I have an Avacado Luxury Pillowtop, the quality and presentation of the bed are great (I'd hope that from a $5200 dollar bed though), but personally I found it to be too soft to really feel like I can fully relax. I tried a green pillowtop and it seemed to be a little firmer, its interesting because I tried it at one showroom and it felt like a rock (maybe they hadn't fully broken it in) at another retailer though it felt more like a regular 6/10. Personally I will always want to try out a bed before I buy it, I'm exchanging my Avocado for a Helix mattress (midnight luxe) and I only ordered it because a mattress store nearby had them and I got to demo it. I will say that the Avocado beds seem to take awhile to break in (mine is finally getting bearable 50 days in) I totally agree on the subject of the feel of latex being polarizing and after experiencing it I realized I prefer a memory foam hybrid over it. I wonder if something like Helix would help drive traffic if theres not another retailer nearby. Forbes, Wired, and CNET have it in their top mattresses, with Forbes and Wired having it as their best overall pick for a mattress.
Consider an Avocado Green Mattress in a Pillow-top, a GOTS-certified organic latex hybrid mattress. It's well-suited to your side and back sleeping preferences, fits your budget, and because it uses natural materials, it breathes well and retains little heat (sleeps cool).
[Avocado Green](https://www.avocadogreenmattress.com/products/green-natural-organic-mattress) They were best on Consumer Reports when I bought it and at the time it was money back for about 30 days if you don't like it. I think it is $99 to return now.
My wife and I are currently on our seventh trial mattress in 2 years. The mattress market has changed a lot since I last bought one in \~2016, and the model that I liked then of course is no longer available. One of the mattresses we tried was the "new" version of that model, and it was just junk in comparison. Our preference is for medium firmness, so I won't offer specific recommendations. However, as someone who sleeps hot and prefers organic materials, I will say this: Latex is natural, unlike memory foam. It has more bounce and cradles less. For the top itself, Tencel is OK but cotton/wool is where it's at. The non-natural "cooling" stuff is a joke as far as I'm concerned. Out of the 7 we've tried, 2 stand out. One of the first we tried, hybrid with memory foam and a non-natural top. Firmness is perfect but it sleeps hot. Nest Sparrow. We kept it as a guest bed since we needed one for our new home anyway. The other is a hybrid too, but with latex and a cotton/wool top. Wish it were just a little bit more forgiving at the hips in terms of firmness, since I like to sleep on my side, but I don't overheat at all, which is phenomenal. Avocado Organic Pillowtop (from Costco).
I have the original one from several years ago (the ones with the built-in pillowtop that were tufted). Funny it was right before they won the Consumer Reports award and blew up. But I was coming off a horrible experience with a fancier Aireloom mattress that offgassed so bad that after two nights of sleeping on it I ended up with bronchitis for months. Avocado was one of very few brands back then that was more on the natural end (not organic back then, but still using natural materials like wool and cotton). I took a chance and really hit the jackpot. I still LOVE it. I was actually recently considering moving this one to a guest room and buying another to firm it up a little, but my god the prices have gone a bit bananas. The closest model to mine (the green model plus) would now be $4k "on sale" for a king. Geezus. No can do. And it looks like they're desperately trying to move up-market with the newer fancier models, and it makes me wonder what compromises they've made with the original model to convince people to spend even more. And there's literally NO WAY I would buy one of the higher end models-- the highest end model is like $14k hahahahahaha.. IF I could even afford them (I can't) at those prices I'd buy a Vispring or Hastens. So tldr; I love mine but I decided against buying a new one because too much money and because mine is still perfectly fine. But if I needed to, I'd probably go get the Costco version with the thinner latex and buy a Sleep on Latex pad with maybe a thin Holy Lamb wool topper for cooling.
Avocado green hybrid with pillow top. Expensive, but cured my husband’s back pain and we love it!
The Avocado Green Mattress Pillowtop and Boxtop (we’ve owned both) have ruined all other mattresses for my wife and I. They also offer a $90 ten year warranty that covers all accidental damage, which gave us peace of mind considering the money we spent.

We’ve had two Avocado’s. They smell good.
I bought an Avocado Medium Pillow Top. Best mattress I've ever had (and I'm old and have had a lot).
I tried it at the Avocado store in DC. I would never buy a mattress without trying it in person. Luckily there's a corporate store here but there are lots of places without them. It's an amazing mattress. The cotton and wool fibers in the pillowtop let you nestle into it like you would on a futon, but the foam and springs underneath give you cushioning and support. Best of both worlds.
7 months. Medium green pillowtop. It is the best mattress I've ever had. And I'm old and have had bunches including tempurpedic, sleep number, latex. By far the best.
Love my Avocado medium pillowtop
