I actually think Avocado is not that bad. I tested several a few weeks ago, while at my friends showroom on the west coast. While they are comfy, construction is just ok. They use polypropylene as a scrim and it is glued to the coils and they wrap the coils with polypropylene too. The coils are on a two turn whereas harvest uses three, but the coil diameters are a bit different so no big deal, but the handles are a nice touch. I think Avocado has gradually upped their game recently, but their prices have gone up too. They state that the mattress is organic, but not completely. The mattresses are very comfortable to lie on and the basic green, is reasonably priced as BiB's go. Although when you get to the very plush versions and their new Grand Luxe, you are talking 24k for an Avocado mattress. At that point, I am buying Shifman or ViSpring. The Green with the boxtop jumps up to a 4k mattress (all in King). I think for that, buy the base Green and a 3" Talalay topper. Despite all that, it is a nice feeling mattress and worthy of a showroom floor. They seem to be improving things as they grow and they tell a nice story along the way. I think Birch, Naturepedic, and if you like all latex, Abasan is likely a better choice. If you are comparing the upper middle range Avocado's Royal Pedic is a nice choose too. Avocado is rather strict on their MAP pricing too. My bud does sell quite a bit of them though, so their popularity is rising. That is my two cents.

My mattress was super pricey so caveat there. I chose Avocado premium firm. It’s been a dream for both me (MS + Connective Tissue and joint/lower back issues) and my husband. It’s also constructed with certified organic and non-toxic materials. They have a few showrooms around the country: SoCal, NJ/MY metro, DC All orders are still online. Highly recommend.

Avocado isn’t automatically terrible, but it’s also not automatically premium just because it’s marketed as organic. I’ve tested and worked with a lot of latex hybrids, and here’s the reality. Latex placement and coil support matter more than the eco label. If the latex layer is too thin or positioned poorly over soft coils, the mattress can feel great at first and then lose perceived firmness within a year or two. That’s usually a support breakdown issue, not just “latex is bad.” Some people genuinely love theirs, especially earlier builds. Others report sagging, lumpiness, or that the feel changes over time. That tells me consistency has likely varied by production run. Before buying any latex hybrid, look at coil gauge, coil count, and how thick the latex layers actually are. Ask where the firmer support layers sit. If you can’t get that info clearly, that’s a red flag. Marketing about sustainability is fine, but it doesn’t replace structural specs. Also, use the full trial period. Rotate the mattress every few months early on. Check your foundation. A weak base can exaggerate sagging. Latex can be excellent when built correctly. But no mattress is good just because it says organic. If you’ve owned a recent model, how has it held up after two or three years?

Exactly, knowing the actual layers and coil setup saved me a ton of guesswork. Rotating early definitely helped too, otherwise the soft spots show up fast.

We went with the Avocado Latex Hybrid from Costco because we had a latex one from Ikea that we loved but they no longer made when we wanted to upgrade to a king. Love the firmness so far and it’s actually much cooler than any mattress I’ve ever slept on. Very very happy so far!

I spent well over a year learning about and reading about mattresses. i read thousands of reviews, made phone calls, asked questions, and did everything i could do to learn about what is best. my decision was to get AVOCADO. I also got the wooden bed frame. i cannot tell you how great it is. I have ni words for how wonderful it is. I got it 4 years ago exactly. It is just as good today as on day one. Its beyond perfect. I encourage you to go for it.

So, we sat and tried to compose a list of year/make/model/ what went wrong. Not so easy. My spouse is correct it was 6 beds in 14 years to be exact. Memory foam failure is the #1 reason for having to get rid of each bed. Approximately $16k spent. Sealy, Stearns Foster Avocado, Saatva, Tempur Pedic and 1 more (can't recall brand). Within the 1st 18 months there's always the start of the breakdown, like you feel that its not the same, then come the dips that become valleys and turning is no longer easy. All while complaining "another one bites the dust /is this really happening again/ wtf, all that money, its got to last longer than this." We're done. We should have been done years ago. Latex.
