Mattress shopping is def overwhelming w/ all the options. Look at Brooklyn Bedding or Leesa instead of those big names. Brooklyn Bedding's Signature Hybrid gives you solid support and comes in different firmness levels, plus factory direct pricing keeps it way cheaper. If you sleep hot their Aurora Luxe has actual cooling tech. Leesa's Sapira Hybrid is another balanced option that works.
IMO look for hybrid mattresses with individually encased coils and high-density foam. They should give you the best bang for your buck in terms of longevity and support. Factory-direct brands cut out the middleman markup, so you're getting better materials at lower prices. Brooklyn Bedding's Signature Hybrid is a solid example with good foam density and 8"" coils for good edge support.
You could check out something like the Signature Hybrid from Brooklyn Bedding since the medium feel hits that nice balance for side sleepers without messing up your back. If you end up wanting way more support, Plank is super firm and you can always throw a topper on it to soften it a bit.
I bought a Brooklyn bedding signature hybrid mattress about 5 years ago and it's still going strong. It was about 1k back then. My husband and I used to weigh about 200 lbs each and it never developed an indent or anything. Highly recommend.
We have 2 mattresses from Brooklyn Bedding and have been happy with them. Our first one is 7 years old and we’re using it in our guest bedroom, everyone who sleeps on it comments that they have a great sleep. The one in our bedroom is 5 years old and we’ve had no issues with sagging or anything like that. I really like it and miss it when I’m away from home. Would buy from there again and they’re not crazy expensive.
I swear by my Brooklyn Bedding hybrid mattress. Heaviest at 290 it was perfect for me AND my husband who isn’t plus size. It was recommended to us by our friends and the guy is 6’2, 200 something with back problems and it is the best financial investment we have ever made.
u/Derek-naplab [Naplab.com](http://Naplab.com) Used them when I bought my last mattress and I love it so much. I ended up with the Brooklyn Bedding hybrid. I'm a large guy and my wife isn't small. We do rotate it when the time changes, so twice a year.
OK, I tried making a post about this but it kept getting deleted by filters. I'm shopping for a new mattress. I spent a week last month sleeping at my aunt and uncle's place where their guest bed is a Brooklyn Bedding Hybrid. I liked it pretty well, though it could have been, like, a notch softer. The problem is, they don't remember what firmness level they bought. I'm 5'9", \~230lbs and almost exclusively a side sleeper. I get pressure points in my hips/lower back and shoulders and can sometimes have problems with my bottom arm falling asleep. My question is, should I got with a medium from BB or go with the firm and get a topper if that's too firm? Is the topper you can bundle in with the mattress worth the \~$200 upcharge?
Where are you located? Check out SleePare which has like a dozen locations around the country. They have all the online brands in the store to try out and buy. I only learned of them years after I bought my last mattress. But I did a ton of online research and then also got overwhelmed and I decided to split the difference of all the things I vs my wife wanted to compromise. Ended up with a hybrid from Brooklyn Bedding and got lucky. We love it and have had it for 5 years now. Still love it. Brooklyn is great because they have 3 different options of firmness (soft, medium, or firm) for almost every mattress they carry.
I really liked my Brooklyn bedding mattress - lost it in a breakup or else I’d probably still be sleeping on it. I bought it maybe 8 years ago so hopefully quality is still the same. They’re pretty affordable so you could get the more premium version in your price range.
