I have the Birch Luxe and love it. Sleepline has the most accurate review for it that I've found (lines up with my own experience): https://www.sleepline.com/birch-luxe-natural-review
I'm really happy with my Birch mattress. Eco friendly and comfy too. Look up "Birch natural mattress review sleepline" on Google. Its the best review I found for it that actually says both good and bad things about it.
Yep, the Luxe version is definitely worth the upgrade.
Love the Birch Luxe. It's medium-firm which works perfect for us (both side sleepers). Only downside is it's HEAVY. Like we can barely move it when changing sheets HAHA
Birch Natural is a genuinely good pick for allergies, latex coils cotton and wool are all naturally hypoallergenic so you're in good territory there. The main difference with the Luxe is just the added pillow top and extra latex layer so if you want more surface cushioning it's worth the upgrade, if not the regular is fine. If you want another certified option to compare maybe check out Brooklyn Bedding's EcoSleep Luxe too, organic cotton and natural latex with eco credentials so it checks the same boxes at a different price point.
We just ordered the Birch Luxe Natural mattress, after a lot of time trying to decide. We are mostly side sleepers as well. We went to showrooms to try the Saatva, Helix, Leesa. We liked the Helix Luxe best of those. Birch, owned by Helix, uses natural and organic materials. I will post back in a few weeks to let you know how our sleep is!
We looooove our Birch Living Luxe mattress with topper. We say it's like sleeping on a cloud. We ended up buying one for our camper, too.
SAME MAMA. Highly recommend Birch Luxe if you run hot. I swear that thing breathes better than I do LOL plus, it’s one of the few organic ones that doesn’t smell weird
So latex was the right call initially, but sounds like the Ecosleep might've been too soft or not durable enough for two people. For what you're describing like back support, cooling, antimicrobial, long-term durability, the Birch Luxe is basically fit.
I’d suggest the Birch Luxe Latex with a foam topper. I’m also a side sleeper, 250 ish. Bad back. I went with the Next Owl (latex) in medium with a 3 memory foam topper. The Birch was my runner up. I love my Nest. No regrets. Love their policies. I suggested the Birch instead, simply because it’s probably something that was already on your list. It’s a great mattress and solid option . Hope this helps!
We’re happy with our birch luxe mattress. It sleeps well all the way to the edge which is great for when kiddo climbs into bed with us and we really need to use the whole space. It is quite heavy though. It’s a lot harder to move than whatever we had before.
