California pillowtop Aireloom from OC Mattress in Southern California. It was about $7000 12 years ago. It lasted 3 years until its plush pillowtop sagged, and hurt my husbands back to the point he could barely get out of bed. For me it was fine, my daughter was gifted it, she loved it. She got married and husband did not want a hand me down from her parebts. It went in the trash. Lol. It was never hot sleeping. I currently have a Hybrid mattress from Ortho Mattress firm Continental Cooling on a steel adjustable base, with zero gravity, blah...blah.... I have always disliked the bed, hot and memory foam cradle not to my liking. It did 100% solve my husband's lower back issue. I do love the adustable base. It is now 6 years old, and I added a Novafoam Celliant topper from Costco and a 4" Bamboo/rayon/poly fill topper from Amazon. This combination is made the bed cool and as not sinking as memory foam, plus fixed the issue of sagging feeling of the back area. It has 7 zobe support, the mattress. Side sleeper, bsck sleepers 6"2 220 lbs and 5' 8" 200 lbs. Body is not sore. The side have held up it has reinforced sides and We both sleep at the edges so tgat is a plus. I also have Beautyrest Harmony with the Celliant Novaform from Costco & tge Bamboo/Rayon/poly fiber on a queen upstairs & we both love it. I still miss my Aireloom, but love the silence and no motion transfer of the hybrid memory foam. I researched almost every construction every manufacturer, even do it yourself.
It depends on what type of mattress, the material, and what line by what manufacturer because there are differences in feel & support level. And, your soecific back issues. Do you like to be hugged by a mattress or float on top? Do you toss & turn? Do you sleep hot? Springy vs motion isolation? A medium firm inner spring tight top with a 3 inch tempurpedic topper if you like to sink in or a Novaform Lucacor foam topper if you like support but ease of turning & less heat with a bamboo mattress topper with combo poly fill & rayon combo (for either) will give you the equivalent of a very expensive mattress but the ease of adjustability for the topper now & in the future for around $200-300 vs buying an expensive mattress that may or may not meet your needs. You could also look into latex foam topper (talalay is soft squisher than dunlop due to processing). It is normally the top comfort layer that wears out on today's mattresses vs the springs. I have owned Aireloom ($7000) pillowtop, Tempurpedic hybrid cooling, all memoryfoam, innerspring. Most mattresses are hybrids even if that is not what they are being marketed as. Beautyrest Harmony medium firm with Novaform Celliant Topper & bamboo rayon topper inbetween N9vaform & celliant topper is the best we have found for my husband's back isdue lower discs motorcycle injury 20 years ago. The Aireloom, the Tempurpedic are both great for a year or so...then the support lags, trouble getting out of bed in am. Tempur with adjustable base is was great until mid s3ction foam breaks down too.
I think Heirloom is a top tier mattress but still may be too plush... thanks again
In several months, we went from my old mattress, (nectar luxury hybrid) which was hurting my lower back to a Sleepon all latex, to a sleepon hybrid (both way too firm even with toppers still uncomfortable), to a temper pedic probreeze med firm (which destroyed our body and was terrible for sex) to the final one which finally hit the jackpot I think. The winner is Aireloom Monterey. Has some bounce and support we need. Side sleeping is great on this thing. Probably the most comfortable bed I've ever owned. Pricey yes..but worth every penny. Note: It says plush, but honestly this thing is still very supportive. Its strange. Has a perfect balance.
I went and tried all the mattresses I could. I haven’t bought one yet but my #1 pick is one of the softer mattresses from Aireloom you can find at furniture row. The next is the most expensive purple mattress. I need good support but a soft plush top so my hip and should can sink in and not be pushed up out of place.
I have degenerative disc disease and am fused C4-C7. I bought an adjustable Aireloom about a year and a half ago and absolutely love it. It has spoiled me for other mattresses and I miss it when I'm on vacation!
I went down this rabbit hole too many times… There is a lot of personal preference, but here’s mine— Never memory foam, make me handicapped, sink in, can’t move bullshit. Latex is a massive step up— sink onto, not into. Aerloom’s higher end beds have micro coils (lots of support) with latex on top. Step up from that— Kluft. Same company, supposedly better product. Aerloom made my back feel 90% better than the very pricey online bed in a box bullshit I had purchased a few years prior. Next step up Vispring. No foam. Springs, cotton, wool, horse hair (if you’re fancy). Feels like an 80s bed, but in a good way. Back pain gone. There is a NY company that makes handmade beds like Vispring, but way less expensive. Didn’t buy because I couldn’t try them out in California. Might be a great mid price option. Google will find them for you. Remember lots of margin in mattresses. Ignore their “xyz” sale and ask for no less than 33% off .
