I’ve had my Dreamcloud Classic Hybrid for 3 years now, and exclusively sleep on my side. I'm 31F, 165lb, and short. I’ve slept on all locations of the mattress from side to side including flipping it and every spot ends up “wearing out”, dipping at the hips after several months, and causing my hips to hurt while sleeping (not large enough dips for the warranty). I also discovered that my Pottery Barn bedframe has slats positioned 4+ inches apart, so will need to get a Bunky Board or more slats before I get the next one. I LOVE the overall softness balance of this topping of this mattress and its body's general firmness. I want to get a mattress with similar medium to medium-firm feel, and am particular about the topping feeling - I love the gel infused memory foam that’s tufted/quilted (don’t like latex or pure memory foam toppings that are just like a slab of memory foam). Wouldn’t mind cooling properties but it’s not a must. I'm thinking I'll need zoned lumbar support to prevent from the next one wearing out at the middle again. I tried the Sealy Posturepedic Elite Brenham II 15” medium in store and liked it but didn’t like it as much as Dream cloud. I then tried the Dreamcloud Pressuresmart Plush Pillow Top (which is more of a medium) and LOVED it, but feel like I would be crazy to get another Dreamcloud after having issues with this one only 3 years in. Anyone else have a similar predicament and find a good Queen bed replacement, (ideally $2k and under but will entertain higher if it’s spectacular)?
I recently bought the DreamCloud Pressure Smart Plush in a Queen at Mattress Firm and they threw in the free adjustable frame. $999, free delivery and set up. It's a tad firm at first but it's getting better and better these first 2 weeks. I read all the negative reviews here on DC's but this new model may be better than previous ones and the price is right. Check it out.
Note that our Dreamclouds don't have much in common with the website ones. They built ours to our specs, and ours have a much more traditional feel. I'm a lot happier with them than I expected to be when they announced them last year.
I don’t have AS but I do have chronic back issues, and my dreamcloud has been great for support while still having a bit of cushion for side sleeping. It’s on the medium-firm side, so not rock hard, but it’s kept my spine feeling a lot better than other mattresses I’ve tried.
If you prefer semi-firm do not get the nova form. 100% memory foam will not provide the support you want. I had a dreamcloud before the one I bought and I’m thinking about going back. My hips and lower back are death on a stick every morning
Mattresses are difficult to recommend. I loved my Dream cloud mattress until I lost a ton of weight and then it was too firm for me. I am a hot sleeper as well, I would recommend getting a good quality set of 100% bamboo or lyocell sheets and blankets. Linen is also great, but the already soft kind is quite expensive
