Look up Sleepline reviews. They're the only ones I've found who actually say negative things about the mattresses they review. I have the helix plus luxe and love it. Here's their review of it: https://www.sleepline.com/helix-plus-luxe-review/
Most standard mattresses break down quicker at higher weights, even if they feel firm at first. What you’ll want is something designed specifically for heavier bodies, with stronger coil gauges and higher density foams so the support doesn’t collapse over time. The Helix Plus is one of the few built with that in mind. The Plus Luxe version adds a zoned support system through the middle, which can help keep alignment steady if you deal with back or hip strain. No mattress is really forever, but the Plus line does carry a limited lifetime warranty, which at least gives you some assurance the construction is meant to hold up longer than average.
I am a big fan of the Helix Line, in fact I just got my daughter and fiance a Helix Twilight Luxe several months back. she is 5'3 140 and he is 5'7 165ish. He loved the mattress from day 1, she took about 3 weeks to adjust, as she was transitioning from an old, soft, beat up mattress and was not used to the firmness. Loves it now though. I am surprised at your size, you are not thinking about the Helix Plus Luxe, for you it has a more robust spring support that is 13.5gauge coil support side to side, rather than the Twilight which has zoned support and since your wife is on the petite size may not align well with the zoning. The Plus offers a medium-firm leaning firm feel, with a cushier comfort layer, with more robust support that your body will appreciate, and the medium-firm comfort layer that your wife may prefer over the slightly firmer comfort layer of the Twilight. Even though the Plus is designed for Plus sized folks, I think the uniform zoning and better support may offer you a more comfortable, durable, with more longevity over all. I think a lot of folks overlook the Plus sized 3z mattresses and think that because it has that designation, average sized sleepers can not benefit too. I am 6' 200 and wife is 5'4 135, and we sleep on the BB Plank Luxe, which also has that same 13.5gauge support, with a firmer comfort layer. The plank luxe uses a 6" spring system due to it ability to be flipped, while the Helix uses an 8" coil layer as it is a one sided mattress. FYI, our Plank Luxe is over 3 years old and shows no signs of sagging, dipping or any other compromise. I rotate the mattress every 3 months, and have a very sturdy foundation on our bedframe. These are a couple of key points in adding longevity to a mattress. Either way Helix does a nice job and makes a fine mattress in it's category. Good luck with it, and use it in good health.
I do like the Helix Luxe mattresses, overall. Their pillow tops and zoned construction are a big step up from the Core line of mattresses. As a larger person (300 lbs), I've liked the firmer options in the line, and the Helix Twilight Luxe was supportive enough for me as a back sleeper. One issue is, I don't think it offers the best pressure relief for side sleeping. I prefer the Helix Midnight Luxe for side sleeping. However, I also liked the Helix Plux Luxe, as it's even more supportive, while offering some good pressure relief for me as a side sleeper. At the same time, it will be supportive enough for your wife as a stomach sleeper.
I am 6'7" and weigh around 300 lbs, and I was also a fan of the Titan Plus Luxe. But, if it's not working for you anymore, I can offer a few other options I like for a big and tall mattress. First off, I do like the Saatva HD but, in my experience, it is on the firmer side (definitely much firmer than the Titan Plus Luxe). I didn't get the best pressure relief for side sleeping myself. For side sleeping and extra support at the same time, I'm more a fan of the Helix Plus Luxe and the Leesa Plus Hybrid as well.
So, I only tried the Helix Plus without the pillow top. But, I do know it doesn't have microcoils in its comfort layer like the Titan Plus Elite. I did try the Helix Plus Luxe which has a more normal pillow top, and I imagine it is similar to the Helix Plus with a pillow top added. I will say the Titan Plus Elite has a unique feel because it has microcoils toward the top. This gives it a bouncier feel, which may not work for everyone. I imagine the Helix Plus with pillow top will have more of a "normal" pillow top feel.
If you’re around 280 lbs and mostly sleep on your side, a random “firm” mattress isn’t going to cut it. A lot of them end up throwing your back out of alignment because your shoulders and hips can’t sink in enough. In your case I’d look at the Helix Plus or the Helix Plus Luxe. They’re built for bigger folks, with thicker coils and high-density foams that hold up over time. The Luxe even lets you add the ErgoAlign layer, which gives zoned support and helps with lower back pain. Since they’re hybrids, they run cooler, and the GlacioTex cover actually feels cool to the touch. Fits your budget, and Helix backs it with a limited lifetime warranty, which is pretty rare.
For a plus-size side sleeper, the best bet is a hybrid with strong coils and high-density foam so it lasts longer and keeps its support. All-foam beds tend to wear out faster with more weight. Helix has the Plus and Plus Luxe, which are built for that. The Luxe adds zoned support and a pillow top, and you can add the ErgoAlign layer to help with spinal alignment. Both can be rotated, and the limited lifetime warranty is good peace of mind.
