We bought the ghost bed. If you like a firm mattress, you would probably not prefer it.

According to my email, it was the Luxe 13” memory foam mattress with adjustable base. It is not crazy plush. It just is definitely not firm. We hate firm mattresses.

I purchased one of the ghost beds at Costco. It seems just like the regular version. No problems with it several years later.

I like my Ghost bed Luxe. And especially the pillows it came with. It's another mattress in a box place like Helix and others.

Go medium-firm hybrid with coils and a breathable or PCM cover; it keeps you on top and lets heat escape. I tried the Aurora Luxe in Medium with GlacioTex - cool to the touch for the first 20-30 minutes, then stayed comfortably neutral the rest of the night, way better than my old foam stack. If you go Aurora, skip thick toppers and bulky protectors, and lean Medium over Plush to avoid sink heat; keep the return window handy. Also worth a look: Helix Midnight Luxe with the GlacioTex cover, Bear Elite Hybrid, or a latex hybrid like Saatva if you want more bounce and airflow. I have used Brooklyn Bedding’s Aurora and Helix Midnight Luxe for that instant cool feel, but GhostBed Luxe stayed the most consistently cool for me on desert nights without the slow sticky sink. Practical stuff: aim for 800+ coils in queen, use a slatted base with 2-3 inch gaps, thin Tencel protector, and rotate quarterly. Bottom line: pick a medium-firm hybrid with real airflow and a thin cool cover, not a thick foam stack.

Bought the Ghostbed Luxe and was quite disappointed at first. But this was truly a mattress that needed to be broken in. Now I have no more sore back or pressure points. Wife also did not like it - I asked her the other day if she wanted to go mattress shopping. Her response? She’s also happy with how it’s broken in. Took a solid four months, but very happy with it now. Price was also good for a split king motion bed through Costco.

I love our split king ghost bed. Has held up well over the 4ish years we’ve had it.

I love my ghost bed with a 2" foam topper, still firm but not so firm to irritate the enthesitis. Side note - my sleeping got so much better / pain decreased when I trained myself to fall asleep on my back with a pillow under my knees. I wake at some point and then move to side sleeping. Also make sure to sleep with a pillow between your knees when on your side. All these changes maybe a bit uncomfortable at first but worth it in the long run,.

If you’re 6'3", 230 lbs, sleep hot, and like firm, you need to be picky at Costco. I’ve tested and returned a few, and here’s the reality. Most “medium” beds there feel softer under heavier bodies. Memory foam models can trap heat and let you sink more than you expect. Great for pressure relief, not always great for support or cooling. For bigger back or combo sleepers, firmer hybrids tend to hold up better. The Casper Cooling Select runs on the firmer side and sleeps reasonably cool, though the cover can feel a bit slick. Novaform Platinum Luxury starts firm and breaks in to medium firm, but it still has some contour. If you hate that deep sink feel like traditional Tempur style foam, avoid anything too memory-foam dominant. I’d personally skip softer GhostBed styles if you want firm. And be cautious with pillow tops that feel amazing for a few months but lose support fast. Big advantage with Costco is the return policy. You can actually live on it and send it back if it fails you. My advice is narrow it to two firmer options, pick one, and truly test it for 30 nights. Don’t judge it in 10 minutes.
