Honestly, I’ve bought firm IKEA mattresses and then put a 3+ inch memory foam topper on it and it’s fantastic. Definitely get a firm spring or hybrid mattress. In my opinion, the firm alone is too firm, but the topper gives it the perfect give and the mattress doesn’t sag in the middle. You can also get the combo for <$600 easily. Wouldn’t recommend the medium firm though - my bf got this version of my same mattress and it started sinking pretty fast so we ended up exchanging it for my original firm model.
Ikea Haugesund replacement. After buying comfortable mattresses and getting low back pain I have come to the conclusion that my husband’s twin Ikea Haugesund Firm with a 3” SOL soft topper to be what minimizes my back pain. The Haugesund is a pocket spring with a layer of foam on top and retailed for $249 for a twin. Unfortunately Ikea discontinued it and the word is the new Ikea models are a poor replacement. Ive been trolling FB marketplace for a good used firm Haugesund and picked up a Queen for $100. Its what we are using now with the latex topper sitting on a King frame. If Ikea could make a great basic mattress for cheap what are my options for something similar not from Ikea. Granted I don’t expect to find a replacement for $249 anymore.

I got one from ikea. It’s super firm.
Haugesund. It’s a hybrid I think, but not hot and very firm.
Booo. I’m sure they have something similar. Can’t beat it for the price.
I got the same haugesund mattress around the same time, loved it, but ended up leaving it behind in my travels. Last year, I bought the current equivalent from ikea, and one year later it has significant sagging. Either IKEA mattress quality has dropped off majorly in the past few years or the models are hit and miss.
i love my cheapest possible ikea mattress
i think it’s haugesund probably medium firm
We have a king size Haugesund mattress from Ikea. It’s a hybrid foam/spring mattress. We chose the firmer option. We got it in 2018, and it’s starting to show the earliest signs of sagging. It’s not at a point yet where it’s uncomfortable. I feel like we could rotate it and get another few years from it. We’ve never rotated it. They say a mattress lasts 7-10 years, so it seems like Ikea mattress lifespans are on par.
Seconded! Have the same for about 5 years too and it's still very comfortable.
