I bought a Purple Premier Hybrid 4 a few years back when they were still selling them. It has honestly been the only mattress that has worked for me and I have similar needs to yours. Very sensitive back, curvy side sleeper. Been as much as 225 and as small as 125 on this mattress— great in all cases. The only thing I hate about it is it’s heavy and hard to move even to nudge a small amount. But on the upside, even edge support is good! I kept buying/trying/returning other brands and they were just awful for multiple reasons or would get a body impression in nothing flat - not comfortable for r supportive imo at that point. I honestly would try Purple again despite some of the recent concerns. Short of that, I recommend looking at what Costco offers. They will come pick up and return your money at any time during the mattress warranty period if it fails.
We initially went with the Purple 3 and it was too hard for us. We upgraded to the 4 and it's bliss.
Yes! I was a hot sleeper even before peri and this saved me.
King Size Purple 4. Best mattress I’ve ever had. It’s so good it makes traveling suck because even 5 star hotels can’t hold a candle to it.
In the years that I’ve had it I’ve fluctuated between 350lbs and 400lbs, and I’m not going to lie to you and tell you that after 5 years it’s as good as new, but it’s holding up pretty well. Rotating it helps so that the part crushed by my upper body moves to be under my wife’s legs and the part under my wife’s legs gets a turn being crushed by my upper body, but I still notice it’s not as firm as it was brand new. But I still feel like I have great support without any pressure points, way better than any mattress I’ve had before, and I’ve fully crushed inner spring mattresses so badly that I could literally feel the plywood of my platform bed-frame through the night.
The first week or two on the purple was awful because I woke up feeling like my ribs had been tenderized with a baseball bat. I’d been so used to my shoulders and hips holding all of my weight that my ribs weren’t used to doing anything. But that went away quickly.
Depending on which city you’re in I would recommend looking into discontinued models at Mattress Firm! Not many people even my coworkers know how to access the list but they’re unused beds(meaning you still get the 120 night trial period) but discontinued 50%-80% off! I’m in San Antonio and that’s how I got my gf a purple 4 which used to go for $3,000+ for around $700!! I’ve cleared out most of the stock here in SA but when I look at other cities there’s a bunch of stuff!! Best of luck!!
Getting a Purple mattress, on top of an adjustable bed frame, has been one of the best things I’ve bought, for my comfort, and my health. I have the “Purple 4”, when I got it several years ago, it was the most expensive, and most cushioned version, but I’ve never regretted it. I wake up in so much less pain. (I typically sleep on my side, and also somewhat sitting up (to help with acid reflux).
Is that why Costco can sell their latest Stearns & Foster offering (the Kirkland Lakeridge line) at such a low price? They recently added the Tight Top variant, which has caught my attention. I’m not a brand snob—I base my decisions on feel and long-term performance. Years ago, I visited several mattress stores and tested various Serta iSeries models (I can’t recall the exact one), but I ended up buying from Sears (back when it was around). It was decent at first—exactly as advertised, firm and supportive for the initial two months. Then it started developing a light-to-dark yellow discoloration across the entire surface, even with a thick waterproof mattress pad encasing it fully. Glad that headache is over. My current Purple 4-inch Hybrid Premier has also become too soft and uncomfortable for my needs. I’ve seen recommendations here for the Sealy Lincoln Heights Firm, but the new Kirkland Lakeridge Tight Top (just released) seems worth considering. The only negative review I spotted was from an unverified account. What are your experiences with these?
