Latex mattresses are a gamechanger. None of the toxic nastiness that memory foam mattresses have in them.

Firm enough to relieve back pain but still comfortable.
I have a cheap hybrid queen from Amazon that was like 250 bucks... I like it way more than the 1500 bear mattress we used to have when I was married.

The dip in 3 years usually means the foam density was too low. Look for memory foam at 4 lb per cubic foot or higher density poly foam. Purple, Bear, and Saatva are solid in your budget range. Most have 100 night trials so you can test without committing. Also check Costco's mattress section if you have a membership, their return policy is basically forever and the prices are hard to beat.
Personally, I won’t go back from memory foam. I don’t like TempurPedic but we have a Bear mattress on our bed and a much cheaper Juno for the guest room. I like both more than any coil mattress I’ve had.
