This is also me. I've trialed a bunch now and currently have the Costco Casper 12" cooling foam mattress. I'm only a week in but it's the first one that hasn't caused me pain so far. I wouldn't recommend going super soft, this was my mistake with the others but rather look for a medium.
Similar stats and same issues 😭 Don't go with the Costco Casper 12" all foam next, it's extremely comfortable but so soft and softer than the Leesa legend. I have the Costco Casper hybrid right now and have much more support so far, hoping my pain goes away but only slept on it two nights so far.
I recently got the Casper cooling all foam and it's very comfortable but too soft for me. Id say it feels like a 4.5- 5/10 as a 130lb side/stomach sleeper.
Get a Casper mattress from Costco! I regularly stay with family and they have a Costco Casper mattress in their guest room. I love that bed and always sleep so well on it. It recently went on sale at Costco so I now have my own Casper mattress. For reference, I previously had a Purple mattress and while it was fine overall, I like the Casper much more. I got the Cooling Select 12" Memory Foam Mattress. Note that Costco also sells the Cooling Select 12" Hybrid Medium Firm Mattress. I'm not sure of the difference in terms of comfort and firmness, but the hybrid does cost at least $300 more.
I had a Purple bed that I paid retail price for. I just got a Casper bed at Costco, less than $1k and I'm super happy with it. If you really like Purple, Costco has some for under $1700.
I work for Hamuq (Canadian mattress company), I also spend way too much time talking about mattresses so I’ll just give you my honest take. Under $600 at Costco, all of the ones you listed are memory-foam heavy, which can feel okay at first but often lacks support for combo sleepers, especially when you’re a bit heavier on one side of the bed. Here’s a quick rank for medium-firm feel for side + back sleepers: 1. Tuft & Needle 9.5" — Best all-around choice here * Simpler foam, more responsive, less sink-in feel than the rest * Better for combo sleepers than plush gel/memory options 2. Casper Cooling Select 12" — Good second choice * Slightly more contouring than T&N but still balanced * Cooler feel if that matters 3. Sleep Science Align IQ — Might feel too soft * Euro-top + memory tends to contour deeply → pressure points over time 4. Novaform 14" — Too plush for your “medium-firm” goal * Lots of foam, deep sink, can make alignment worse 5. Comfort Tech Serene Foam II — Very basic * Feels inexpensive and lacking support for most adults General advice: at this price point, strong innerspring/hybrid support isn’t in the list, so focus on the least sinky/most responsive foam model, that’s why I lean toward Tuft & Needle or Casper. If you find these still feel too soft or you really want better spinal support, it’s worth considering something built with zoned support and firmer base layers, the type of thing we focus on at Hamuq, because memory foam alone rarely gives the support combo sleepers need long term. Hope this helps!
I would not recommend the Casper mattress. I purchased it last month (DEC 2025) and requested they pick it up before the year ended. I wanted to love the mattress. I am a combo sleeper, 41F and am about 180. Night one, I slept like a baby. Night 2 on I had lower back pain due to the lack of support in the mattress. It is like sleeping in a hammock. I don’t mind sinking if there is support, but there is very little with this mattress. Also, no edge support. Yet the cooling feature is wonderful. Again, I sleep on my back, side, and sometimes stomach and wouldn’t recommend this mattress at all. Until my new mattress comes, I am sleeping on my couch, except when I feel like rolling up sheets and towels for additional lumbar support in an attempt to get some use out of the bed.
Im planning to return the Casper cooling select in the next few weeks. Had it a year. I’m 135 pounds and side sleeper and there is a significant dip now by my hips that never goes away at this point. I wouldn’t get that one. I’ve been sleeping in my guest bed mattress a lot lately bc of this. It’s a discontinued foam mattress. Also following to see what others say about other options.
I bought a Casper mattress from Costco 2 years ago. I love it. I have major spine issues. I’ve spent almost $10 grand on mattress/box springs in the past 10 years. I finally gave up and slept in a recliner for close to 8 months. I have been in my bed every night since the Casper and it does not require a box spring.
