I got one here a year ago after a ton of research, been very happy: https://www.mygreenmattress.com/product/kiwi-organic-mattress/ The cotton mattress protector is worth it, it’s washable and waterproof but not plasticy or hot.
I’ve been down this spiral 😅 we have 2 organic mattresses and both are great. My green mattress kiwi is one of the cheaper organic mattresses with only the best materials and is so comfy!! We also have naturpedic eos system which is great but $$$. My understanding is the worst chemicals offgas after 2 years so an old mattress isn’t the worst thing! But if you want a new mattress I would (and did) go for one with all natural materials free from flame retardants, pfas and other chemicals. https://www.mygreenmattress.com/product/kiwi-organic-mattress/?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21202171826&gbraid=0AAAAADcJI7sI-D1eMdSTZB7MKd03GuxXR&gclid=Cj0KCQjwrc7GBhCfARIsAHGcW5XIQeXOWrZZlObyeX02WzYzV1VtIQy7sfPwM-roVTt1_rFgHA_YIkIaAoBREALw_wcB
My household has a latex hybrid (MyGreenMatress) and two all latex mattresses (SleepEZ). Both have different feels. Try to find somewhere local that has both and test them out. My mattress is all latex and I’m very happy with it. I am so glad to rid my home of flame retardants and memory foam.
The mygreenmattress is the Kiwi. I think you would be very happy.
I bought based off recommendation from this subreddit. Thankfully, it has worked out great.
I live near the My Green Mattress store and their beds are very nice! I think that's really a good bet. They have that 365 day trial and the customer support is great. Really nice people and a small local business that's been around for a long time. I've also heard that they really stand by their warranty (should you ever need it). ETA: I would just go with the adult mattress so it's more versatile and can last longer as the child grows up.
We have a full and a queen from mygreenmattress.com (goofy name, quality product). Have had both for 8ish years and they’re excellent. We were specifically shopping for mattresses without synthetic / foam / etc.

We’re also happy with our MGM
I’m not sure what your price point is exactly because I wouldn’t say what we went with is necessarily inexpensive but compared to the Avocado that I wanted to get… we chose My Green Mattress and have been pretty happy with it.
About 2 years. If we could have, I would’ve picked avocado but it was just out of our price range. I think avocado is a bit firmer as well and I much prefer a firmer mattress. MGM is definitely more medium to medium/firm imo.
Best of luck to you and use your mattress in good health. MGM is a fine company and produce a great product. BTW, Naturepedic offers an excellent product, and although you can swap layers if need be, I would not consider it a DIY, as there are actual benefits to their style of mattress. And who knows, you may never need to swap anything. None the less, you did great, with a great company. Just be certain, your foundation is super important. If slatted, the spacing should be less than 3", slats should be around a thickness of 3/4", if only a 1/2" be certain they do not flex while you are sleeping or resting on the mattress, and the slats should be 2-3" wide. If using an adjustable base, the decking should be solid, not metal grid. Since you are getting a natural mattress, stick with cotton or linen sheets. Use a mattress protector that is breathable, natural with a moisture layer between two natural layers, much like the one MGM sells.
We got a My Green Mattress hybrid last year and love it. I did end up getting the additional latex topper though. I am a larger bodied person and a side sleeper but my husband could take it or leave it.
I bought mine from mygreenmattress. Com. For about $700 about 7 years ago. I am only now starting to see small depressions, I have rotated it regularly as they instructed. Thinking of going back in a year or two to get another. No idea what they cost now.
