bass emphasis is completely different. Also interestingly, if you ignore the JM-1 target and use the Mega5EST as the target (click the ∿ next to it so it turns into a flat line) then the shape of the graph looks roughly the same on both rigs. So it seems that the "true" measurement is basically low sub-bass, a big mid-bass boost, then a gradual down-slope into the treble. So quite warm, not neutral. Like Axel described it. I do wonder how tip-sensitive that ends up being. I find that the bass levels & quality on the Hexa is quite tip-dependent. The big thing that annoys me is that I can't experiment with tip-rolling as much as with other IEMs, because there's only one tip that makes them comfortable enough for me to listen to them for more than a few minutes. The Pure should at least reopen that possibility.
r/iems • First Truthear Pure review is out ->It sounds like you EQ'd out the pinna gain, so that's not flat neutral, that's a weird dark/veiled v-shape of some sort. If it works for you it works, I guess. It probably won't translate to anyone else though. What you want isn't *flat*, but tilted diffuse-field adjusted to *your* HRTF. The "new meta" target curve, JM-1, is that, but using a population average HRTF since it's not possible to know anyone's individual HRTF. This is explained here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZoKPtzjdtQ The Truthear Hexa is sort of JM-1 tuned (by accident) and the Pure (aka Hexa 2) is deliberately JM-1 tuned, but warmed up slightly. There is a lot of disagreement about whether either of them actually sounds neutral, presumably because everyone has a different HRTF. The Pure has smoother treble so is probably a better base for EQ, although probably not really any better than the Zero Red if you're going to drastically change the tuning anyway, since they both seem to have about the same treble extension. If a completely ruler flat line with a down-slope sounds OK to you then you probably have a much lower pinna gain than average. It should have a sort of underwater sound, to most people.
r/headphones • -0.5db per octave tilted Flat frequency response for IEMs. ->Hey, thanks man! I’m avoiding reviews for the next week or so but I’m enjoying it a lot so far. Since Andy’s review is out I guess I can talk about it a little. I wasn’t informed of any sort of embargo. I always thought some people found the original Hexa boring because the low end didn’t have enough punch. I’ve always considered it a more analytical set personally. The pure adds a lot of musicality and warmth by bringing up the midbass and lower midrange, basically flattening out the scoop of the original. I find it more exciting and engaging than the Hexa while still retaining a fairly neutral sound. I’ve been against aggressive midbass scoops since day 1, so the Pure is absolving the Hexa of one of its original sins. I definitely prefer it, but I’m still listening. Hoping to have the full review out next weekend, there’s a few ahead of it on the docket.
r/iems • First Truthear Pure review is out ->Howdy y’all! I’m super excited, the Truthear Pure just got here so I did a quick unboxing. I can’t tell you much about how it sounds yet, but I wanted to share this while I work on the full review. I posted the full unboxing to my channel, link here: https://youtu.be/ySltMu8L2YA?si=fDWBDHW0mAI7Qxz2 And a huge thanks to Shenzhen Audio for the review copy. Y’all are the best. Thanks for reading and/or watching, talk to ya soon!
r/iems • Truthear Pure Unboxing! (album + video) ->Thank you bro! I can say this: I’m listening right now and in this moment, I’m one very happy dude. This is a great set.
r/iems • Truthear Pure Unboxing! (album + video) ->I really liked what Truthear did with Pure.
r/iems • What's the best IEM release of 2025? ->I have had them for a few weeks, I loved them at first, but the more I have listened to them, the more I have EQ'd them in different ways, the more I just really don't like them. Vocals are just not at all satisfying to me, they are too warm and not well defined, almost like a thin sheet is over them, it's really odd and seems different than what others have experienced. Everything else sounds fine in them, but vocals just do not sound good to me. Does anyone have any other suggestions in this price range that might be more satisfying?
r/iems • Do any of you not like the Truthear Pures? ->The pure might be better for you, it takes a bit to get used to it, akin to drinking coffee for the first time, the more you use it the more you will appreciate and love it. But the truthear pure has neutral-warm sounds signature which means that some people will find it muddy and some will appreciate its laid back and fullness nature( tho for me pairing it with bright sounding eartips is enough to "fix" the muddiness, not to mention the pure is really easy to EQ) The fit can also be a problem since the nozzle is quite huge(6.3 mm), so that's one thing you should consider too. However I think truthear pure is still a really good IEM, like it far better than Simgot ew300 or the tangzu Xuan NV.
r/iems • Truthear Hexa felt a bit too sharp and fatiguing, looking for smoother and more natural IEMs ->Yeah eartips really matter a lot for this IEM cuz of the big nozzle sizes, I spend like idk 20 dollars on eartips alone? Lol, it's worth it tho. One thing to note when you are wearing Truthear pure is that it's angled slightly different compared to most IEM, so you have to twist a bit backwards that way the lower part of the Shell rest in your ears( this is very important!). As for eartips i have actually talk about this before so I will just copy paste my comments, gudluck on your findings ! Hope you find the right one. My comments about eartips: >* **Shanling SE100:** Probably the best eartips in my collection, they sound too good even. The bass is kind of lacking(Even though the bass quantity is somewhat lacking, the overall *quality* of the bass is superb. Very clean, tidy and tight imo), the soundstage is quite wide( widest in my eartips collection too) and the treble performance is really good. The sound signature is a bit bright, but I think it pairs well with the Pure. They can be a great fit if you are comfortable with 11-12-13mm sizes. However, do note that they have metal core at the center. People have reported that these metal tips often feel loose and have a big risk of falling into your ear canal. My unit doesn't have this issue at all, but please note that while they are very good eartips, they are also potentially dangerous. >* **Final Type E:** The worst eartips for the Pure. They make the sound a bit too muddy for me. >* **Divinus Velvet (Wide Bore):** Sounds pretty good, decent soundstage, good bass, decent treble, etc.....but sadly, the material is not compatible with my skin. >* **Feaulle Latex H570:** All around very good, in my opinion. The best eartips for the Pure(most comfortable for me too), a bit bright but again pairs really well with the pure. >Now, I haven't really tried other eartips, such as the Dunu Candy or SednaEarfit Xelastec 1/2, but both of them should be really good on the Pure. The Dunu Candy is probably the most comfortable one though (Super Review really likes it a lot too) >Overall, I think if you want comfort, go for the Dunu Candy. For all around good sound and comfort, go for the H570. For sound quality only, go for the Shanling SE100. All of them should pair really well with the Pure. (For more information, check the list at: \[ [https://www.audioreviews.org/guide-to-iem-silicone-eartips/](https://www.audioreviews.org/guide-to-iem-silicone-eartips/) } >My advice is to try to get the smallest eartips possible and see how they fit, because it turns out 9.8mm is the perfect size for me. Also, materials like silicone, wide bore type, metal core eartips, and bright leaning eartips probably work the best for pure imo >edit: forgot to add **Tangzu Tang Sancai Noble Liquid Silicone** : Which is a very good eartips for the pure too, really recommend this one. Personally i find it not fit great for my ear and kind of hurts, but it might fit your ears better since a lot of people do love them.
r/iems • Truthear Hexa felt a bit too sharp and fatiguing, looking for smoother and more natural IEMs ->No worries! Just know that the pure might not be the most comfortable IEM for you tho, so getting the eartips right part is really important and tricky. Even after all of this I only have like Maxx of 4-6 hours before it's starting to get uncomfortable(this is more of about small ear canal issues tho, if the hexa comfort is fine for you.....then I think the pure will fit just right) Also do you know that super reviews actually like this better than the meta, crinear day break, EPZ p50 and more? He even said that it will probably become his most listened to IEM in coming years. But I think I'm getting ahead of myself for hyping the pure this much lol..... it's a matter of personal taste too after all. (Also if you're by chance looking for a DAC too, I'd recommend Snowsky melody/Trn black pearl/EPZ TP35 pro)
r/iems • Truthear Hexa felt a bit too sharp and fatiguing, looking for smoother and more natural IEMs ->He actually did talk about it but just in a different video and in a very small section of it too(conclusion part). And honestly idk if he like the pure more than the hexa or not, one thing for sure the pure has grown a lot on him. Link: https://youtu.be/8UIbygQgga8
r/iems • Truthear Hexa felt a bit too sharp and fatiguing, looking for smoother and more natural IEMs ->I have the sennheiser ones and they are great for everything like games and music BUT I find them fatiguing as I prefer a warmer audio and this ones are "clear" or sharp however you'd describe so I find i get tired of listening to things after a while and go back to my over the ears. I recently got the truth ear pures and they are amazing still very very detailed but softer on the high-end making it easy for longer listening but there is a bit of lack in over all depth compared to my open backs or my ie200s
r/iems • I need advice 🙏🙏 ->Oh no.......I want them 😭 But already have 20 iems lmfao
r/iems • Truthear Pure Unboxing! (album + video) ->I guess.. lol Would you say these are bassy iems or not?
r/iems • Truthear Pure Unboxing! (album + video) ->I hate you, I bought them 💀
r/iems • Truthear Pure Unboxing! (album + video) ->I didn't have the hexa and they were on my radar originally, so when I saw that it was in theory the successor to the hexa, I was even more interested and your post made me buy it, even with no review yet haha
r/iems • Truthear Pure Unboxing! (album + video) ->shouldn't get truthear pure if you have hexa. it's literally hexa with a low shelf. get a dac with peq and it's literally the same thing instead of wasting money.
r/iems • Truthear Hexa felt a bit too sharp and fatiguing, looking for smoother and more natural IEMs ->a low shelf will mean a boost to all frequencies below 800 including bass (or same as just pulling all upper frequencies down), so a shift in tonal balance from neutral-bright to warmish. ofc you can adjust it for your liking. i suggested it since this is pretty much 1:1 what the truthear pure is, a hexa with a low shelf. np.
r/iems • Truthear Hexa felt a bit too sharp and fatiguing, looking for smoother and more natural IEMs ->I have Sennheiser HD600, HD660S2 and Truthear Pure (planning to buy HD650 too). And I can tell that Truthear Pure is pretty enjoyable for me who's daily using HD660S2. No shoutiness and sibilance presented.
r/iems • Impressions/Review of the Truthear Pure from an IEM noob ->These are what I feel are the best at their respective price points for 2025 releases(though older releases may be the best overall). Only included what I've tried, so there may be better out there. Bang for buck: Truthear Pure/Plunge Audio Unity Dynamic/Yu9 Que Best bass quality: Dita Mecha Best vocals: Letshuoer Mystic 8, Tanchjim Nora Best treble quality: Moondrop Meteor Most musical: ISN EST80 Most lifelike: Dita Mecha Disappointment: Craftears Omnium Ti, not because it's bad, just that midrange is too pushed back for my liking. Volk Audio Etoille- driver flex🥲 sounds great tho.
r/iems • Comment best 2025 IEMs please? Which are you excited for? ->https://preview.redd.it/5jlnujj0n7hf1.png?width=2400&format=png&auto=webp&s=28ccf843055d25c753330a58a88ec73bf6fee081 This is what I came up with. The treble region is not accurate on graph so I tweaked it a little by ear to try and get it closer to Hexa. Even so, there were a few differences comparing the EQ'ed Pure to the Hexa. I no longer have the Hexa, sold it earlier this year, so this is going off auditory memory which is not the most reliable, but I have spent a few months with the Hexa and I can still remember what stood out to me. Sancai standard eartips were used on both and the shape is similar so hopefully I reduced variables due to different insertion depth. Starting with the bass, there is still decent midbass impact despite EQing down the bass. I do think the driver is different, remember the Hexa midbass was oddly weak. Peak at 3kHz and 8kHz feel more smoothed out and less shouty/piercing so either different BA's or better implementation, but it does sound less incisive than the Hexa so pick your poison. Treble in general felt much smoother than the Hexa which had somewhat grainy treble to me. Personally, I like a little more grain in the treble than what I hear in the Pure, gives a more lifelike sound to me. More of a preference thing how smooth you like your treble. Soundstage was still smaller than Hexa but most likely a fault of limitation 2. Overall I feel like Pure EQ'ed to the Hexa was better than the actual Hexa for my tastes. **Potential limitations** 1. Worth noting that unit variation is a thing and my Hexa might just have had more mid and treble energy than the one graphed here. 2. Treble is the hardest part to dial in and I don't EQ much, not very good at it. I suspect the grainy sound can be reintroduced by tweaking the air region. EQ: ~~Preamp: -7.2 dB~~ ~~Filter 1: ON PK Fc 20 Hz Gain -1.3 dB Q 1.700~~ ~~Filter 2: ON PK Fc 44 Hz Gain -3.6 dB Q 0.500~~ ~~Filter 3: ON PK Fc 53 Hz Gain 1.3 dB Q 1.000~~ ~~Filter 4: ON PK Fc 140 Hz Gain -0.8 dB Q 2.000~~ ~~Filter 5: ON PK Fc 260 Hz Gain -1.7 dB Q 0.600~~ ~~Filter 6: ON PK Fc 2300 Hz Gain 1.7 dB Q 0.700~~ ~~Filter 7: ON PK Fc 4600 Hz Gain -1.8 dB Q 2.000~~ ~~Filter 8: ON PK Fc 10000 Hz Gain 2.0 dB Q 0.500~~ ~~Filter 9: ON PK Fc 10000 Hz Gain -4.9 dB Q 6.000~~ ~~Filter 10: ON HSC Fc 12000 Hz Gain 5.0 dB Q 1.000~~ ~~Filter 11: ON PK Fc 12000 Hz Gain 3.0 dB Q 3.000~~ Use u/Thunderjohn 's EQ then tweak the treble. This EQ was my attempt at imitating Hexa's sound but the treble is gonna be too different person to person so not very helpful
r/iems • Impressions/Review of the Truthear Pure from an IEM noob ->That makes sense, I just added filters 9,10 and 11 by ear on top of the auto EQ to get it closer to the Hexa sound, but maybe I could have done more with less.
r/iems • Impressions/Review of the Truthear Pure from an IEM noob ->truthear pure! tried it recently & absolutely loved it. i also have the ziigaat crescent right now but i prefer the tuning of pure over it. now im just waiting to try the crinear daybreak.
r/iems • What's your favorite IEM under $50-$150? ->Could you please send your EQ settings? I also have the Pure and really liked it.
r/iems • Impressions/Review of the Truthear Pure from an IEM noob ->Yes, and a significantly different curve above 10k, with just a single peak in the 12-13k range that’s much narrower than what the hexa has going on. But it may roll off more gently in that top octave than the hexa topping out and crashing 20dB from 16k - the energy under the curve is more consistent in the Pure, which may make the Pure sound “louder” or just brighter to offset the added lows and low mids. I suspect when factoring in fletcher-Munson, this will be a *very* nice addition to the herd.
r/iems • Truthear Pure Coming Soon ->demoed a few "fan fav" iems (tea pro, quatio, fission, volume s, cadenza 4) at the store and no joke pure is my 2nd fav behind cadenza4. imo treble is where most iem failed to make it right, treble on the pure is excellent.
r/iems • Impressions/Review of the Truthear Pure from an IEM noob ->Letter sounds perfectly realistic on my 65$ Pure... Just saying...
r/iems • Difference between cheap and expensive iems ->If you’re torn between the **Tipsy M1 and Truthear Pure**, here’s my quick take after trying both — mostly for guitar practice and some light gaming. **Tipsy M1:** warm and smooth, great build for the price. Has that rich, slightly bassy sound that gives guitar tones more body. **Truthear Pure:** cleaner and more neutral, kinda “set and forget” tuning. Good clarity but not as much punch or warmth. For **electric guitar**, I’d say the M1 feels more alive — chords sound thicker and a bit more natural. For **casual gaming**, both are fine, but the Pure gives slightly clearer mids and highs if you care about positional stuff. Still, the M1 is just more fun overall. Both are solid for under \~$100 CAD, but personally I’d lean M1 if you want something musical and easy to enjoy.
r/iems • IEM for electric guitar and casual gaming under $100CAD ->Unfortunately I bought them before knowing who was involved with the tuning. As expected, I didn't like them at all. The MagicOne or Hexa could be what you're looking for, or some single dd from Moondrop.
r/iems • Do any of you not like the Truthear Pures? ->Good choice if you want to be disappointed.
r/iems • Upgrading from AirPods Pro 2 to IEMs - Need Advice ->Yeah, I've bought it out of curiosity. To me it sounds like a boxy muffled mess, with a slight hint of sibilance/metallic sound in some instances. I've never tried the Hexa, but since people seem to like it a lot, honestly I'd just stick to that one over this, or the aful magicone as an alternative.
r/iems • Upgrading from AirPods Pro 2 to IEMs - Need Advice ->I try to EQ Hexa to Pure. Cannot say I like it.
r/iems • Truthear Pure Unboxing! (album + video) ->Nice collection lol looks so cute and nice 🔥 I dont really have any good suggestions for you apart from the Aria 2, but based on measurements and stuff it seems that the 3.5 mm May has an extremely similar sound to the Aria 2, so if you're looking for something like that, that'd be my bet lol I dont really know too much about other stuff but im hearing good stuff about the Juzears Defiant and the Letshuor S08. Some Simgot stuff is doing the rounds as well I personally would have chosen from 3, the Truthear Pure, Juzears Defiant or the Aful Explorer. The Pure graphs in a cool way and i'd have been interested in trying it out, the Defiant is basically what i'd say the "best" overall, cant really go wrong with it whereas the Explorer is what i'd have wanted if i wanted something mellow. Each with their strengths and weaknesses and stuff but since im quite open to eq, i'd just get the Pure or the Defiant and EQ em down. I personally am the kind of guy to save up for a little while and then use some ONE thing for a long time, for example my Aria which i used for 2-3 years. So if i were looking for things in different price points it'd go like this : Zero:2>Moondrop May>Truthear Pure/Juzear Defiant>Aful P7/Ziigaat Odyssey>Kiwi Ears Astral/DUSK (what i have rn)>Mega5EST So if i were in your situation i'd have saved up for a P7 and just eq'd stuff. I'm curious tho, how do the ARTTI sound? How is the treble/timbre? And how are the technicalities? I think they'll be more technical than most iems under 150 dollars but others will give better timbre. Not too sure tho.
r/inearfidelity • My small collection + recommend me a new iem ! ->oh yeah the pure are a bit wonky, that's why i recommended the Defiant, i highly doubt you're gonna regret going for them IF you're open to eq. Just eq up the bass if needed and you're good to go. And dang the T10s sound nice! Hmm, im not too sure but i went through something similar with my DUSK. Basically, there's 2 versions of the app, one available on Moondrop's website and the other in playstore. Try using one or the other, i'd recommend the website one if you cant see your device as you can select the product from there by yourself. REALLY annoying! But hey man if it works it works lmao
r/inearfidelity • My small collection + recommend me a new iem ! ->Looks perfect for my tastes - warm, a bit down in the peak of the ear gain... Beautiful.
r/iems • Truthear Pure Coming Soon ->Nice review and I do find it somewhat similar to an HD650 in iem form. What tips did you use? I have the Truthear Pure and none of the stock tips fit for me, I have really wide ear canals. Both the Spinfit CP145's and Dunu S&S both seem to work well with different flavors, with the CP145's striking a nice cleaner balance, and the S&S's sounding like the iems are connected to a tube amp with lovely tone and excellent body while sounding a tad less clean (still delicious and smooth). I think I prefer the S&S tips the most out of what I have. Didn't like the Dunu Candy tips (mids too hot/shouty for my ears at higher volumes, and not good allrounders on other types of media, still sounds really nice at lower volumes, could be fit), and Spinfit CP100 (slight sibilance/harshness). I hear there are other tips that sound good (Sancai, Spinfit W1, & Azla sednaearfit), but I am yet to try them. Love these iems, super smooth and natural sounding
r/iems • Impressions/Review of the Truthear Pure from an IEM noob ->Definitely the Truthear Pure. £79 on Hangout. They'll be with you in about a week. Or the new Daybreak, but I have no direct experience with them. And I sound like a Crin shill...
r/iems • Neutral with Bass Boosted IEM recommendations? ->Pure > Hexa if you'd like something with fuller bass while still retaining a "neutral" signature
r/iems • Moondrop Chu 2 and Truthear Hexa Review ->Neither did I. Too thin. But I love the Pure!
r/iems • Moondrop Chu 2 and Truthear Hexa Review ->I have 6 sets of IEMs, including a pair over $220USD, and the Truthear Pure are my favorite of them.
r/iems • IEM recommendations under 10000 INR / $120 USD ->I would buy the cheapest starting point you can—like a Truthear GATe for $20-25—and then use that to gauge your taste, and then from there you can upgrade to a set between $50-$150 once you've figured out what exactly you like. In over-ear headphones, the most oft-recommended "blind purchase" option under $200 is the Sennheiser HD 6XX, which is a warm-neutral option that, while perhaps not the most "exciting", is the least likely to be heard as outright *wrong* for your music. I think the closest analogs we have to this headphone in the IEM sphere are the Truthear Pure and Hexa, the former being warmer, the latter being brighter. Personally I think the Pure is the safer option, especially if a lot of the music you're listening to has real instruments. That said, I'd still recommend trying GATe first to get a sense of your taste for treble with a fairly safe option. If you are willing to take a chance and spend a little bit more than Pure/Hexa—which I will reiterate, I *don't recommend before you've got a sense of your taste*—the CrinEar Daybreak is a more "fun" IEM with extra bass and treble that doesn't destroy the naturalness of midrange elements like guitars, snare drums, and vocals. I'd just not recommend it as a first IEM considering $170 is a lot of money.
r/iems • New to IEMS help me decide on the best pair under $200 ->I'm biased because I tuned it but Truthear Pure, despite being a bit too warm, is the closest I've heard because its one of the rare IEMs that has solid bass and midrange while not being excessively bright for me. Tbh I feel like people throw around the term neutral far too much when it comes to IEMs; people often ascribe that term to sets that are "spectrally even" between bass mids and treble, where one no region has an obvious overall bias, instead of IEMs that are actually "neutral" in these ranges. Supernova is a good example, I wouldn't say its midrange or treble are neutral at all in isolation, but I think it has a lot of enjoyers because people find its overall tilt to be reasonably even-keeled, with no region overpowering the others in terms of overall bias.
r/iems • The literal best neutral iem ->Most of my electronic music library is dubstep and DnB, and I personally love the Hexa for these tracks. The Truthear Pure sounds great as well but isn't as bright in the treble, which I feel helps a lot for DnB to bring out some clarity in hi-hats and breaks. It's a more "natural" and less analytical sounding set than the Hexa though, which a lot of people prefer. I've stuck with the Hexa and have it EQ'd with a bit more bass. The Simgot EW300 (using the included Silver/Red nozzle) would be a fine option as well, if you don't want to use EQ. The HBB variant of the EW300 is just a re-coloured version in black with the same tuning and same swappable nozzles, so you can choose either of the two variants depending on what is more aesthetic to you.
r/iems • Truthear Hexa as first IEM? ->Have all 3. T10 is the one with most extension in both ends. It's the most airy and technically capable, but can sound lean or metallic sometimes. Explorer is straight up warm, very easy going specially in vocals, it lacks the air but it makes it up with very good timbre. Pure have a neutral-warmish signature, but for me it sounds dull and I have to eq a little bit to give a little more flavor to the sound.
r/iems • Aful Explorer - Definitely my best purchase ever. ->Truthear Pure, but that shape is abominable.
r/iems • Neutral with Bass Boosted IEM recommendations? ->Truthear Pure for warm neutral and non fatiguing hours of listening.
r/iems • I’m NOT looking for a good budget IEM. ->I was worried about the angles as well, but somehow they turned out really comfortable, at least on my ears, ymmv of course.
r/iems • I’m NOT looking for a good budget IEM. ->It will be a big improvement over the TRN. As for my experience, it's one of the smoothest iems in the market, the smoothest at this price, check the graphs, it's fairly obvious. It has a very natural tonality with great bass, hefty mids and clean, non-fatiguing treble. It plays everything well and especially older and thinner recordings sound much better than Harman tuned iems because it has more body in the mids. I couldn't be happier. Regardless the price, there are not many iems in the market as smooth as Pure.
r/iems • I’m NOT looking for a good budget IEM. ->Truthear Pure + ( Compact Fiio JA11, Value TRN Black Pearl ) Dongle
r/iems • Any IEM recommendations below 70$? ->As are the Truthear Pures
r/iems • Is the simgot ew300 for long listening? ->If you’re talking USD I think you’ll enjoy the EW300. They’re my daily driver at present. Another great option is the Truthear Pure which I also own, and whilst they’re great for vocalists, they don’t have the sparkle and bass response that I love with the EW300.
r/iems • Simgot ew300 vs Kiwi ears cadenza, which is better to enjoy music? ->Very easy to resist. Like c'mon. Just go with an actually viable choice..if you want a heavy hitter multi driver buy the Aful Performer P5+2 for 250. Sub 50 dollars? Just buy one of the many IEMs that have proved themselves time and time again, IE: Moondrop Chu 2, Tangzu Wa'ner, 7hz Zero, Truthear zero, Truthear Gate, etc. If you want a good tribrid for still pretty cheap get the Simgot EW300. (80 bucks) If you want a good 1DD+3BA hybrid for pretty cheap, get the Truthear Hexa or Truthear Pure. (80 bucks) More drivers doesn't mean better, and in lower price brackets it more often than not means that they have sacrificed actual performance for having "better specs" and more flashy marketing.
r/iems • How can you resist 1DD 8BA for $30? ->Agreed, used hexa since release, pure is way better
r/iems • Truthear Hexa as first IEM? ->Truthear Hexa at 80-90$ ; Truthear Pure (warm-neutral) at 100$ ; Tangzu Xuan Nv at 70-80$ ; 7hz Sonus at 50$ ; Tanchjim bunny dsp at 20$ ; Zigaat lush (warm neutral )at 180$;
r/iems • Best Neutral IEM For Every Price Point? ->Hexa for monitoring, Pure if you want to enjoy the music
r/iems • Has anyone one A/B tested Truthear Haxa and Pure? 'Cause I'm confused AF. ->It was truthear Hexa before but after i tried the truthear pure i have to say pure
r/iems • What's your favorite IEM under $50-$150? ->Yea, I was hyped for this one since my Blessing 2 Dusk has a crack in the shell. But it looks too dark for me. Less treble and more midbass than JM-1 even switching it to tilt which I slightly prefer over Crin's bass/treble adjustments. I guess good sound is good sound so I'll probably get the Hexa if my B2D gets worse.
r/iems • Truthear Pure Coming Soon ->Truthear PURE. Basically warm neutral with bass lift. If you want to follow the meta target and you still want a bit of added bass, Kiwi Ears KE4.
r/iems • Neutral with Bass Boosted IEM recommendations? ->Best value? Given that I haven't tried the T10 (only the T10 Pro, which are fine), I cannot speak about them but many consider them the pinnacle of budget planars. Here's my (personal) value picks list from 0 to 150$ more or less (will also mention one planar for each bracket): 1. KZ ZVX Pro: it's just impossible to beat these, you can buy them for like 5$ at AliExpress with some coupons or welcome deals and you get all metal build, a well tuned set with decent technicalities for the price and something that, although not breaking the bank, will last long and you won't give a frick you somehow lose them since they cost like a cup of coffee. 2. Under 50: my favourite in terms of signature is the CCA Trio in the UUUU (or 1111) switches config, whereas the EW200 are what I would buy for a bit more resolution. The SGOR Luna and PRX are options as well, but they have some tonal quirks that may not appeal to you. 3. Under 100$: Juzear x Z Reviews Defiant for a versatile, punchy and tight set, Truthear HEXA for resolution, a neutral bright tonality and detail retrieval, Truthear PURE for a neutral/warm set with pretty thick lower end and non-fatiguing treble. Planars? Well, yeah, the F1 Pro for NiceHCK is very solid but it has a tinge of metallic timbre in the treble (other than that, it's SUPER solid). 4. Under 150$: Kefine Quatio for a thick and warm hybrid set with good technical chops, Tanchjim Fission for the best single DD experience and technicalities in this price range, along with an excellent neutral tuning (and some fine tuning thanks to the nozzle filters and bass screw). And then there are also many other sets that are worth a mention, such as the Wan'er S.G. II, the Kefine Klean, the Dunu Titan S2 and Kima 2, the Moondrop May, the AFUL Explorer... So many choices out there nowadays.
r/iems • What are some of the most value for money IEM's? ->https://preview.redd.it/5folm0g7wx8f1.png?width=1380&format=png&auto=webp&s=cd7bbc370eb170c92cbdb5ac9c1ba8b7b582c0e5 The channel differences in the low end seem to be much better now, and Hexa seems to have way more upper mids.
r/iems • Truthear Pure Coming Soon ->Heyo, the Hexa is a solid choice but it may feel lacking in bass if you haven't tried anything more "neutral" sounding I'm the past. If you want a slightly warmer sounding version (slightly bassier) of the Hexa; its successor (TruthEar Pure) may be what you're after. That being said though, both are some of the best IEM's and arguably the most natural sounding to most people you can get at that price point.
r/iems • Truthear Hexa as first IEM? ->Wanted to use a cheaper set for outdoor use besides my tea pros and tried the pure but just found them way too boring. I prefer the tangzu fudus
r/iems • Do any of you not like the Truthear Pures? ->Definitely Check Truthear Pure, also simgot EW300, if you do want something more Bassy Letshouer S08 (i think in this case is better over the Explorer because it has the same level of relaxed warm sound but with more fordward mid range and it would feel less "muddy" because of the planar driver which naturally sounds quite clean). Also, not sure if you only want fuller vocals or also a bassy sound, but there is the Dunu Kima 2 which is a vocal fordward iem with fairly full vocals, decently warm, but is quite Neutral leaning, meaning bass is not particularly boosted to achieve the warmness as with the other sets mentioned above.
r/iems • Best iems for warm neutral? ->I really don't like the blue 2 but some people swear by them. contrary to what other people say, the zero blue 2 is NOT a good IEM for gaming at all. the pure would actually be the better choice because the sub-bass isn't overemphasised and drowning out the lower midrange (the frequencies where footsteps actually are), the pure is also far less fatiguing which is an important thing to consider if you tend to play for decently long stretches of time. Personally I would be taking the Pure every single time and I believe it's the safer choice for someone who doesn't yet know what they want. If you want something more in your price range then I would honestly look towards something like the Salnotes x crinacle zero 2 or the simgot EW100, maybe the tanchjim bunny dsp or moondrop chu 2. Honestly I think most $20 IEMs are far better than the zero blue 2 but that's just my opinion.
r/iems • Looking between two Truthear IEMS for gaming and music ->Seems like your main issues with the Hexa were the upper mids and treble. In that case, the truthear Pure will probably be better for you. The Pure is pretty much a down-tilted Hexa which results in less upper midrange and brings the lower mids (and mid-midrange) more into the mix. I honestly don't think many other IEMs hit a "true" natural tuning so really your only options for a naturally tuned IEM are the Hexa or Pure. The Nora that someone else suggested I hear as being brighter than the Hexa so I wouldn't advise that at all. The Lush might be a decent option but I personally hear it as being a bit too sub-bass focused while lacking a bit in the lower mids, to me it doesn't really sound that natural, instruments end up sounding a bit too thin. Explorer is more of a warm tuning, it's quite heavy on the bass and has a bit of weirdness in the upper midrange, a lot of people enjoy it and I also enjoy it from time to time but it's not what I would describe as natural sounding
r/iems • Truthear Hexa felt a bit too sharp and fatiguing, looking for smoother and more natural IEMs ->Almost 10 years since i had first bought my KZ ZS5 - been demoing iem at various places ever since. Hmm, i might have undersold my experiences a bit. But i would say binary acoustics x gizaudio collab iem is pretty nice - since 11.11 is coming up soon you should probably pickup Davinci by Dunu, or if you are very very tight on money you can opt to pick up Truthear Pure. If you want harman tuning, theres always the truthear novas. As far as I know the Novas sound 95% identical to Moondrop Variations, and the details should be there as well. I daily drive moondrops at the gym. Best of luck.
r/iems • What does more expensive IEMs bring to the table in terms of audio quality? ->Could you extend on CP-145 vs NEO? I’m using NEO now with my Pure and the sound is the most natural to me, bass has great texture and treble is just enough. Tried W1 yesterday, bass was somewhat hollow and treble became too spicy sometimes (I’m prone to too much treble and shout in ear gain). I thought that soundstage was also bigger in NEO to me. How CP-145 sounds comparing to NEO? Is it any better for my case?
r/iems • Impressions/Review of the Truthear Pure from an IEM noob ->Ok, so NEO is better overall. Thanks for the response!
r/iems • Impressions/Review of the Truthear Pure from an IEM noob ->Yeah, get Simgot EW300 or at very least TruthEar Pure. Hexa is quite neutrally tuned and first timer might got "meh" reaction to it.
r/iems • Truthear Hexa as first IEM? ->Except for Comfort/Accessories/Build quality(that can be either better and sturdier materials or branded drivers) what you often get is a more fine tuned Iem. A single DD Driver is often limited to a certain degree what is possible with the tuning. If you check out some graphs you often see these peeks in the treble which can't be fixed with only one DD. With more an different drivers you can tune it easier and make it smoother. You can eq and make it better but you have to do it by ear (up until 6k you can use AutoEq and it works pretty good). The treble on the graphs are not correct therefore AutoEq won't help. You can in general increase or decrease the amount of treble (with a highshelf filter) but its harder to fix the peeks, add more treble energy in the parts where it lacks (which can sometimes be in the 10db range but it's not necessarily recommended to that because drivers have limitations -especially cheaper ones - and adding more and more will cause distortion) and still make it sound smooth. Is it worth it though to spend 5x more compared to the chu 2? If you want a better executed Treble, better build quality and accessories than definitely yes ( I'm thinking about the letshuoer S12 pro for a more exciting and detailed treble which you u can get during sales for around $100 or something like the Truthear Pure which has a smoother and more relaxed treble.) Is it worth it though to spend 25x more compared to the chu2? Now we are in a territory where value isn't really a factor anymore. Up until 200-$300 you can still argue in some cases that the value is still decent. But at $500 no Iem is worth the price if you can get the Moondrop chu2 for $20. Dont get me wrong. No $100 Iem sounds 5x better than the chu2 but like I said in the paragraph above the other things make it worth it. At the $500 price tag you don't get that much better better build quality, accessories or Soundquality compared to the $100 price tag. It will be definitely be better overall but it's not a good value (if we only think about Soundquality). Something like the Xenns top pro ( 2 DD and 8Bas) has noticeably higher r&d costs as well as material and labor/packaging costs. You are paying for let's say 20% better Soundquality $480 more. Not great value but its better. The $200-300 range is where you can get close enough to the endgame territory and is only slightly behind the behind the $500 price bracket. Everything above $500 is the last 1% (excluding the tuning preferences. Only talking about technical performance)
r/iems • I'm a beginner, how can a $500/1000+ dollar IEM be better then a $70-200 one? ->Do you think that (I have pure too) with using EQ app, i can imitate the sound of the Hexa? Thankyou so much!!!
r/iems • Impressions/Review of the Truthear Pure from an IEM noob ->Truthear Pure for me.
r/iems • What's your favorite IEM under $50-$150? ->The Tangzu Wan’er 2 consistently get good marks for gaming, but you’ll need a separate mic or the ones that have one integrated, but it won’t have a mute or anything. The Truthear Gate also get high marks as well. I will note I haven’t tried either of these, but they’re both $30> on Amazon. Maybe try a cheaper pair first to see if it fits your needs? I tried the Truthear Pure for a few rounds of battlefield last nite, and it was pretty good - decent soundstage, direction, and mix. I still prefer over-ears though.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • Are iems actually good for gaming? ->I got the Pures in this week and it's am not sure if it's because I'm an audio newb or what, but these don't sound very good. More lifeless and lacking any texture compared to the ew300, ie200, and Aful Explorer (got in this week too from the aliexpress sale). Maybe I need to EQ these or find eartips that work for me.
r/iems • Impressions/Review of the Truthear Pure from an IEM noob ->I ordered the Explorer and Truthear Pure at the same time and I like the Explorers way more. I'm fairly new to IEMs and looking at sound signature and the like, so take this with a grain of salt.
r/iems • Review. AFUL EXPLORER: Smoother Than a Dolphin's skin ->Both really good but the hexas are a bit more refined overall, if you have the budget go for it (but also take a look at the thuthear pure). Btw I don’t recommend the kleans for sim gaming (tarkov, arma, AB), but you should be fine with major mainstream gaming like cs, val, cod, rainbow six, overwatch, etc
r/iems • Truthear Hexa or Kefine Klean? ->The kleans are okay for story games, definitely not my preference but the silver nozzle filter makes it really good compared to the black filter (preferably used for competitive gaming). For story games I rather have something more bassy for impact and wide soundstage for immersion. I’d give a 3.5 out of 5 to the kleans regarding story gaming. I think that with the klean you kinda feel some kind of “switch” from effects/voice to the soundtrack and it bothers me a bit cause it’s not so smooth, it feels like you have the soundtrack playing on Spotify while you play without music on the game if you get what I mean lol but I guess that’s a me thing. Even a KZ ZAR makes story games/movies more interesting than the klean (then again, that’s a me thing). But I mean it’s a great deal if you find it for lower than the original price tag (although I think it’s worth the 50$) About the hexa/pure: the hexas have quite an analytical sound, it’s pretty neutral to my ears. It doesn’t have the best imaging for music but it is surprisingly good for online gaming. The pure is basically an upgraded hexa, it takes everything people liked from the hexas and add some warmth to the sound, it just has more swag than the hexas. I’d say it’s a solid option, great all rounder.
r/iems • Truthear Hexa or Kefine Klean? ->I would take Truthear Pure personaly..
r/iems • Truthear Hexa as first IEM? ->This is my first dive into IEMs. I already own and have owned many over ear headphones. Also, I am forced to do this on the abysmal app, so formatting isn't ideal. **BUILD AND COMFORT** For the price, I find it acceptable. The plastic shell feels sturdy enough, the cable gets the job done, the ear hooks are kind of annoying, and having something jammed in my ears will definitely take some getting used to. But on day 5 it already feels more "Normal" to wear them. **DRIVABILITY** At 14Ω and 124dB/1Vrms sensitivity, you can drive them from basically anything. Just make sure the source doesn't have a higher output impedance. **SOUND(Without EQ)** This is where I began somewhat regretting my headphone purchases, because this IEM is shockingly good for **my preferences.** My favorite sounding headphone under $5000 is the Sennheiser HD 650(on fresher pads) so that might give you an idea. - The bass of the Pure is full, textured and impactful, but not overly boosted, and it does not mask any aspects of the midrange. The lower midrange is elevated, providing warmth and "Richness" to various midrange overtones, and then the upper midrange is not shouty or too forward, but still provides great clarity. - The treble is definitely going to be too dark for some. But it is almost ideal for me, if not for the length-mode resonance. This does add a bit of harshness to vocals and cymbals, it isn't as big of an issue when I insert the IEM deeper, but when I insert it shallower(which I find more comfortable) the resonance shifts backwards to around 6.5-6.8kHz, and it is also more noticeable with the wide-bore ear tip. When that resonance is killed with EQ, the treble **for me** is very smooth, but still clear and crisp. Again, I am shocked at how good this little device is for the price. One EQ filter to kill the length mode resonance and it becomes as good as my beloved HD 650. I think I am officially IEM pilled now, except I am probably going to only own the Pure. I am curious about other "Warm" IEMs though, and also the Truthear Hexa. In fact, I bought 2 Pure units! Just in case the 1st one breaks outside of any warranty. Though, maybe owning more than one unit is more common in the IEM space, I am not sure.
r/iems • Impressions/Review of the Truthear Pure from an IEM noob ->This is my first dive into IEMs, so I have not tried any alternative tips at this point. The stock tips sound best for me when inserted pretty deep in the ear canal, since the length-mode resonance shifts to a less bothersome frequency, but then wearing the IEM becomes much less comfortable. Thanks for the tip options! I have read good things about the S&S tips with the Pure.
r/iems • Impressions/Review of the Truthear Pure from an IEM noob ->Hi, I only needed to EQ the length mode resonance, which will be different depending on how deep you wear the IEM and the effects of your specific ear canal. Which basically a means a tall but narrow peak(approximately a Q of 4) in the treble. It will exist with every single IEM for every single person. It makes vocals and cymbals sound a bit edgy and harsh for me. But I think the Pure being darker overall brings more emphasis to this resonance. You may not notice or care yourself though, which is great! For me, with how I like to wear the Pure, it is around 6.5-6.8kHz. If I shove them deeper in my ear, it shifts to around 7.6kHz. Basically, go use an online tone generator or pink noise, and search between 6kHz-12kHz for a noticeably strange peak, there's a higher chance it will be between 6-9kHz though. Then EQ it down a few dB with a Q of 4. If you use the tone generator, **do not listen loud, turn down your volume and keep it down**
r/iems • Impressions/Review of the Truthear Pure from an IEM noob ->I bought the Pure and instantly loved it. So much that I am buying a 2nd one in case the 1st one breaks.
r/iems • Moondrop Chu 2 and Truthear Hexa Review ->I love the Pure much more than the Hexa, personally.
r/iems • Truthear Hexa as first IEM? ->I find I really like them, but if they're not to your preference, that's alright! Everyone hears things differently. As for other suggestions, check out the recommendations post in the subreddit! I would give one but I don't own any other IEMs in the price range, or any other IEMs for that matter. My first are the Pures and I'll likely keep them for a long time before I think about upgrading them - but as I said, different strokes for different folks :)
r/iems • Do any of you not like the Truthear Pures? ->The newer version of Hexa, called Pure, has more bass leaning sound signature, and comes with a better quality cable and overall nicer finish. I would recommend getting the Pure instead of Hexa.
r/iems • Truthear Hexa as first IEM? ->On the ultra budget I would say KZ Castor/EDC Pro, then Crincale Red of you want more bass around 50$ and around $100 if you like a nice V shape signature the Juzear defiant or Truth ear pure if you want neutral+bass boost around $90.
r/iems • I'm an IEMs absolute noob, and I wanted to give them a try. What was your first IEMs? Do you regret it? What would you get as a first cheap one if you could do it again? ->I recommend truthear pure. Sidenote: I noticed on the first pic you wore the 846 incorrectly. If you go the ie200-style route, make shure you wear them properly. Check the cable/body for R/L markings.
r/iems • IEM recommendations under 10000 INR / $120 USD ->Yu9 Que - shockingly good for the price. If youre looking for the best iem at $400-500, this is it IMO Truthear Pure - warm tilted jm1 but very well balanced. If you like Hexa but found bass to be a turn off, pure has much, much better bass quality. Penon Archangel - best mild -V iem Ive heard to date. And incredibly fun to listen to. NiceHCK Rockies - megafest but less dull with tighter bass, faster, clearer transients. A bit bright but not overly so Haven't heard it but from what I can tell from feedback/impressions, Hercules Noah is also shaping up to be one of the best releases this year.
r/iems • What's the best IEM release of 2025? ->Truthear pure would my pick hands down
r/iems • New to IEMS help me decide on the best pair under $200 ->Excellent answers! I came to recommend daybreak, lush, and pure and saw you recommended all of them! I'd add in Ziigaat Horizon as well. Cheers!
r/iems • what is the most sonically accurate iem under 300 ->Good points! There's a lot of variation in what sounds neutral in ear and a single iem target can't apply to everyone! The only way to get truly neutral sound with IEMs is to compare by ear with studio monitors like the ones you've listed and try to EQ to get the iems to sound similar. Some iems will come closer to true neutral than others. Personally I try to compare my iems by ear to my own monitors (8341s and kh80s) and the Ziigaat Lush actually comes pretty closer than most iems, as does the Ziigaat Horizon and Truthear Pure.
r/iems • what is the most sonically accurate iem under 300 ->Not at all. It looks worse than it actually is, but it is super comfortable.
r/iems • Truthear Pure Coming Soon ->for me the Pure is great, I use it often but I am not a huge fan of the 300. I know lots of others really like it and after switching nozzles and tips around I did find it ok but just not my favorite. that being said I actually prefer the build quality of the 300.
r/iems • Well that escalated quickly ->the pure would be my pick out of the three.
r/iems • Well that escalated quickly ->Strongly recommend checking out the Pure. Had the same experience with the Hexa. The Pure are quite different but still very neutral and natural-sounding
r/iems • Truthear Hexa felt a bit too sharp and fatiguing, looking for smoother and more natural IEMs ->I’m loving the Pure! AB’ed it after a while w my beloved Kiwi Ears KE4 that I’ve been daily driving for months now, and I hated how dark and bloated the KE4 sounded in comparison. The Pure sounds so natural, I’ve never heard such detailed and natural travel in an IEM (though I’ve only tried so many up to now). Nicely downward-tilted in comparison to the Hexa. Just wish there was a bit more ear gain to compensate for the warmer mids and treble, but tbh I can’t even hear a difference when EQ’ing that in. They’re incredible. I like a good deep insertion and thankfully no noticeable resonance for me
r/iems • Impressions/Review of the Truthear Pure from an IEM noob ->Stick to low Q filters, and not large gain deltas if you can. Especially EQing with high Q adherence on treble doesn't make sense at all. It's not gonna be as it measures. It's gonna be quite different for every ear. Preamp: -1.8 dB Filter 1: ON PK Fc 20 Hz Gain -0.8 dB Q 1.400 Filter 2: ON PK Fc 48 Hz Gain -3.1 dB Q 0.200 Filter 3: ON PK Fc 76 Hz Gain 0.6 dB Q 1.300 Filter 4: ON PK Fc 470 Hz Gain -0.9 dB Q 1.500 Filter 5: ON PK Fc 2500 Hz Gain 1.6 dB Q 0.500 Filter 6: ON PK Fc 4500 Hz Gain -2.2 dB Q 2.000 Filter 7: ON PK Fc 8000 Hz Gain 1.0 dB Q 0.300
r/iems • Impressions/Review of the Truthear Pure from an IEM noob ->Just got the Pure today. My impression is similar to yours. Fit is really important on this IEM. Initially I was using my standard tips and the insertion was too shallow. The length-mode resonance is very real on this set. This caused increased lower treble i.e. sibilance. I switched to some shallower and thinner tips(I had these nice EPZ double flange shallow tips), so the insertion is now deeper. This instantly made a huge difference. The sibilance is gone, the treble sounds damn good. Maybe I'm used to this amount of treble (been using the 7hz zero 2 for some time before pure), but it doesn't sound lacking at all to me. The extension is definitely better than the 7hz zero 2, and overall to me it sounds neutral. Not dark at all. I think I'm treble sensitive though because I can't stand most 2022-2024 era DD budget iems due to the peaks they usually have at 10-13khz. Listening it without any EQ for now, and really enjoying it. Once I get familiar with the sound, I might do some tweaking. Overall, really satisfied with it!
r/iems • Impressions/Review of the Truthear Pure from an IEM noob ->I second the recommendation for the Pure. It's truly a benchmark IEM at $90, with nearly as much detail as the Hexa and better bass response. It's a great cross-genre set that fits my ears well, punching way above its price point. Although it's in another price bracket ($230 [~$200 on sale]), an IEM that significantly steps it up in every metric while keeping the same driver configuration (1 DD, 3 BA) is the ZiiGaat Odyssey. I don't think I've heard anything better under $500. Perhaps give it some consideration if you're ever looking to upgrade!
r/iems • Upgrading from Truthear Zero: Blue — Is AFUL Explorer a Good Next Step? ->Nothing beats the truthear hexa/pure. Maybe tanchjim nora but not enough people tried it
r/iems • The literal best neutral iem ->Same here I was using them for gaming I had all the truth ears up to the xenns iems for competitive fps. Then I got super lucky found a brand new sealed Astro a40 with the mixamp like a month ago bought it for $300 and i will never go back to iems like ever ever
r/iems • I quit ->I love the sound of the Blue 2’s, but I tried the Tangzu Fudu, Kiwis and 7hz - the only reason I’m considering others is because they feel so much better in my ears. But the sound signature has been better on the Truths by far
r/iems • Truthear Hexa is Still Goated ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
