My husband and I are in need of a new mattress. For context, we own a queen size original Casper memory foam mattress purchased in 2018. I have had shoulder and neck pain from it for the past few years, but recently it is becoming much worse. Weight/height: I am 105lbs, 5ft and my husband is 170lbs, 5’9”. Sleep position: I am a combo, but mostly side and stomach. I toss and turn a lot. My husband is primarily a back sleeper, sometimes side. Current issues: The mattress provides me no support and creates a lot of neck and shoulder pain. I think I am too light to sink into it. Especially obvious when my husband is also in bed because all of the support falls on his side and I feel like I’m rolling into him. There is also no edge support which we kinda need on a queen sized bed. My husband experiences periodic back and shoulder pain, but has admitted he doesn’t have as many issues as I do (hence why I’m writing this post). I have found I sleep far better on hotel beds, Japanese futons and my couch (where I end up half the time lol). I am looking at the following mattresses: \- Tempurpedic pro adapt medium hybrid \- Winkbed luxury firm \- Saatva Classic in luxury firm (or plush soft? Not sure yet) My budget is $2,500 Anyone similar size as me have experience with these mattresses?
So while I haven’t got any from Amazon, nor Vine. I purchased a Casper a decade ago that has held up amazingly. Initially I wanted an inexpensive mattress for a guest bedroom. It is way better than our much more expensive Sealy that was purchased a year prior. The basic Casper has been my main mattress for years. It gets jumped on, moved around on. While it is now my daughter’s room, I still sleep on it every night. She’s 3 1/2, my husband has a cpap and loves to take up well over half the bed, so i started to sleep in another room a long time ago for a better night sleep. And had back pain from the Sealy sagging so much, that just went away with the Casper. I am so surprised at how well this mattress has held up and I think it has many years left. I am heavy set, so it surprises me even more I am not dealing with sagging a decade later.
I've been sleeping on a 1st gen Casper for years now and I still love it. Even the basic model is great and you can go lay on them on the Casper store in the Marina. I wonder how the Costco versions are.
For me there was a huge comfort bonus when I discovered mattresses with zoned support, meaning firmer at center 1/3 and softer at the ends. As a 5’4” woman I have found my Original Casper, which had zoned support, the most comfortable mattress ever, and I bought several of them, including for my AirBnb. I get asked what that mattress is often. Now they have The Dream which has 3 zones and The Dream Max which has 7. To me, though, it’s just impossible to choose something with the same firmness throughout, that is going to be comfortable. It’s like we have to pick something that works for our hips and breasts, and that makes zero sense. So whatever mattress company you look at…this is what I’d want to find from them. Many do it. It costs more. It’s totally worth it.
I have the Casper. We got it while selling our home so that we could leave the home in show condition and still have a place to sleep in our apartment. 90 days later we were sold. Even on the floor it was great. It is thick so not as much need for a boxspring. Also some sheets may not fit
I have the Casper. We got it while selling our home (Oct 2020) so that we could leave the home in show condition and still have a place to sleep in our apartment. 90 days later we were sold. Even on the floor it was great. It is thick so not as much need for a boxspring. Also some sheets may not fit due to the depth. That said some of the really soft memory foams you will have trouble with getting out of bed or straddling someone etc. The Casper seems to be a bit firmer and maybe not as bouncy but doesn’t seem to impede movement like my first all memory foam mattress. I think it’s to do with the layers of a Casper 🤷♀️
I have an original Casper mattress and it’s held up great. It’s comfy. No indents or unevenness even though I only sleep on one side and don’t rotate it. No complaints at all almost 6 years in. I got it at a Casper store but I have seen them at Costco as well.
The Casper original is literally hard as a rock 😭 I have hip pain, wake up with numb arms and am finally getting rid of it after two years. Absolutely not good for side sleepers but it feel like it was advertised for all sleeping positions
I’m a side and stomach sleeper and my partner is a back and side sleeper. We both love our firm Casper mattress.
