If you’re over 350lbs or a stomach sleeper, the Big Fig clasic is a good option. It sucks horribly for side sleepers and is not great for back sleeping, or if you’re 300lbs or less. I’m 5’11” around 290, combo back and side sleeper, and I’m looking at either the Helix Plus Elite, Sleep Number i8, or the Stearns and Foster Lux Estate to replace my underwhelming Big Fig mattress after only 4yrs. I HIGHLY suggest trying before you buy and not buying blindly.

**Update**: thanks to everyone who shared recommendations! after digging through the comments I decided to go with [Big Fig](https://reddit-out.link/big-fig). chose it because it supposedly has better airflow that doesn’t trap heat like foam only beds and is firmer. already put it to the test and have been sleeping on it for a couple of days now and so far it’s definitely cooler than my old mattress. Not ice cold or anything but I’m enjoying a cooler sleep and no longer waking up drenched in sweat every night lol Okay so apparently my current mattress doubles as an oven. I’m a hot sleeper (always have been) but lately it feels like my bed traps every bit of heat and turns my bedroom into a sauna by 3am. already tried the usual hacks, cooling sheets, lighter blankets, cranking the AC but honestly I think it’s just the mattress at this point. will appreciate any recommendations please. I’ve seen some ads for “cooling gel memory foam” but idk if that’s just marketing BS or if it actually works. some people say latex is better for airflow? others say to get a hybrid with coils?? just generally confused at this point if you’ve actually found a mattress that doesn’t trap heat, please let me know. would really appreciate any reply!

I’m on my second Big Fig and I LOVE IT. I didn’t wear one out, I lost one in a divorce to a perfectly normal sized man!

So I’ve had the big fig now for 6yrs and it’s still holding up strong. Granted it’s a lot more firm than some people like but I love it! My next one will be the Saatva HD mattress which my friend has and that one felt amazing also. I’m 6’0 350 male

imo "cooling gel" is marketing fluff since foam in general tends to trap heat no matter how many buzzwords they slap on it. if you’re a legit hot sleeper, airflow is everything. latex and hybrids with coils both do way better because there’s space for air to move I run hot too and ended up switching to a hybrid from Big Fig and it’s literally one of the most favorite adult things I've ever bought. the coils keep it breathable and it’s firm enough that you don't sink in and overheat

I DO NOT recommend big fig. They are SO uncomfortable. I got the luxe which is supposed to be the softest ones they have and this shit is like sleeping on the floor. My back hurts so bad I’ve actually bought 2 pillow tops in hopes of salvaging it. I’ve had it for a month so I can still send it back but getting it was a fuckin nightmare to begin with I don’t wanna deal with getting another mattress if I can make this work. It also sags on the edges like a mf. I’ll actually slide off if I don’t sit ALL the way back with my knees to the mattress. I weigh 275 now so I’m not even near the top of their market demographic considering they’marketing these to people 500lbs+. It has not been pleasant in MY experience

I have struggled with mattresses since we got married 15 years ago. We have been through several. My husband always wanted a super soft mattress that he could sink into. He is also a very large man. I had back problems for years and finally put my foot down. We bought a "big fig" mattress and it has been amazing. It is quite firm so we added a foam mattress topper. We have had it for several years now. I checked it recently because it is still under warranty and it has less than an inch of sag on his side and basically none on my side. My back problems are non existent. It was pricey, but worth it. Ours is a cal king and it was $1500 ish
