You want r/mattress instead of bifl. The person who said latex is right though. I have one from Dreamfoam, the soft option, and it’s been great although I do weigh less than you so medium might be a better fit.
You should check out a hybrid latex mattress. Mattresses have 3 parts to them. The base layer which can be coils or latex. Coils will give you a bounce like a standard mattress and sleeps cooler than a base layer of latex which gives a dead feeling. Support layer of latex. As it says it gives you the needed support. In your case with your weight I would think a firm support layer is needed. The last layer is the comfort layer. 2 xl twins = a king. In your case I'm thinking a medium blended Talalay and for her a soft blended Talalay. Blended Talalay gives better durability than all Talalay and is softer than Dunlop latex which is harder and less expensive. I'm 217 mostly a side sleeper and bought this in firm for my base and support layer. https://dreamfoambedding.com/products/elements-latex-mattress My bought this in medium for my comfort layer. https://www.mattresses.net/queen-talalay-latex-topper-sale.html You can also do some research here https://mattressunderground.com The forum was especially helpful for me
I’m also a Titan user. Bought mine from Brooklyn Bedding in 2021 & it’s still holding up amazing. Back then, we decided to go with the Titan Firm Hybrid, but I don’t believe they offer that model any longer. I rotate it once or twice a year.
I have a Brooklyn bedding medium mattress that is comfy for side sleeping! I’ve been cosleeping with baby on it since she was 7 months old.
Brooklyn bedding hybrid, I'm now a big fan of hybrid foam/spring mattresses for support and longevity (our previous memory foam mattress from Ikea now definitely has a person shaped hollow in it)
If you run hot, I’d check out Brooklyn Bedding or Plank before grabbing straight memory foam. BB hybrids move air way better so you’re not waking up sweaty. Plank helps too since you stay on top of the mattress instead of melting into it. Makes a big difference at like 3 AM when everything feels warm. I’d test a medium-firm hybrid at home and see if it keeps you dry.
For that budget Brooklyn Bedding or RV Mattress are better value than Nectar. Factory direct so you're not paying markup. Both have home trials. About the FB Marketplace ones, prob overstock but you're gambling w/ no warranty. Buying direct is safer.
I’d look at RV Mattress first since their stuff actually comes in those weird RV sizes and holds up better than the thin pads most rigs ship with. If you want something with more backbone, Brooklyn Bedding has some solid hybrids that last way longer for full time use. Just measure your frame and pick a height that won’t slam into your cabinets and you’re good.
I swear by my Brooklyn Bedding hybrid mattress. Heaviest at 290 it was perfect for me AND my husband who isn’t plus size. It was recommended to us by our friends and the guy is 6’2, 200 something with back problems and it is the best financial investment we have ever made.
I swear on my Brooklyn Bedding mattress. My friend is 6’2 larger male and got us on it and it’s the best mattress we’ve ever slept on. It’s a hybrid but sooooo nice.
u/Derek-naplab [Naplab.com](http://Naplab.com) Used them when I bought my last mattress and I love it so much. I ended up with the Brooklyn Bedding hybrid. I'm a large guy and my wife isn't small. We do rotate it when the time changes, so twice a year.
OK, I tried making a post about this but it kept getting deleted by filters. I'm shopping for a new mattress. I spent a week last month sleeping at my aunt and uncle's place where their guest bed is a Brooklyn Bedding Hybrid. I liked it pretty well, though it could have been, like, a notch softer. The problem is, they don't remember what firmness level they bought. I'm 5'9", \~230lbs and almost exclusively a side sleeper. I get pressure points in my hips/lower back and shoulders and can sometimes have problems with my bottom arm falling asleep. My question is, should I got with a medium from BB or go with the firm and get a topper if that's too firm? Is the topper you can bundle in with the mattress worth the \~$200 upcharge?
