I just ordered this and will receive on Friday! I'm sending back a tempur medium supreme non hybrid that I found to squish down way too far and have horrible response and continued to off gas something awful even after a thorough several day air out. The surface of it felt hard as a rock and then you'd slowing sink in and keep slowly sinking in forever! I didn't like it all except it felt fine if you just were laying on your back only. Side and stomach you'd feel somewhat sunken in a bad way. Maybe the firm would have been better but with the off gassing and slow response I moved on all together. I come from using a 2011 Tempur Cloud Supreme from which has a plush surface and excellent response time. Over the years it's lost it's support so I'm on my third try with the Leesa and praying it works! First tried a bear medium hybrid (hard, okay on back but not on side or stomach, too springy!) then when I saw what trouble the return process and iffy warranty stuff could be switched to costco offering for ease and warranty aspect. Good luck!
I can’t compare, but just today I returned the lessa legend 12” hybrid. It was great, and then it wasn’t. It formed two big indents on each side where me and my husband slept, with a mound between us. It’s a very plush mattress. Im now eyeing the novaform to try. Hoping it goes on sale again
That's so counter-intuitive looking at the two side-by-side. The Legend Medium Plush "looks" firmer than the Oasis Chill Medium Firm because of that Euro Top.
I bought a Leesa Legend this year and it's been the best sleep of my life. Mattresses are a it depends kind of thing so what might be great for me might not be for you. I am a heavy side sleeper with a preference on the softer side. This mattress is a medium plush. Novaform has a great reputation too (after they fixed their fiberglass thing).
Mattresses that are good for you will most likely depend. Your sleeping position, weight and most importantly preference matters. Mattress types also change the feel and also have different advantages (inner spring, memory foam, hybrid, latex). You can go down a rabbit hole. (I'm looking at you The mattress underground) Your best bet is to go to a mattress store and try a bunch of different mattresses. As for recs, $1k is in the low end for a really quality mattress but will probably be great for your five years of law school. I would avoid S brand mattresses, but if you find a great deal then it's fine as well. Based on what you told me, the Novaform Comfort Grande is a great place to start. The 3Z mattress companies I've heard are great from reviews in terms of premium mattresses that aren't overly expensive. I bought a mattress this year and ended up with a Leesa Legend as a heavy side sleeper for under $1k. I trust naplab because I was sampling a purple renew and their take on it was spot on (do not buy for side sleeper) before I returned it. Purple was the most cooling mattress I've slept on though and if I splurged I would have found a model for me probably. If you have access to a Navy exchange the winkbeds seem like a phenomenal deal. Pillows are another rabbit hole. Anyway, hope I got you started on your mattress journey. (The Novaform probably is a great one size fit all go in blind mattress).
Bought a much acclaimed 10" Natural Latex Mattress from Spindle mattress (spindle mattress.com) for 1.7k and it didn't last 3 years before it started to dip. Now trashing it. Went Costco route and got a Leesa Legend hybrid king sight unseen. Loving it
Those newer mattresses you tried rely a lot on softer comfort layers up top, and over time those are usually the first to break down. That’s why they feel great at first, then you start getting that dip in the middle after several months. At your height and weight, you’ll feel that sooner than most. Going with a firm base and a latex topper is a pretty smart way to separate support from comfort. The mattress underneath stays stable and keeps your spine aligned, while the topper handles pressure relief. Latex in particular tends to hold its shape much better than memory foam, so it doesn’t develop those same body impressions as quickly. And when it does wear out, you’re just replacing the topper instead of the entire mattress. The only thing to be mindful of is getting the balance right. If the base is too firm, it can feel like you’re just lying on top of the bed without enough give, especially on your side. On the other hand, the topper thickness really matters since that’s what determines how much cushioning you get. Latex also feels more responsive and a bit “bouncy” compared to memory foam, so it won’t have that slow sink feel you might be used to.
Bought the beauty rest br800 for my kid and it’s pretty good so would imagine the 1000 is even better, skip the novafoam , bought the Leesa Legend and absolutely love it…. Did not look at the chill but heard it’s great
Just ordered the Leesa Legend…. Hoping it works out, but the Oasis gets great reviews for a little firmer bed…
Absolutely the same, if you check through these reddits.. Leesa chimes in and they are the exact same. But you get the warranty with Costco on returns.
Agree! I am fully enjoying my Leesa legend from Costco. Solved my night sweats!
My wife and I share the Leesa legend and are both combo sleepers predominantly side sleepers though. Purchased from Costco. We have been on the Leesa for about 2 months now and we love it. 5’2 170lbs and 6’ 260lbs Both enjoying it! Sleeps nice and cool!
Leesa legend destroyed my lower back. I developed an insane pain in my lower back that was immediately cured by switching out my mattress. Currently on the Casper select cooling. It’s too firm especially for side sleeping. Maybe my partner and I were too heavy for the Leesa I know it’s for lightweight sleepers. How would you suggest the tuft and needle? Big fan of theirs. My favorite mattress I’ve owned was a king sized tufts and needles I was gifted a few years ago. Do you find that it’s enough even though it’s not 12 inches? Is it good for side sleeping? Currently doing the Costco thing as well 😅🫠
So true. I had my Leesa picked up and a literal junk removal came and hauled it. They asked me to throw it outside since they were running late. Fine by me then my dog’s not going nuts. Que a monsoon rain. Guys are over 5 hours late. Goes right into an open garbage truck. I was like dang they do not care one bit 😅😭 Do they even check these for damage before they just chuck them?! Crazy lolol. Mattress must have weighted an absolute ton after that flash flood… My current mattress sounds pretty much the exact same as yours. I need a little less than this medium firm (I hate anything with firm) but enough support. I need that side sleeper bed that’s not going to destroy my lower back. These mattresses are all so firm in the shoulder! I have shoulder issues due to injury but need to sleep on my side for my breathing and GAD. Oy. The never ending mattress game I guess… who woulda thought buying a mattress would be so difficult! Sheesh! Buying a car is much easier than this!!
