"really does this track justice nicely. bass guitar is fantastic. guitars at end with horns are so good. I don’t know how but the estrellas have that punch the ATC monitors do. Legitimately shocked."
"I would say they are on par for quick dynamics and punchy response with the et142s. ... punchy dynamics ... The bass is massive here, almost verging on too much. ... hits so much harder."

"Ya there is amazing stuff in the 200 to 300 dollar space, really, like the latest run of Ziigaat stuff, Odyssee comes to mind.. ... We are having our little brains blown out the ear holes at this point."
"Ziigaat Estrella $236 what a great deal"
"In my mind the Ziigaat Estella can not be beat under $300."

"Good ear tips and seal/fit was more critical for these than the other two."

"estrella has closer frequency response to the tea pros, but most dynamic of the three, however it is the harshest of the three when the vocals kick in and the vocals are a bit piercing. ... The only minor quibble I have is that the airiness that floats ontop in this track has a tiny bit of unnatural metallic sheen to it. ... Hmm they sound shrill too. ... estrellas have maybe slightly overly sibilant vocals. ... The highs are a bit more brittle. ... the guitars/cymbal tuning here sound like they’ve kinda got mp3 compression artifacting due to the frequencies they’re emphasizing. Sizzly and unnatural. Again, feels cheaper."
"most fatiguing ... estrella: too much sizzle. Honestly though of all the sets here, these probably are the best pair for encouraging you to turn down. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. They almost sound better at low volume otherwise the sizzle/splash hurts too much."

"Unfortunately Ziigaat's shell shape creates pressure points near the upper ear. ... My only complaint is their shell shape creates a pressure point on the top/back of my ear. ... Ziigaat's shells are the only ones I've ever had a problem with. CHANGE UP THE SHELL SHAPE GUYS."
That's completely fair, I myself have my all arounder which I eq for most music the UM Mavenii and for EDM the Ziigaat Estrella. For me the Mavenii is an amazing IEM for the value ($1800), but that's only because I can comfortably afford it, it has also beat out multiple $3-4k flagship sets when listening side by side. This is for my ears though, other people may not agree and prefer other IEM's so I will never say the Mavenii is the best, just that its an amazing value. If 1k was my limit, the pLTD would be high on the list for all-around end game. Don't forget to enjoy the music as well!
YES the Odyseey is very special. I often can't chose between them and my Estrella's Ziigaat is making some great IEMs.
Everybody's ears are different. The stock ear tips work perfectly in my ears and imho are quite good. Yes I've tried 7 or 8 different tips with these. I love my Estrella's but when they are a bit to aggressive the Odyssey's balance fits the spot very nicely. Ziigaat seems to underprice all their products making them a great deal. If I had paid $280 -$300 for the Odyssey's I'd still be a happy customer.
The Ziigaat Estrella are great for Pink Floyd but if you double your budget the Dunu Glacier is like hearing them for the first time.
Ziigaat Estrella $236 what a great deal I may buy another one as a backup.
In my mind the Ziigaat Estella can not be beat under $300.
I love my Ziigaat's Estrella and Odyssey but it dose seem ridicules how many slightly different models they are putting out. How about a truly endgame model for much less than others, Say a Thieaudio Monarch MKIV quality IEM for say $850.
Except for those of us who prefer the Ziigaat Estrella.
Right now it's probably the TRI i3 mk3. Edit: I totally forgot that the Ziigaat Estrella was under $300 so it's definitely up there as well.
I like my Estrellas over my Hype 4s
I would suggest you try to find the Xenns Tea Pro on sale, I just bought it for $309 with a coupon. If you don't want to wait for a sale I recommend the Ziigaat Estrella either of these sets will work wonders with Hip-hop. I have seen the Ziigaat Odyssey recommended in this post and while I consider the best IEM at its price, I personally don't believe it's the best for Hip-hop, but that's just my opinion.
Yes, Xenns Mangrid Tea Pro is a great set and the Estrella is a very dynamic set which is what I love about it. The Estrella actually sounds a lot like my Canpur CP622B just not quite as refined or detailed.
I have three that immediately come to mind. The first I bought on sale for $20, the Seeaudio x Tangzu Shimin Li Encounter Edition. It's an all metal shell IEM that has a Vee shaped tuning, just a really good set especially for the price. The second is the TOTL Simgot, the EM10, it's a 10 driver set that has a Harman tuning, with excellent bass quality, and great details and instrument separation. The third is the Ziigaat Estrella, which is ok out of the box, but if tuned with the Shortbus Audio tape mod becomes a top tier set. This is one of my favorite IEMs along with the Dunu Glacier, Thieaudio Monarch mk3, MEST mk2 and Canpur CP622B.
Ziigaat Estrella, if my house burned down tonight and my collection of IEMs was destroyed, which is around 240 pairs, the first ones I would replace are the Estrella. I also would replace the Fiio UTWS5 2024 immediately.
I have several favorites for different situations and moods. For critical listening and the best sound I’ve heard, it’s the Canpur CP622B. The only problem with this IEM is the fit, I’m unable to wear them for more than a couple of hours. For just fun and exciting music it’s the Ziigaat Estrella with the Shortbus Audio tape mod. For sleep it’s either the Dunu Glacier or the Xenns Tea Pro. And for everyday listening it’s the FiiO FX17. I truly believe FiiO created a masterpiece with this set and I know it sounds crazy, but at $1500 I think it’s a bargain.
The IEMs that comes the closest to being an endgame set for less than $400 for me are the Xenns Tea Pro Kiwi Ears Punch Ziigaat Estrella Thieaudio Hype 4 Dunu DaVinci Moondrop Dusk Ziigaat Doscinco Simgot EM10
I personally really like the Melody Wing Venus, but the Ziigaat Odyssey or Estrella with the Shortbus Audio tape mod.
For me, it would be the Ziigaat Estrella with Shortbus Audio tape mod.
I've owned well over 200 IEMs and I don't recall the exact journey, but if you like bass I would recommend the Ziigaat Doscinco, Thieaudio Hype 4 or the Xenns Tea Pro. If you not sensitive to treble I would recommend either the YU9 Que or Ziigaat Estrella with Shortbus Audio tape mod. The Melody Wing Venus is a great set if you can find them for a decent price. The MP145 can be an endgame set especially with a good DAC/Amp.
A few I prefer to the Tea Pro, I normally like EST treble which most of this list incorporate in their sets. Canpur CP622B Fiio FX17 Dunu Glacier Thieaudio Monarch mk lll Thieaudio Origin Oriveti OH700VB Ziigaat Estrella (with Shortbus Audio mod) U.M. MEST mk ll Kiwi Ears Punch
OK. I like V shapes closer to the extreme side like ZiiGaat Estrella for metal and balanced/neutral for rock like Aful Performer 8. New meta all rounders like Kiwi Ears Astral and Xenns Tea Pro are also good but I prefer more contrast and energy for metal. If you don't have any idea if you are sensitive to treble or how much bass you want, Astral and Tea Pro would be safe choices. Also check out some ThieAudio Hype 4 reviews.
Decided I needed to try some new IEMs after having used some Shure SE846s for the last decade. Especially after having updated my studio monitors to ATC SCM20ASL this past year (absolute end game speakers for me), my IEMs just weren’t quite satisfying me anymore. Prioritizing soundstage and dynamics, I researched a lot but decided to buy and compare the following: 1. simgot et142 (about $300 CAD) 2. ziigaat estrella (about $400 CAD) 3. mangird tea pros (about $500 CAD) I went into this thinking I was going to like the estrellas the most just based on what I read. But out of curiosity I ordered the et142s because I read that the simgot ea1000s were the soundstage champs for the price range, but they weren’t available and the et142s seem to kind of be the successor. I also ordered the Tea Pros because they are so universally lauded but haven’t received them yet. I’m glad I took the gamble on the simgot et142s though. After a couple of days A/Bing between them and the estrellas… I think they have the estrellas beat. They have better soundstage, better dynamics, and they are somehow both more revealing in the top end but also warmer and with more heft in the low mids. With that being said they are more similar than not (surprising to me), but every time I go from the et142 to the estrella, the main impression I consistently get is that the estrella sounds very close, but it’s just “thinner”. I should mention that I’m gain-matching them to rule out volume change bias, so the thinness isn’t just lower volume. I’ve seen a lot of discussion on the estrellas but very little on the et142s. I unfortunately haven’t heard the very popular ea1000s so I can’t say if they truly are the successors to that line, but regardless I am kind of blown away. I had zero expectations of them winning my A/B test, and I still want to do further comparisons on more tracks, but so far they are the underdog winners here. Looking forward to comparing them to the Tea Pros when those arrive. For reference I am testing the et142s with the burnished purple/blue filters that were installed on them in the box (haven’t even tried the other filters yet yet) and the black ear tips they came with, plus stock cable. I put an upgraded cable on the estrellas and switched to some dunu tips that sounded best with them. Testing both with the qudelix 5k. Both with and without some custom eqs I’ve made to match them both to my preferred sound signature. The et142s are winning for me both in the EQd and raw non-EQd comparisons. Anybody else have similar experiences with the simgot et142s? Seeing very little discussion on them. Are these largely being slept on due to lack of discussion? They have really defied my expectations so far!
Thank-you for confirming my thoughts and for the explanation regarding the middling reviews and general lack of discussion as opposed to the larger amount of discussion and hype around the estrellas. Not that the estrellas are bad, but I just didn’t expect the cheaper set to sound better (especially with stock cable/tips). I’m not super well versed with iems, but as an audio engineer and music producer I think I’m generally pretty good at being critical of sound. I was starting to wonder if anyone else felt the same or if I was just out to lunch however haha. Appreciate your feeback!
I was in a similar boat as OP and bought the tea pros, ziigaats and et142s. After lots of comparison the et142s were the clear winner and surprisingly the cheapest of the three. They’ve been my daily driver ever since and have never felt the need for anything better. Frankly I have a hard time imagining how they could be improved on. Very, very pleased with my simgot et142s. They are endgame for me for now.
I only found the Estrella sound spicy and I owned all except the Arete, Lush and Luna.
I'm probably in the minority here, but I have no complaints about a company releasing a ton of options with branded Knowles or Sonion BAs instead of bellsing crap. People have no idea the price difference in branded BAs is sometimes an increase of 10X over drivers companies like Aful use. If you are at all familiar with graphs and how an IEM diverges from JM-1 (neutral), plus the different properties of certain driver types (Dynamic vs. BA vs. Planar etc) you can usually guess 90% of what it sounds like. I like options. My only complaint is their shell shape creates a pressure point on the top/back of my ear. Ziigaat's shells are the only ones I've ever had a problem with. CHANGE UP THE SHELL SHAPE GUYS.
