Saatva settled an $11.5 million false advertising case last year and Nectar uses fiberglass as a fire retardant and got hit by the FTC for false "Made in USA" claims. Deceptive marketing? IDK, but just not worth owning something from a brand that operates like that. My Green Mattress Kiwi is what I'd recommend. Family owned & built in their own factory in Illinois, GOLS certified latex. \~$949-1249 depending on size. 365-night trial. But just a heads up. Latex isn't for everyone - there is a period where you will definitely smell it. If you want to step up slightly, the Happsy Organic Mattress at $1199 is basically the same factory as Naturepedic (one of the most respected names in the space) at a lower price.

Dunlop latex, by its nature, is meant to last. Unlike memory foam which will break down and fail over time. Both Happsy and Kiwi provide 20-year warranties on their products. 20. That’s because the materials they use- Dunlop latex, gots certified organic cotton, etc. are meant to hold up that long.

you and the rest of the mattress buying market are confused, don't worry. "clean," "eco," and "natural" are unregulated marketing terms. any brand can use them. they mostly mean nothing. certifications are the only thing that actually matters, but even then you have to know which ones matter. **GOTS** on the finished product = the entire mattress, not just the cotton input (many brands say they use GOTS cotton, but that doesn't exclude them from using chemicals during processing/manufacturing). so the finished product has been verified organic through the whole supply chain with GOTS. **GOLS** = the latex specifically is certified organic Dunlop. only Dunlop latex qualifies, not Talalay. **GREENGUARD Gold** = independently tested for VOC emissions. this is what addresses your chemical smell concern directly (but not the latex smell, I'll get to that). **CertiPUR-US** = created by the foam industry to certify its own products. not a non-toxic standard. researchers found lead in mattresses from four CertiPUR-US certified brands. ignore. brands I find myself consistently recommending to clients: Naturepedic, My Green Mattress, Happsy. all hold finished-product GOTS, GOLS, and GREENGUARD Gold. Naturepedic was the first mattress brand in the world to earn UL 2884 PFAS validation in 2025. on the latex smell: yes, certified organic latex has a natural rubber smell that fades eventually. completely different from the chemical off-gassing in a foam mattress. not gonna sugar coat it, you'll smell it, no doubt, but latex smell and chemical smell is very different. watch out for Saatva, it has an $11.5M false advertising settlement and an active PFAS lawsuit over their crib mattresses. and Nectar uses fiberglass as a fire retardant. both are all over affiliate review sites because they pay well. My Green Mattress Kiwi is the best budget, along with Happsy Organic Mattress. Naturepedic EOS Classic with layer swaps if the firmness isn't right is what I recommend to mostly everyone. I'm a personal product consultant, happy to answer any questions.

I got one here a year ago after a ton of research, been very happy: https://www.mygreenmattress.com/product/kiwi-organic-mattress/ The cotton mattress protector is worth it, it’s washable and waterproof but not plasticy or hot.

I’ve been down this spiral 😅 we have 2 organic mattresses and both are great. My green mattress kiwi is one of the cheaper organic mattresses with only the best materials and is so comfy!! We also have naturpedic eos system which is great but $$$. My understanding is the worst chemicals offgas after 2 years so an old mattress isn’t the worst thing! But if you want a new mattress I would (and did) go for one with all natural materials free from flame retardants, pfas and other chemicals. https://www.mygreenmattress.com/product/kiwi-organic-mattress/?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21202171826&gbraid=0AAAAADcJI7sI-D1eMdSTZB7MKd03GuxXR&gclid=Cj0KCQjwrc7GBhCfARIsAHGcW5XIQeXOWrZZlObyeX02WzYzV1VtIQy7sfPwM-roVTt1_rFgHA_YIkIaAoBREALw_wcB

I have both in my house and like both. The Mygreenmattress Kiwi is the hybrid and it sleep much better firmer than my 100% latex mattresses. Neither type has any sagging after a year. Latex mattresses are from SleepEZ with Dunlap on the bottom layer and Talalay on the top two layers.

I live near the My Green Mattress store and their beds are very nice! I think that's really a good bet. They have that 365 day trial and the customer support is great. Really nice people and a small local business that's been around for a long time. I've also heard that they really stand by their warranty (should you ever need it). ETA: I would just go with the adult mattress so it's more versatile and can last longer as the child grows up.

We have a full and a queen from mygreenmattress.com (goofy name, quality product). Have had both for 8ish years and they’re excellent. We were specifically shopping for mattresses without synthetic / foam / etc.

We got a My Green Mattress hybrid last year and love it. I did end up getting the additional latex topper though. I am a larger bodied person and a side sleeper but my husband could take it or leave it.
