Also a 130lb side sleeper. I have the nectar premier hybrid, it feels good on my shoulders but it's giving me hip pain from hammocking. I actually laid on the helix sunset luxe and elite today. The sunset luxe feels pretty firm and the sunset elite felt much softer. I'd say if you don't mind the tufted euro top, it's not a bad option but it's so pricey.

I bought the Helix Sunset Luxe about a month ago when it was on sale. I really like it so far! I had an ultra plush Stearns & Foster for years that was killing my back. I like that the Helix has more support. It's not super firm or super soft, it's a medium feel and I'm liking that better than the ultra plush. I'm mostly a side sleeper, sometimes back. I was able to try a few different models in person at the Big Sandy Superstore before buying.

I had similar shoulder issues as a side sleeper. I used the Helix sunset plush for awhile and it was great for my shoulder (after a short break in period). I never had shoulder pain with it, unlike my previous Leesa and Casper. However, I had to turn it in because I felt the hip support was not good and I was getting some back pain. I think that if I got the lumbar support upsell option (forget exactly what they call it), it would have been the perfect mattress. I think I read that for this years model the lumbar support is included automatically but just make sure.

Over the last 5-6 years I went through Leesa, Casper, Helix and finally settled on DLX hybrid, which I really like.

We got two twin xl from Helix a few years ago, both tall and heavy. I disliked mine by one year, my husband still uses his, but he is super easy going and nothing ever bothers him. I went back to my old Saatva which is still excellent after nine years.

r/MattressWhat I’ve learning from this sub…

We’ve been sleeping on a king sized Helix for 9 years, with each side customized just for our preferences (I like a very squishy bed and my husband wants to sleep on a plank of wood), and it’s still in great shape. Easily the best mattress I have ever slept on. We tried a Tempur-pedic and absolutely hated it. Helix mattresses have a unique build, a high density foam foundation topped with a specially designed innerspring layer and then a thick layer of memory foam on top of that. I think that’s what keeps it from eventually sagging in the middle. Ours still feels like it did the day we received it, for real. It doesn’t cause back pain, it fixes back pain! When we have to sleep elsewhere for a few nights for trips, we are always dying to get back to our house so we can sleep on that mattress so our backs will stop hurting. I think they have a trial period with the right to return it if it doesn’t work for you. Whatever you end up going with, I hope you manage to find a good mattress. Good luck!

r/Mattress5'2" & 105lbs, side/sometimes stomach sleeper- why are all mattress so wildly firm?! Please help me find the cloud of my dreams!

I understand that due being lightweight, I don't sink into mattresses much. In 2019, I purchased a Winkbed in Luxury Firm and it was heaven! I could sleep in any position and always woke up refreshed. This is from the very first night. It felt like I was wrapped in a hug all night. Motion isolation was great. Edge support was great. There wasn't a single thing wrong with the bed (except it being insanely heavy - especially in a king) and I only spent 5 minutes researching, if that. Unfortunately, it stayed with my ex. I planned to purchase it again but learned they changed things up in 2021 :/ and I'm not seeing great reviews now. I'm even seeing that the softer feels firm...come on now, Winkbed! I even emailed them to see if they had any old stock somewhere. No dice. I have now spent probably a combined 50 hours researching and am on my third mattress. I'm looking for something under $2k that my body will actually sink into! Or not just sink into and sit atop the coils that I'm not heavy enough to press into. What I've tried so far: **Sleep on Latex in medium** (no softer option) - it way too firm and uncomfortable. Loved that it was eco -friendly and ethically made. It was very heavy. It truly felt rock hard and my body hurt! Customer service was great. **Brooklyn Bedding Signature Signature Hybrid in medium with cooling pillow top** \- again, way too firm. I only got medium based off of a reddit review from someone around my size. The pillow top was not soft at all. I could feel where it dipped in the quilting (very deep dips imo, like potholes) and my body ached. it was softer than the Sleep on Latex, though. Didn't love the $99 return fee... **Helix Sunset** \- this is what I'm currently sleeping on. I tried it out at CB2 and it was significantly softer there. It was so wonderfully squishy and plush throughout. I didn't even care that random people watched me lay on it in what is mostly a furniture store. I ordered the sunset and...idk what I got but it is not that mattress from in-store! I've had it for a month and it's still far too firm. Softer than the other 2 by at least a bit but disappointing as it feels nothing like what I tried out. They are telling me it will get softer. I would have gone with the Luxe but trying that out in the store, I found the same issue with being able to feel the quilting/"potholes". Debating whether to accept a free topper as that's what the other two companies offered when I requested a return. I didn't accept those times but I am feeling defeated. I feel like I've read every post about people my size or about people looking for a truly soft mattress. My upper back hurts, my ribs REALLY hurt. I think I might be sinking in the top layer but then hit what I think are the hard coils? It's hard to know what is going on. I haven't had a goodnight's sleep all year. All mattresses were tried for at least a month. I have only been able to sleep on my back on all three and wake up with a lot of pain. My throat is dry because I think sleeping on my back leads to me sleeping with my mouth open. If I sleep on my side, I get even worse rib and chest pain. Please help! Are you or is someone you know around my weight? Please let me know what you/they use! I think I need something extra soft, something others would find to be too soft. Mattress shopping kills one's spirit.

Sorry I missed this! Sorry your tooth extraction was so expensive. That is outrageous. I hope you’re able to get dental insurance sometime soon! I have never even heard of either of those brands. Did you get to try them? Have you found the one? I settled on the helix sunset with the soft topper they sent me as I was sick of lugging mattresses but I don’t like it one bit and regret settling.

I did not, sadly. I settled on the helix as I just couldn’t take it anymore. They sent a special topper that took weeks to arrive and it helped but this is definitely not the bed of my dreams. I sleep fine but have never once thought “this bed is so comfortable.” It’s just okay. Good luck to you!

I would take a look at helix, Leesa, Brooklyn bedding. I bought my helix midnight elite from a retailer, so I had a chance to try a lot of different options. Personally the Winkbed did not live up to the hype for me. Even the luxe helix models felt much nicer. I also really liked the Nolah evolution.

With your weight the most important thing is a mattress with firm coils and dense foams, otherwise it’ll sag pretty quickly. The Helix Plus is made for bigger bodies and holds up well while still being comfortable. The Luxe version adds a bit more lumbar support and a top layer that can help with back pain. Big Fig is also a solid choice, but I’d look at both before deciding. Helix also offers a long warranty, which gives some peace of mind.

We just ordered the Birch Luxe Natural mattress, after a lot of time trying to decide. We are mostly side sleepers as well. We went to showrooms to try the Saatva, Helix, Leesa. We liked the Helix Luxe best of those. Birch, owned by Helix, uses natural and organic materials. I will post back in a few weeks to let you know how our sleep is!

r/FrugalBest mattress under 1000 dollars that actually last? I'm done with fugazis/lemons

I was told by a friend of mine's wife who was in the mattress business for ages, that coil turns is the way you want to go. Meaning it's not only the number of coils themselves, but also the amount of turns in each coil. That being said, I've been sleeping on a helix for a couple years, and couldn't be happier. I found a local dealer, stopped by on some holiday weekend "best sale of the year" type of thing, and the owner beat the the price direct from helix by quite a bit. So don't overlook the little place that offers a bed in a box type of thing.

My helix has the cooling top. I also have a rest evercool comforter paired with it. I don't think the mattress cover is a gimmick. But I would also say to temper your expectations. It's not exactly cold underneath you. But it is cooler than it would be without one. I combined mine with a cooling mattress pad, and I found it to be too cool. The cooling cover on the helix, plus a regular mattress pad is just right for me.

I sleep on a helix in my bedroom. It's a bed in a box type of thing, and personally I love it. Best bed I've ever slept on. I found a local dealer, she showed me the best price that they had on their website with coupons and whatever, and then beat it by quite a bit. When my son needed a new mattress, we went back to her, and she sold us her floor model for dirt cheap. So I'd say don't overlook floor models. That said we have a zinus in our camper. We got ours from Sam's (I try to avoid the big A at all costs, but you can get them there too). I'm old, and fat, but it gets the job done. It will never replace my helix as my favorite mattress ever, but it does provide me a decent night's sleep. And for a lot less.
