I just got one of these and its the worst mattress I've ever bought! I hate buying a new mattress... I had a Beautyrest Black Hybrid X Class Plush that failed after 4½ yrs that we absolutely loved but of course they dont make them anymore. So we had to do a reselect and of course in store its super soft and comfy and feels amazing and then you get a mattress thats hard as a rock and their excuses is "It's just not broken in yet." It's been 10 days now and it's still just as hard as the first day we got it and they refuse to do anything, even if we pay another $1000 to upgrade to the Series 3 Medium Apex.

Ya and I get that 100% but when you order a softer bed it should start somewhere close to that softness? I've never had this issue before and I've bought 5 mattresses in the last 8 years between me and my kids and never had this kinda thing happen. I expect it to be a little stiff but this is on a whole nother level? My X Class Plush felt amazing from day 1

The Beautyrest has been recalled (talk about a crazy ass story behind that), so I'm looking for its replacement. I did have the Intellibed Midnight, but Mattress Firm sent my, bought and paid for bed to Purple, when they purchased Intellibed and their IP; another crazy ass story. Anyways... I would like feedback (actual user/owner if possible) on the following mattresses that I am considering. I appreciate your help. **Beautyrest Black Series Four 17.5" Medium Summit Pillow Top** **Purple Restore Premier Cool Touch 13" Hybrid** **Kingsdown Crown Imperial 16" Firm Euro Top** **Chattam & Wells Fontainebleau 18" Plush Euro Top** **Chattam & Wells Pierrefonds 16" Firm Euro Top**

I've had a Simmons Beauty Rest Black Ice memory foam for about 8 years now.... But it cost $7K and I wouldn't recommend that to anyone. Also... Air conditioning, man.

I’ll try to keep this brief and not lay out a novel. Currently my partner and I have a king Simmons Beautyrest Hybrid Pillow Top Plush which is about 5 years old. I’m 175lbs and 90% stomach, 10% side sleeper. She is 135lbs and about 50/50 side/back sleeper. The Simmons has been a great bed and even though it’s a plush, it seems equally as firm as some mediums we have tried out recently. We are both pretty active, no predisposed aches/pains, but haven’t been diligent in rotating our mattress so there’s some impressions in the mattress that have developed. That’s on us. Current frame and box springs are solid, so we will be looking at just a mattress purchase. So far we have made one trip to a furniture store and tried out: \- Sealy Ellie Lane EPT Medium - front runner so far (worried about durability due to price point, TBH) \- Sterns & Foster Estate Medium TT - runner up \- Sterns & Foster Lux Estate Firm EPT - initial comfort isn’t much better/different than above two options, although I wonder if durability will be better due to price/debsity \- Purple - not a huge fan \- Termpur Pedic - not a huge fan \- Dream Cloud - not a huge fan Full memory foams aren’t our preference, and we plan to go check out some nicer Beautyrest options as well as other options today. Any suggestions on what to check out? Update: post shopping today - we really liked the Beautyrest Black series one medium tight top. Update 2: the Sealy Elite medium tight top was also a top contender. We also became adjustable base fans. Update 3: [made a purchase](https://www.reddit.com/r/Mattress/s/U0PbNPDAD1)

I had a firm memory foam mattress for YEARS and I just recently upgraded to a plush pillow top beautyrest mattress and it has changed my life. For me personally, firm was not the answer. I do have a firm memory foam side sleeper pillow though! (Eli and Elm)

A "natural" mattress is going to have a bunch of connotations. 1st by Federal law, every mattress and foundation must have fire retardant layers. Most organic materia that would be suitable for beddingl is not fire retardant. 2nd, most natural materials that are comfortable tend to breakdown faster than man made materials. Beautyrest tried putting a layer of silk, alpaca wool and cashmere into the last generation of Beautyrest Black in order to make their product more competitive with the trend. It failed so bad that people still think all beautyrest black mattresses are bad, even though the line got discontinued a year or so ago. The unfortunate truth is that to get natural materials in a bed that are both durable and comfortable, you end up at high end mattresses like the higher end Kingsdown lines and even then they're not ALL natural Just like latex that's actually natural and durable, it becomes cost prohibitive after a point. Certipur certification is the Standard for ensuring there's no VOCs and that a mattress won't be hazardous to your health. Im also personally skeptical of any warranty period longer than a manufacturer has existed. (Looking at practically all DTC beds) Especially when the manufacturer has affiliate links on every click bait article about mattresses. Note: these are my opinions as a long time employee of a very large mattress retailer.

This answer somewhat depends on price range due to the qualities of materials found in each technologies at different prices. In the sub 600ish range, foam will likely be more comfortable, as there is more pressure relieving materials in them. Typically, if looking at innerspring mattresses, you definitely want wrapped or pocketed coils. (The more of them, the merrier, if they're going to provide a minimal amount of them, at least make sure their zoned so it FEELS more substantial.(most of the time that companies use zoned coils its so they can use 25-40% less coils and still have the bed not feel like complete trash On top of that, you probably want good pressure relieving materials on top of those coils, if you don't see the word "memory" it typically means they're using either a support foam ( very hard) or they use poly fill foam (soft but you sink down to the support layer faster) The Gel foam is typically gel beads added to that foam to make it a bit more supportive and MAYBE a touch of temperature regulation Then you get to the $2,000+ range and your comparing Tempurpedic vs entry Stearns or high end Posturepedic. I know Tempurpedic gets a lot of hate. My pick between them is the Tempur-Pedic simply due to low return rates Up to the $3,000, I personally prefer the luxury innerspring mattresses from beautyrest black or the lux estate lines .. the proadapt and purple restore lines don't have quite enough support in their 12" profile The LuxeAdapt Medium Hybrid is Personal favorite mattress on MF floors The luxebreeze, summit and reserve are definitely nuanced. I personally find the breeze material to add an unwanted extra firmness layer and I don't sleep hot. The Reserve is pretty 🔥 Hope this helps.
