We just brought in Avocado to our store and the luxury Box Top is super soft. My favorite bed they make. Only one they add talalay to the mattress. I would try that. King koil intimate Michelson is also pretty soft. Most comfortable bed I ever laid on was a McCrosky 2-3 years ago. Was $30k but felt awesome.
I have been selling* mattresses for 19 years and Saatva has the worst warranty ai have ever seen. Avocado has a great mattress.
The only mattress I would tell people will sleep cold is technogel. Every other mattress has properties to help you mot get hot, but technogel is the only thing that sleeps cool. They are slightly higher than your price though. It depends on the kind of mattress you want, King Koil intimates is a great line, we sell the Michelson which has over 3000 support coils in a queen and another 7000 micro coils. Avocado makes a good mattress if you want to try latex.
The point of an adjustable base is to put you into the proper sleep ergonomics. The things you mention are ancillary. Raising your head and your feet when you sleep takes pressure off you low back, opens up your airways so you can breath better, and helps your blood circulate better. If none of those things would improve your life skip the base…but bet something on that list would help.
There is a big difference between cheap latex and expensive latex. You said you don’t want to spend Tempur money, I find it hard to recommend a great latex mattress that isn’t expensive. We have done well with Avocado. King koil makes a pure bliss that has a soy core instead of a latex core.
That sounds like it was taken right from a Tempurpedic flier. Tempurpedic is visco elastic foam, which in layman’s terms is memory foam. I have seen more Tempur warranty issues in the last 5 years than I did my first 15, and a VP from Tempur told me at a meeting that they have greatly despec’d their foams and purposely not shared that info. It doesn’t hold its shape like it used to.
It was three years ago at a Las Vegas market. I don’t remember their name. 2-3 years before that a different VP in R&D told us the same thing. Believe me or not, when I was drinking the kool aid I could be swayed either…then I became an independent retail store owner, and see things that most sales reps will never see. If you weren’t selling these 15 years ago, you have no idea how much the quality has gone down.
After talking to 50-80 people a day for 3 days…and knowing I would never see them again. Nope. What benefit do I get from making this up? I could tell 1st person stories, but instead just stayed with factual statements. Have a great day dude, keep up whatever is working for you.
I have never heard of that brand, so can’t answer specifically. Most people that like memory foam, don’t like latex and visa versa. You are going to completely change the feel of the mattress. As far as the heat, in theory it should, but I do not know anyone that’s tried that. If it doesn’t, it would be because the latex sinks into the memory foam and it plugs the holes in the piece of rubber.
Stearns and foster (and Beautyrest black) have some of the most over rated support in the industry. Find something with better support for your body. Avocado, diamond with a 9 series coil, Pranasleep is a brand we just picked up. I would stay away from the S brands.
If you have sciatica you need a zoned support. Something with better/more support in the center to keep your hips from dipping. Lots of brands do this now, Avocado being one of them. Latex is cooler sleeping than polyurethane foam, but I still tell people if you sleep hot, you are going to sleep hot on anything. Those buying guides are usually paid for ads. I would recommend going into a store and finding what works best for your body.
I have an avocado latex hybrid (3yrs) and it sags. We are about 190lbs and 120.
I finally looked up my order: ORGANIC LUXURY PLUSH…This hybrid mattress features 17 premium layers of organic and natural latex, wool, silk, hemp, and cotton, combined with up to 2,588 individually encased coils arranged in 7 ergonomic zones for support and motion isolation
It was delivered in Feb 2022. We bought the split king and both sides have been sagging for at least 2yrs. Mattress price was close to 6k
My Avocado latex hybrid (3ys) sags😡
I absolutely HATE my Avocado luxury plush bed that cost around 6k. It’s uncomfortable and sags badly. 4yrs old
Do not buy into the Avocado scores! Sitting here this morning discussing with my SO how much I hate my Avocado Organic Luxury plush mattress that was over 6k with tax. My hip hurts his shoulder hurts. We HATE this mattress that is just now 4 yrs old.
I have a 6k Avocado hybrid that is an absolute piece of shit. So no, price doesn’t mean quality.
Yes, I wish I’d known that when I bought😡
We bought a 6k (with tax) Avocado luxury plush hybrid and it sucks. We’ve had it for 4 yrs and it is sagging terribly!
Consumer Reports also LOVED the Avocado Mattress that I bought at 6K$ and it’s terrible.
Yep, started sagging really badly by 3yrs.
Spent 5k+ on an avocado mattress 3 years ago and hate it, sags badly so don’t look at avocados.
Avocado brand. We bought their premium model and it was expensive - but also hands down the best purchase ever. Totally worth it.
We tried all the Avocado latex hybrid ranges and don’t believe they are worth the money. The best (to us) was the Luxury tight top which was about 3,200 for twin xl on sale ($4,000) full retail. The green is very simply made - coil, 2” of Dunlop and wool in the ticking. Buy the one that is the most comfortable to you. Most latex hybrids should last a similar duration. You won’t get a longer lasting one by spending more on it. Ideally buy that you can change layers in but I haven’t seen any like that so far. Engineered sleep comes the closest and though I haven’t tried them, they are the best (to me) design philosophy. We just bought bespoke ones from CST otherwise I was going to get something from engineered sleep.
They are 100% commodity with the simpler builds such as Avocado green. However the luxury line is not simple due to it being a mix of very different materials. Buy or build what’s most comfortable to you with a generous return policy. That’s it. I will write a longer post about my experience later but I now agree with all the old hands here - must try in stores to really know what works and what does not. Imho winkbeds are super affordable as well and absurdly comfortable.
The only real data would come from mattress companies who don’t publish this. As the industry insider you probably can share data on warranty claims approved vs denied. I have read so many posts from people having a bad experience with mattresses warranty claims. The link between stains and warranty denials is a prime example of this - as if a a stain caused the mattress to dip. If you believe warranties are great and working, good on you. But if you have spent any time on these forums, you understand that you can get you claim fulfilled but not easily and not often. Here are some links you can use to educate yourself 1/ https://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/lawsuit-news/mattress-firm-class-action-says-sealy-warranty-claims-unfairly-denied/ 2/ https://www.webblawgroup.com/blog/2014/september/mattress-warranty-stain-exclusions-and-improper-/
Check out the Saatva Latex Hybrid. I have it and it works very well for me. I first tried the Avocado green box top but returned it. It had a defect from day 1 and I didn’t even want to get into it with the warranty crap. Saatva ships flat (not shoved in a box like Avocado). Also Avocado’s “excellent” return policy lets you return only one mattress - ever. So if you get a second one and it doesn’t work, you’re screwed.
Keep in mind that Avocado requires you to fully rotate your mattress every month for 6 months, then every month after forever. I found it to be a pain to do so, so I returned my primary mattress (the green box top). Plus it had a defect. Also, you can only return a mattress to them once - ever. So if you exchange it and the new one doesn’t work, you’re screwed. I also have the green pillow top as my guest bed and I found it to be extremely uncomfortable for me as a side sleeper. I slept on it waiting for my new primary mattress to be delivered, and I actually switched to an air mattress that was more comfortable, lol. So obviously not a fan of this brands mattresses. They have an extremely active Marketing department and their product unfortunately does not live up to the hype of said Marketing Department.
The Avocado Green Mattress Pillowtop and Boxtop (we’ve owned both) have ruined all other mattresses for my wife and I. They also offer a $90 ten year warranty that covers all accidental damage, which gave us peace of mind considering the money we spent.
We’ve had two Avocado’s. They smell good.
