I bought a Bear (Star Hybrid) about a year ago and it's been awesome. It took me about a week to pick as there are a ton of mattress companies. I think Bear, and possibly other brands, is owned by the same company as Helix.
I just ordered this and will receive on Friday! I'm sending back a tempur medium supreme non hybrid that I found to squish down way too far and have horrible response and continued to off gas something awful even after a thorough several day air out. The surface of it felt hard as a rock and then you'd slowing sink in and keep slowly sinking in forever! I didn't like it all except it felt fine if you just were laying on your back only. Side and stomach you'd feel somewhat sunken in a bad way. Maybe the firm would have been better but with the off gassing and slow response I moved on all together. I come from using a 2011 Tempur Cloud Supreme from which has a plush surface and excellent response time. Over the years it's lost it's support so I'm on my third try with the Leesa and praying it works! First tried a bear medium hybrid (hard, okay on back but not on side or stomach, too springy!) then when I saw what trouble the return process and iffy warranty stuff could be switched to costco offering for ease and warranty aspect. Good luck!
Bear the coil spring hybrid. After a few days adjustment it’s been the best. The bf has a Casper with a bear mattress topper we sink into and are so supported brother of us moves much in our sleep. He’s a stomach side sleeper and hasn’t complained. Not sure which Casper he got
When OP mentioned it I thought of all those hotel stays when we worked on the road. Getting a high floor room with one of the new mattresses was gold. Do wonder if subconsciously that’s what we went for with the many topper mattress combos we tried. In winter I’ll throw a gel topper on the bear unless I’m sore then it’s straight on. I have a travel topper I bring on long runs. Only drawback to bear.
Bear mattress I can’t sleep pain free without it. When traveling I bring their mattress topper
If you’re trying to keep things comfy for EDS go check out Brooklyn Bedding or could also try Bear. They make hybrids that feel softer on top but still keep the body lined up so you’re not sinking weird. Super forgiving for kids who feel every bump. I’d just test a medium or soft at home and see how her body reacts before locking anything in.
I’ve had a bear hybrid for 8 ish years now and it’s got zero signs of sag. Feels just like when I first got it. But I was looking into getting another as I’m moving across country and they sold the company a few years ago and some reviews say they’re gone way down hill so I can’t claim quality for their mattresses after the sale. I won’t be getting another I don’t think bc of it.
I bought a queen size Bear mattress for about $700 that came with two pillows. It came compressed so it was easy to move even if my move was only from mid city to Koreatown. I’m pretty happy with it. It’s not too firm and not too soft either.
We really like our Bear mattress — it’s held up well over about 5 years!
Personally, I won’t go back from memory foam. I don’t like TempurPedic but we have a Bear mattress on our bed and a much cheaper Juno for the guest room. I like both more than any coil mattress I’ve had.
We use a Bear mattress.
