'NASA SUPERFOAM 6000 with BEEPFLEX TECHNOLOGY BOLOGY, 18 layers of RARE MATERIALS endorsed by GOD' It would be easier if they just said 'trash'. Having just moved from London to Mumbai, I've found myself battling to find products priced even remotely in line with their quality and built. Nowhere was this more egregious than with mattresses. The Indian mattress market is flooded with outrageously overpriced, low value foam products masquerading as 'advanced sleep technology' - and it seems to be working. I started my search with some very basic requirements: * A proper pocket spring mattress * Heavy duty springs that resist weight rather than moulding around it * Built with materials that actually last * No gimmicks, no marketing slop, just value Having looked online for the big suppliers in India, I ebded uo shortlisting the following, for they all advertise ortho-technology: SleepWell, Duroflex, The Sleep Company, Wakefit and Urban Ladder. What I found was disturbing... No matter the category, 'Ortho', 'Luxury', 'Hotel Style' and the likes, the same thing appeared over and over again: * Layers upon layers upon... layers, of cheap foam * Rebranded firmness levels as 'new technology' * Endless buzzwords And of course, repeated celebrity endorsements from icons that should have retired an entire generation ago. Usually priced between 25k - 50k, and in one case, 90k, for glorified foam? It's insanity. And the worst part? People actually gobble it up! So, heres the 'BuyItForLife' side of things. After searching far and wide, I did find a value bed, suprisingly at Ikea. Slightly overpriced in my opinion, but about as good as it gets in the mainstream Indian market. Built with proper pocket springs, latex, cotton, wool and coconut fibres, with a standard European feel - 'VATNESTRÖM' if anyone is interested, appeared to be the only decent mattress I was able to find over the three days I dedicated to bed searching. It's not perfect, but it isn't foam and it beats all of its competition by a country mile. Frankly, people should be angry at this market. No one should be taking quotes of 25k - 90k for foam seriously. Many of the 'pocket springs' being advertised are also just coil units with foam dumped on top, so be careful when looking around. If you care about longevity, support, and actual engineering, buy springs. Indulging in fake foam tech palaver will just leave you with an expensive block of degrading tat. If anyone does find any other real pocket spring mattresses in the mainstream with a proper build quality, let me know, I'm genuinely interested to see other alternatives that I may have missed. Chiao!

It cost me 49,990 for the king sized mattress. It took three men to get it up to my apartment (narrow elevators in Hiranadani, Powai), and the bed comes whole and flat. \~65kg of pure spring and heavy duty material! Ikea seems to have a reasonable 10 year warranty and 365 trial on this bed too, offering one free exchange at any point throughout the year. It was an instabuy for me after being tortured with foam at every other place I visited. The break in is taking a little bit of time, but that's standard with real ortho pocket-springs, should cosy out within the next month. Try IKEA VATNESTRÖM. The only IKEA mattress that is worth the money.

Ikea VATNESTRÖM is good value if you are low on budget. Don't bother anything below this tier. Just go try it and compare the feeling between the best and 1 tier lower. The difference is very obvious. Don't buy mattress that you can't try.

I know people say buy cheap buy twice or whatever but I love my IKEA mattresses. Had a super king that has now been wonderful for a bit over 4 years and then got a double for a spare room that's been great for a year or so now. Not super long term yet but I don't expect to replace them any time soon.

Seconded! Have the same for about 5 years too and it's still very comfortable.

IKEA pocket Spring mattresses are the best. I've been sleeping on one for the guts of 5 years now (technically my second one, but that was because the first one was unsalvageable after a house fire). They're excellent, and half the price of a similar mattress from anywhere else.
