I have the Bear Elite Hybrid and love it. Super comfortable and doesnt look weird at all. Sleepline has the best review I found for it: https://www.sleepline.com/bear-mattress-review/

Seconding the Bear rec. It's a really good mattress. Just make sure you get one of the hybrid models with coils. The foam-only ones won't be supportive enough. Search Google for "bear elite hybrid review sleepline". It's the best review I found for it.

I have [this one](https://mattressvoyage.com/bear-elite-hybrid) and love it. Super comfortable and its held up well after multiple years of use. Also don't trust most review sites. Almost all reviews are just ads in disguise. Sleepline is the only exception I've found. They're the only ones who actually say bad things about the brands in their reviews.

Ive had [this one ](https://mattressvoyage.com/bear-elite-hybrid) for five years now and it's just as comfortable as the day i bought it. No regrets even though it is pricey.

A hybrid is essential. You need the coil support of core to help support your joints. I have [this one](https://mattressvoyage.com/bear-elite-hybrid) in medium firmness. Its helped me out a TON.

My general advice if you have the budget for it is to buy the luxury model from mattress brands (Big Fig, Titan, etc) that are tailored toward heavier people. The higher-end models of these mattresses typically come with pillow tops or cooling covers, so you get tons of support without winding up on something uncomfortably firm. These mattresses are typically medium-firm(ish) and will last a long time. What Bear did you wind up getting? The original foam model and the Elite hybrid were solid when I tested them. Glad you're sleeping better!

It’s just crazy that they’re 5, 6, 7 mattresses in the year and they’re all garbage

The bear elite is a good option especially with the zoned coils. But I don't think a topper will be a good idea as most of those are memory foam and the OP is a hot sleeper

I've tried one, and the Bear mattress really surprised me (in a good way). I don't see a lot of comments on it. But it is definitely one of my favs too

You don’t have to give up memory foam entirely, but I would suggest a more supportive hybrid. Something like the firm Aurora Luxe by Brooklyn bedding or the Bear Elite just to name some off the top of my head. Personally I have the plank luxe with the Active Cooling topper from Viscosoft, it’s a really good combo a super firm inner spring and a memory topper, but if you want just a single mattress then pick a supportive hybrid.

If you thought the Helix was fine, try the Bear Elite Hybrid. Same makers as the Helix but way better in my opinion. I've slept so well since I've had it. I'm a side/stomach sleeper with mid to upper back issues as well. It's affordable. I can't speak to longevity since I've only had it a few months. Before buying the Bear I had a medium Tempur-pedic for over 10 years.. it was causing me back pain.

The Bear Elite Hybrid Firm is quite the firm mattress. Not quite the Plank Luxe, but in that same ball park. We just slept on that mattress on a recent trip last week. First time in forever, we did not wake up with sore backs, despite sleeping in 4 & 5 start hotels. The Bear Elite Hybrid Firm was the best mattress in any hotel we have slept on, even better than the Ritz in lower Manhattan. Of course our preference is a firm mattress, but that is what we like and what keeps us pain free.
