I have a 5 year old $5k Kingsdown and I'm here researching a replacement already. The center has become so soft my wife and I roll to the center. Would never purchase another.
I've been very happy with Kingsdown, which you can also get at Sleep Country among other chains. It's also Canadian, along with a bunch of other manufacturers that've been listed here
The only way you're going to get away from some motion transfer is by getting a decent coil system. The purple is absolutely one of the worst mattresses for motion transfer out there. Tempurpedic is really good at avoiding but you'll need to go up to the pro adapt soft line for your desired feel. You could also look at some of the Kingsdown mattress', Matt warehouse has a couple that could serve you well. Sunham or Wilcrest.
COSTCO CANADA "KINGSDOWN" mattress. (k/s) Very supportive 2 years in. Don't know if Costco USA carries them.
We recently moved , and went to pick out a new mattress. Together at the store, we laid on several, and selected a Kingsdown mattress. It’s been a wonderful one! I’m menopausal, and take medication that causes even more night sweats, and the mattress is still comfortable. It’s the perfect firm / soft combo as well. Of course, I always use a mattress cover to protect the mattress.
Kingsdown are my favorite. I'm a side sleeper so I went with the softest top, but they have medium and firm as well.
Thanks for doing this! I purchased a Kingsdown mattress this past summer from Sleep Country Canada, cost me nearly $3K. I was told it’s one of the best in the store. At first the mattress was excellent. But now there’s a noticeable dent where I sleep (it’s not memory foam). It’s extremely uncomfortable and I wake up with back pain from the dent . I’m super upset and plan to speak w the store. Any idea as to why this happened or what I should do?
Kingsdown is warrantied for 10 years. You can file a claim on their website. Most retailers don't handle claims, the manufacturer does. But we will always get you the information you need to do it. It's just uploading photos. It will take you about an hour but it's worth it.
If you mean “kingsdown” I am in the process of returning two that had such terrible off gassing they nearly sent me to the ED.
I have purchased two hybrid bed in a box options from Amazon, one for our master and one for our guest room. Both are on boxspring bases. One is bedstory and one is lucid. My husband and I are both larger people and they have held up beautifully over five years. They are both gel memory foam hybrid mattresses with a little give but firm. Both under $1200 for king. I have a third kingsdown mattress that is absolutely fantastic, I believe the Queen version was somewhere in the $700 range when I bought it. It is a standard spring mattress with pillow top. So no , you don’t have to spent big bucks for a great mattress however I would recommend getting a better foundation for your bed, slats are garbage.
