I'm 215lb and just got the Engineered Sleep duo latex hybrid. Best mattress I've ever slept on but a bit on the steeper end for a good quality hybrid. The cheapest quality hybrid I've researched is the Luxerion Latex hybrid and that one is about $979. If you're willing to splurge, go engineered sleep or Arizona Premium Mattress hybrid. I was between the two and chose ES for no particular reason honestly but APM also has fantastic reviews.
I’ve purchased from SleepEZ the Organic Latex Mattress and the Select Sleep Hybrid, I really like the mattress’ and the service they’ve provided me. The latter mattress does have better edge support if lying down but they’re both fine for sitting. The latter also sleeps cooler but the former is fine so long as you don’t lie in bed for more than just sleeping; both sleep cooler than some foam mattresses I’ve tried. If you don’t need a split firmness latex mattress then you can also consider their sister company [Latex Mattress Factory](https://latexmattressfactory.com/products/luxerion-latex-mattress?variant=13093999476789), some have mentioned contacting them to see if they could use Talalay in the comfort layer if that’s something you’d be interested in. For hybrids that I haven’t tried but you can consider contacting for more information: LMF [Hybrid](https://latexmattressfactory.com/products/luxerion-hybrid-latex-mattress?variant=42673548853301) which isn’t double sided like SleepEZ’s offerings but does use Talalay in the comfort layer; the Engineered Sleep [Duo Latex](https://engineeredsleep.com/products/duo-latex-mattress?variant=19634129862743) is within budget with a 10% code and the company has been great to deal with so far. For the hybrids from SleepEZ/LMF I believe they recommend those above 230lbs not to purchase so you’re still within range but I recommend contacting them, as well as any company you’re considering purchasing from - it’s in their interest and yours to sell you something you won’t want to return. I haven’t used Sleep On Latex but I haven’t considered them since their medium latex layer is what others sell as firm but they do appear to be great to deal with.
I have been sleeping on a medium firm mattress from engineered sleep. All American made and no smell at all. I’m allergic to everything and it was a God send
Update: So we tried the Bedjet with their recommended cloud sheets, and that made sleeping on the Sealy Posturepedic tolerable. If you don't move around in your sleep, it works pretty well to keep the air flowing under the blanket, and you stay very comfortable. If you DO move around, and the top sheet doesn't stay put, or the air escapes, you'll wake up hot, or just your feet will get uncomfortably cold. To be clear, when it works, it is quite nice. But at $1300, (nearly the price of a new mattress), we decided it was not a very good value for it to only work some of the time, so we returned it. If it were $4-500, we probably would have kept it. We ordered the Nolah Evolution in Luxury Firm, which the company claims uses special non-memory foam material that breathes exceptionally. But after trying it out, it was actually pretty similar as far as getting hot. Just more claims of "cooling" that last 20 minutes, then turn into a heater. We then ordered the Engineered Sleep Duo Latex mattress, and found that it is the best we have tried, and we no longer wake up in a pool of sweat. The split design should allow it to last longer than a conventional one-piece mattress. We have finally gotten restful sleep after the nightmare of mattress shopping and are very happy with our purchase. Additionally, the bedroom temperature remains 72-74, and we are quite comfortable. We also ordered a set of 100% cotton sheets and blankets, which also made a difference. The breathability is quite obvious. Mattress Firm sold us $170 "cooling sheets" when they sold us the Sealy mattress, but apparently, they also hold the heat and didn't help the issue.
I’m in Canada. Did a whole bunch of research starting holiday season last year. Ended up ordering the Duo Latex Plus from Engineered Sleep back in April. Paid 25% tariffs, fees, duties and all to import into Canada from the US. No regrets.
Got one because of the positive feedback on their mattresses and customer service in r/mattress. They weren’t wrong, I love it.
I've had the Duo Latex Plus for a couple months now and absolutely love it. I am a lightweight side/back sleeper (mostly side) and this is the most comfortable bed I've ever had. It does really depend on individual preferences for softness, but I'm happy. I also bought the adjustable bed frame and wish I'd done that years ago.
I still love the mattress and the adjustable frame. There aren't really traditional springs involved and I haven't had any problem using the mattress with the adjustable frame.
I purchased from engineered sleep and they’ve been incredible! I have MS and suffer from back pain, especially when waking. I started with the duo latex plus, that didn’t help so they told me to give the latex plus topper to my sister (who’s sleeping on it wonderfully! And will be buying from them in the future) and sent me the regular latex topper, also no help. They sent me a new memory foam base, still not working for my back so they sent a new 4lb memory foam topper which has been great but still not perfect so trying out that new topper with the latex or memory foam base. Working with them has been wonderful and it feels like they really are trying to help me wake pain free, it’s awesome!
I got a latex mattress from Engineered Sleep in Greenville SC. They deliver. It has a flippable base (for your hard/soft preference) and a 4” topper. It’s heavenly!
